Lifan LF200-10P motorcycle manufactured by Lifan Industry (Group) Co., Ltd.

LF200-10P

Chinese motorcycle Lifan LF200-10P manufactured by Lifan Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. (manufacturing plant in Zhongqing, Zhongqing Municipality, China; produces a variety of motorcycle equipment under the Lifan , Honlei brands, including motorcycles). Wheelbase 1330 mm, front tires. 90/90-17 rear 120/80-17, max. speed 105 km/h, gross weight 300 kg, curb weight of the Chinese motorcycle 150 kg, gasoline, total seats 2 (including driver), engine 165ML-P.

Most popular models

So, as we said above, the company produces a wide variety of motorcycles.
Let's look at the most popular Lifan motorcycle models. Firstly, it’s worth talking about the Lifan 250-4 chopper. From the name you can immediately understand that the motorcycle is equipped with a 250 cm3 engine. The motorcycle's power was 18 hp, and the maximum speed established by tests was 140 km/h. The chopper has a rather nice appearance; for safety, side bars are installed, which will save the motorcyclist’s legs in case of a fall. Already in the basic version, Lifan 250-4 comes with a standard alarm system, thanks to which the bike can be started from a button on the key. The motorcycle does not have water cooling, so during long trips you will have to stop to cool the engine. Owners of this bike note decent handling and road grip.

In second place is the Lifan Dakota 250i motorcycle, with pronounced sporty features. The bike's power is 20 hp, and the maximum possible speed is 165 km/h. You can see that this motorcycle is an analogue of the Honda VTR250 and Suzuki Bandit 250 bikes. It is on the basis of the development technologies of these motorcycles that the Dakota 250i was created. The red frame, which is called a “birdcage,” immediately catches your eye. It is this that ensures greater rigidity of the body and, in the event of a severe fall or accident, will ensure the safety of the engine. Rear and front disc brakes, and fuel consumption is 2.8 l/100 km. Overall, this is a very cool bike if you are a beginner rider. It is convenient to travel both around the city and beyond, which is what makes it so popular.

For lovers of enduro equipment, the Chinese company offers the Lifan LF200. This is a fairly nimble enduro, which is more suitable for use in rough terrain. The motorcycle's power is 16.3 hp, and the maximum speed does not exceed 100 km/h. There are hydraulic disc brakes that can stop the motorcycle in the most difficult weather conditions.

In general, Lifan motorcycles are quite good models. If you don't want to spend money on expensive new products, then these motorcycles are what you need. However, be prepared to take care of the bike and treat it with care, then it will serve you for a long time and will not cause headaches.

Specifications

This model is ideal for long-distance travel or off-road driving.

Repair and tuning

Repairing Chinese motorcycles is a rather thankless task, since they often require attention. But this is compensated by a large number of available spare parts, high maintainability, low prices and simplicity of all service operations. To repair or service the Zid 250 Enduro yourself, you do not need to be an experienced motorcycle mechanic. A manual book and a desire to understand the design of your two-wheeled friend will be enough.

Repair

Most components can be repaired, and with minimal labor and time. Parts that cannot be repaired are easily replaced with new ones, and if you wish, you can even buy a new engine without any problems. Moreover, such a purchase will not hit your budget too much! Although it’s still unlikely that you’ll have to go broke like this.

Spare parts

There are no problems finding them! Many of the necessary hardware can always be purchased from dealers, and many others are suitable for motorcycles from the brands Lifan, Zongshen, Motoland, Racer and others. They are cheap and are usually available at any motorcycle store specializing in Chinese motorcycles. The quality, of course, varies, but all the main components of the ZiD 250 Enduro are quite reliable, judging by the reviews and feedback from the owners.

Tuning

There is simply a huge amount of available tuning. Of course, it is not intended specifically for Zid Lifan motorcycles - these are all universal parts and body kit elements, inexpensive and often produced at some factory with an unpronounceable name, lost in the vastness of China. But the scope for “improvement” opens up unprecedented, and most ideas can be implemented without significant costs.

In conclusion

Chinese automobile and motorcycle production is developing every year. Modifications are constantly coming out that can compete with the best Japanese and European analogues. Among such models is the Lifan-200 (LF-200) motorcycle, which is popular in China, throughout the post-Soviet space and abroad. Its main advantages are its affordable price, good technical characteristics, variety of modifications and ease of maintenance and repair. It’s not for nothing that the company that produces the unit in question has been working in this market for several decades. This fact, along with consumer reviews, is additional confirmation of the reputation of budget but high-quality two-wheeled equipment.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages

Affordable price. For the price of purchasing a new Lifan LF150 13, you can only buy a very, very middle-aged Japanese small-capacity model. Spare parts and consumables are also cheap.

Ease of Management. The motorcycle weighs a little over 115 kg, its seat height is low (the seating position is quite comfortable for those of average height), and it steers very easily

For beginner motorcyclists, this is understandably very important.

Spacious gas tank - as much as 15 liters! Considering the average fuel consumption of 2-2.5 liters of AI-92 per 100 km, it is easy to calculate that you will not have to stop at a gas station very often.

Reliability of all main components. The engine and transmission of the Lifan 150 are archaic, but absolutely problem-free.

Kickstarter available

If the battery suddenly runs out, it will always help you out.

Flaws

  • Weak light from standard headlights. There is almost no sense in it on unlit roads. You can try replacing the light bulb with a more powerful one. Judging by the reviews of Lifan 150 owners, this should solve the problem.
  • Narrow wheels. Because of this, on uneven asphalt the motorcycle sometimes noticeably “rearranges” and shakes along the road.
  • Rigid suspension, but not very energy-intensive.
  • Quite fragile and thin plastic. If it falls, it will most likely break into pieces.
  • The need to bring the motorcycle to a suitable condition after purchase. It is advisable to tighten all the bolts, check the wiring insulation and fill with normal fluids.

Disadvantages of the model

Like any other motorcycle, the lf200 has its drawbacks.

For example, many motorcyclists who have been riding for several years lack the power and maximum speed of the motorcycle. Other owners of such motorcycles complain about the rapid failure of minor parts of the motorcycle - burnt out light bulbs in the headlights, problems with bending wires and hoses, loosening of the chain and bolts in various parts of the structure.

In addition to such small problems that arise during operation, many drivers announce a list of factory defects of the motorcycle:

  1. A narrow seat, which, although it looks impressive, does not provide a comfortable fit for a motorcyclist of medium and large build.
  2. The absence of any glove compartments or cases designed to store a minimum set of tools, rags and other useful items.

In general, the motorcycle does not have any significant shortcomings that cannot be eliminated throughout the entire period of riding it.

Motorcycle Lifan LF200: cons

Like any technology, the motorcycle in question has certain disadvantages. Considering the opinions of the owners, several main disadvantages can be noted:

  1. Professionals who have spent many years driving aggressive iron horses lack power and speed.
  2. Some users point to the rapid failure of certain components and assemblies, in particular lamps, wires, connecting hoses, and fastening elements.
  3. Factory defects.

Not all users are comfortable sitting on a motorcycle seat, especially if the driver is of a large build. The lack of additional glove compartments, luggage compartments for tools and other useful items does not cause delight among consumers.

Taking into account the budget direction of the motorcycle and its affordability, the noticed disadvantages do not prevail over the advantages, if you follow all preventive measures and do not violate the rules of equipment maintenance.

Specifications

Now regarding the characteristics of the Lifan 400. The model was placed on a powerful base based on a tubular base, which almost completely copies the legend of the roads of the past.

Attractive steering lines, luxuriously designed seats, spoked wheels and first-class optics - all design features are borrowed from the famous Yamaha and many other classic choppers that are so popular among bikers.

The bike turned out to be large and impressive. The manufacturer's declared length of 2.24 m, of which 1.54 m is allocated for the wheelbase, is truly impressive.

Despite its length, the motorcycle was made “narrow” - only 0.73 m. The height of the seat is 0.7 m, with a total of 1.17 m. In full body kit, the weight of the bike is 194 kg, which is not so for a cruiser a lot of.

The engineers tried to make their model comfortable - two riders can sit on the “iron horse” from China at the same time.

Travel comfort will be ensured by a dual gas tank designed for 13.5 liters of fuel.

The “internals” of the Lifan LF 400 were also pleasantly pleasing. The engineers stuck a 2V68FMQ 2-cylinder V-engine into the bike, which was placed along the frame, within the base part.

The engine volume of the motorcycle is almost 400 cm3 (399 cm3 - just rounded), which, with an air cooling system, a contactless ignition system, an electric fuel pump and two carburetors, looks very impressive and inspires respect.

The engine power stated in the model passport is 30 “horses”, which can be developed at 8000 rpm. In the same block with the engine, the developers installed a 5-speed manual transmission.

The multi-disc clutch operates in a special oil bath, which extends its service life.

Despite the fact that the Lifan LF 400 does not have high speed performance and cannot boast of a quick start, it reaches its 140 km/h quickly and without problems. Fuel consumption per hundred is 3.5 liters.

As for the suspension, the authors of the project relied on the classics - a telescopic fork was located in front.

At the back, engineers installed a pendulum structure equipped with two spring shock absorbers.

The braking system is convenient - discs are located on the rear wheels and are operated by a foot drive.

The declared cost of the new motorcycle is within 170 thousand rubles. But don’t rush into buying this cruiser - a good analogue has appeared at the ZiD plant, which is offered at a lower cost, 125 thousand rubles.

About the manufacturer

The company producing Lifan LF200 was established in China (1992). Translated, the name of the company Lifan sounds like “to go with full sails.” The head office is located in Chongqing Province. The main purpose of the manufacturers was to produce ATVs, mopeds, motorcycles and other equipment aimed at use by budget consumers.

In 2006 alone, the company produced:

  • More than 1 million 300 thousand motorcycles.
  • A lot of different power units.
  • Passenger cars, in particular the Lifan-520, which can be seen on domestic roads under the Lifan Breez brand.

The company that produces Lifan LF200 GY 5 units is now one of the 500 largest private Chinese companies that sell products in many countries. Motorcycles, scooters and mopeds from this brand are presented throughout the post-Soviet space, in Europe, the USA and some other countries.

Price policy

The cost of Lifan LF200 GY motorcycles is significantly lower than their European and Japanese counterparts. However, the quality and characteristics of the equipment are slightly inferior to them in almost all respects. Depending on the modification, equipment and condition of the motorcycle, the price for the car in question will be from one to one and a half thousand dollars. Considering the technical parameters, driving performance and maintainability, this is a completely acceptable amount.

A used bike of this brand can be purchased at half the price. However, it is worth paying attention to the condition of the chassis, frame and other main components.

Manufacturer

Lifan was founded in 1992. In addition to passenger cars, motorcycles, ATVs and scooters, buses are also produced under this brand.

The plant is not very large by world standards and employs a little more than 13.5 thousand workers, but this does not prevent the company from regularly being included in the list of the 500 largest companies in China.

Lifan has been developing joint projects with Russian business for 6 years; in particular, an assembly plant for the production of cars was organized.

The brand’s own plant is being built in Karachay-Cherkessia, in Russia not far from Lipetsk. In addition, motorcycles of this brand are produced in Kovrov.

Detailed review

The tricycle can be considered a real “hard worker”, because the main purpose of the equipment is to transport cargo up to 500 kg. From the front, the device looks like a regular motorcycle, to which, instead of the rear wheel, a trailer on a 2-wheel base is connected. The frame of the model is reinforced to ensure the reliability of the entire structure. After delivering the cargo to its destination, the driver has the opportunity to dump the cargo using a manual dump truck.

During the development of the suspension system, the designers took into account the fact that the tricycle is mostly used in villages. That is, the unit moves over rough terrain. Shock absorption due to telescopic spring-hydraulic suspension allows you to ride in comfort without feeling vibration and shaking.

To ensure that the driver does not experience discomfort and the seating is comfortable, the tricycle has a soft, single seat with a backrest. The backrest supports the driver's torso while relieving stress from the back.

Model range of motorcycles

Lifan motorcycles are represented by a diverse range of models; bikes of the following series are already being produced:

Classic. Universal bikes with a straight fit and a round headlight. This series includes, for example, the Lifan LF150-13 model, with a power of 11.7 horsepower, accelerating to 100 km/h.

Chopper - models with an extended frame and front fork, high handlebars, and a large V-shaped engine. These include the Lifan LF250 model, which is an exact copy of the Japanese Yamaha Virago.

A cruiser is a motorcycle with a low seat and lower handlebars than a chopper, large fenders, additional headlights, and a powerful engine. Not suitable for fast driving. Examples of cruisers are models Lifan LF125, Lifan LF 400.

Sportbike. Motorcycles with sports suspension are designed for paved roads. This series of bikes includes, for example, the ZiD-Lifan LF 250-19R.

Dakota is a joint Russian-Chinese project of the Lifan corporation and the famous Russian Plant named after. Degtyareva (ZiD), mountains. Kovrov.

Enduro. Motorcycles for riding not only on asphalt roads, but also in off-road conditions. They are light in weight, have good impact resistance, and are easy to operate.

The enduro models include the ZiD-Lifan LF 250 gy-5 - also a joint Russian-Chinese project between Lifan and ZiD, and the Lifan LF 200 model. We will look at the technical characteristics of the latter in more detail.

Modifications

There are several modifications in the company's line. They are divided into the following groups:

  1. Classic category. This includes bikes with a straight fit and a round front headlight. For example, version 150-13 has a power of 117 horsepower and a top speed of 100 km/h.
  2. Models with an extended frame (chopers). This equipment is equipped with an elongated frame and a front fork with a large pitch, a volumetric power unit with V-located cylinders.
  3. Sports bikes ZiD Lifan LF200. There is a variation called "Dakota". The name of the motorcycle comes from the combination of the original logo and the partner from the Russian side (the Degtyarev plant). The vehicle has an improved rear suspension and has excellent road feel on various types of unpaved surfaces.
  4. Cruisers include variations with a low seat and a less sensitive steering wheel compared to a chopper. The design includes large wings, additional headlights, and a reinforced engine. This motorcycle is not designed for particularly fast driving, but it behaves very confidently and reliably on the road.
  5. "Enduro" is a universal bike.

Lifan motorcycles and their features

Moto Lifan certainly has a number of advantages that make people buy these motorcycles. Especially the bikes of this brand are great for beginners who are just getting acquainted with two-wheeled equipment. The fact is that most motorcycles from the Lifan model range do not exceed 250 cm3 in engine capacity. This is due to the fact that in China it is prohibited to drive motorcycles with higher power. Small-capacity motorcycles from a Chinese company, for example, 100-250 cm3, are perfect as the first bike on which a future motorcyclist will learn. The weight of the motorcycle is also important. On these models it rarely exceeds 150 kg, which also makes it possible to choose a motorcycle for a beginner.

Another advantage of Lifan motorcycles is their low fuel consumption. Typically, motorcycles from this Chinese brand consume 2-3 l/100 km, making them very suitable for use in cities where there are constant traffic jams and congestion. For more skilled drivers, there are, of course, more powerful versions, for example, the 400 cc Lifan LF400. It was made specifically for European markets, and due to the ban, it is not sold in China.

In general, in the assortment of this brand you can find Lifan motorcycles for every taste. Here you will find enduro, road motorcycles and even choppers. But fans of sports motorcycles will have to look for other options, since the company does not deal with such serious equipment. Of course, you can find some intermediate option between a sportbike and a road bike, but still it will not be a real “sport”.

Advantages

The two-wheeled motor unit in question has a number of advantages, namely:

  • Good quality characteristics along with an affordable price.
  • The low weight and optimal dimensions of the equipment guarantee comfortable movement in congestion and traffic jams.
  • Additional safety is provided by hydraulic disc brakes, which smoothly and gently stop the vehicle, even in bad weather and extreme braking.
  • Original design and comfortable driver and passenger seats.
  • Adjusted seat height, allowing novice bikers and women to feel confident behind the wheel.

Motorcycle Lifan LF200GY

The Lifan LF200GY motorcycle is a universal model that is well suited for long trips. Stable suspension and significant ground clearance help the biker overcome various road obstacles, including off-road. In Minsk, Lifan LF200GY is perfect for tourist and business trips. It is designed for two passengers. This is a “new product” in this category of motorcycles. It can simultaneously be classified as “enduro” and “sport”.

❌ Disadvantages

  • In terms of dynamic characteristics, it is inferior to any Japanese analogue (but costs 5-6 times less).
  • A narrow seat that is difficult to sit in for a long time.
  • The rims and subframe (weak, when hit at speed in large holes, they immediately bend).
  • The standard 520 chain is prone to stretching, so it is recommended to replace it after a year of intensive use.
  • There is no fuel sensor, which is very inconvenient.
  • The rear shock absorber may need modification, as it is unreliable and may not withstand constant driving on rough roads.
  • Often there is such a defect as rattling when driving, which occurs due to the lack of valve clearance (you must manually set 0.06-0.07 for the intake and 0.08-0.09 for the exhaust).
  • The license plate mount is fragile and may crack after a few drops.
  • There is no oil filter, but you can buy and install a mesh (ZS CB250D-G - it costs no more than 30 rubles).

Specifications

In an attempt to move the Yamaha Yubr-125 off its pedestal, the Chinese continue to reduce the price of their motorcycles, intending to grab a piece of their audience, if not by quality, then at least by a low price. By the way, they have a good chance of doing this - the Lifan LF 150 is cheap, and for this money the buyer will receive a completely viable bike. Primitive, simple, but quite normal. It weighs about 115 kg, and subjectively seems quite light, despite the old-fashioned steel frame. The cast wheels look good, the only pity is that they are too narrow, and this somewhat spoils the appearance. But already in the basic configuration of the Lifan 150 motorcycle there is a trunk, on which, if desired, you can install a central trunk.

The 150 cc air-cooled engine loves high speeds, reaching a peak power of 12 hp. to the 8000 rpm mark. By the way, it is precisely from about 8000 rpm that unpleasant parasitic vibrations begin to be felt, which does not add pleasant emotions at all. But the bike behaves very predictably, accelerating, braking and maneuvering obediently, so you can put up with minor shortcomings. The 5-speed gearbox works smoothly, but in reviews of the Lifan 150 there is mention of a sticking 2nd gear. This problem did not manifest itself in any way on the test motorcycle.

Unfortunately, in pursuit of cost reduction, the Chinese saved on brakes and suspension. And if the front disc brake works, in principle, quite well, then the rear drum brake is of little use. It’s also difficult to say anything good about the pendants - they just exist, that’s all. Well, what else can you expect from a motorcycle for that kind of money? Against the background of all this, the 15-liter gas tank looks strange (in a good way!). In addition, Lifan 150 is not at all demanding on the quality of gasoline, and there is an opinion that it will easily run even on AI-76, if, of course, you manage to get it somewhere.

Hello BP! I put 4,600 miles on the moped (about 200 of them in heavy rain. Well, that’s how I was “lucky”), took it to the sea with my wife (450 km one way), and decided that I could write my impressions. Yes, of course, 4600, this is not 50,000 mileage, there cannot yet be a full-fledged opinion, but still this is not a “review after the first 100 km”. Yes, and the amendment “for China” must be taken. So if anyone is interested, please see the cut)

Actually, the pepelats itself

However, this is how it looked for its first 3000 km. But, before the trip to the sea, it was slightly modified to a more “tourist” state - a central case was installed, a tank bag was purchased, and the original windshield was installed. The ride has become more pleasant, at least there is somewhere to put things.

Well, now to the point. To begin with: during this run (pah-pah-pah) nothing broke. At all. I just changed the oil and tightened the chain.

Engine: 200cc, 17.5 horses, 6 speed. Gearbox, water cooling. I have a rather modest experience in terms of motorcycles (a bunch of scooters, other people’s alpha-deltas, training Minsk, and my own Jupiter), but as for me, the engine is excellent. The actual consumption for two people in the city is 3.3 liters, on the highway - exactly 3. Quite brisk acceleration, staying in city traffic is absolutely not difficult, especially if you are alone. The very short first 2 gears are a little annoying, but there’s nothing you can do about it, this is not a litrosport where you can drive in the first 120. There is no Kickstarter, only electric, but it always catches on instantly. On a warm engine the idle is stable, there are no problems with them. In general, I'm pleased.

Regarding the cladding and electrics: it’s not strange, but it’s excellent plastic. I know firsthand what Chinese plastic is, but there’s nothing like it here - it doesn’t rattle, doesn’t rattle, feels strong and solid. In a group on VK, the owner wrote that the plastic was perfectly welded together after an accident, saying it was no worse than Japanese plastic, but, fortunately, I don’t have my own experience here, so I won’t lie. Everything presses, lights up, beeps. What sucks is the light. When he himself - it didn’t go anywhere, he was just weak and lousy. And when there are two of us, the headlight goes up, the near one becomes “middle”, the distant one catches the planes, in general, there is light and there is no light. At night you can only drive on illuminated streets. I had experience driving at night on the highway - well, it’s very unpleasant, considering our roads.

Regarding tires and suspension: honestly, I don’t know how to evaluate bad or good tires, but on this one I drove a total of more than 200 km in severe downpours, with a bad rating, and the tires didn’t let me down, despite the fact that I was driving normally, I didn’t drag for 20-30 . But with the suspension things are worse. No, it’s intact, hasn’t leaked or broken, but when driving with two people (total weight 150), the suspension constantly breaks in the pits. When fully loaded (two people in the outfit + full case + tank bag + backpack), the rear shock breaks through on almost every bump. I’m thinking about installing a stiffer shock absorber (they say it’s suitable from a bandit), because well, I’m scared for him. But when driving alone, everything is fine but uninteresting.

Brakes: informative, tenacious, nothing to tell in detail. They work and that's it, I haven't changed the original brakes yet. There is, however, a sound, as if the rear brake is constantly wiping, but the disc does not seem to overheat, it coasts just fine, so I don’t touch it for now.

Comfort: for about a month I had Jupiter for my daily routine, so after it - heaven and earth. Small, with liquid cooling (a very useful thing in the city this summer, when it was +37 in the shade), comfortable, playful, no vibrations (the balance shaft is doing its job). The normal footrest and weight distribution allow you to easily place it on the center console, unlike the IZH, which I was afraid to drop every time. But long-distance driving, of course, is not for everyone. No, we had a great trip, 460 km one way, cruiser at 90+ (according to GPS) with the trunk and tank bag fully loaded, but on the highway it’s still not enough. Not enough suspension, not enough dynamics after 100 (yes, there is almost none there), the seat is a bit hard, there is no light, the load capacity is low, there is no wind protection. But if you travel alone, then it’s probably no worse than the same fucker.

On the minuses: there are minuses, where would we be without them. The main thing that irritates me is the harsh box. The first 3 gears are engaged harshly and unpleasantly. Second, it's a crappy chain. I constantly pull it up, but it keeps stretching and stretching. It doesn’t seem to eat stars, but still. The chain itself is located somehow moronicly, it constantly lies on the slider, which, according to reviews of 7 thousand, dies (stupidly rubs out), and then you have to buy a new one. Once the clock on the dashboard went wrong, it’s unclear why. The saddle is attached with finger gaps at the back, it looks strange. It also rubs the front of the tank, and since my tank is white, there is already an indelible black stripe there, and there is nothing to be done about it. The engine is very revvy. When driving around the city it doesn’t feel soaring at all, but when you have to drive around the village at your parents’ place (and it’s a small town of 10k people) it’s hell and horror. Constant poking of gears, there’s nowhere to keep steady gas, until I’m in third, I have to slow down again, because there are potholes. In general, it is not suitable for offroading at all. Well, unless you really want it)

Conclusions: I’m more than satisfied with my first motorcycle, I’m glad I didn’t join the sect of witnesses to the fuck.:) It’s stupidly impossible to rock out like a moose (and so far there is no experience - it’s for the better, despite the legends about the “speed reserve”), the consumption is scanty, even with two people it steers like a bicycle (and 90% of my mileage is done together with my wife), on the highway you can keep about a hundred. What else does a beginner need? Apparently the Chinese have learned to rivet something more or less sane
