Design
Viper Wind is a classic “stool”. The scooter is as lightweight as possible and has small dimensions. Available in three standard colors - blue, red and black.
The only facing material is plastic. Unfortunately, the “wings” are not particularly durable, so after a collision and rollover at speed, they will most likely need to be completely replaced.
There is a small trunk under the seat. All sorts of small things will fit there; a backpack or helmet definitely won’t fit. A mount for a trunk is provided. It is strong, no additional reinforcement is required.

On the left, on the shaft of the box, sits a basket with alternating disks, thin iron and thick getinaks. They are pressed against each other using 5 (or 6) massive springs.
Getinaks disks are connected to the basket (and, through the motor chain and 2 sprockets with the crankshaft), and the iron ones are connected to the gearbox shaft (and, through the gearbox, practically to the wheel). The springs are so powerful that all the power of the engine, without slipping (and the disks are all in oil) is transmitted to the rear wheel.
Next, when you press the clutch lever, the cable pulls the lever (it sits on the right engine cover - look), which pushes the steel rod (it passes through the axis of the drive sprocket, you can take it out and turn it in your hands), and this rod rests on that part a basket with disks, which is connected to the getinax disks, and they, overcoming the resistance of the pressing springs, move away from the metal disks. That's it, the clutch is loose. The engine with its getinaks disks rotates on its own, the steel ones with the gearbox stand still.
Attention! There is more than one push rod. There are 2 of them, and between them there is a ball from the bearing (eliminates rotational force)
Easily lost! Be careful when disassembling, otherwise you will end up with a failed clutch.
Now about the adjustments.
The clutch is adjusted NOT ON THE HANDLE, but by changing the force of pressing the discs against each other. The free play of the cable is simply selected on the handle.
The force of pressing the disks against each other is regulated by preloading the springs, on which, for adjustment, “fungi” with a groove for a large flat-head screwdriver are put on.

Engine
The Viper wind scooter has a simple 4-stroke GY-80 engine. The same is found on models Booster, Fabius, Grand Prix, Legend, Race, Storm, ZipR3, Mustang, Navigator, Spark, Keeway. Perhaps this is the most expensive “spare part” in a moped. If you need to completely replace it, you will have to pay approximately 15,800 rubles for the engine. Individual parts of the power plant are cheap. For example, a 10″ NZR variator cover can be purchased for 1,100 rubles, a 139QMB relay-regulator with a square cross-section can be purchased for 240 rubles.
Brake system
The brake system of the Viper wind is presented in the form of a disc mechanism at the front and a drum mechanism at the rear, operated by handles on the steering wheel (there are no pedals). They do their job well - they stop the moped instantly. The only downside worth noting is that the rear brakes wear out quickly, they have to be tightened to the maximum and the worn out pads have to be regularly changed.
Frame
The Viper wind moped has a steel tubular frame. It is made in such a way that you do not need to throw your legs over the seats, they must be placed in front of you. The frame successfully combines low mass with high rigidity (bending, but not torsion). It has an open design, which makes it easy to repair.
Suspension
The Viper Wind has two strong rear struts and this is a big advantage - they work well. The front "feathers", unfortunately, are easily pierced, so the driver will feel the unevenness of the road well. The shaking is not critical, but it makes it difficult to ride a scooter for many hours.
Transmission
The motor and transmission in a scooter are combined into one unit, creating a kind of pendulum. The V-belt variator allows you to do without changing gears, which is very convenient - especially for beginners who choose a Wind scooter as their first vehicle.
Chassis
This modest Chinese scooter has high-quality wheels, which makes it possible to install tubeless tires. The wheels are durable, even with intensive use they last for 5-6 years. Maintenance and repair
The scooter will only work properly if used carefully and regularly maintained. For example, you need to change the engine oil at least 2 times a year (after driving 1000 km). The air filter in a scooter quickly becomes clogged, so once every 3-4 months it should be cleaned of dust, otherwise contamination will lead to a decrease in engine power and increased fuel consumption.
As for repairs, you should prepare - they will be required regularly. Viper Wind is a budget “Chinese”; for that kind of money it cannot have heavy-duty parts. The following repairs are most often required:
- Replacing the ignition coil - it may “fly off” already during the running-in of the scooter, but this is not a problem, since in this case it can be replaced free of charge under warranty.
- Replacing the variator belt . It almost always stretches or tears after traveling 4000-5000 km. To replace it, you can buy a Drive belt 669 x 18 JWBP, it costs about 600 rubles.
- Repair of a piston engine that cannot withstand driving in too hot weather in traffic jams. If you need to replace it, you can buy any piston assembly with a 13 mm pin - it costs 580-650 rubles.
- Replacing the battery , which, for example, is needed if the alarm is used too often (it eats up a lot of charge). Tip: Make a parking switch so you don't have to constantly climb and remove terminals.
- Replacing drives on the dashboard . On average, they burn out after a year of using a scooter. They are inexpensive - for example, a speedometer drive for a 12 mm axle can be bought for 200 rubles.
- Repairing the fuel tank . If you can’t put a patch on the holes, you can buy a whole one for 1,250 rubles. Please note that the tank is not equipped with a lid and sensor; they must be purchased separately.
- Replacement of optics and glass , which in Viper Wind are not particularly durable. You can buy a pair of orange “turns” for 500-600 rubles, “stop” glass for 230 rubles, a set of headlights – from 2200 rubles.
On the Chinese Viper Wind scooter, one of the main problems is the misalignment of the valve clearance settings. If the moped does not start completely, then the reason may be a burnt out exhaust valve. This unit constantly requires adjustment and checking, otherwise a progressive decrease in power will be observed.
You can adjust the valves yourself:
- The plastic and cooling casing should be removed;
- Unscrew the cylinder head;
- To check the clearance, you need to set the piston to TDC;
- Rotate the crankshaft until the two striped holes are parallel to the cylinder and the large hole is on top.
- If everything is installed correctly, you will not be able to turn the valve rocker arm wrench - they will be stationary.
Clutch operating principle
Thus, the main structural elements of the clutch include drive and driven discs, springs, and drive mechanisms. Dry single-disc or double-disc clutches have drive discs connected to the flywheel. For proper operation of the second type of clutch discs, a moped clutch basket is required, into which the discs are placed. The basket is also called a casing, which is driven by a primary transmission. In order to increase the friction of the discs, a special friction material is applied to their working parts. It often happens that high-strength plastic is used to make several disks of the same type.
The role of the crankshaft
The crankshaft transmits torque to the gearbox through the operation of the engaged clutch. This is due to the fact that in this case the clutch discs, both driving and driven, are tightly pressed to each other using springs.
If the pilot exerts force on the moped lever located on the handlebar, which disengages the clutch, then he thereby influences the drive (mechanical or hydraulic). The operation of this drive is as follows - it moves the clutch release rod or bearing, which separates the clutch discs from each other. Thus, the discs stop rubbing strongly against each other, as a result of which torque stops being transmitted from the crankshaft to the gearbox.
Most mopeds are equipped with a clutch, which is controlled manually by operating a lever located on the left handlebar. However, there are also models that are equipped with an automatic clutch. In the case of the latter, there is no lever on the steering wheel; the engine and transmission are connected and disconnected through the operation of a centrifugal machine. In such designs, the engine crankshaft speed acts as a setting parameter. It is worth noting that mopeds, as well as scooters in combination with a V-belt variator, are very often equipped with an automatic transmission.
Thus, the clutch performs an extremely important function in the operation and movement of the vehicle. It requires, like all other parts, careful care and timely adjustment and replacement. However, no matter how good the clutch care is, there still comes a time when it becomes necessary to adjust it or even change it altogether. The clutch is replaced in cases where there are very specific indications for this or when the adjustment did not help.
Peculiarities
The VIPER-R1 motorcycle is one of the most popular and anticipated two-wheeled transporters. The exterior of the model looks impressive and modern. The vehicle is ideally designed in terms of dynamics. The engine unit has a capacity of 250 cubic meters, a power of 12 horses, and is equipped with an air-oil compressor. The manual transmission is standard with five speeds.
The first speed is switched down, the others – in the upper position. The design is well-crafted, the seams and joints are neat, the plastic base of the case is coated with an anti-corrosion agent. The rear 130 tire holds the road perfectly. The same part houses disc brakes and a piston caliper. At the front there are telescopic forks, disc brakes and two-piston support. The Racer Viper motorcycle is considered soft, perfect for city trails and sports tracks. The fuel tank holds about 14 liters of gasoline.
The passenger and driver do not experience any inconvenience when boarding. It is possible to hold on to special handles and fix your feet on retractable footrests, which increases comfort and safety. The steering column of the V250-R1 is on non-adjustable clip-ons, that is, the steering is always tuned to a sporty style. The modern instrument panel will appeal to even experienced bikers. The speed indicators are visible on the left; the tachometer has found its place in the middle.
