The Derbi GPR 125
is a street motorcycle sold by Derby Nacional Motor since 2005.[2] The original GPR125 was equipped with a single cylinder engine. two-stroke engine with a steel-lined cast iron cylinder manufactured by Yamaha, but in 2010 it was replaced by an all-new DOHC four-stroke four-valve model.[3]

Two-stroke GPR125

The engine of the original two-stroke model is sourced from Yamaha. This engine was used in the Yamaha DTR125 Dual Sport motorcycle and the TZR125. The engine parts on these two bikes will be swapped directly from Derbi. It uses Yamaha's Yamaha power valve system, a push-pull power valve system that consists of a rotary valve located in the exhaust port that changes the timing and area of the exhaust port. The power valve is controlled by the ECU and servomotor.

As befits a green beginner, I’ll start from the very beginning. I somehow missed that period in life when every self-respecting guy had a two-wheeled vehicle (dad’s Java, neighbor’s IZh or grandfather’s Ural). My father had a Java, but he sold it after an accident before I was born, so we were never destined to meet. The variety of bicycles was quite enough for me, and then I started studying, somehow immediately started working, and in general there was no time for that. It is very possible that even to this day I would not have thought about purchasing a motorcycle if it were not for the great and terrible House MD. If anyone remembers, in one of the series he buys himself a CBR1000RR Repsol Replica (on KDPV). The appearance of this particular bike simply shocked me, and I, a curious person by nature, decided to read a little about this model. Somehow, gradually, I studied the entire Honda lineup and moved on. At some point, I got to BikePost from Google, and somewhere around that moment I realized - I want a motorcycle. Under the cut there are many letters about further events.

Since finances were very sad at that time, all I could afford was to spend hours searching through advertisements, finding models that were interesting to me, reading about them and saving money.:) Gradually I decided on a class. Naturally, I wanted the sport Cross - I believe that it is fun, but only as a second choice. Enduro - maybe I’ll grow into it, but not yet. Classic - no. There are interesting nakeds, of course, but they also have an interesting price tag. And then I suddenly discovered the class of sports tourists. I realized that this is what I need. In addition, around the same time, a friend of mine bought himself a Thundercat, and after reviewing it, I was only convinced that I was right. So I settled on the CBR600F4. The only thing stopping me was the price. Together with the set of equipment (we are reasonable people), it became completely unbearable, but I was determined to collect it.

It would seem that this is the end of the story, but if everything were that simple, it wouldn’t be interesting.:) Scrolling through BikePost, I came across a series of posts by comrade Default, where he very colorfully described his Aprilia RS125. That's how I learned about two-stroke engines. I must say that I really liked the design of the engine, I had really never heard of anything like it before and was impressed. Again, the motorcycle itself is very beautiful, and as usual, while collecting information, I learned that there are a great many such models. By that time, I had already collected a certain amount of money, and one fine day, while flipping through the advertisements, I decided to look for something small and two-stroke. And then, literally in the first five results, I find this:

Derbi GPR 50R.:) Two-stroke. Water cooling. 6 gears. 50cc. A moped is a moped, of course, but the price! I could buy it right now! And it looks vaguely like sports. In general, I didn’t have to think long. Without leaving the ticket office, transport was found, and at 7 pm I and two comrades started towards the glorious city of Belaya Tserkov.

Since I had no experience in purchasing motorcycles (and vehicles in general), naturally, I did everything wrong. The motorcycle was half disassembled, there was no battery, so it had to be started from the pushrod (with difficulty), the idle speed was non-existent, and in general everything was quite sad. But I didn’t care, I was in a hurry to pack everything into the car and take it home. The result was sad.

The next day, in high spirits, I bought everything I needed and started assembling.:) After installing the battery, repairing the starter and other small things, the motorcycle still did not start. Nothing, we thought, and started the moped “from the pusher”. It started up, worked, were happy, turned it off and went home. The next day, they disassembled the starter again, eliminated the defects and tried to start it again, but again to no avail. Suspicion fell on a dead battery, so we decided to start it in the usual way. But that was not the case - the wheel was tightly blocked in gear. An autopsy showed: the piston was destroyed and the connecting rod was bent. In principle, I was mentally prepared to replace the piston engine from the very beginning (it’s a two-stroke engine), but I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly.

Despite the failure, I didn’t see any particular difficulties in the repair, I’m a technician after all - I ordered everything I needed, took it apart, put it back together in the reverse order, ready! But in the process of searching for spare parts, and later when I saw the price tags for them and delivery, my optimism noticeably diminished. By that time, financial problems had also arisen, so the repairs had to be postponed. As it turned out later - for a year. But more on that later.

Motorcycle Yamaha YBR 125

Article author: Moto Moto

The Yamaha YBR 125 motorcycle is a modern legend in the field of motorcycle construction. Almost every novice motorcyclist wanted to ride this unit. Yes, its small cubic capacity allows it to remain a full-fledged motorcycle, although at first some people laughed at the brainchild of Japanese engineers. The designers at one time made a real splash by combining in their creation budget components and components of a full-fledged motorcycle, such as reliability and endurance. At the moment, the motorcycle is assembled in China at a Yamaha subsidiary, but this has not affected the quality at all. It still remains at the same Japanese level, thanks to which the YBR 125 is still the cheapest Japanese motorcycle in the entire segment on the market.

You could purchase this motorcycle in 2014, and for just 80 thousand rubles you would have a trouble-free workhorse at your disposal. Motorcyclists from the USSR, whose first motorcycles were Minsk or Voskhod, were extremely pleased with the Japanese automobile industry. The thing is that domestic hardware broke almost every day and did not have the dynamics inherent in a motorcycle. The simplicity of the YBR 125V, like a corn mackerel, does not allow it to break down every day, or rather, almost never. The diamond-shaped steel frame hides inside a two-valve, single-cylinder 125 cc air-cooled engine.

The engine here is carburetor, and the drive is chain and the internal combustion engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. There is nothing noticeable about the design of the YBR 125V; it belongs more to the classic segment than to the modern one. The Japanese car's maximum speed is 110 km/h, and it accelerates to it extremely quickly. You shouldn't expect any racing records here, but the bike will certainly surprise you! Among the entire segment of budget small-capacity motorcycles, the leading positions are occupied by the Yamaha YZF-R125 and Yamaha WR 125, which have the best characteristics, but their cost is significantly higher than the simpleton YBR 125.

This motorcycle is a true workhorse of the budget segment, capable of taking the owner from the starting point to the destination point. It makes a great starting point for would-be motorcyclists looking for thrills and adrenaline. Some even manage to travel on this motorcycle, although there is nothing surprising here. The cruising range of this motorcycle is more than 400 kilometers without refueling, and no breakdowns occur while riding, although similar equipment from domestic or other manufacturers is not without breakdowns. This is a phenomenally hardy horse that can last for years without a super dose of attention. Yes, it requires some care, but it is not as capricious as domestic equipment and the most expensive foreign-made motorcycles.

Naturally, some motorcyclists eventually experience a lack of capabilities of this motorcycle, after which they decide to switch to another model. The YBR 125 is rightfully the most popular motorcycle for beginners, confidently competing with the Honda CB 400. Naturally, when purchasing this equipment, you should not expect incredible achievements from it, such that it will compete with the power of a Ducati. If you are focused on purchasing reliable, inexpensive and trouble-free equipment for everyday use, then Yamaha is what you need. Its small dimensions make it possible not to consume excessively much fuel and not hit the owner’s wallet. The motor will successfully break through any traffic jam and deliver the owner to his destination.

Buy Derbi GPR 50

This motorcycle is not particularly popular in Russia, so purchasing it may take many months of waiting. The price for which you can buy a Derbi GPR 50 starts from 50,000 rubles for a used one. 2000 model with high mileage (from 15 thousand km). A new bike will cost approximately 150 thousand rubles or 3,670 euros, the final price will depend on many factors: bike equipment, transport taxes, additional accessories, etc.

If you are a fan of sports motorcycles with a light engine capacity of 50 cubic centimeters, then you will definitely not regret buying this motorcycle, although you will spend a lot of money. Also be prepared for a long search for the right option and, possibly, problems finding spare parts (plastic body kits, etc.). Otherwise, the Derbi GPR 50 is just a good racing motorcycle, made using the latest motorcycle technology.

What can you buy without having category “A” and not be too embarrassed?!))) I’ll consider these options: Yamaha TZR 50 Aprilia RS 50 Yamasaki Scorpion Honda NS 50 F (AC08)

Approximate price tag for these “MOPEDS”, new used

Yamaha TZR 50 120/60 (for 3 years)

Aprilia RS 50
170/ 60 (for 5 years)
Yamasaki Scorpion
55/ 30 (for a year)
Honda NS 50 F
130/ 70 (for 3 years)
I’ll tell you for myself, I drove 1,2,3 variants... Aprilia and Yamaha are very revvy, allow you to turn up to 12,000, accelerate to 60 km/h quite vigorously! Yamasaki drives his 100 easily, well, everything is clear here))) although the 90 drives, and also, the sound from the can is just garbage, like on a liter one)))

Japanese engineers did their best. Even with a minimum engine capacity of 50 cubic centimeters, this motorcycle is water-cooled, electric starter, separate lubrication, 5-speed gearbox and all disc brakes. Twin headlights, clean lines, perfectly coordinated plastic body kits, all this and much more makes this motorcycle unique in its category. Some people, looking at this bike, cannot believe that it is just a 50 cc moped.
