The control, although mechanical, is quite acceptable: the transmission is 4-speed, a chain is installed (under the casing). The spinal type frame is made of steel. The front and rear tire sizes are 2.50–17 and 2.75–17, respectively.
Where were the Orion moped models developed?
The basic designs of the Orion family of models, as well as their engines, were developed by the Japanese company Honda. Mopeds made in China using these Japanese technologies have long been known on the Russian market and enjoy deserved popularity. The similarity of the Stels “Orion” models with the well-known Chinese analogues of the “Alpha” and “Delta” types is no coincidence, and there are no fundamental differences between them, however, the Russian company strives to expand the Chinese model range through its own development of new configurations, affecting both the chassis and design elements. "Orion" is a moped that should have the widest range of applications on Russian roads. The Japanese prototype contained such successful technical solutions that made it possible to create models of light, universal-purpose motorcycles based on them.
Security measures
The designers of the Stealth brand approached the safety of the moped with full responsibility. The fuel tank cap, steering wheel lock and engine start can be unlocked with one key. Typically, in order to get moving, you first need to open the gas tap and turn the enrichment device to the on position. I was very surprised by the “new thing”, unconventional for a gas tank flag, its horizontal position means “reserve”. While, as usual, everyone is accustomed to thinking that after Soviet motorcycles and mopeds the position is “closed”.
Additional Orion 100 Features
The Orion's instrument panel was both pleasing and disappointing. Good tachometer and large, easy to read speedometer dial. However, during the day it is completely impossible to see whether the control lights and the gear indicator are on. There was also no place for a fuel gauge on the dashboard. Also, adjusting the motorcycle clutch does not cause problems. Compact dimensions and low weight (only 84 kilograms) make the Orion 100 very maneuverable in city traffic. Thanks to the elastic characteristics of the motor, you rarely have to switch from gear to gear. The gear ratios in the gearbox are excellent. Second gear is just perfect for overcoming bad sections of the road. Orion simply performs great on rough country roads. Thanks to the high-torque power of the engine and the tires, you can travel even where ordinary motorcycles could not even dream of doing so. The bottom line is that the Orion 100 turned out to be just a very good workhorse. Of course, you shouldn’t expect much from him, but he does his job, and does it well.

As soon as you sit on the moped, you immediately feel a high-quality seat with a thick layer of cushion filler. Such things are always found on expensive equipment, but here on the budget Orion it is provided. The seat length is 570 mm, a comfortable ride can be carried out simultaneously for the driver and passenger. Due attention must be given to the suspension. The rear shock absorbers are based on the hydraulic principle. Their penetration is unlikely, but damping still appears. In general, sometimes you want to specifically “catch” a hole and feel the quality of the rear suspension. With the front shock absorbers, everything is not so good; they work at 3-plus. But they are complemented by large wheels, which are indispensable on poor off-road conditions.
The dashboard rationally accommodates the tachometer and speedometer in a large size. Its disadvantage is poor visibility during daylight hours. There is no fuel level indicator at all, which is a big drawback. Sometimes you lose count, that is, you forget what gear you are in. This is “helped” by the same weak diodes on the instrument panel.
The foot brake causes a lot of inconvenience. It is located very low, it often scrapes against the road surface when taking sharp turns. The braking system is quite reliable; disc brakes give no reason to think about their ineffectiveness.
The cost of this moped may vary, but on average you can buy an Orion Stealth 100 moped for 40,000 - 45,000 thousand rubles. Overall, the equipment is worth purchasing. Cost-effectiveness, high maneuverability and ease of operation really encourage a bargain purchase, especially since the price of the Orion Stealth 100 is insignificant.
Why use Orion 100
They can’t boast about it to their friends; few girls would want to ride such a hybrid either. This technology is clearly not for fun, but transporting any cargo or going fishing is the right place for Orion. The moped, however, is not at all as simple as it seems. The luxurious seat, covered with non-slip material, would be the envy of other motorcycles. But the main advantage of the Orion 100 is the suspension. Quite impressive rear shock absorbers have hydraulics, adjustable spring preload, and the spring itself comes with a variable coiling pitch. The Orion's steering wheel is wide and high. The seating position is straight, which avoids fatigue during long journeys. The “manual” clutch, although alarming, shifts gears clearly, without additional effort.

There are two main variations in the Orion family of models, differing in frame shape and gas tank configuration. Models with a universal frame, which have a metal luggage basket above the gas tank, belong to type “A” and are equipped with engines from 50 to 100 cc. cm.
This is a very popular moped - “Orion”, its price ranges from 17 to 23 thousand rubles. Thanks to its high cross-country ability and convenient layout of the trunk on the frame, this model is especially loved by Russian buyers from rural areas. The Orion 50 (72) A moped can have wheels with both alloy wheels and spokes. The engine installed on this model is very easy to modify by replacing the piston group with a more powerful version. Functional differences in the Orion moped family

Thanks to various engine options, which differ quite significantly in terms of energy output, these motorcycles can have speed characteristics comparable to light motorcycles. Thanks to their low weight and large wheels, these lightweight motorcycles move well over rough terrain and on dirt roads. In urban conditions, when it is necessary to maneuver among traffic jams, Orions are comparable in handling to ordinary bicycles. But differences in the power of power plants impose certain limitations. Models with 50 cc engines cm (49 cc according to documents) are more convenient for use in rural areas when driving on a dirt road at low speed. They are too slow for the city and highway, although they have some advantages in fuel economy and in the absence of the need to have a license with a category that allows driving motorcycles. According to traffic rules, “Orions” with such engines are real mopeds. All other versions of the Orions should be considered light motorcycles, which require the appropriate license to operate. The most powerful Orions, capable of accelerating to hundreds of km/h, are the most versatile options, which are suitable for driving around the city and highway, as well as on dirt roads and rough terrain.
