REVIEW OF DUCATI Monster 1200 25º Anniversario – in details and colors

How I swapped a small green naked for a small red naked. One day I looked at the odometer on my '19 z400 and knew I wanted to try something different. The city bike from Kava, after 16k km and 2 seasons of operation, was in perfect condition, pleased with its character, did not require anything other than scheduled maintenance and gasoline, and still aroused the interest of others, who regularly came up with questions about “skokazhretskokapret” or feigned readiness at traffic lights chase. From a practical point of view, everything was fine too. You can have fun at the karting track, you can clear traffic jams, and even drive comfortably (except for the wind) 130-150 on the highway. But I still wanted something new. Moreover, it is desirable, on the one hand, in the spirit of “the same cabbage soup, but add more” - so that it is light, maneuverable and the ride brings emotions, but on the other hand, it will be somehow boring to buy the same motorcycle, where the only difference is a half-liter engine more.

The purchase, like last time, was carried out on the principle of a “blind date”. The model is new, there are no reviews (there are only clearly advertising ones), there are no motorcycles available for test rides yet, and those that are available are immediately sold out. You can only try to stage an ass test in static conditions, and even then on a motorcycle that has already been sold to the client. Well, at least that's it. The static butt test brought the feeling “as if I had fit into slippers.” Last time it turned out to be normal, let’s trust chance and the analysis of foreign reviews once again.

A week and a half of waiting (although initially the managers in all Ducati showrooms estimated 1-1.5 months) and now I have a cool red new monster 937.

In terms of performance characteristics and other positioning, this is a competitor to the street triple, 890duc and MT-09. In appearance, in my opinion, he is the prettiest of these competing four. Snobs and old ducatistas will say “fufufu, no trellis frame, fufufu, no dry clutch.” But we all know at least one motorcycle manufacturer that was mothballed along with its fans due to style and tradition, and now suffers for it. Yes, the recognition of the model has decreased. But the dry weight is 166 kg. Since I need to go, and not checkers, I prefer ease to tradition.

On the engine: Almost liter V-twin L-twin gives you tons of thrust and a kick in the ass from any speed, even in break-in mode. And he is very sociable. In the same network, the engine either imitated the smooth sound of a vacuum cleaner, or, if cranked up for 8k, it turned into a joyful howl of “WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIABLE, PLAYİAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATINGLY There were no vibrations at all. The goose either rumbles or vibrates and rumbles. Here the Vashka basses with a much wider range of intonations and vibrations, to suit different situations and driving modes. He doesn’t really like driving at walking speed; he has to be very careful with the clutch.

In terms of handling: It is still being tested and, naturally, the motorcycle has not been used on karting tracks and other recreational vehicles. A certain number of rides along the maple ring and other winding paths of the castle assure me that the bike handles just awesome, but somehow you wouldn’t expect anything else from a Ducati. The suspension is expectedly stiff. In general, this is the only point in which the monster loses to its competitors - their suspensions are fully adjustable (although I’m not sure about the non-RS trilpa), while the Ducati decided to save a little.

In terms of ergonomics: Everything is comfortable, good and wonderful, except that at +30 at stops the engine temperature soars to around 95-100, after which the monster begins to fry your legs. So if you see a Ducatist who, in the heat, is desperately pushing through traffic jams, traffic lights and the rest of the surrounding universe, don’t scold him, he’s just very hot and he can’t stand anymore.

In terms of traffic jam resistance: Geometrically, it’s a small motorcycle, light weight, you can ride in traffic jams any way you like. The steering angle has been increased compared to previous generations of monsters. Cool, fun, convenient. The downside for me personally is that it is seven centimeters wider (according to the mirrors) than the socket and they protrude beyond the steering wheel. Either the eye gauge will calibrate with an increase in the roll on traffic jams, or I’ll install narrower mirrors if it doesn’t calibrate. Somehow I’ve already gotten used to the fact that in the aisle you can dominate even scooters and I don’t want to lose this interesting option.

Useful features:

  • Engine operating modes: Full power + sharp response, Full power + smooth response, reduced power.
  • Slipper clutch.
  • ABS with a bunch of operating modes - Front only / Both wheels + choice of the degree of paranoia of the ABS.
  • Traction with a bunch of operating modes - Completely disabled or select the degree of paranoid traction.
  • Quickshifter in the base in both directions. Can be turned on/off.
  • Anti-willie. You can turn it off, you can customize the level of paranoia of the system.

There are three preset modes SPORT |
TOURING | CITY, in each of which you can customize everything for yourself and then switch the mode with two clicks of a button. To summarize: a very, very peppy light and beautiful city bike, with which I really want to try to get out on the track, and completely different in character from the previous one I had:)

REVIEW OF DUCATI Monster 1200 25º Anniversario – in details and colors

The most popular bike, whose name Monster evokes a direct association with the manufacturer DUCATI, is 25 years old, and this is really a considerable age! To mark this significant date, the company has timed the release of a new motorcycle of the same name - DUCATI Monster 1200 25º Anniversario.

The exclusive model was produced in only 500 copies, each of which has a unique serial number on the frame. The head fairing, fuel tank and passenger seat cover are painted in the rich colors of the Italian tricolor, the lattice frame is golden, and the forged W-shaped wheels of the famous company Marchesini are also distinguished by a similar golden color.

What can the anniversary motorcycle boast of? The special edition of the DUCATI Monster 1200 features several features.

Quickshifter with the ability to switch up and down.

Full color TFT display.

Passenger seat cover.

LED side lights and tail lights, daytime running lights, LED turn signals and USB charging port.

Premium seat with embroidered 25º logo.

Number plate with the serial number of the limited edition, mounted on the frame.

Articulated brake and clutch levers.

Also notable are the mirror pillars, which are made from solid billet aluminum, the fork crown and lower mount, and the handlebar counterweights, which are created using similar technology. The license plate holder is made of aluminum, the ignition switch cover and the front and rear fenders and exhaust trim are made of lightweight and durable carbon fiber. The handlebar counterweights and fuel tank cap are made by Rizoma, a company specializing in the production of tuning elements for various brands of motorcycles. The handlebar grips are from the Superleggera 1299 model.

Engine

The anniversary model is equipped with a standard two-cylinder L-Twin DUCATI Testastretta 11º DS with a desmodromic valve drive, dual ignition system and liquid cooling. The power unit reaches maximum power of 147 horsepower at 9,250 rpm, and maximum torque of 124 Nm at 7,750 rpm. This power reserve is quite enough for confident and sometimes aggressive movement on city roads and suburban highways.

Working in harmony with the modern and powerful engine is a six-speed gearbox equipped with a multi-plate wet clutch and a double-sided quickshifter, making it even faster and easier to select the desired gear. The engine power is supplied to the rear wheel by a chain; the size of the sprockets has also not changed - 15 teeth in the front and 41 in the rear.

Frame

The one-sided rear swingarm, which has already become familiar and pleasing to the eye, has not bypassed the DUCATI Monster 1200 25º Anniversario. The Trellis tubular frame, painted in an attractive golden color, is connected to the engine, which acts as one of the load-bearing elements of the structure and saves weight of the motorcycle.

Suspension

The front is equipped with a fully adjustable 48mm Öhlins fork, while the rear is supported by a progressive monoshock, also ready for any settings the rider desires. The travel of the front fork is 130, and the rear monoshock absorber is as much as 149 millimeters, quite sufficient to smooth out uneven road surfaces. An Öhlins steering damper is also installed, which facilitates steering and eliminates shock and vibration of the steering wheel when driving over defects in the road surface.

Brake system

The front brake consists of two 330mm semi-floating discs, radial monobloc callipers of the famous Monobloc Brembo M50 model and a radial pump with ABS as standard. The rear 245mm brake disc is firmly held by a two-piston caliper and is also controlled by the ABS system.

The Marchesini forged wheels are painted in a golden color similar to the trellis frame, and are in perfect harmony with the elegant and stylish appearance of the bike. The three-spoke W-shaped front disc measures 3.5 x 17 inches and wears modern generation III Pirelli Diablo Rosso tires measuring 120 x 70 x 17 inches. The rear wheel with a forged disc of a similar design is much wider - 6x17 inches, respectively, the Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tire has a size of 190x55x17 inches. Lightweight wheels and excellent tires provide excellent grip and add confidence when driving.

Equipment

The standard equipment of the motorcycle includes preset riding modes (Riding Modes), an electronic engine management system ride-by-wire (RbW), included in the DUCATI ABS safety package, traction control (DUCATI Traction Control) and wheelie control (DUCATI Wheelie Control).

The curb weight of the motorcycle is 210 kg, dry weight is 184 kg.

The attractive and stylish DUCATI Monster 1200 25º Anniversario also boasts a 24-month unlimited mileage warranty, a service interval of 15,000 kilometers and a desmodromic mechanism service interval of every 30,000 kilometers. Such impressive figures once again emphasize the reliability of the unique “monsters”. Exactly 500 copies will be produced; as already mentioned, they will be given the opportunity to see, touch, and possibly buy at WDW-2018. The entire limited edition is likely to be sold out by the end of 2021. We have created a gallery especially for you, in which you can see all the details of the hero of the day.

In the meantime, you have many other models of the manufacturer at your disposal on the MOTORRIKA website.
