Arctic Cat Mud Pro 1000 2011 vs Can-Am Outlander 800R X mr 2011 - comparison of two utilities
13.09.2013
A few years ago, Arctic Cat revolutionized the ATV market with a new model designed specifically for dirt racing. Youngsters who live to challenge machines and their skills in overcoming water and mud simply rejoiced as manufacturers finally recognized and legitimized their way of getting adrenaline rushes. Moreover, an ATV was created that could save its owner thousands of dollars, since he would not have to purchase and modify ATVs from other companies.
The 2009 Arctic Cat Mud Pro 700 H1 model turned out to be truly original. Her success was stunning for the company and a gift for clients. This brand has been on the ATV market for 14 years, but in recent years competition in the ATV market has increased significantly, which is why the company develops and creates new interesting models, for example, Thundercat (1000 LTD) or the Mud Pro line. In 2010, Arctic Cat took one of the leading positions in the class it created, demonstrating the Mud Pro 650 and Mud Pro 1000 ATV models.
However, the dominance of “cats” in this niche did not last long. Soon the Outlander 800R X mr ATV from Can-Am was born. These cars were designed for dirt racing as standard. It was with the advent of this model that Can-Am entered the circle of companies developing ATVs for similar purposes.
Can-Am's answer is the 2011 Outlander 800R X mr. The letters mr mean mud racer, which translates as mud racer. This factory-equipped model does not have a high external snorkel like the Mud Pro, but the Outlander is equipped with wheels and tires of increased diameter (30 inches), electric power steering, as well as an adjustable suspension that allows the rider to increase the ground clearance while driving on difficult terrain, or on high-speed sections, reduce it.
— When we received information about the Outlander X mr model, we immediately began to draw up a plan for a duel with the Mud Pro 1000 model. It’s our job to come up with and implement such plans. It turns out that racing through impassable mud is a good way to break away. Such a race can compensate for all those tedious and long hours in the office when we have to tolerate each other, says an employee of ATV Magazine.
Race through the swamp.
Let's call a spade a spade: we know that guys like us, invading wetlands, can pose a real threat to the fauna and wildlife of the wetlands. Thereby causing discontent among environmentalists.
Only because of this, we had to conduct our test drive on a race track specially created for this purpose, which includes quite extensive wetlands (we somehow didn’t want to create a commotion with the inhabitants of a real swamp). We had a lot of help from Bob Schmidt, a local off-road racing enthusiast. He and his team created an impromptu quagmire on the track. By the way, racing on huge all-wheel drive trucks has been taking place on this track for many years now. You can imagine how everything is scattered there.
So this track suited us perfectly for a test drive. The presence of holes on the route with water and mud of varying depths and viscosity, as well as a huge funnel that sucked in what was thrown into it, made the test conditions as close as possible to natural swamps.
2011 Arctic Cat Mud Pro 1000 Features and Specifications.
As we have already said, the Mud Pro is the founder of this class, and by doing this it has, as it were, isolated itself from other ATVs on the market. So, the first thing you'll see when looking at the Mud Pro is its green snorkel, which sits about 12 inches above the front grille. Its task is to supply air to the variator and the engine.
Mud Pro ATVs, according to the stated characteristics, are slightly lifted, have a suspension travel of 25 cm and a ground clearance of 35 cm. Independent suspension with A-shaped arms, shock absorbers with adjustable stiffness. They have Maxxis Zilla tires and 14-inch aluminum wheels. The one-inch tread provides excellent traction.
This year, the Mud Pro 1000 can be purchased in an extended version with a wheelbase of 145 cm. Mud Pro models equipped with 600 and 700 cc engines have a wheelbase of 125 cm. A long wheelbase can provide better traction force, so it is given its due preference of most riders. In the days before these types of ATVs were available, many riders used Can-Am, Polaris and Arctic Cat two-up ATVs because they had a longer wheelbase.
Angled plastic footpegs on a slightly raised platform that's set back are another innovation on the Mud Pro 1000. They're comfortable enough for stand-up riding when you need to shift your center of gravity to load the rear of the quad when tackling tough terrain.
The Mud Pro 1000 model has the largest engine in terms of volume, its displacement is 951 cm3. Engine type - V-Twin, liquid-cooled, gasoline supply type - injection. The four-valve engine is capable of producing about 70 horsepower, which is comparable in power to the Outlander 800R engine. The transmission is a CVT variator, which has a subtransmission selector for downshifting and upshifting ranges, with neutral parking and reverse gear modes. The selector is located on the left front fender of the ATV.
Arctic Cat began using gears in 2011 that had a 3.1 gear ratio versus the 4.0 on last year's models. This solution made it easier to switch to step-down mode. Also, compared to last year’s models, the axles were strengthened by 66%, which reduces the risk of their deformation.
Modes 2 and 4 WD can be selected using a switch mounted on the steering wheel. The factory equipment also includes large rear and front bumpers, as well as a high-tech instrument panel. On the dashboard, in addition to the standard tachometer, speedometer and fuel level indicator, there are also indicators for the engaged center differential, high beam, oil pressure and temperature. There is also a rather convenient glove compartment, which is located directly in front of the driver’s seat. The lever that controls the rear and front disc brakes is mounted on the handlebar.
The Mud Pro 1000 can be purchased in black/green and orange/black colorways. Its mass is 386 kg, and it is also equipped with a winch with a force of 1360 kg. The price of this ATV in the USA is approximately $13,299.
2011 Can-Am Outlander 800R X mr Features and Specifications.
It's no surprise that extreme sports enthusiasts from Quebec immediately jumped at the opportunity to take part in off-road racing. This brand changed its image just a couple of years ago and now produces high-performance engines in virtually every segment where it has competitors. These engines are found in the excellent base Outlander models, as well as the DS450 and Renegade.
In addition, Can-Am promotes its brand and proves its strength through cross-country and swamp racing.
It's amazing how far this company has gone to show off their new creation - the stock 800R X mr. Can-Am designers did not just modify the existing model, raising the snorkel higher and installing larger wheels, as well as increasing the ground clearance. They used special engineering solutions that made it possible for the model to participate in this type of racing.
The 800R X mr is based on the Outlander Max platform, which has an extended 147 cm wheelbase. The front suspension has A-shaped double wishbones, the rear suspension has independent torsion bar suspension. The X mr model also has an air suspension.
The air compressor can be started with a button located on the left of the instrument panel, next to it there is a control button for Fox gas shock absorbers.
This technology was first introduced on the two-seater Outlander Max 800R LTD, in order to adjust the stiffness of the shock absorbers under varying loads in different conditions. However, in the X mr it is intended to change the ground clearance. If you increase the ground clearance all the way (about 5 cm), the X mr will look like a cutting-edge monster. These 5 cm will play no small role in deep water.
Excellent performance and high ground clearance are achieved through the use of huge 30-inch tires with high lugs (1.5 inches). They are dressed on aluminum wheels R14. The ground clearance when the body is maximally raised is 35 cm, and when the body is maximally lowered it is 30 cm.
Can-Am engineers managed to further improve the performance of the model by moving the radiator to the hood and also introducing a built-in snorkel system. Air suspension breathers and air supply pipes are located under the instrument panel. They, of course, do not look as effective as the snorkel of the Mud Pro 1000, but they are in no way inferior in efficiency.
The Outlander engine type is V-Twin, the volume of which is 799 cm3, the power is 71 “horses,” injection with liquid cooling.
In addition, the ATV is equipped with a 2-mode electric power steering, which ensures maneuverability and ease of control, both on high-speed sections of the route and in deep quagmires. All-wheel drive can be connected using a toggle switch. And the Visco-Lok system automatically engages the second wheel when the first one slips.
The weight of the ATV is 326 kg. It can be purchased in both yellow and black colors. The traction force of the winch is 1360 kg. Cost in the USA – $13,099.
Impression
With whoops and screams, laughter and various jokes, our test drive was one of the most fun we've ever had. Both ATVs, without straining, overcame the impassable mud, because of this we climbed further and further.
The goal of our tests was to choose the best, and the award was deservedly awarded - Outlander 800R X mr.
It is more suitable for dirt racing beginners as it has huge tires, electric power steering and adjustable suspension. All this makes it possible to easily operate the machine even in deep mud. The tires alone provide such an advantage that there is no need to talk about other options that put the 800R X mr far ahead of the Mud Pro. Add to that the lighter weight and lower price, and the comparison becomes irrelevant.
The Outlander was more nimble on flat sections. This is thanks to the electric power steering and adjustable suspension, which makes cornering easy.
The steering wheel of this model is also equipped for hands. There are also glove compartments in the back for things, which is good news. True, dirt got into them during testing.
The Outlander's downsides include its brakes. Rear brake discs without protection, when water and dirt get into them, they begin to emit a very strong squeak and braking is jerky. It would be nice to have a protective cover on the brakes.
Mud Pro is not a bad quad, although it is inferior to X mr. It would be nice to test it with larger tires and see it have electric power steering in the future. It is not yet clear whether Arctic Cat will be able to apply such solutions without increasing the cost of the ATV.
The Mud Pro has a wider handlebar. On high-speed sections it is less maneuverable than the X mr.
Definitely, these two cars will get through any quagmire and swamp better than any of the stock ATVs. However, the X mr was able to outperform the Mud Pro in a number of ways. That’s why we awarded him the title “king of the swamps.”
We will wait for a response from Arctic Cat.

Thundercat 1000 EFI 4x4. Double punch
Information about the leviathan created in the depths of Arctic Cat appeared last year. At exhibitions, in particular in Helsinki, I had the opportunity to touch it a little with my hands. Information about the leviathan created in the bowels of Arctic Cat appeared last year. At exhibitions, in particular in Helsinki, I had the opportunity to touch it a little with my hands. And finally, in February, on the second day of the new product’s stay in Russia, we managed to saddle it and see what it was capable of.

The representatives really wanted to show off the product, as they say. Therefore, we found a place in the Leningrad region, where, in theory, there should be everything for an adult to ride a new product. But it so happened that the temperature suddenly dropped and it was not possible to reveal some of the capabilities of Thundercat in a fair duel with off-road. Every cloud has a silver lining: but we were able to test and evaluate those properties that would hardly have been possible in the summer. Well, now more details.
It is known that in different environments the same object looks different. This is due to the size, color and shape of surrounding things. Lighting is also of great importance. At first, after being unloaded from a closed trailer, Thundercat seemed somehow sad and distant. At the same time, it is very neat and well tailored.
The sadness of the quad just leaving the trailer can be explained simply: instead of grass, sunshine and other delights, it ended up on ice, hard snow, darkness and everything that the ancient Greeks called hell (for those who have forgotten, the Hellenes considered eternal cold to be hell). However, after the Thundercat’s engine was started and it moved under its own power to a more or less free space, it apparently felt better, and it became possible, without offending the iron soul of the device, to be curious about its guts.

The first thing that made the assembled synclite very happy was the lightness and accessibility of the engine and transmission. The side plastic walls that cover the engine on the sides are easy to remove, you can even accentuate them - very simply. Thanks to the design, the motor elements are accessible for inspection and any actions with them also from the wheels. For lovers of heavy off-road, it will probably be useful to know that the spark plugs are very easily accessible, and the air intake allows you to easily attach the snochel to it and take it out. There is also a cover at the front of the quad, under the trunk, through which you can access the Thundercat's internals.
In the front part, where the winch is usually located, there is already a specially prepared place for its installation. It seems like a trifle, but it’s nice. The seat, which I only heard about and felt a couple of times at exhibitions, is really comfortable, easy to remove and looks good. But about the seat itself a little later. The view that opens to an outside observer when the seat is removed is, in general, not much different from the same views of other Arctic Cat quads and others. But a decent set of keys in an accessible place makes the right impression.
If you look at the Thundercat strictly in profile, one of its main differences from previous models is almost immediately noticeable: the rear wheel protrudes slightly beyond the rear fender. And this is not a tuning wheel, but a standard one. What does this mean? That’s right: it’s easier to drive out of a ditch, for example, or, if you want, to lift the Thundercat “on the goat” without fear of breaking the wings.
Yes, the Thundercat is longer than its predecessors. It would be more accurate to say that it is not itself that is longer: its overall dimensions are the same as, for example, the 700 EFI model. But the Thundercat’s wheelbase is five centimeters longer. It’s probably time to saddle up the “rattle cat” and see how good the new V-twin engine with a displacement of 950 “cubes” and an extended wheelbase are.

Despite the nasty minus five degrees and almost 90 percent humidity, Thundercat quickly started up and seemed to want to warm up. Small trips through snow-covered virgin soil and overcoming ditches covered with dry grass turned out to be seeds for him. Considering that the quad is equipped with “prairie” tires, its behavior can be considered very confident. If desired, you can spin almost on the spot, using various transmission capabilities. And here the opportunity arose to test the advantages of a long wheelbase. It was on an icy and humpbacked road, changing transmission modes and either accelerating, then slowing down, or even braking to the floor, that we were able to understand a little about the new product and appreciate some of the advantages of the large distance between the front and rear axles.
Advantage one. When braking on slippery and hard surfaces, the Thundercat has less rear axle drift to the side. Advantage two. When driving on a road with a longitudinal hump in the middle, it is a little easier to control in cases where the front or rear axle tries to deviate from the indicated direction. Half-an-hour tests on a broken ice track showed that even with standard tires installed on the Thundercat, you can confidently control it in difficult moments at relatively high speeds. And even if the tires start to skid, you still have the opportunity to catch the quad and direct it in the right direction. And here we need to return to the seat. Indeed, the landing is lower than, for example, on the 700 EFI model. But not only lower, but also more comfortable. Unfortunately, it was not possible to try on the old and new seats, but I got the full impression that the new one is very different not only in shape, but also in width. The difference in width allows you to move around the seat even slightly, either loading or unloading one of the sides. It is more convenient to do this than before (meaning previous models), and also than on quads of similar weight and dimensions from other manufacturers. Maybe these are personal characteristics (weight, height, etc.), but it’s a fact.
The steering is quite consistently light, both with all-wheel drive and with rear wheel drive and the lock engaged. I was very pleased with the easy and precise gear shifting. For the first time on an ATV, I didn’t have to force the lever into the desired position; everything happened easily and, so to speak, pleasantly.
At a speed of 50-60 km/h when driving on frozen virgin soil, there are no complaints about the handling, as well as about the softness of the ride. At least it didn’t get to the point of “pouring vertebrae into my underpants.” Standing, of course, is more common, but it turns out you can sit on the Thundercat. Adjustments allow you to fine-tune the suspension not only to your weight, but also to the characteristics of the driving surface.

My memory is already failing me a little, but I got the full impression that the steering wheel grips are slightly different compared to other models. It seems that the diameter is the same and the length is the same, but something has changed. Maybe the material is different or the shape of the handles on the bottom. In short, the handles are comfortable.
Finally about the main thing. Thundercat, after I had a chance to ride it, impressed me with its versatility. You can drive it with all your heart, with the breeze, or you can do everything the same, but slowly, with feeling, sense, and arrangement. It is suitable for those who are still eager to fight and want to get adrenaline in buckets, and for those who are already tired of rushing to the top and just want to get guaranteed pleasure. Rare case.
Some conclusions
Couldn't find the right dirt. It's a pity. But judging by the behavior of the engine, which accelerates quickly, and the life of the transmission, which kicks in already at about 1600 min-1, there is enough traction to pull yourself out of the quagmire at very low speeds. Of course, the hair thing is a hyperbole, but the capabilities of the engine and transmission are immediately impressive. And the sound of the engine is pleasant, not like that of a single-barreled gun. Due to the long wheelbase, driving down and up the mountain is a little easier than for quads with a shorter wheelbase. Using four-wheel drive, you can successfully climb a mountain on very uneven surfaces without jumping to the top

Dear friends!
A couple of years ago, Arctic Cat revolutionized the ATV market with the introduction of a new model designed specifically for dirt racing. Young people who live to challenge their machines and their own skills in traversing deep water and bogs rejoiced as a manufacturer finally recognized and legitimized their way of getting adrenaline, and created an ATV that could save thousands of dollars for owners who already there would be no need to buy and modify ATVs from other companies. Indeed, the original 2009 Arctic Cat Mud Pro 700 H1 was a stunning success for the company itself and a gift for such customers. This brand has been in the ATV market for 14 years, but in recent years it has become increasingly difficult for it to compete with other companies, so they have created such interesting models as the Thundercat 1000 cc class. (now known as 1000 LTD) and the Mud Pro line of ATVs. In 2010, Arctic Cat took the top position in its own class with the introduction of the Mud Pro 1000, as well as the Mud Pro 650.
However, Arctic Cat's dominance in this niche ended with the introduction of Can-Am's Outlander 800R X mr ATVs. These ATVs were originally designed for dirt racing, so it's natural that Can-Am became another company to develop ATVs for this purpose.
Can-Am's answer is the 2011 Outlander 800R X mr, where mr stands for mud racer. The factory equipment of this model does not include a high external snorkel as on the Mud Pro, but the Outlander has wheels and tires with an increased diameter of 30 inches, electric power steering and an adjustable suspension that allows the rider to increase the ground clearance by 6 cm while driving in difficult areas, or reduce it by higher speed sections. “When we first received information about the Outlander X mr, we immediately began to develop a plan to duel with the Mud Pro 1000. That is our job - to come up with and implement such plans. So it turns out that racing through impassable mud can be a good way to have a blast. Such a race compensates for all those long days at the office when we have to put up with each other, says an employee of ATV Magazine.
Right to race across the swamps
Now let's call a spade a spade: we know that in many places the intrusion of guys like us into wetlands can pose a threat to the nature and wildlife of wetlands and thus cause mixed reactions from conservationists.
Therefore, for our test drive we used a track specially created for racing, which included wetlands - we did not want to cause a commotion to the inhabitants of the neighboring swamp. We reached out to Bob Schmidt, a local off-road racing enthusiast. His team created a makeshift bog on a track that has hosted large four-wheel drive truck and buggy racing for several years.
This terrain suited us perfectly for a test drive and included holes with water and mud of varying depths and viscosities. In addition, there was one huge and slowly sucking funnel into itself, into which everything we threw into it sank.
2011 Arctic Cat Mud Pro 1000: Specifications and Benefits
As we said, the Mud Pro was the founder of this class, thereby setting itself apart from the rest of the ATV market. The first thing you notice is the bright green snorkel, which sits 12 inches higher than the front grille. It supplies air to the engine and the variator, and its appearance seems to say: “I bet I can overcome any depth without problems!”
According to the stated characteristics, Mud Pro ATVs are slightly lifted, have a ground clearance of 35 cm and suspension travel of 25 cm. Independent suspension with double A-arms on all four wheels, shock absorbers with adjustable stiffness. This ground clearance is due to 28-inch Maxxis Zilla tires with increased tread, and 14-inch aluminum wheels. The one-inch tread provides excellent traction.
For 2011, the Mud Pro 1000 is offered in a longer version with the same 145-centimeter wheelbase as on the two-seat TRV ATVs of the same company. The 700 and 600 cc Mud Pro models have a 125 cm wheelbase. A longer wheelbase provides better traction and is preferred by most riders. Even before these types of ATVs were available, many riders started out on Arctic Cat, Polaris and Can-Am two-up ATVs because of their longer wheelbases.
Plastic, angled footpegs on a raised, rearward platform are another innovation on the Mud Pro 1000. They're great for standing, shifting your center of gravity when you need to load the rear of the ATV when tackling particularly difficult terrain.
This model is equipped with the largest displacement engine on the ATV market - 951 cc. Liquid cooling, fuel supply type - injection. Engine type - V-Twin with an unforgettable exhaust sound. The four-valve, single-cam engine produces about 70 hp, which is comparable to the output of the Outlander 800R powerplant. The transmission is a CVT variator with a subtransmission selector for up and down ranges, with reverse, neutral and parking modes. The selector is located on the front left fender of the ATV.
For 2011, Arctic Cat switched to 3.1 gear ratios versus 4.0 on 2010 models for easier downshifts. Additionally, the axles have been strengthened by 66% compared to last year's models, reducing the risk of warping. 2 or 4 WD mode can be selected using a switch on the steering wheel. Factory equipment also includes large front and rear bumpers and a high-tech instrument panel. The instruments are easy to read, with 14 indicators - in addition to the standard speedometer, tachometer and fuel level indicator, there are also indicators for high beam, engaged center differential, temperature and oil pressure. Like other Arctic Cat models, there's a convenient glove box located just ahead of the driver's seat, and the handlebar has a single lever that simultaneously operates the front and rear disc brakes.
The Mud Pro 1000 is available in orange/black and black/green colorways and is priced at $13,299 in the US. Its dry weight is 386 kg, and it is also equipped with a winch with a pulling force of 1360 kg.
2011 Can-Am Outlander 800R X mr: Specifications and Benefits
It is not surprising that a clan of born extreme sports enthusiasts from Quebec immediately jumped at the opportunity to become a full-fledged participant in heavy off-road racing. This is the same brand that changed its image several years ago and now produces high-performance engines in virtually every class where it has competitors. These engines power both the excellent base Outlander and the bold Renegade and DS450.
In addition, Can-Am is eager to prove its strength and promote its brand by participating in both cross-country and cross-country racing, so such competitions in the swamps can only benefit it.
What's more surprising, however, is how far this company has gone with its new creation, the stock Outlander 800R X mr. Can-AM didn't just modify the existing model by increasing the ground clearance, installing larger wheels and raising the snorkel higher - on the contrary, the Outlander 800R X mr uses special engineering solutions to fully participate in this type of racing.
This model is built on the Outlander Max platform with an extended 147-centimeter wheelbase. It is equipped with a front suspension with A-shaped double wishbones, and the rear suspension developed by Can-Am is an independent torsion bar (TTI). However, unlike other modifications of the Outlander, the X mr suspension is also air suspension (ACS).
The air compressor is started by a button on the left side of the instrument panel, and next to it is a button that controls six different settings for adjusting the stiffness of the high-performance Fox gas shock absorbers.
This technology was first introduced on the top-of-the-line Outlander Max 800R LTD two-seat model to adjust shock absorber stiffness to suit varying loads and operating conditions. Although on the X mr the point of adjusting it is to change the ground clearance. With the ground clearance completely increased (by 5 cm), the X mr looks like a cutting-edge monster. But in deep water these 5 cm play an important role.
Also, high ground clearance and excellent performance are achieved by using huge 30-inch Gorilla Axle Silverback tires with high 1.5-inch lugs. They ride on 14-inch cast aluminum wheels. Ground clearance is 35 cm with the body fully raised and 30 cm with the body completely lowered.
Can-Am engineers further improved the X mr's performance by moving the radiator to the hood and developing an integrated snorkel system (ISS in the company's designation system). Air supply pipes to the engine and air suspension breathers are located under the dashboard. They are certainly not as eye-catching as the tall Mud Pro 1000 snorkel, but their effectiveness in overcoming deep water holes is beyond doubt.
Engine type Outlander 800R X mr - V-Twin, volume 799.9 hp, power 71 hp, injection, liquid-cooled, single camshaft and the most blood-stirring sporty sound that you would hardly expect from stock motor.
To top it all off, there is a 2-mode electric power steering, which provides enviable maneuverability and ease of control both in deep quagmires and on high-speed sections of the highway. The all-wheel drive mode is activated using a toggle switch, and the Visco-Lok differential locking system engages the second wheel of the front axle when there are signs of slipping of the first.
The stated dry weight of the Outlander 800R X mr is 326 kg. Color scheme: black + yellow. Equipped with a winch with a traction force of 1360 kg. Price in the USA is $13,099.

With whoops and whoops, laughter and all kinds of teasing at each other, our test drive through the bog (codenamed "mud gate") was easily the most fun we've ever had. Both ATVs effortlessly overcame the impassable mud, which forced us to climb further and further.
But unlike parents who compare their children, we had to choose the best, and in this case the award went to the “new kid on the block” - the Outlander 800R X mr.
For beginner dirt racers, it is more suitable as it has huge tires, on-the-fly adjustable suspension and electric power steering. All this makes it easy to control this ATV in deep mud, where the huge tires alone already provide an undeniable advantage, not to mention the other options that make this model a step ahead of the Mud Pro. Add to this the weight, which is 90 kg less than the competitor, and the price, which is $200 less, and the comparison becomes a little inappropriate.
The Outlander 800R X mr also turned out to be more agile on relatively flat areas, despite its size! This is thanks to the adjustable suspension and electric power steering, which makes cornering easy.
This model also has hand guards on the steering wheel. They really allow you to shift the center of gravity of the ATV without the risk of injury, hanging to the side, but it will not be superfluous to dose the force correctly. In addition, there are two glove compartments in the back for things, which is simply great, although dirty water did get into them during the test.
However, there is no such thing as a perfect ATV, and the downside to the X mr is its brakes. Since the rear brake discs do not have protection, they emit a strong squeak when wet and braking occurs jerkily. I would like to see brake guards on this model.
The Mud Pro is a good quad, although it is inferior to the more advanced X mr. I would like to test it with larger diameter tires, like on the X mr, and in the future, of course, to see electric power steering on it. The question is whether Arctic Cat can implement such solutions without increasing the cost of the ATV, and thus compete more successfully with the X mr. The Mud Pro has a wider handlebar and more front parcel shelf space. It is less maneuverable at high speeds than the X mr and has a single lever to operate the front and rear brakes simultaneously, like on the X mr.
In the end, both of these ATVs will get through any swamp and bog better than any stock vehicles, but the X mr was able to unseat the Mud Pro and can easily be awarded the title of “king of the swamps”. Let's see how Arctic Cat responds.
