Bombardier Outlander Max 800 has been developed and improved for more than 10 years.
Apparently, this is why it is so versatile and adapted to various conditions.
The Outlander 400 model was originally created. It was received very stormily, but the reviews always boiled down to one thing: “The engine is too weak for a two-seater unit.”
The developers got to work, and in 2005 the world saw the original model with the Rotax 800 cc engine. see. But these are already things of the past, and we will consider in detail the descendant - BRP Outlander Max 800 XT-P.

Reviews from BRP Outlander 800 owners
BRP Outlander 800, 2011
I've owned a BRP Outlander 800 for a year now. Quadruple saw snow, sea water, and mud. I took a specially powerful one to carry a jet ski, give my wife rides and climb slides - during this time there was not a single case when the BRP Outlander 800 even hinted at the possibility of a coup. During this time: I changed the oil twice (100 hour schedule). Replaced the lever (vomited from the nickels in the snow). Replaced the rear suspension bearings. I’m very glad that I have a model with hydraulic booster, when the electronics became capricious and it turned off, I was in shock - my hands got very tired. I am very pleased with the purchase. Good luck to all.
Advantages
: ROTAX engine – reliable, powerful. Most of the spare parts are suitable for cars/motorcycles. Power steering.
Flaws
: original spare parts with a BRP tag are fiercely expensive. Without an external radiator it overheats from scratch.
BRP Outlander 800, 2012
The whole season we drove the Grizzly and the BRP Outlander 800. To be honest, we didn’t even climb into the Grizzly, not a single “relay” was “buggy”. The PDU, in turn, blew my mind with its jokes, the fan relay, the all-wheel drive switching relay, the oil sensor, the thermostat. There is one thing. This is provided that our BRP Outlander 800 were like guinea pigs, then two winches were hung on them with two remote controls, then the relay block was transferred to the rear trunk, resoldering the wires. Two switchable batteries. And any trip turned into a submarine competition, everything was filled with water and mud. On the new 800s they approached tuning more competently, they didn’t do a lot of unnecessary things, and the manufacturer himself improved some things. To prevent this horse from dying, you need to do the following before each event: go through all contacts with silicone. Syringe. Check that the electrics are not hanging.
Advantages
: permeability. Controllability.
Flaws
: problems with electronics.
Outlander Max 800R EFI 2010 ATV
A two-seater all-terrain vehicle in the Outlander 800R EFI ATV line. This ATV received all the best from its predecessors; the latest technologies were used in its development. It combines the power of an 800 cc engine and maneuverability. EFI engine, it leaves no chance to its competitors!
Outlander 800R-X XC
The Can-Am Outlander 800R X was developed in close collaboration with professional racers who competed in the popular Can-Am GNCC racing series. After running several races in the series, BRP decided to apply their experience to develop the Outlander 800X.
According to the company's management team, the experience of the riders should serve as an excellent service for new generations of ATV enthusiasts. All this convincingly proves that today Can-Am is developing and offering its customers unique, specific, niche models that will be in demand. The company also listens not only to the opinions of the racers, but also to its industrial partners, which is also a rather important point that ensures the development of the models produced, as well as the company as a whole. Experts expect that the company's new models will be highly appreciated by both professionals and amateur enthusiasts.
The Outlander X test drive convincingly proves how very different this car is from the Renegade and Outlander we are used to. The model is characterized by excellent racing qualities, excellent technical characteristics, excellent design, beautiful appearance, borrowed from its predecessors. The developers were given the task: to convert ordinary 4x4 projects into modern sports cars capable of participating in speed competitions. All Can-Am models have always been endowed with sporting potential, but often buyers were still forced to choose between the Renegade and Outlander. Today Can-Am released an all-new model that is designed for users who want an ATV that embodies the best features of both machines.
Can-Am Renegade 800: Four-Wheel Enduro
This device is interesting not so much for its technical content (although it has absorbed the most advanced developments of BRP), but because it belongs to a fundamentally new class of ATVs.
Who is Renegade?
Until recently, ATVs were divided into two large classes: Sport and Utility. The first category includes lightweight rear-wheel drive sports models with high-speed motorcycle engines. They are not compared to cross-country motorcycles for the sake of a catchphrase: in modern motocross there are already separate competitions for ATV riders, and in the “Moto” class of the legendary Dakar rally marathon there is a special classification - ATV. Both in the Dakar and in cross-country racing, athletes, as a rule, compete in rear-wheel drive sports models.
The second class consists of four-wheel drive ATVs. In fact, they are what are called “all-terrain vehicles.” They are heavier, less suitable for cross-country and sports, but, due to the all-wheel drive transmission with reduction gear and differential locks, they are more passable than their sports “brothers”. These models are called utilitarian because, if desired, with the help of various additional equipment they can easily be turned into a kind of mini-tractors: they can clear the snow in front of the house, and drag a trailer with a jet ski to the lake, and on rough terrain they will give a hundred points ahead of most SUVs.
With models like the Renegade entering the market, the “class distinctions” should blur somewhat. The new product from BRP is positioned as a sports all-wheel drive model, that is, in terms of design and features of the driver’s seating position, it is a typical “athlete”, but its technical filling is actually from “utilitarians”. If, again, we resort to motorcycle terminology, then we can say that the Renegade 800 is an enduro (something between a cross-country bike and a sports bike).
Materiel
Under the plastic “body kit” of the Renegade hides a new 800 cc Rotax 4-Tec V-800 HO engine. This engine first appeared on the Can-Am Outlander Max 800 ATV of the 2006 model year, then migrated to snowmobiles of the Lynx and Ski-Doo series, and now ATV of a fundamentally new class will have to be driven.
The Rotax 4-Tec 800 is located in the brand's lineup between 650 and 1300 cc power units and replaces the previous 1.0-liter model. The two-cylinder, four-stroke engine with a V-shaped cylinder arrangement is less noisy, consumes less fuel, and produces less harmful emissions into the atmosphere than traditional two-stroke engines of the previous generation. In addition, it does not consume oil, requiring only periodic replacement.
With a working volume of 799 cubic meters. cm engine develops 65 hp. With. (which is one of the best indicators among utilitarian ATVs) and is capable of spinning up to 7250 rpm. The electronic distributed fuel injection system (EFI - Electronic Fuel Injection) with four valves per cylinder and two VDO Siemens injectors ensures reliable engine starting in the most severe frosts.
If the engine migrated to the Renegade with Outlander Max practically unchanged, then the BRP designers slightly reworked the transmission. The CVT variator still has the ability to select high and low ranges, but its settings have been changed so that an experienced rider can take turns in a controlled drift.
The design of the vehicle is based on the SST space frame, which is a solid steel structure with a powerful lower beam that allows the ATV to overcome obstacles such as logs and stones, practically rolling over them. The chassis was developed by BRP specialists in collaboration with professional racers, the main result of which was the new RS front suspension with two A-arms, the travel of which is 229 mm. The rear suspension design remains the same: its geometry has been changed, new HPG shock absorbers have been used, and the compression stroke has been increased to 254 mm.
When should we expect it?
As representatives of the Rosan Trading House, the official BRP dealer in St. Petersburg, told us, there has not yet been a presentation of the Renegade model: only photographs and technical information have been published. However, orders are already being accepted, and the first “live” devices will appear in showrooms in the spring - on the eve of the new season.

Outlander MAX XT 800R LTD 2012
If we talk about the best of the best, then we will undoubtedly talk about the Outlander 800R MAX XT Limited ATV. BRP CAN-AM MAX XT 800 Limited is a limited edition of stylish ATVs for stylish people.
BRP specialists have taken the best innovations and characteristics of their previous lines and combined them into one model. However, simply combining the best seemed insufficient to the developers. As a result, the main pride of the Outlander 800R MAX XT Limited was its powerful 800 cubic centimeter engine and maneuverability incomparable to other models in the line. Today, the Outlander 800R MAX XT Limited ATV can safely be called universal. Only this model combines a whole range of application possibilities. At the discretion of the owner, it can be intended for traveling with a passenger, transporting large cargo, or carrying a luggage box. For those who still want to use this all-terrain vehicle for its intended purpose, BRP specialists have prepared another pleasant surprise. The narrow, completely smooth SST frame, which has no analogues among its competitors, will allow the owner of the Outlander 800R MAX XT Limited to overcome any obstacle, gliding over it like on skis. The brake discs of the model are located not in the wheel hub, but on the drive shafts. This helps protect the rims from damage and dirt and reduce the unsprung weight of the wheel.
As for racing characteristics, thanks to the 4-stroke V-shaped engine 800 cm3. with EFI injection it leaves its rivals behind in all respects. Including power equal to 62 hp. The Outlander 800R MAX XT Limited also didn’t disappoint with an integral attribute of a real all-terrain vehicle – the differential lock. The impeccably proven 'Visco Lok' self-locking differential and independent suspension with a ground clearance of 30.5 cm with a minimum number of parts, reinforced at the rear with torsion bar stiffness arms, allow you to forget about lock switches and maintain course regardless of the speed and nature of the terrain.
All of the above characteristics can certainly be considered as advantages. The conclusion here is obvious - the Outlander 800R MAX XT Limited is the most modern all-terrain vehicle available on the market today, leaving no chance for its competitors.

ATV Outlander MAX 800 XT-P 2013
If you find off-road driving too harsh, then when you sit in the Outlander MAX 800 XT-P, you will understand what real softness is. After all, there are gas shock absorbers, and they are installed not only in the front, but also in the rear, which guarantees a pleasant ride in any case. Do not forget also that this method of transportation is also good because of the ATV itself, which is assembled almost entirely from aluminum, and even its wheels are also made from this light metal. The braking system, where each wheel has a series of sensitive sensors, allows you to stop the ATV even on steep descents, so you will never find yourself in an unpleasant situation while behind the wheel of the Outlander MAX 800 XT-P.
Owner reviews
- After the 650th model, I decided to take something more powerful. Since I am already familiar with BRP, the choice fell on this manufacturer. Of all the models, I liked the Outlander Max 800, both for its technical characteristics and price. This ATV has really impressive cross-country ability; in winter you can even install special tracks on it, which is what I’m thinking of doing in the future. Among the shortcomings I would like to mention the brakes. They themselves are rather weak, and in winter my pads jammed several times. The first time was in the garage, then I managed to solve this problem, and the second time I was already on the road and because of this, the pads heated up to such an extent that the brake fluid hose caught fire, fortunately I managed to put it out in time. Otherwise the car is completely satisfactory.
- In its price segment, the BRP Can-am Outlander Max 800 ATV is perhaps one of the best and at the same time has excellent performance characteristics. The model is very good on the move, handling and cross-country ability are excellent. I really liked the traction; climbing up hills is quite easy. In principle, the BRP is worth the money.

Eight hundred from Bombardier, which is not yet represented on the Russian market with electric power steering.
The Outlander MAX 800R EFI XT-P ATV is the legendary 800 from BRP Can Am of 2010, which will appear in Russia only at the end of 2009 - beginning of 2010. A two-seater model, fully equipped, with the addition of the much-awaited electric power steering feature. The new plastic covers on the black body look great. Reinforced winch BRP XL3000 with remote control. Reinforced front and rear bumpers and fenders. The wheels are on black XT-P-specific aluminum rims with color-matched inserts. Hand protection. The digital display has a digital safety function (DESS) built into it. Reinforced steel posts. WildFlight is ready to deliver this ATV model today, call right now and order an ATV that no one else has in Russia.
Video
The model has wide and large wheels, which, in addition to cross-country ability, also significantly improves the appearance. The Outlander Max 800 BRP uses a rather interesting design that protects the driver’s body in the event of a fall with special shields.
It should be noted that the ATV initially has a double seat, but if this is not necessary, it is fashionable to install a spacious luggage compartment instead of the passenger one. But such an opportunity did not arise immediately, since the first models had several configurations with a choice of seats, and as practice has shown, it is the two-seater versions that are in greatest demand, which later established such a standard.
The device turned out to be quite maneuverable. To a large extent, this indicator was influenced by the increase in power, thanks to which the equipment can climb almost any slope without much difficulty. However, descending is a little more difficult, since the mass of the ATV gives it even greater acceleration. Therefore, at first, this can cause a loss of composure for inexperienced drivers.
The equipment is suitable for any operating conditions, due to its impressive reliability. This was achieved through the use of second generation space beam technology. In addition to reliability and safety, this also had a positive effect on the appearance of the ATV, making it even more stylish.
In 2015, and it was then that a deep modernization of this model was introduced to the motorcycle market, the ATV was one of the most anticipated, which is explained by the combination of high comfort, durability and speed.
In many of its parameters, the BRP Can-am Outlander Max 800 is quite close to the sports versions, and thanks to its reliability, the equipment has proven itself to be a multifunctional station wagon.
As additional options, the manufacturer offers installation:
- Additional reinforcement for the front and rear bumpers. It is worth noting that this option is often used by travelers.
- New Carlisle ATV tires, identical to standard sizes.
- FOX PODIUM high pressure gas shock absorbers.
- New alloy wheels made of aluminum and equipped with beadlocks.
- Three-range dynamic power steering.
- Quick-release locking front center differential of the front wheels.
- Roller cable laying mechanism with winch and remote control.
ATV Outlander Max 800 DPS 2013
A seat for a passenger will be very useful here, because this model, although it has sufficient power, can carry not only the driver himself. It has decent dimensions to accommodate a second person, who, by the way, is given a place of honor at a higher level. So get ready for the fact that when riding without a helmet you will catch flies and bees with all the orifices of your body, because the speed that this ATV will develop will not seem small to you. Therefore, Outlander Max 800 DPS will make you a real racer in just a few minutes, when you understand how gently you need to turn the sensitive steering wheel of this unprecedented beast. Otherwise he is very calm.
BRP Outlander 800: powerful Canadian
BRP Outlander 800 is an ATV developed by a Canadian company for outdoor activities and tourism. The first model of the device appeared in 2007 and was equipped with a 62 hp engine, a winch, independent suspension and a tank with a capacity of 20 liters. The technique has proven itself to be a reliable, but restive horse. At high speeds, the rider had to constantly maintain course, which negatively affected comfort.
However, a number of shortcomings did not stop the company from further developing the device. Over the course of 10 years, the Canadian brand has released 8 more modifications of the all-terrain vehicle, differing in both configuration and technical characteristics.
Based on the BRP 800, a model was created:
- Outlander 800 XT. The car was presented at the end of 2007. The equipment is equipped with a V-shaped engine with a volume of 800 cc. cm, electric starter, independent suspension, disc brakes and a gas tank with a capacity of 20 liters. The device differed from the base model only in its configuration.
- BRP 800 MAX. Overall, this is a base model with an extended body kit. In technical terms, the devices are no different. An interesting feature of the ATV is its flexible configuration. In new versions of the device, the buyer can choose a single or double seat, the number of trunks, a backrest, etc.
- Outlander Max 800 XT. The equipment differs from the regular 800 model in its expanded configuration. The delivery set includes a seat with a backrest, a powerful bump stop, mirrors, etc. The car is ideal for tourism and driving on difficult routes: wetlands, mud, small streams, clay, snow, sand.
Other models, such as BRP 800 R, 800 HO EFI LTD, 800 Max XT LTD and 800 R Max XT, differ only in the scope of delivery and minor design changes. More noticeable modifications are observed only in the BRP 800 XMR ATV. The car has a 71 hp engine, a 16.3 liter gas tank, an EFI electronic fuel supply system, tires for heavy off-road driving, an automatic transmission, etc.
Main competitors of BRP Outlander 800
The Canadian manufacturer of PDUs is the world market leader in the production of off-road equipment. The company's machines are distinguished by their reliability, power and functionality. For example, the BRP XMR 800 can be used for transporting goods, expeditions, tourism or racing. But despite the high quality and versatility, the technology has a lot of competitors.
Instead of the Outlander 800 BRP, many buyers choose:
- BRP Outlander 1000 XMR. This is a more massive and powerful vehicle, which is ideal for driving through swamps, mountains, mud, etc. A predatory all-terrain vehicle with a 976 cc engine. cm, equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable ride. Considering that 1000 XMR of 2021 will cost 1.6 million rubles, and the 800th model costs 1.2 million rubles, the choice is obvious.
- Polaris Sportsman Unlike Canadian vehicles, American Polaris all-terrain vehicles are designed for a smoother and more comfortable ride. The Sportster 850 is not inferior to the Outlander in power or cross-country ability, but wins in handling and versatility. Another plus for an American is the affordable price. Advantages and disadvantages of the model
The device has several significant disadvantages, which were noted by all users:
- High price. Not every buyer can afford to buy an ATV for 1.2 million rubles.
- Heavy weight. The car climbs hills with ease, but problems arise when descending. Due to the large mass of the device it becomes practically uncontrollable. Therefore, the owner should bleed the brakes.
- Maintainability. Original parts for the device cost a lot of money, and besides, finding spare parts is not so easy. Even if you order components from a dealer, their delivery will take several months.
However, all the disadvantages pale in comparison to the advantages. The main advantage of the device is its incredible maneuverability. The car will drive anywhere, be it mountains, swamps or small rivers. Owners will also be pleased with additional equipment: skis, tracks, etc. can be installed on the ATV. The all-terrain vehicle can also be used for clearing snow, towing cargo, and cultivating the garden.
