Review of RACER RC200 CS SKYWAY and its technical characteristics

Is it possible to turn a sport into a road bike? The Chinese developers will answer: “no question!” This is exactly what the RACER Skyway model became.

The design was copied from the Japanese sports car Honda cbr150 , the engine capacity was slightly increased and a new version was presented to the consumer - RACER Skyway 200 cs. It has several differences from its Japanese prototype, but the main thing is its reduced speed, power and curb weight. This also includes fewer complaints about the quality of gasoline.

By analogy with the Japanese version, the motorcycle uses a 4-stroke, 1-cylinder engine:

  • working volume - 200 cm3;
  • power - 14 hp;
  • number of valves - 4;
  • cooling - air;
  • fuel supply - carburetor;
  • ignition - electronic;
  • start - electric starter, kick starter, as a backup option;
  • tank volume - 10 l.

The developers emphasize that 95 gasoline is not necessary. Recommended - 92.

A fully filled tank lasts for approximately 350 km.

Interestingly, the carburetor remained Japanese. The only innovation is that all the hoses on the bike are reinforced .

Transmission and clutch

With Honda in mind, the developers remembered that the motorcycle should meet road rather than racing parameters.

Therefore, there were no special requirements for the box. A 5-speed sequential type gearbox was used.

Users have no problems with the box.

Brakes

This system was not reworked. Disc hydraulics with reinforced hoses.

Of course, it would be naive to expect any technical innovations from a budget Chinese bike. Under the modern-looking plastic in bright colors hides an ordinary 224 cc air-cooled engine, quite primitive and therefore reliable. The gearbox is a time-tested classic, a 5-speed manual. The injector was also not delivered - in order to reduce costs, the Racer Skyway RC250CS is equipped with a carburetor. But the brakes on both wheels are disc ; fortunately, the ruthless hand of economy did not reach here. The classic chain drive completes the picture.

The power of the 1-cylinder engine is 14.7 hp. at peak (7500 rpm) . Quite a decent figure by the standards of the class, given the modest weight of the Racer Skyway 250 (only 125 kg), allowing it to reach a maximum speed of 120 km/h . Up to 90-100 km/h, the motorcycle’s dynamics are not bad, but to accelerate to the declared “maximum speed”, you will have to unscrew the throttle all the way and be patient.

Driving performance

The maximum speed according to the passport data is 150 km/h.

Few people would believe that this motorcycle can be accelerated to such speed.

But according to users, it can be achieved by driving down a hill and having a tailwind. Real speed can reach 100, but comfortable cruising speed is 70-80 km/h .

Overclocking

When overclocking, users note that up to 100 it goes briskly, but with a gradual decrease in power. It is extremely reluctant to gain more than 100. In numbers 10-11 seconds .

Fuel consumption

Fuel consumption for the combined cycle is 3 liters , for the highway - 2.5 liters .

Dimensions and weight

Overall, for the money this is a decent road bike that will suit many novice motorcyclists.

External parameters were changed only slightly. The motorcycle has become wider and taller than the Japanese prototype, but at the same time shorter:

  • width - 730 (694) mm;
  • length - 1940 (1983) mm;
  • height - 1100 (1039) mm.
  • seat height - 818 (787) mm.

Hello everyone, I want to tell you about my first motorcycle - Racer SkyWay. If you are an ardent opponent of the Chinese motorcycle industry, then you don’t have to read it, but for everyone who is interested, I ask under the cat. Photo: Plastic: The plastic here is of good quality for Chinese technology, after 2 strong falls, where the driver’s legs broke, the plastic did not even crack. But the plastic fastenings were not always satisfactory; 2 fastenings had to be glued and further strengthened.

Brakes:

The disc brakes stop quite well, but at a speed of 100 km/h the braking distance is very long. The front brake is a little "weak". Tires:

The tires on this motorcycle are not of the highest quality: Even on a slightly damp road, with careless braking and throttle control, we get wheel skidding. Driving on dirt is also not very pleasant. The front tire is very narrow, like a moped. The back is also narrow. I plan to change both tires.

Gas tank:

The gas tank on this unit has a capacity of 10 liters and with a full tank it is enough for approximately ~350 km of driving.

Lighting technology:

The high and low beam headlights shine very dimly, you need to drive at night with increased care, I also plan to replace them with more powerful bulbs in the winter. The turn signals make a squeak (as I understand it, so as not to forget to turn it off) when you stand at an intersection, they really start to get annoying, but this squeak is very easy to eliminate, there are 2 ways: 1. Change the turn signal switch. And 2. Pull the speaker out of the relay. (but this relay is very difficult to get, it is screwed to the frame, and the side plastic, which is very difficult to remove, prevents it from being unscrewed).

Suspension:

The front suspension is telescopic, the rear pendulum. The rear shock absorber is very weak, when you ride together, the bike drops very much. It is quite comfortable and smooth to ride alone.

Maximum speed and acceleration: The maximum speed on this miracle is about 120 km/h with a load of about 90-100 kg.:) Maximum power is achieved at 7,000 rpm, but for some reason the red zone on the tachometer is marked up to 11 thousand. On the speedometer, the marking of up to 220 km/h gives +100 to the boy’s reputation. The power compared to the YBR125 will be noticeably greater, my friend barely gave 110 alone, without a passenger, when I (not in the city) with a passenger about 115. For the city, power and speed It’s quite enough, but on the highway, although I haven’t driven it, after 100 the acceleration becomes very sluggish. By the way, if you drive at 4-5 rpm, then the sudden closing and opening of the throttle is not felt)

Breakdowns:

Over the course of 4,000 km I didn’t have any breakdowns!) Although the mileage is small, compared to my old scooter, it’s a fairy tale!) Only the following was replaced: the starter relay (it was my fault there, it was covered with water and some electrolyte got into it, the battery (the stock one is complete nonsense, and +, the store where we bought the bike slipped the battery to fools without plugs and is old!!!)

Conclusion and a little from myself:

In general, for the money (about 50 thousand rubles) this motorcycle is quite normal, I personally am satisfied. But this moto is only for beginners, but since a beginner falls very often, the plastic may fall apart after riding it. Personally, I had 2 accidents, in the first at a speed of 50 km/h and managed to drop to 30 km/h, and in the second at 80 km/h and dropped to 60. The plastic is intact and not cracked! Only the driver and passenger footrests had to be welded and the gearbox claw had to be bent. I am very pleased with this mot, I plan to change it to Japanese scabies in 2 seasons.

Flaws

The rear shock absorber is rather weak - with a passenger the bike lowers very much, riding alone is quite pleasant and comfortable.

According to user reviews, there are several disadvantages.

  • Saddle . Due to the low height, the motorcyclist feels most of the bumps - even the large stroke of the rear shock absorber does not help. Slippery - when braking, you constantly slide forward, if you drive with number two, it will constantly push you.
  • Light weight. When there is a strong wind, it begins to throw along the road. Maintaining a straight trajectory becomes noticeably more difficult. It’s better not to try to overtake trucks in such weather.

Sometimes they mention tires, but even mechanics say that stock tires from Taiwan need to be changed before purchase (or on the same day).

and dignity

Almost all the advantages of the device come from its features:

  • they note good powerful brakes , but at the same time add that for such a light brakes there is no need for others;
  • low fuel consumption - they add that it would be strange to see high fuel consumption on a small cubic capacity;
  • maneuver along the row spacing - the width is small.

Sometimes the device is called a model for girls, due to its light weight and easy repairs.

Bottom line


There are now a huge number of Chinese motorcycles on the market with a cubic capacity similar to the Racer Skyway 250 RC250CS. Many of them are designed using the same components and assemblies, copied from Japanese motorcycles, or produced under a license purchased from the Japanese. To find any serious differences between them, you will have to try - most Chinese motorcycles look the same, let alone the technical component. This is why the Racer Skyway 250 stands out - it really looks pretty good, harmonious and modern. And from a design point of view, it is an ordinary, unremarkable small-capacity bike, inexpensive, simple and reliable. It is very suitable for a beginner as a first motorcycle.
