Replacing the secondary shaft bearing IZH Jupiter 5

Bearing of the secondary shaft Izh planet 5 number

Reader A. Ustinov from Kemerovo asks what bearings and seals are used on the IZH-Planet and IZH-Jupiter motorcycles, and asks for their numbers.
The crankshaft of the Planet motorcycle (all models) rests on two 2505K roller bearings and one 304 ball bearing (on the left). Its trunnions are sealed with an oil seal designated IZH-49 sb. 1-30-1 with cover (right) and seal IZH-49 sb. 1-40-3 (left).

The Jupiter crankshaft (also of all models) is mounted on three 205 ball bearings and on 304 ball bearings (on the left). The oil seals are as follows: right - IZH-49 sb 1-30-3 with a cover, left - IZH-Yu sb. 1-50 and one oil seal IZH-Yu sb. 1-14-1 in each of the two crank chamber covers.

The secondary shaft of the gearbox for both Planeta and Jupiter is supported by roller bearing 192906 K1M and sealed with an IZH-49 sb oil seal. 1-28-1.

The primary shaft of all motorcycles on the left rests on a 204 ball bearing, and on the right - on a bronze bushing inside the secondary shaft

The outer clutch drum of the IZH Jupiter and Planet-3 motorcycles rotates in bearing 104, and the shaft of the starting mechanism (kick starter) is sealed in the left crankcase cover with an IZH-Yu2 sb oil seal. 1-52 (only for “Jupiters”).

For all these motorcycles, the front fork in the steering column of the frame is supported by two thrust ball bearings 778706.

The wheel bearings of all these same motorcycles (two per wheel) are ball bearings 203 (or 60203), and the rear wheel sprocket bearing is ball bearings - 205. To protect wheel bearings from dust, simple felt seals were used until 1965, and then special rubber seals were used - IZH-56 Sat 4-27.

The axis of the pendulum fork is sealed with two felt seals IZH-56. 2-90 and two rubber ones with a spring - IZH-56 sb. 2-99.

The front fork stays also have two oil seals each: felt - IZH-49. 3-23 and rubber - IZH-P sb. 3-7

Izh Jupiter 5 bearings

?Izh Jupiter - 5 (Izh 6.113 - 020 - 03) - a regular class road motorcycle, designed for movement on roads with different surfaces. Produced by the Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant since 1985. The motorcycle can be attached to or passenger trailer, as well as a universal cargo module. The weight of the side trailer is 95 kg, the cargo module is 480 kg.

? 1985 Izh Jupiter motorcycle began with an engine whose power, compared to the previous model Izh Jupiter - 4, was lowered from 28 to 24 hp. , but the torque appeared up to 3.5 kgf m (with shorter expressions). The fins of the cylinders and heads have changed, the fastening of the exhaust pipes to the cylinders has changed (it has become flanged). An “emergency start” button has appeared, which closes the generator excitation winding to ground, bypassing the voltage relay, when starting with a dead battery. Other consumers do not depend on this button. The steering wheel mount has become flexible, the front brake has two cams. In 1988, the model received an index - 01 appearance like the Izh Planeta - 5: gas tank, boxes, wings, seat and instrument panel.

Gear shift: foot lever with semi-automatic and manual clutch release Transmission to the rear wheel: single-row drive roller chain Main gear ratio: for IZH - 6.113: 2.21 (2.63) Gearbox ratios: 1st gear: 3.17 II gear: 1.81 III gear: 1.26 IV gear: 1.0 Frame: tubular, welded, single front wheel : a telescopic type with spring-hydraulic shock absorbers with pneumatic adjustment (travel 200 mm) or without pneumatic adjustment (travel 160 mm) Rear wheel suspension: lever with spring-hydraulic shock absorbers (travel 85 mm) Tire size: Standard 3, 50?18 "(90 - 459) Front wheel on motorcycles 6.113 - 015 - 01, 6.113 - 025 - 01, 6.113 L - 015 - 01, 3, 25?19" (82 - 484) Spare wheel: for 6.114T, 3, 75?18" (90 - 459) Brakes: rear: single-cam drum type with mechanical traction drive front : single-disc single-piston with hydraulic drive or two-cam drum type with mechanical cable drive of side trailer wheel : single-cam drum type with mechanical drive

Conversion of Java electrical equipment 6V to 12V

Remaking the electrical equipment of Java Our magazine has repeatedly discussed the shortcomings of the power supply of the YAVA-634 motorcycle, produced before 1985. At low crankshaft speeds (up to 1800 per minute), the 6-volt generator does not produce energy, and all consumers at this time are powered by the battery. If the lights and headlights are on, the battery is quickly discharged, which, with repeated cycles, leads to its failure. The only measure to avoid this trouble is to maintain medium speed even on bad roads or stops at intersections. It is clear that this causes great inconvenience, especially for residents of rural areas. The currently produced YABE model “638” uses a 12-volt electrical system (its description and diagram are given in No. 6, 1987), where a more advanced and powerful generator begins to work already at 1000 rpm. It is clear that many owners of the old model want to switch to new electrical equipment, but encounter obstacles.

Installation of alternating current generator G421 on IZH-49 and IZH-350. Adapter flange drawing and modified electrical diagram

Instead of a constant variable, IZH-49 motorcycles, as you know, have long been out of production. But many still do not want to part with them, because these reliable, unpretentious machines are well adapted to difficult operating conditions. Serious difficulties, perhaps, are created only by the DC electrical equipment system, which includes several complex devices. requiring special care. I simplified this system by converting it to alternating current based on the model of the Voskhod motorcycle, that is, I used its electrical circuit, the G-421 generator and the B-300 coil. The only difficulty in the conversion is installing the generator. For it, you need to machine the adapter flange shown in the figure from any steel. which we fasten with M6-15 screws through holes with a diameter of 6.5 mm on the right half of the crankcase instead of the previous generator. We place the generator rotor on the right axle shaft of the crankshaft and screw it with an old bolt shortened by 15 mm. Then install the piston like this. so that it is 4 mm n.

Provide a list of bearings and oil seals for Izh motorcycles, indicate their installation locations and dimensions

Second stage: checking the suitability of the secondary shaft for further use

Under normal operating conditions, the secondary shaft bearing runs for quite a long time.
But no matter how much we want and try, it wears out. It would be nothing if it weren’t for safety: if your secondary shaft bearing falls apart while driving, and it will certainly fly apart if you don’t change it in time, the gearbox sticks together with the rear wheel, and it’s tight and you’re grinding the asphalt with your butt... Be careful, over some We take out the secondary shaft with a tray and carefully inspect the shaft bearing raceway, the races and the rollers themselves. The working surfaces of the bearing and rollers should be free of holes, edges, signs of wear or overheating. The path must have a perfectly flat working surface.

Example of a secondary shaft race and race in perfect condition.

To facilitate reassembly, apply some kind of lubricant, such as lithol, to the treadmill and carefully place the rollers on the track and, turning it a little, insert the shaft into the cage. As soon as the sprocket splines rest against the edge of the oil seal, use a thin screwdriver in a circle to straighten the edge of the oil seal and push the shaft until it stops. And immediately, so that the shaft does not fall out, put the sprocket on it and secure it with a nut.

In a carefully washed and prepared for assembly crankcase we place the input shaft, the first gear gear and the follower shaft with pre-selected shims.

We put a fork on the gear-carriage for engaging the second-fourth gear (it is smaller than the gear-carriage for engaging the third-first gear, you can’t go wrong) as shown in the picture. We put the gear on the input shaft and insert the fork pin into the upper groove of the follower shaft.

We put a fork on the gear-carriage for engaging the first-third gear, as shown in the picture, place it on the first gear gear and insert the fork pin into the lower groove of the copy shaft.

We install the fork guides in their places (with grooves towards the clutch basket). By the way, if necessary, the “Planetovskaya” gearbox can be assembled and disassembled without disassembling the clutch basket and without removing the guides. But to do this, during installation you will have to pull the tracing shaft towards you a little, insert the pins of the forks into the grooves and after that, remove the locking bar and push the tracing shaft all the way.

Install the intermediate shaft.

On older engines, the end gear is installed separately. On later ones, it is made integral with the intermediate shaft.

We fill the return spring of the gear shift shaft as shown in the picture.

We check the functionality of the gearshift shaft pawls: compress and unclench them several times. We pay special attention to their working edges: they should be sharp and not licked. And don’t forget to check the spring that compresses the pawls: it must be of the correct shape and ensure the elasticity of the pawls’ movement.

We squeeze the pawls and install the gear shift shaft in its place.

We rotate the tracking shaft with the mark on the body towards the gear shift shaft and so as not to miss the mark during installation, we cover the gap between the teeth opposite the mark of the tracking shaft with lithol or paint it. It will be more noticeable this way.

Why do I need 5 of them if they are of high quality and one set is enough.

prices are rising...in the fall, I was billed for a set of SNR bearings for about 900 rubles, and now for the same thing from the same company it’s already almost 1,500 rubles. At the same time, KOYO was also offered, each bearing is about 30 rubles more expensive than SNR. But the price doesn’t bother me much, they are affordable for me. But I would like to know the SKF codes
