Dodge Tomahawk - a motorcycle of crazy speeds for crazy people

Created back in 2003 The Dodge Tomahawk V10 Superbike can hardly even be called a motorcycle. This steel monster was produced in a limited edition to demonstrate the company's technological capabilities. Demonstrated at the annual international auto show in Detroit, the Dodge Tomahawk created a real sensation. There is nothing to be surprised here - the public has never seen anything like this before, and, quite likely, will never see it again. However, calling the Dodge Tomahawk motorcycle a concept bike is not entirely correct, since more than one copy was produced, and all of them were assembled by hand.

Dodge-Chrysler initially expected to sell 300 units , but the high price scared off many potential buyers. There are no exact sales data, but judging by insider information leaked online, only 9 Tomahawks were sold. It would be interesting to see a person who would dare to actually ride this bike. Would you mind refusing?

MTT Turbine Superbike Y2K

Second place in the list of the fastest motorcycles goes to an American creation - the Turbine Superbike Y2K. Its production began in 2000 and lasted 5 years. It immediately became popular because it had a powerful turbocharged engine. The motorcycle even became a record holder for power among all commercially produced motorcycles, for which it was included in the Guinness Book of Records. Speed lovers were interested in the Turbine Superbike Y2K due to the following indicators:

  • maximum speed, which reaches 402 km/h;
  • acceleration to 100 km/h in 1.5 seconds;
  • engine power of 320 hp. WITH;
  • tank volume containing 34 liters of fuel.

Track T800-CDi

Of all the motorcycles presented in this review, this bike is the calmest. But his story is very interesting. Back in the 1980s, all NATO vehicles ran only on diesel, and this made it possible to save on fuel. But this became the reason that there were no bikes in this organization. There were several unsuccessful attempts to change the situation, but until recently nothing changed.

And recently, the Danish company EVA Products created a new bike for NATO - a 3-cylinder Smart Fortwo with a 50 hp engine. The characteristic features of this bike are the ability to cover long distances at good speed.

The weight of the bike, like the Ural motorcycle, is quite decent - 227 kg. True, the manufacturer openly admits that driving a car is not entirely simple. This is despite Brembo brakes and WP suspension. But the manufacturer promises to fix these problems in the near future.

Kawasaki Ninja H2R

And again we are pleased with the Land of the Rising Sun, which has released another super-fast motorcycle. The creators did everything to ensure that the owner of the motorcycle received pleasure and boundless positive emotions while driving. It is worth noting that there is a special racing version and a civilian counterpart, the H2, which has only 200 horsepower. As for the sports version, it is equipped with a liter four-cylinder engine with two-speed turbocharging and a power of 310 horsepower. The official speed record is 354 km/h, but manufacturers claim that the motorcycle can be accelerated to over 400 km/h.

Steel Madness

It’s difficult to say who Dodge-Chrysler saw as potential buyers when it planned to sell three hundred Tomahawks. Such equipment is bought for collection, and not for driving - is it possible to imagine this 680-kilogram monster with a 500-horsepower sports car engine on a city street? However, the Dodge Tomahawk motorcycle coped with one of the tasks assigned to it - it demonstrated to the whole world what the engineers of the American concern are capable of. So now all the Tomahawks are in someone’s personal collections, and mere mortals can only look at the characteristics and photos of this crazy prototype.

Appearance

The developers have lightened the design of the incredibly heavy 10-cylinder motorcycle, which in its weight has “caught up” with a small car.
This was achieved by using lightweight alloys of carbon, titanium and aluminum. The single-seater motorcycle has powerful brake calipers. The front wheels have eight-piston, rear four-piston brake units. The Tomahawk is designed for only one pilot, who is also a passenger. The seating position on it is recumbent, so a second number is out of the question.

Harley Davidson Cosmic Starship

The Harley Davidson brand is well-known by a large number of people, and its creations constantly find their way into one or another top list. Cosmic Starship rightfully takes sixth place on our list due to its “cosmic” price. Partly, this price tag was due to the fact that the famous American artist, Jack Armstrong, worked on tuning the bike.

LikeDislike

He applied an intricate design to the surface of the motorcycle, which he secured with 37 layers of clear varnish. In addition to gold paint, Harley received unusual bows on the body. Cosmic Starship does not have any outstanding technical characteristics.

The buyer pays only for the uniqueness and prestige of the model. It would seem that there is nothing special in appearance; moreover, not all ordinary people will like the design of the product. But truly rich collectors are willing to shell out a lot of money for an exclusive.

This motorcycle was placed in the show-room of an official dealer in Los Angeles. The public premiere was attended by media personalities, celebrities and politicians. An inscription was installed near the bike, which prohibited anyone except Lady Gaga and Sylvester Stallone from touching the exhibit.

Hildebrand & Wolfmuller

The fourth place is occupied by a rare and very elegant model, which was designed at the beginning of the last century. Look at the lightness and sophistication of the forms in the design of this piece.

LikeDislike

Due to the age of its development, it does not fit into the modern idea of what a bike should look like. However, in essence, in terms of design and purpose, this is exactly a motorcycle.

It is now in the possession of an American collector. At one time it was released in a limited edition (only 800 units). Wolfmüller has a four-stroke one and a half liter engine with two cylinders, producing max 2.5 hp, water cooling.

The motorcycle can “squeeze” 48 km/h. Beautiful, expensive and tasteful! What true connoisseurs of beauty need.

SUZUKI HAYABUSA – 399 Km/H

1340cc. It is a four-cylinder, short-stroke, 16-valve DOHC engine that truly lives up to the hype. Suzuki's dual throttle valve ensures maximum engine performance at all times. This bike gives you the ability to customize it to its optimal settings using a wire-by-wire system combined with Suzuki's ride mode switch. The Suzuki Hayabusa accelerates from 0-60 in 2.6 seconds and its clutch assist system i.e. Suzuki Clutch Assist System helps reduce back torque. Its maximum power is 197 hp. at 6750 rpm.

The fastest motorcycle in the world – Dodge Tomahawk

Theoretically, this monster, presented to the general public back in 2003, accelerates to 613 km/h. Until now, there has not been an extreme sports enthusiast willing to prove this on the track; his passport contains a record of 468 km/h. But all experts believe that the Dodge Tomahawk, with its dual wheelbase and independent suspension, is capable of achieving the stated figures.

The price for the fastest motorcycle in the world starts at $555,000 (or 35,500,000 rubles), so so far only 9 copies have been sold, which are parked in the private collections of millionaires.

Of course, in the article we looked at record holders intended for highly experienced drivers; regular bikes are much easier to control

But even when riding a motorcycle that is not the fastest in the world, whose speed does not exceed 180 km/h, it is important to remember your safety and not neglect your protective equipment. MV AGUSTA F4 1000R – 300 Km/H

1000cc of pure power is what propels this bike forward and makes it a heartthrob among bikers. The handling of this bike is superb, cutting through corners like a knife through butter. It has a short stroke engine and a lightweight crankshaft so acceleration is never a problem.

This bike does 0-100 in just 2.7 seconds and it just shows how fast it can go. The 8-speed traction control system ensures excellent handling even at these speeds. The MV Agusta F4 1000R produces a maximum power of 174 hp. and maximum torque of 115 Nm at 10,000 rpm.

Ecosse FE Ti XX Titanium Series

This stylish bike is at the eighth position in the rating. The first copy was released in 2007. Each model was assembled by hand, which, of course, significantly raised the price tag.

LikeDislike

The limited collection consisted of 10 pieces. This exquisite bike cannot be found on the street and, of course, it is not available to every wealthy lover of beautiful motorcycles.

The producing company does not seek to make its brainchild more accessible - after all, their masterpiece can only be appreciated by an expert in this field. The unit has a powerful engine (225 horsepower, 2.4 l). Weight – 192 kg. Pretty easy, isn't it?

Aurora V8 Hellfire OZ26

The Aurora Hellfire is a crazy bike designed by ex-racer Vincent Messina. And there is no doubt that he poured his soul into it without a trace. This bike boasts a 2.6-liter V8 engine that produces 417 horsepower. To make it clear, the most powerful production bike today, which is the Kawasaki H2, produces 2 times less power.

The motorcycle weighs 265 kg, but the manufacturer has done everything to make it perfectly controllable. The motorcycle has an innovative steering column and custom suspension, which allows the motorcycle to corner easily. The motorcycle stops perfectly quickly thanks to 4-piston brakes. The bike appeared on the market only at the end of 2021, and there are not many lucky ones who have become its owners yet.

Artificial ceiling

Before you find out which motorcycle can be called the fastest on the planet as of the end of 2021, it’s worth taking a short excursion and “walking” through two-wheeled cars that can challenge the leader of the current rating. And it’s worth starting with the prohibitions.

No more than 300

Not only Russian people love high-speed driving - it’s worth remembering all kinds of sports competitions, including motorcycle racing. Even outside the tracks, competition continued from the advent of the “iron horses” between both “riders” of two-wheeled “horses” and manufacturers of motorized cavalry. And something like this could not remain without consequences.

The rapid development of motor vehicles and the stubborn struggle of developers for the title of creator of the “fastest motorcycle in the world” led to a significant increase in the number of accidents involving vehicles that were faster and nimble compared to cars at the end of the last century. The latter had a negative impact on the stock price, because in a number of countries the authorities banned their products from appearing on the roadway. To resolve the situation, an agreement was concluded among the companies requiring a speed limit of 300 kilometers per hour (more precisely, 299.3 km/h) to be set for mass-produced motorcycles.

Little trick

Despite the approved standards, they did not install low-power engines on “self-running horses” - the required maximum speed limit on production motorcycles is fixed by installing an electronic limiter. In other words, despite the agreement, those who want to set another record or make the adrenaline boil in their blood are able to compete for the title of the fastest motorcycle racer after appropriate tuning of the two-wheeled car purchased at the salon.

Beyond limits

However, some companies refused to enter into a restrictive deal altogether. Among such unique companies is Marine Turbine Technologies, which back in 2000 released a two-wheeled vehicle called MTT Y2K Turbine Motorcycle. This motorcycle, equipped as a motor with an Allison Model 250-C18 helicopter turbine manufactured by Rolls-Royce, is capable of reaching speeds of up to 403 kilometers per hour on the highway. And this is with a power of 320 horsepower - in 2015, MTT released an updated version with a 420-horsepower engine, but what top speed the new “monster” can show is still unknown.

Photo: https://marineturbine.com/

But the old model, unlike the motorbike with 420 “horses” on board, is the only high-speed motorcycle approved for travel on public roads. The price of the 320-horsepower version reached $150 thousand.

Quickly – by types of motocross bikes

All motocross motorcycles, based on engine size, can be divided into several classes, and some of them can only be conditionally perceived as motorcycles, and only three are truly serious motocross bikes. About models whose engine capacity ranges from 50 to 80 cm³, we can only say that they are of interest mainly to children and teenagers.

We recommend reading:

What type of transport is the safest?

Motorcycles with a displacement of 125 cm³, such as Kawasaki KLX125, Xingyue XYQH-806 and others, are good for developing the skills of novice athletes and training to stay in shape. They are light and compact, so they are most often used by teenagers or adult lightweight athletes. These motocross motorcycles are extremely noisy, as they operate decently only at maximum speed. But they cope excellently with turns.

The next class of truly adult motorcycles is 250 cm³, for example, Kawasaki KX250F, Suzuki RM-Z250, Yamaha YZ250F, KTM 250 SX-F and others. They work well at both medium and high speeds. The excellent ratio of the bike's weight to the power of its engine allows it to corner easily, perform excellent jumps and develop impressive speed on straight sections.

Neiman Marcus Limited Edition Fighter

Our parade ends with the most expensive motorcycle unit in the world. It was released during the Second World War, and since then it has only increased in price.

Like1Dislike

Collectors are ready to pay incredible amounts of money to take possession of a rare creation of engineering. As part of the limited edition, 50 units were produced, 45 went on sale.

The weight of the bike with full equipment is 195 kilograms. Engine displacement is 2 liters. Can reach speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour. It has its own unique, recognizable design, which is currently the subject of ongoing controversy in society.

But still, most connoisseurs recognize it as refined and elegant. Indeed, the aesthetics of this product are quite pleasant and attractive. Such a discreet yet luxurious classic.

Dodge Tomahawk

In 2003, the American company Dodge pleased fans of high-speed motorcycle riding with the new Dodge Tomahawk motorcycle, which was presented in Detroit as part of the North American International Auto Show.

The new Tomahawk, which has a futuristic appearance, attracted the attention of many motorcycle enthusiasts with its impressive performance and dimensions:

  • maximum speed up to 560 km/h;
  • 10-cylinder V-shaped engine;
  • power of 500 hp;
  • acceleration time to hundreds - 1.75 s;
  • length of 2,591 m;
  • 0.7 m wide;
  • height equal to 0.937 m.

Dodge Tomahawk

Dodge intended to sell up to 300 Tomahawk motorcycles, which were assembled by hand. The super-fast bike was sold for $555 thousand. But contrary to all expectations, only 9 Tomahawks were sold. The first owners of the motorcycle did not rate its performance very highly. The bike needed to be refueled only with high-quality fuel, and the small tank did not allow the motorcycle to be made for long trips to places where there were no gas stations. Also, its very high cost played a significant role in the lack of demand for the motorcycle.

BMS Nehmesis

A model with a truly intricate and unusual design. When looking at this example, I want to ask, “How can you even drive it?” This elegant unit is designed to resemble a fast and maneuverable insect.

Like Dislike1

Leading Japanese engineers created this car over the course of 14 years. The head of Yamaha considers his creation a masterpiece. The frame is made of high quality gold. About $50,000 was spent on finishing the wheels and body with chrome and gold.

Under the gas tank there is a turbo engine consisting of two compartments with a volume of 1.6 liters. I do not recommend driving this fancy unit on public roads for safety reasons.

Super sports motorcycle

Of course, the maintenance and operation of the Tomahawk is expensive for the lucky owners of such a unique motorcycle. For example, the serious fuel consumption and impressive dimensions of the motorcycle do not allow you to ride it imposingly anywhere. In addition, the short stroke of the gearbox causes significant discomfort while driving - at the same time, the fastest and most powerful motorcycle in the whole world strives to slip out from under the pilot.

The tank volume does not differ in capacity. You won't see Dodge Tomahawk on public roads - they are kept in the garages of 9 lucky owners, who probably feel a sense of pride when they hear the enthusiastic exclamations of everyone around them.

And one more interesting fact - to date, no one has been able to officially prove the maximum speed of a motorcycle. In addition, some skeptics argue that without a special body kit, the Tomahawk is unlikely to reach a speed of 200 mph. Moreover, the driver will simply be blown away by the oncoming wind. Is it really? The answer to this question remains to be seen, which may happen in the near future.
