The Stels ATV 450 HiSun ​​ATV is the youngest model among the utilitarian line of HiSun ​​all-terrain vehicles. This ATV was developed jointly with the Russian and Chinese “HiSUN”. In terms of technical characteristics, this all-terrain vehicle is similar to older models, namely Stealth 500 and Stealth 700. But at the same time, the 450th model has a power plant in which the displacement has been reduced.

The main purpose of this ATV is primarily tourist trips, active recreation, as well as walks, but thanks to its technical capabilities, the model can also overcome off-road conditions. Stealth ATV 450 Haysan is equipped with a comfortable double seat, providing optimal seating for long trips for both driver and passenger. The versatility of the equipment also lies in the fact that in addition to the above applications, the machine can also be used for sports competitions. This was facilitated by fairly high engine power, high ground clearance, excellent handling and maneuverability, and stability in maneuvers at high speed.

The transmission system has several operating modes, namely: two-wheel rear-wheel drive (2RWD), all-wheel drive (4WD), as well as all-wheel drive with forced locking of center differentials (4WD differential gear lock). These modes, in comparison with 2WD models, provide the vehicle with increased safety and improved driving characteristics, especially cross-country ability.

The Stels ATV 450 HiSun ​​ATV, like most other models, uses an independent double-wishbone suspension design, both front and rear. The suspension includes A-arms and spring-hydraulic shock absorbers. A distinctive feature of this model is significantly increased comfort and this is explained by the fact that the suspensions work well on various surfaces and absorb strong impacts.

The technical characteristics of the stealth 450 motorcycles, as well as their design, deserve detailed consideration:

Achieving the motorcycle's low weight was due to the use of aluminum for the frame and other structural parts. The model contains minimal plastic covering - mainly to protect the engine components and lighting fixtures, as well as the wings and seat. The powerful 4-stroke 450 cc engine with efficient liquid cooling is capable of producing a maximum of 30 hp. pp., which is quite enough for enduro equipment.

The appearance of the motorcycle is very reminiscent of Chinese two-wheeled SUVs, but despite this, the appearance of the stels 450 has its own highlight - a small windshield fairing and spectacular lighting fixtures at the front.

Plastic in the casing is extremely rare; protective elements for the engine, seat and wings, as well as optics, are made from it. The 4-stroke engine, equipped with liquid cooling and having a fairly large power reserve, is capable of unleashing thirty “horses”, which is quite enough for a light enduro motorcycle.

Externally, the Stels 450 Enduro resembles its Chinese counterparts, but it still has some significant differences. Spectacular head optics and front fairing make it stand out from other enduro motorcycles.

Stels 450 Enduro, 2013

I bought a Stels 450 Enduro, I ride it and I’m happy with it. To avoid any stupid questions like what I rode before, I’ll say right away that that season I rode a Yamaha TTR OE. Yes, I switched from Japanese to China and, as it turned out, quite successfully. Now the mileage is 300 km. What I did and when, and what I didn’t like. I changed the oil after 50 km in the engine and after 60 in the gearbox. I immediately lubricated the air filter; it was soaked with some kind of oil from the factory, which, due to long periods of inactivity, simply dripped into the bottom of the filter. I broke the “motor stop” lever during the first fall; I didn’t like the design right away, because it’s not a button, but a flag of some kind. I lifted the Stels 450 Enduro and tore off this flag with my finger. I arrived at the garage, disassembled the remote control and realized that it couldn’t be fixed; it would be better to do it differently. I got a new stop engine, I saw these on cross-country bikes, there’s a round button, you press it and the motorcycle stalls. The assembly, of course, evokes different emotions. On one side, everything is tight and it is very difficult to unscrew some of the bolts. But for me, and as I understood after talking with other owners of this equipment, the subframe was installed crookedly from the factory, I can’t get around to fixing it, and I can smell the bolts there, because I couldn’t unscrew them the first time. Although the differences between the Stels 450 Enduro and its “Fast and Furious” analogue are not big, I will describe what was fixed on the Stels. Normal clutch cable. The decompressor has been improved, now there are no problems with starting. The clutch rod is hardened (like on a Honda), but on the Forsage it simply deformed from the loads. The clutch springs are a little softer than on the Fast and the Furious, but still after 100 km the clutch became very tight. There are 2 solutions: immediately order springs from Honda, price around 300 rubles per piece, place washers under the spring bolts. I chose the second (temporary) solution, because I need to roll, and ordering only springs is not interesting.

  1. I owned another model and purchased a new Stealth ATV 450 Haysan as a replacement. Compared to its predecessor, this model has significantly expanded functionality. The independent suspension does not hit you in the back during strong impacts and does not hang on the rear axle in a rut. The suspension turned out to be a little more demanding in terms of maintenance, but it doesn’t hurt your pocket significantly. I was especially pleased with the low gear, which is an important necessity for such ATVs, and the locking front differential, which often came to the rescue in difficult situations. In terms of maintenance, Haysan is easier when searching for the necessary spare parts, since almost all components are quite widespread. The equipment has impressive stability, excellent maneuverability, as well as reliability, which is the main thing for me.
  2. I purchased this ATV new for 165 thousand rubles. My configuration had everything basic, but this was quite enough for regular driving through the forest. The power unit of the Stealth ATV 450 Haysan is quite good. It showed itself excellently in terms of endurance, reliability, and, of course, power. The dynamics of the model left a positive impression, the ATV accelerates very easily, and the presence of a passenger on board does not in any way affect the dynamics, which pleasantly surprised me. During the entire period of operation, I did not find any significant shortcomings in the model, but there were still some faults with the electrical wiring that did not cause much difficulty in solving. I've been using it for over 3 years now. I mostly go fishing, but sometimes I just enjoy driving around the area, fortunately there are many beautiful places in my area.

Returning back to the city, I started looking at advertisements and I really liked the Stealth ATV 450 Haysan, because it suited me both in terms of its cost and technical characteristics, and there were a lot of positive reviews about it. I bought the car used, but with low mileage. Before leaving, I checked all the parts and connections, changed the working fluids and the air filter. On the move, the ATV performed very well. It confidently picks up speed and also copes well with bumps and various road obstacles. Its cross-country ability is at a fairly high level, since the winch has not yet been used. The car brings a lot of driving pleasure. I am quite pleased with my new acquisition, I plan to improve it in the future, I plan to install mirrors and a windshield.

Not everyone likes its appearance, which clearly resembles the famous Honda bike CRF 450X. But there are too many budget bikes out there like this model (like the Forsage 450) for there to be any serious conversation about personal styling.

When buying a new Stealth 450 motorcycle, you should carefully examine not only the exterior, but also look inside. Experienced racers advise disassembling the unit and retightening the bolts. On models that come off the production line, fasteners are often found to be poorly designed. The problem can be solved, just tinker with the new thing for a couple of evenings.

Test drive Forsage450 Enduro

In such segments of the domestic motorcycle market as scooters and ATVs, vehicles from the Middle Kingdom have long occupied their stable niche. But the motorcycles of our Chinese comrades are unable to gain a worthy market position in Russia.

Why this happens is a separate question. There are quite a lot of assumptions and hypotheses. In my opinion, the closest explanation to the truth is that most buyers of scooters and ATVs are generally far from the motorcycle world and do not have a religious admiration for products under famous brands. Many ATV riders are even ready to correct design mistakes made by Chinese engineers at the model development stage with their own hands.

Bikers are also not averse to waving wrenches, but not by fixing some problem, but by improving the performance of a specific component or assembly. Agree, correcting and improving are actions that are fundamentally different from each other. So when I got behind the wheel of the Forsage 450 Enduro, I wanted to answer only one question: will it require fundamental improvements or will it be limited to local improvements. Well, honestly, no one expected that this Chinese clone of the very successful Honda 450X enduro racing model would go stock like its Japanese progenitor. Actually, a miracle did not happen. The Forsage 450 Enduro is still a long way from the Honda 450X. Although "Chinese" has good potential for growth.

Build quality is a solid four (with a superficial inspection). Appearance is a priori a controversial issue, but someone will definitely like it. The first complaint about the Forsage 450 Enduro: the standard tires need to be changed, there will be fewer falls and bruises. The brakes are quite enough for a beginning endurist, but with experience comes speed, so it makes sense to immediately get used to excellent brakes, and not just good ones. Ergonomics: tough, not comfortable, the fifth point is narrow, but the model handles incomparably, here the Chinese went to great lengths and copied everything down to the millimeter from the Honda 450X. The frame and overall weight distribution are also absolutely “Japanese”.

The Forsage engine is “strangled” by a Chinese carburetor to drive at a “school” pace. For what? The answer was received approximately so as not to frighten the potential client. Forsage 450 Enduro is positioned as a device for beginners. For those who find the engine not enough, a special tuning kit has been prepared: a Japanese carburetor and a direct-flow muffler, which will ensure the appearance of 44 “horses” on the wheel, and this is very good. The cost for an improvement (yes, an improvement, not a correction) of the Forsage 450 Enduro is approximately this: 15,000 rubles. for Kehin carburetor, 19,000 rubles. for the muffler, and about 6000–8000 for the tires. As a result, for 180,000–190,000 rubles. We get a “war horse” prepared for high-level enduro. But the most interesting thing: if after purchasing Forsage there is no money left to “improve” it, then for a person just taking his first steps in the world of enduro, the stock version will be enough to master the basics of driving a motorcycle off-road.
