If you ask, what is BMX? Most people will say that this is a bicycle. Well, at least a special subtype of it. What if you make a BMX motorcycle ? At the same time, it’s not easy for a moped to be a bicycle with a motor, but a full-fledged road bike? This is exactly the question that Yamaha became interested in at the beginning of this century.
A few years later (according to some sources, already in 2001 ), in 2004, the Yamaha Tricker 250 appeared on the market. Lightweight, maneuverable, a real sport , but with an enduro focus. At the same time, he beats the representatives of the latter trend in almost all respects.

The engine of such a motorcycle had special requirements:
- it should create good torque;
- have low power (enduro);
- don't be angry.
And the Japanese succeeded . The bike received a motor from an equally well-known development of the brand, which was already listed as a competitor - Yamaha Serrow. It was rebuilt, retuned and began to be installed on a new motorcycle.

But if you consider that the bike was initially positioned for domestic sales, these numbers are indicated in the Japanese manner. At the same time, Tricker is one of the few models in which users from other countries also report the same numbers.
For example, in Moscow conditions the consumption is 2-2.5 liters . The average distance on one gas station is 150 km .
The compact placement of the fuel tank paired with the optimal handlebar height makes the ergonomics of the bike very comfortable for riding both standing and sitting.

Peculiarities
The seat of the bike is located unusually low for an enduro, which makes the model very comfortable even for short riders.
Since the motorcycle has become extraordinary, its features can also be classified as such. The owners note:
- slide down the stairs , climb onto a high curb, jump onto the sidewalk - the possibilities are limited only by the skill of the pilot;
- ideal for traffic jams - it squeezes even where other road workers are forced to stand;
- light weight - this quality is often noted by girl bikers;
- good handling and excellent maneuverability .
As many who have had a chance to ride say, it’s simply impossible not to misbehave on such a bike, even if only once in your life.
Estimated cost
Of course, it’s difficult to perceive the Yamaha Tricker 250 as a full-fledged road motorcycle; rather, it is another opportunity for the owner to have fun.
But this is exactly what it is designed for, so this motorcycle has found worthy use among extreme sports enthusiasts.
This motorcycle is now almost never found at official dealers , although its production continues.
But you can find it on the secondary market , both from early years of production and modern ones.

Yamaha XG250 Tricker Review
The motorcycle is relatively low-powered and lightweight. While driving, you can feel its flexible character, light weight and ease of control. This is why this motorcycle is suitable even for a beginner.
This is a universal motorcycle that can please its owner. Due to its small dimensions, it is very maneuverable and comfortable; you can drive between two rows of cars without any problems, since it is quite narrow. You can also easily avoid obstacles without removing your feet from the footrests. The developers also provided space for a passenger.
When driving off-road, the suspension and wheelbase will show their positive qualities, which allow you to lift the front wheel, jump, maneuver and be in a stable position. Grass, sand, slides, holes, snow and ice are no problem.
However, it is worth considering that this model is not intended for long trips. This is due to the small gas tank and the inconvenience of the saddle. It is also not suitable for road racing due to its low power.
