Model series Yamaha WR 125

appeared in 2008, introducing two models at once -
Yamaha WR125R
(enduro) and
Yamaha WR125X
(motard). The models were aimed mainly at the European market, have a common base and are built on an engine from the Yamaha YZF-R125.

The enduro modification of the Yamaha WR125R features 18′ and 21′ wheels, a front brake disc with a diameter of 240 mm, increased front suspension travel (240 mm), a gas-oil rear shock absorber and a curb weight of 133 kg.

The motard version of the Yamaha WR125X has 17′ road wheels, a larger front brake disc diameter (298 mm), reduced front suspension travel (210 mm), an oil-oil rear shock absorber and a curb weight of 137 kg.

Common to both motorcycles in the WR125 series is a steel duplex frame, a simple (non-inverted) fork, spoked wheels, an 8.5 liter fuel tank, a fuel injection system and a 6-speed gearbox.

2014 was the last year of production of the models, although sales of new motorcycles continued for several more years. Currently, models of the WR125 series are not found on the Russian market - obviously, this is due to the high price and, as a result, the inappropriateness of the purchase.

Chassis and brakes

The frame of this model is made of steel. The exterior is carefully detailed, such as the front fork being neatly covered and the rims being gold in color. The steering wheel has a classic shape. It is hardly possible to imagine a more aesthetically pleasing motard. However, people who want a more modest bike are unlikely to pay attention to the WR 125.

The rear suspension is pendulum and has a monoshock absorber. At the front there is a telescopic fork with an impressive travel of 210 mm. The WR 125 brakes using a 220 mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper and a 298 mm front disc with a two-piston caliper.

If you switch too early or too late, the dynamics will evaporate instantly. Well, this is a feature of a small engine, from which Japanese engineers have already squeezed everything they can. But if you work the gearbox correctly, the motorcycle will pleasantly surprise you.

Of course, in the case of motards there is no need to talk about any special comfort, but by the standards of the Yamaha WR 125 class it can be called a quite comfortable motorcycle. By the way, there is also an off-road version of this bike, which is called the Yamaha WR 125, while the motard version is called the WR 125 X, but they are sometimes confused. However, the main differences between both bikes lie in the wheels.

This light and nimble bike is, without exaggeration, one of the best city motorcycles . Impressive dynamics, an almost 9-liter gas tank, excellent disc brakes on both wheels, and amazing maneuverability make the Yamaha WR 125 one of the leaders in its class. True, the significant height of the motorcycle imposes its limitations, so if you intend to buy this bike, but are not sure whether you will be comfortable on it, you should first try it on, so to speak, in person.
