The growing interest in choppers and the appearance of a large number of bikers by the early 90s influenced the decision of the engineers of the Irbit Motorcycle Plant (IMZ) to design the Ural Voyage motorcycle. This was the first attempt to create an American-style . Unfortunately, experts’ views on the concept of “American style” differed greatly. Therefore, Voyage, created in 1996, was not widely used.
Short story
Since in Soviet times it was difficult to purchase overseas equipment, Voyage, which appeared at the Moscow exhibition, immediately gained popularity among the biker movement. It was considered as a vehicle for transportation, but later became a motorcycle for long-term use in various conditions. Its technical characteristics made it possible to transport passengers and cargo, and its good cross-country ability made it possible to travel off-road.
In addition, the amount of improved technical equipment was impressive. Innovative changes affected almost all working elements of the unit. The brakes were improved, an electric starter was installed, new optics were installed, and even the saddle became more comfortable.

Give feedback on whether it’s worth buying or not, with comments, if possible, stix,
what do you need it for?
Around the city alone!!! to parade or go on a long trip with Full Load!!! fly? The first option is WOLF, the second is VOYAGE. We just have to make sure that VOYAGE from the Volkovskaya checkpoint doesn’t turn up. They look the same. They differ in gear ratios. The Dimson
Wolf is the best motorcycle produced by the domestic motorcycle industry - and that says it all. I bought it recently, used, with 11,000 km on it - and I know for sure that when I come to the garage it will start and go, and go well.

, what the hell is there to say .. good bike .. in good hands it stays very up to par ..

I’ve been using it ... for three seasons ... the device is decent .. whoever says anything against it, like I’ll rip your head off!
... the front pontoon wing is a bit high - it floods the ignition.. just wait, let it dry, then let's go... even this season I got the generator.. right now it's like the fourth one in a row - one big deal - the generator seal is leaking.. although I've already changed it.. this is happening (while my native was standing, there was no such crap) when driving at high speeds, in long-range driving.. moving around the city, nothing leaks.. and in general, nothing leaks on the Wolf, everything is done great.. doesn’t consume oil.. in long-range driving, I first I took oil.. I don’t take it right now.. if it’s for the brothers.. by the way.. I carry a lot of things with me in panniers.. like I get technical assistance;-).. another small joint - the Volchok has a low ground clearance.. especially when loaded .. so it’s not very convenient to endurve on it, but you have to... because... roads end at ponds or in clearings! and after the rain it’s finally kaput.. but it goes! you just have to drag your feet along the ground to hold it ;-) that’s why I don’t like cats.. ugh.. tops! In any case, this bike is for asphalt! Now about the controls... on the road it stands like an iron... you'll throw the hell off course! it doesn’t take turns willingly.. …the engine has sufficient power and rushes like a tank.. it’s very impressive when it goes at a speed of 120 km per hour.. and swaying smoothly on the waves of the road.. indescribable sensations! just a song...!!! consumption is 6 liters per hundred... I have another very useful thing built in - reverse gear... it helps a lot!!! I recommend it... well, an electric starter is also a thing! the light is awesome.. a big spendthrift for big guys! and most importantly, after altering the saddles... it became, as they say... a full-size 2-seater motorcycle... Brambo brakes.. - finally... that's just cool.. higher than the current of the star! ... in conclusion... I will most likely get myself a new Top for the next season... only now with keihins, dominoes. and a fork of payoli... and I’ll transfer my entire upgrade to the new Volchok.... Do you need any more comments? Roughly speaking, you buy a new motorcycle for 2850 tanks... this is not a japa... Volchok has everything made of iron! Z.Y. The top requires maintenance and adjustment, like all standard Urals Alogizm

that's what we're talking about... Any OC, even a WOLF, requires some work. In particular regarding Wolves: you are not the only one with a problem
quote:
the only thing he’s afraid of is the rain... he starts to act up - sneezes - coughs - doesn’t go... because... The front pontoon wing is a bit high - it floods the ignition..
Even if it was parked in the rain, it flows right from the tank onto the ignition cover. Do you remember when we were driving to Mikhailovsk and hit hail? Ruslan couldn't start after all. Everything is as you write...
quote:
wait, let it dry, then let's go...
That's where I could create some kind of protection for you.
Everything that seems to be the listed problems is related to VOYAZHYNY. Both in terms of attaching coffee beads and protecting the ignition from water from under the wing and from the tank. Just add that VOYAZHINA is for tall and large guys. But in other respects, they are like twin brothers, but they have different fathers... and mothers too... that’s why they are so similar. sega
Mikhalych!
Hey Ya! By the way, yesterday I already drew an apron for myself on the front... I’ll cut the seat... the protection will be from the tank.. to the stick, where the pedals are and down to the frame, where the rods are attached... the rainy season is starting.. so let’s try it! by the way.. two trips are planned.. one to Zlatoust.. like to a museum.. and the second to the Obukhovsky sanatorium for mineral waters.. we’ll confirm the dates later.. most likely September 20-21 and 27-28.. stix

I don’t know who is flooding what where, but on Voyage in the pouring rain I rewinded 500 km and nothing happened. True, I threw out the electronic ignition a long time ago and installed a simple one for myself... I’m happy.
By the way, Java has also been out of production for a long time... and there are plenty of spare parts. The Wolf with his tucked butt is far from Voyage. Put them side by side and the Wolf is just an orphan compared to the cruiser VOYAGE. krokodil

Yes, if Voyage no longer exists, what is there to talk about.
Or take a used one with an unknown past, or hang out on a bench. I was also aiming at Cobra... He was aiming for a long time... As a result, I built it myself. IO
Great bike…… Once you ride the 650 you won’t want to sit down…….
RAM
......I won’t be too lazy, I’ll write: based on the experience of using both Wolf (last year) and Voyage (this year) - like Wolf vs Voyage
the undeniable advantages of both: 1. Nothing leaks from anywhere (engine, gearbox, bridge); 2. With normal care, reliability is at a fairly high level; 3. Is there no need to write about disc brakes on both?
Voyage's advantages over the Wolf: 1. Working rear suspension - soft on the ass - especially good in long-distance driving. 2. a large seat for the passenger and a backrest (the hell nada???); 3. THERE ARE NO MORE ADVANTAGES.
Disadvantages: 1. Handling is worse than Volkov's - it stands worse on a straight line than the Volk, it also takes turns not as reliably as the Volk; 2. The landing is not comfortable at all - compared to the Wolf; 3. Out of production - although everything from Volkov and others fits there………
Advantages of the Wolf: 1. It’s amazingly comfortable to sit - you can drive very well. a lot of almost not tired (except for one place:???; 2. Awesome holds the road - both on a straight line and in turns; 3. And finally, such a pretentious look from Volchok, especially when with a rider;
Disadvantages: 1. There is only one: such an impression that you are riding on a cracker - the rear suspension is just for fun (but this shortcoming is quickly corrected by installing human shock absorbers (read Jap shock absorbers) at an angle (it will be difficult to digest). 2. In principle, I don’t consider it a disadvantage a tiny little seat for the passenger - damn it’s not needed
Conclusions: Wolf, Wolf and only Wolf - especially in the current configuration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS: everything written above is MY PERSONAL OPINION - it is debatable - anyone who wants to will correct me if I’m wrong...

Now the only thing left to decide is: Either fatten up to 130 kg.
— or overcook the Wong
You don’t need to get fat or overcook the frame.
Everything works fine. There is no stupid rolliness and excessive softness in the shock absorbers, which is HUD. IO
Wolf is an excellent device…..No matter how you look at it…..After the disastrous Voyages - the Wolf is simply a masterpiece………

Wow, I read it and was really happy for our motorcycle industry. I’ll take the Wolf for myself too.
But here’s what’s interesting: at what point are they equipped with all sorts of major details? That is, I want to take it complete with keihins, payols and other goodies, and I don’t want to break the bank, because I would rather take it all used. Who can tell me what year this fashionable equipment comes from? manowar

I have a 2001 but it looks like it’s coming to an end, I have keyhens and daminos, but the fork seems to me to be ours, with a shock absorber in one leg

would be....
something, and I’ve already started thinking about...Wolf... Lector
I don’t know about the “floods”... The front wing, of course, is not for our roads. I installed the appropriately sized mudguard, but still. We need something more radical. That's what I'm thinking now. But I also drove four hundred kilometers in the pouring rain once (lucky like that) and changed my clothes twice - I got wet through and through - but nothing sneezed or flooded.
It’s definitely sickening without reverse gear. Still, again, our designers “looked too much into the future,” where there is asphalt all around. But I had to turn around on a dirt road with dry ruts between the houses - I hesitated.
And so the spendthrift (pah-pah) is super.

I like Voyazhik better, it’s a pity that it was removed.

Personally, I’m very pleased, without any modifications, I just put the steering wheel straight (like on an export one) - it’s very convenient, I recommend it... And in general, the WOLF rules tromb
Also, or what, buy it.....
Bazz
Hmm.. Maybe it’s better to buy the Economic Council of tanks for 500-600, invest 1000 in it and get a bike for yourself?
And how reliable is the VOLK motor? I was really upset by the article in Murzilka where they did an autopsy of the VOLK engine
.. I didn’t know why, but in fact I bought such a candy
The only thing that scares me is that it’s a bit heavy... for me, but as long as I can handle it (i.e., I can move it into places, I can lift it), we’ll see what happens on the road
Grisha
The handsome Wolf, in my opinion, is the only moto in Russia that a designer has worked on take a look at the modern crafts of KMZ and IZH and shed tears at the danger of it in an engine of a terribly outdated design. Personally, I like the new KMZ engine with a car oil filter; just increase the volume to at least 800 and put it on a wolf.

Motorcycles "Ural" in Iraq |
- In 2002, Saddam Hussein's Republican Guard ordered 2,000 Ural motorcycles with sidecars to support their defensive strategy based on high mobility tactics. Officially, the motorcycles were intended for the Iraqi Ministry of Health and Ministry of Agriculture. About 1,500 motorcycles were delivered before the start of the Iraq War as part of the Oil-for-Food program, which aroused great interest among the military and the public. However, after the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's regime, the State Transport Company of Iraq, which entered into an agreement on the supply of motorcycles, was forced to look for other buyers. According to Iraqis, motorcycles with sidecars are well suited for moving around the city and off-road. Due to the ongoing violence and the danger of coming under fire at any moment on the street, the Iraqis weld additional protection on the vulnerable spots and sidecar of the Urals and install a machine gun on the motorcycle. Representatives of the American command in Iraq have repeatedly expressed concern about the appearance of such motorcycles with machine guns among Iraqi rebels.
- The new generation Russian Ural motorcycle took part in the filming of the film “Ghost Rider 2”.
- In December 2013, at the last stage of the Olympic torch relay of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in the city of Kamensk-Uralsky, 11-time Russian motocross champion Evgeny Shcherbinin carried the torch on a Ural motorcycle, and on February 8, 2014, 20 Ural motorcycles took part in opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Sochi.
- In November 2021, the Ural Brand presented a prototype of the Ural electric motorcycle with a sidecar. The prototype was created on the basis of the existing ST chassis with single-wheel drive. The motor, battery, controller and other components are from the famous American manufacturer of electric bikes Zero Motorcycles. The manufacturer's management later revealed some plans for the electrical project.
Peculiarities
The basic operating system remains unchanged. However, most of the working elements have been modified or replaced. First of all, it is worth noting the new frame, made of a tubular frame and welded joints.
The telescopic front wheel fork became the highlight of the Soviet unit. Pushed forward and mounted on 18-inch wheels, it served as the basis of American design. The high-raised steering wheel also played an important role.
For the first time, a disc brake system was installed on Ural wheels. This was a very important decision, since the new design was quite difficult to handle in corners. New type front brakes provide smooth and confident braking even in extreme situations.
Unfortunately, the instrument panel was installed just above the steering wheel. This removed the appearance from American-made choppers, which have it on the gas tank. The fuel tank itself is made in the form of a drop, located at a slight angle to the saddle.
The rear of the motorcycle is equipped with pendulum shock absorbers that extend onto a 16-inch wheel with wide-profile tires. They ensured smooth movement on all types of road surfaces. This made it possible to feel comfortable both in urban conditions and on the highway.

The heart of the unit
I would like to pay special attention to the engine. The first version was equipped with a 720 cc engine. Production costs diverged from the consumer budget, and then it was decided to produce two versions of the motorcycle: with 650 and 850 cc engines .
The engine can be started using a kickstarter, taken from previous models, or an electric starter. It was first used on Soviet technology, but immediately received the approval of the owners. The electric starter was very convenient in urban use.
One of the untouched systems was the power supply of the unit. The same carburetors were used, one for each cylinder. True, their manufacturer was a Czech engine plant. Therefore, their reliability is not inferior to Java, famous for its wear resistance.
Decrease in production
— When I was in Japan, I visited their motorcycle museum. So, it’s very clear how they have dramatically rushed forward since the mid-70s. And at that time we just slowed down. We were severely limited in new materials. If capitalists were already making titanium frames, then we couldn’t even dream about it, says Nikolai Volozhanin (and the world’s largest titanium production enterprise, VSMPO-Avisma, is located in the Sverdlovsk region - in Verkhnyaya Salda).
The Sverdlovsk people slowed down not because they lacked technical ideas. They were - and what kind of ones! But at that time there were no motorcycles with sidecars for free sale; the demand for them greatly outstripped the supply. Probably, someone at the top thought that in this situation there was no point in spending money and resources on modernization. A typical example is the fate of the best motorcycle from the Irbit plant, M-73. For 1980, when it was created, it was an advanced development.
“I tested this motorcycle myself,” says Alexander Bulanov. — Amazing car: powerful 750 cc engine, electric start, hydraulic brakes. More than a dozen original inventions were obtained by the plant’s specialists when creating this model. We tested it and got the go-ahead for mass production. But to release a new product for the first five years, 4.8 million rubles were required. The plant never received them, although it generated a net profit of more than 20 million rubles annually. M-73 never went into production...
Irbitsk residents issued the millionth motorcycle in 1975, the two millionth in 1985, and the three millionth in 1993. The largest number of motorcycles - 131 thousand - was produced in 1992. Then there was a decline in production: 1993 - 121 thousand, 1994 - 68,700, 1995 - only 11,700. Why did this happen?
“The main reason is that there is no consumer,” says Nikolai Volozhanin. — When prices were lowered in the early 90s and wages fell, rural workers and residents of small towns no longer had time to buy a new motorcycle; most did not have enough money to live on.
