Ural Patrol motorcycles are passable and versatile

Ural Patrol is a universal motorcycle. This unique model is perfect for both driving on flat roads and severe off-road conditions. This device is designed for long trips and is equipped with a rigid front fork, a comfortable wide seat, a reliable chassis and everything necessary for comfortable transportation of your luggage. All these characteristics attract motorcycle enthusiasts who are not demanding of advanced characteristics to this model. A motorcycle easily competes with an ordinary car in its purpose - after all, getting to a river over rough terrain is easier on such a motorcycle than on a car, even if we are talking about an all-wheel drive jeep. At the same time, the difference in price will be significant even when compared with domestic used SUVs.

The production of this motorcycle began in 2006 at the Irbit Motorcycle Plant, based on Ural Tourist. In 2008, the Ural Patrol was partially modernized and it took a place in the forefront in popularity among modern Ural models.

While not distinguished by a high level of maneuverability, due to its category of “wheelchair rider,” this motorcycle more than compensates for this disadvantage with its powerful cross-country ability, which became possible thanks to the all-wheel drive system of this motorcycle and its 19-inch wheels. Switching the drives between one wheel and the sidecar is done by simply switching the lever. Based on this, the Ural Patrol has become a full-fledged 2WD off-road motorcycle.

The Ural Patrol is equipped with a 4-stroke two-cylinder engine with a capacity of 745 cc. centimeters of air cooling, with kickstater and electrostater. Engine power is 40 hp. With. at 5600 rpm. The motorcycle's power system successfully combines domestic parts produced at IMZ and foreign-made parts.

Ural Patrol 2014. From Russia with love. And electronic fuel injection.

Riding a motorcycle with a sidecar is like traveling to another world. And riding a motorcycle with a Russian-made Ural sidecar is comparable to traveling to another world, imbued with magic. Riding on it is also associated with the feeling of fighting with an epileptic three-legged bear who was drunk on vodka. The bear is at the "fool" stage - just one step away from becoming cruel. But after a while, you and your hairy, horny friend become friends, and then this drunken three-legged bear dances on your lap while you're in a chair that's tilting backwards. If that doesn't sound exciting, I don't even know what planet you're from. Okay, maybe the ride in the 2014 Ural Patrol isn't exactly the same, but it's not that different. What's really important is to be calm and in control of your ride as much as possible. When you accelerate, the bike leans to the right. When you brake, he wants to go left. Various surface irregularities send him in different directions, almost like boxers' feints. Do not be afraid. After riding a motorcycle for a while, riding with a sidecar will become the new norm. Of course, you can bet that many of the joys of a two-wheeled motorcycle disappear with the addition of a sidecar. You can’t bend over, your vehicle is too wide to squeeze into cracks when moving, it’s harder to park, and so on. But it is the stroller that opens up a whole new, unfamiliar universe, where everyone is smiling and wants to go for a ride, and you decide whether to take with you some junk, a few pounds of rubble, a full keg of oatmeal stout (beer) or a few gallons of borscht. You may be thinking about taking the Ural camping or driving in the snow. Or go surfing in Mexico and ride on the beach. Especially because this Patrol has two-wheel drive, and the power is sent to the sidecar wheel using a locking differential.

Oh, you can still take a passenger. This year, Ural has undergone major changes. Electronic fuel injection from Michigan-based ElectroJet replaced the carburetors, and there were triple disc brakes instead of just a single disc up front. Brembo makes calipers for the front and sidecar, and Hayes makes calipers for the rear, because it also includes a parking brake. The adjustable hydraulic steering damper was replaced with the old friction type, which had been used since its introduction in 1941, when the Ural was first copied from German BMWs during World War II. Anyway, I was going to laugh at the fact that Ural discovered a new technology called Electronic Fuel Injection, but then I remembered the American astronauts docking with the Russian ISS. Therefore, well done, Ural. Even with these upgrades, the $15,399 Patrol still looks very vintage, and the modern touches can't take away from the bike's charm. However, you'll have to accept the bike's increased, but still modest, power output and its recommended top speed of 70 mph. Electronic injection helps, but new cam profiles and a larger airbox also contribute to the overall output of the 749cc air-cooled horizontal twin. The declared torque is 52-57 Newton meters, the maximum occurs at 4300 rpm, which is 300 rpm less than that of a carburetor motorcycle. Claimed maximum power is 41 hp. at 5,500 rpm. You, of course, can increase the revs, but there is no tachometer, so there is no need to look for their limit: firstly, the 4-speed transmission does not like this, and will thresh and clank all the way at high revs; secondly, the torque at low speeds will allow you to get to your destination in about the same time.

The best thing to do is just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. Starting (by foot or electric starter) has become better, the engine runs smoother and stopping this 330 kg fellow has become easier than before. Stick to 100 km/h and the joy will not leave you. I accelerated to 130 km/h and the bike seemed to have not yet reached the limit, but I was no longer interested. To test the dirt holding capacity of the Patrol filter, I drove through some pretty rough places. The shock absorption and chassis composure off-road are surprisingly good, but you won't be doing motocross here. Don't jump. Never. Most of the time, single-wheel drive works well, but two-wheel drive makes it easier to climb steep hills, obviously useful in snow or mud, neither of which we've seen in a while in these parts. Not everyone can be the owner of a Ural, but everyone should ride it. This is truly a symbol motorcycle. Only now he has become much better. Don't be afraid of the bear. He's harmless and funny, if a little hairy.

New Ural motorcycles - photos and characteristics

Russian motorcycle manufacturers, despite the large selection of Japanese and Chinese equipment, still try to please consumers with excellent new products, and in 2015 the IMZ company introduced a number of new models.

Today, most of them are available for sale throughout Russia; to buy a Ural motorcycle, you just need to find a dealership; the company has several dozen of them throughout the country. At the time of 2015, the manufacturer was able to introduce 7 new models, differing from each other in shape and some characteristics. Most of the new products are already familiar to you from Soviet times, but the essence of the updates is to add new, more modern characteristics to the motorcycles, such as improved brakes, a more advanced engine system, etc.

Technical characteristics of motorcycles Ural 2015

It is worth noting that all 7 models have quite a lot in common; each of them contains:

  • powerful 750cc boxer engine;
  • constant air cooling;
  • 4-speed gearbox with the ability to drive in reverse.

Even as children, we had to remember the same boxer engine of Ural motorcycles, which produced excellent speed data. Now the manufacturer has decided to modify the motorcycle, increasing its volume and power. Having bought a new model, you will not only be satisfied with the purchase, but also forget for a long time about the main defects and frequent breakdowns of the old Urals. The new models have received improvements, so that now oil will not leak from the engine.

The new Ural 2015, photos of which will be below, are especially popular today in the United States. Such equipment is valued there, although in Russia it is losing demand due to the high price for consumers. In 2015 and beyond, IMZ motorcycles are mostly supplied to the USA.

Six of the seven 2015 models retained the standard stroller, only the Retro Solo did not receive one. All new products, without exception, now have the ability to engage reverse gear, and the Patrol and Gear Up models now have all-wheel drive. Urals have always been spoken about positively in terms of cross-country ability, because the motorcycle could get out of any difficult situation. With the new all-wheel drive, 2 models can overcome these barriers even better with the push of just 1 lever. As mentioned above, motorcycles are of different types, for example, the “Retro Solo” model does not have a sidecar, which makes it great for traveling and driving around the city.

Of course, the new products have one big drawback that repels customers - the high price. On average, 2015 models are asking from 500 to 700 thousand rubles, and most people buy Japanese fast bikes. But still, some fans of Soviet classics will buy them and feel nostalgic when riding Ural road motorcycles. Let's take a quick look at some of the new Ural motorcycles 2015, photos and their characteristics.

Motorcycle Ural ST

The new product was presented by the plant at the end of 2014 and was positioned as a representative of 2015. At the moment, the price of the model is 594,000 rubles. Particularly noteworthy are a number of positive innovations in the field of management. This indicator was improved by reducing the weight of the stroller and other structural elements. The model is perfect for beginner bikers.

The model's rims are 18 inches in size, and this is what has improved ground clearance and maneuverability. The engine with fuel injection, having a volume of 745 cubic meters, is responsible for excellent and reliable operation. The heavy road model reaches speeds of up to 110 km/h, with an average fuel consumption of 7.6 liters. The power declared by the manufacturer is 42 hp.

Motorcycle Ural Patrol

The most important advantage of this model is the presence of all-wheel drive, which is transmitted to the stroller wheel. Thus, you can operate the motorcycle both on city roads and off-road. The engine remains the same as other 2015 models. The design of the motorcycle is discreet, but the presence of a bright red color attracts primarily young people.

To cope with difficult road conditions, the manufacturer decided to install Marzocchi telescopic suspension and imported Sachs shock absorbers. The front disc brakes are hydraulic, from the famous Brembo company.

Motorcycle Ural Solo

The price of this motorcycle is 559,000 rubles, and the main advantage over other new products is its excellent design and the absence of a sidecar. That is, the motorcycle was originally created as a retro model with excellent characteristics. All the elements here are in harmony with each other, there is an old seat upholstered in leather, lots of chrome elements, black color of most of the builders and a teardrop tank.

This model seems to commemorate war times, which is emphasized by the design of the Ural Solo. The engine here is the same as in previous models, 2 cylinders and 745 cc. With such overall dimensions, the new product can drive perfectly around the city even in heavy traffic.

Motorcycle Ural Gear-Up

At the moment, this is one of the most expensive Ural models of 2015, its price is 648,000 rubles. The basis for creating the motorcycle was the Tourist model, but among the improvements the following were made:

  • new roll bars;
  • drive to the sidecar wheel (all-wheel drive motorcycle);
  • new color options: Forest Camouflage, Desert Camouflage and Forest Fog;
  • new lights and cases appeared.

In appearance, the new product shows its power and desire to conquer even the most difficult road. As a result, the manufacturer was able to create a motorcycle that has good cross-country ability, 19-inch wheels, a large trunk, high ground clearance and the latest imported electrical equipment. The result can be seen in the photo.

URAL "Traffic Inspectorate Patrol"

It all started with the fact that I wanted a motorcycle. Mikhail (a policeman I know from Chelyabinsk), by the way Springer knows him well, said that in his city a friend is selling a police Ural for 30,000 rubles. Well, I naturally caught fire. After a conversation with the owner of the Urals, Yuri (police major, commander of the PPS regiment in Chelyabinsk), we decided that he was selling, as he said, a completely new Ural for only 25,000 rubles. A decision was made to purchase it. I took out a loan, sent the money, called the owner many times, asking if everything was okay, how the pre-sale preparations were going, to which the owner answered: Everything is great, we will manage to do everything in time. But every day the timing and moment of starting the motorcycle shifted to TOMORROW. As a result, my friend, Dmitry, who lives in Chelyabinsk, who was supposed to check the operation of the engine, could not do this, since upon his arrival the motorcycle was not ready, although Yuri promised that everything would be “in order.” Yuri said that “they are driving the rocker, we need to change him.” “We also need to change the left cylinder for a new one, I don’t like it,” said Yuri. I myself agreed with the head of the luggage department about sending the motorcycle, or rather, I asked him to call Chelyabinsk and negotiate with the local luggage department so that everything would go smoothly. On July 1, 2011, Yuri handed over the Ural to me and, as he told me over the phone: “he sent me a spare old engine from a motorcycle and another wheel as a load,” which he carefully attached with tape to the main spare one, and so that the tape wouldn’t stain the wheel, he first I wrapped painter's paint on it. It’s nice, I thought, that a person treats it this way. - remember these words. Yuriy put the title and the purchase and sale agreement in the cradle, filling it with old spare parts, as he said, and he also said that he would personally supervise the loading process, which would take place on 07/02/2011. I asked Yuri to give the documents for the motorcycle to the inspector, who, according to the rules, is obliged to attach them to the luggage pass, to which Yuri, of course, agreed. 07/02/2011 at 00:00 I called Yuri who told me that the motorcycle had been successfully sent, he checked everything and gave the documents that were attached to the coupon.

On 07/04/2011 at 20:55 I was supposed to receive a motorcycle. The train was delayed for about an hour. At 22:00 I went into the baggage car and saw what looked like a new motorcycle. I rolled it out, paid everyone, and paid well - 8,000 rubles for delivery in addition to the 3,900 official cost, since there were a lot of nuances. Started it once since the 20th. It seems to be working fine. Yuri warned that the only malfunctions were: a constantly burning neutral lamp and a battery charging lamp that turned off at high speeds. It is also necessary to adjust the carburetors since the motorcycle does not rush and overflows. 25,000 was for what I called: I sat down and went.

From that moment on, everything turned out wrong...

The documents were still lying in the cradle, littered with spare parts; There was no spare wheel secured with tape; There was no second motor in the cradle; No one was present when the motorcycle was shipped.

As it turned out, Yuri simply FUCKED me.

Photos that the seller sent me:

Photos taken by Dima (comrade from Chelyabinsk):

07/06/2011 I started it, it seems to be working, I turn on the lights - they don’t turn on, the headlights - they don’t turn on. Then they turned on themselves, I turned the steering wheel to the right - they turned off and to this day they refuse to turn on. I went, I braked, the cradle drifts to the right because the rear brake of the motorcycle does not work, the front one can barely hold it. And so, in pitch darkness and without headlights, I went to a friend’s car service center who promised to make a motorcycle. It constantly stalled, well, I wasn’t surprised by this since I was warned that the carburetors needed to be adjusted. I arrived, left and went home to sleep, since it was one in the morning.

Everything interesting was waiting for me in the morning.

By ear: * Engine knocking

In fact: * The right cylinder is killed. * Killed left cylinder * Burnt out clutch discs

On 07/07/2011 the engine was opened and...

A wildflower, oil, water, and shavings were found in the engine. They probably planted a flower there, watered it with water, fertilized it with oil, and put shavings to prevent the soil from leaving.

Apparently it was like this: the motorcycle had been standing since 1991, having traveled 1242 km. Everything that could be soured and stuck, there was water in the engine, as evidenced by the water that we drained along with the oil and drops of rust on the flywheel. Severe craftsmen began “pre-sale preparation”: They drained the water along with the oil (from the crankcase), removed the cylinders and, seeing that the rings were stuck, decided to change them. We changed the rings on the right cylinder and installed them. As it turned out later, the piston jammed and the cylinder was destroyed, which I now need to machine for a second repair piston or buy a new one. They removed the left cylinder, saw that it was a complete mess, bought a new piston but did not install it because most likely they were drunk. We bought a new cylinder, installed it, and at the same time removed the old piston, but still installed it, which led to the fact that the new cylinder also needed to be changed. And the new piston was carefully placed in the cradle.

07/08/2011 After opening the box, it turned out that there was physically no reverse gear, i.e. There are simply no axles and gears. After some hesitation, I bought a box from the Dnieper from one grandfather on the motorcycle market, since I wanted to ride a motorcycle, at that moment I did not have the funds to purchase a new or restored box.

07/13/2011 I drained the gasoline from the gas tank, turned off the tap and once again, wow... I was horrified... There are a lot more cherry or cherry blossoms in the tank! + rust! And the crane itself was simply destroyed. There is no protective net, it just rotted. I bought a new faucet. I washed the tank, one of these days I will remove it again and pour acid inside to eat up the rust.

07/14/2011 I had to shorten the cardan by exactly 2 cm due to the Dnieper box. They cut it, trimmed it, trimmed it, welded it. + changed the cardan crosspiece. They didn’t start it, because the work was given to the foreman due to the fact that all the available craftsmen had gone to see Paris Dakar...

All that remains is to install the rear wheel, gas tank and connect all the wires. I hope we'll start it tomorrow.

07/21/2011 We replaced the faulty thermal relay for the turn signals with a Delco (USA). The flashers were also connected to a separate relay that I ordered in the states for my Chevrolet Camaro.

We installed a toggle switch to turn on/off the flashers under the driver's seat.

After all these manipulations, I’ll take the motorcycle back to the service center where they rebuilt the engine, gearbox and rear axle, because oil keeps leaking from everywhere, and I’m not happy with it. Let them remove everything again, buy gaskets with their own money, polish the contact points between the units and reassemble them.

07/23/2011 I took the motorcycle from one service station and drove it to another, back to the first one :'( Almost all the electrical parts have been restored. The wires to the generator are connected incorrectly, the lamp is constantly on indicating that the battery is not charging, although the tester shows that everything is fine The electricians were afraid to deal with this problem, they were afraid to burn the generator by connecting the wires as indicated on the motorcycle diagram...

I took it to the service center so that, as I already wrote above, they fixed the leak from: Rear axle box (gearbox) Knocks out 3rd and 4th gears (under load)

Here is the process of hardcore defection: (the service director is driving, I’m in the cradle)

07/26/2011 The recovery was over and I began to enjoy riding. I drove 1,000 km in 2 months.

08/23/2011 I bought and successfully installed the module: Electronic ignition. Now it's cool)))

10.10.2011 It was decided to completely restore the motorcycle. I bought a new Ural box, cardan and installed it in place. I put the Dneprovskaya one in the garage.

I bought this: Back to the past...

Almost everything is completely new! Jacket with buttonholes (new, 4 pcs.) Breeches (new, 2 pcs. or 3 pcs.) Winter leggings (I couldn’t find summer ones, new) Ceremonial shoulder straps (high and middle command, new, 10 pieces) Officer’s chrome boots ( unfortunately size 39, but new, I’ll think about how to increase the size) Belt (new) Cabura (used) Tablet (used) Helmet (new) Another helmet (not pictured, but exactly the same as mine , I posted earlier, with a visor and cockade of the USSR - used) A bunch of stars, cockades, badges, etc.

In the bag on the right: a set of reflective pads, sleeves, a belt and something else. Glasses with built-in sun visor (new even in cellophane, 4 pcs.)

Chrome boots

P/S To say that I am happy is to say nothing.

11.11.2011

14.11.2011

11/26/2011 The frame was cleaned, the seams were sanded, puttyed to achieve ideal angles and slopes, the lower part of the motorcycle was treated with anti-gravel, painted and varnished. In the photo it is all covered in dust, as they are preparing the next parts for painting.

12/9/2011 The painters were given the task: to remove ALL manufacturing flaws and possible defects: redo ALL welds, clean, putty, drop, etc.

12/12/2011 The bottom and top of the cradle are treated with anti-gravel, after which they are painted with auto enamel and varnished.

Unfortunately, the painters overlooked several dents and painted the cradle completely and varnished it. And I forced them to redo everything again...

Tomorrow an airbrush arrives that will paint the USSR Coat of Arms on the cradle, the URAL emblem on the tank and the traffic police inscription in the front of the cradle. Due to the fact that it was not possible to find the original emblem on the tank, it will be recreated using an airbrush.

We also bought absolutely all new bolts for assembling the motorcycle.

In addition, I had to change the cylinders and pistons again, since what I bought in the store in the summer turned out to be made of low-quality cast iron and the compression in the winter dropped to a critical level, as a result of which the motorcycle stopped starting. Now I managed to find all this from the USSR reserves - generously smeared with grease.

12/18/2011 After painting, I took all the parts home and dried them, at the same time inhaling the “fragrant” fumes)))

12/23/2011 It was not possible to unspike the wheels, since I did not find a craftsman who would assemble them for me later, but even without this craftsman they completed the wheels at a fairly high level.

Photos are of poor quality, because: a) phone b) night

One of these days new (USSR) cylinders and pistons will be installed, after which the engine, gearbox, rear axle will be installed, and only after that the cradle, tank, etc. The steering wheel, flasher housings and all chrome parts are polished.

The airbrush worked, I looked at his work and decided to refuse his services. It was decided to make stickers. All work was sanded and painted over. Also came an original shield made of plexiglass, the lower part of which is leatherette. At the moment he is in a company that deals with this kind of thing, they make an analogue, only from modern materials.

There are actually no comments here:

I repeat: all this has been removed.

12/30/2011 At 23:00 the Ural went!!!

12/31/2011 I still gave myself a gift for the New Year, I finished the motorcycle. I apologize for the landscape, but we have a typical Astrakhan winter - without snow and with mud, so I didn’t take out the motorcycle, since there is *** in front of it... Also, there is relatively a lot of dust on the motorcycle, for this reason the camera could not convey the full saturation of colors .

Engine, gearbox, rear axle are polished.

Look at these planes!!!:

The interior was remodeled by the same master who remodeled my Chevrolet Camaro. Interior: Cover for the stroller, seats, pocket in the stroller, cover for the headlight that is attached to the shield - will be installed soon.

Almost everything on the motorcycle has been replaced with a new one: handles, SUV buttons, nuts, bolts, rubber bands, bushings, etc. Engine, gearbox, rear axle are polished. It remains to finish minor flaws in the form of laying cables, replacing some nuts and bolts with new ones, etc. The engine, or rather the carburetors, needs to be tuned.

After New Year's Eve, approximately on the 14th, they will finish my front visor, after which they will come to paste the stickers that I already have, but I won't take pictures, since they are a separate matter, they are also great)))

Video:

The collective farm did not bother to turn on the siren pedal; Andrey from Izhevsk promised to help with the search. (I turn on the siren with the handle of a hammer, pressing the siren rod to the flywheel)

Well, in conclusion, P/S

Baby magnet!

But they don’t have such a URAL!!! [="Silver"]

12/31/2011 The helmets are ready, I haven’t installed the new visor yet, it’s sealed, I’ll install it closer to the heat.

28.1.2012 That's it, the Urals are finished. All that remains is to find a speaker and install it in the front of the cradle and an antenna - install it in the back of the cradle.

dad and me

The construction budget has not been disclosed, but it is much more than 150,000 rubles. I paid and am paying for this restoration more with my health than with money. It was very difficult.

P/S I’ll immediately make a reservation about the drain - if I wanted a complete hard drain, I would not touch it at all, I would leave it as it was. I made this motorcycle for myself and for myself. This is my vision of this motorcycle, in which I have eliminated factory flaws, shortcomings and visual imperfections. Among the visual imperfections I include the traffic police inscription on the cradle and the lack of an inscription on the front of the motorcycle itself. To connect the cradle and the motorcycle, I made the inscription “Police” on the glass, thereby emphasizing the specifics of the motorcycle. And yes, I am aware that the ACDelco turn and flasher relay is not stock, but I did it intentionally and consciously.

Thanks to VasePZ for providing active consulting assistance. Special thanks to MAYOR Izhevsk.

I am one of 18 people who took part in the restoration. Unfortunately, it was impossible to do this on our own at the proper, high level. Take the example of polishing stickers and making a windshield. Like the craftsmen, my working day began at 8 am and ended at 11 am.

As for me personally: I was involved in sanding parts, preparing them for painting, straightening, laying wiring harnesses, polishing the engine, gearbox, rear axle and actively took part in the assembly. I was involved in the search and purchase of original spare parts, bolts, rubber bands, bushings, and, accordingly, the delivery and installation of all this. I looked for, measured and ordered stickers. Adjusted carburetors, etc.
