Baltmotors street 250DD – technical characteristics of a CLASSIC from Russia


The Russian motorcycle enthusiast is offered a wide selection of motorcycles from used Japanese to new Russian ones. An example of the latter is the Baltmotors Street 250 DD. Despite the imported name, the motorcycle is assembled in Kaliningrad (hence the first syllable in the title). It is impossible to call him purely Russian, Most parts are purchased in China. But representatives of the plant do not hide this:

“Give it time - there will be models made from our components and better than Chinese ones.”

The idea for the streetfighter was born in 2012, but it went on official sale two years later. Some owners note that it was possible to buy earlier. Production continues. As is customary with the Chinese, the bike is very reminiscent of the Suzuki TU250X.

Technical characteristics (power plant)

According to user reviews, the engine pulls well up to 6,000 rpm, then the thrust disappears. If you turn it further - from 7,500 rpm, then with the howl of the motorcycle and the owner’s swearing, you can get maximum power.

During break-in, there may be some strange knocking noises, but by 1 thousand km everything will be back to normal.

The motor has:

The owners note that the Chinese apparently do not know how to copy accurately. Due to the invention of their caps, problems are possible when adjusting the valves.

Transmission and clutch

The motorcycle is equipped with a 5-speed gearbox. It doesn’t create any problems, the pedal travel is within normal limits, the numbers are chosen conveniently, neutral is caught immediately.

The main drive is a classic chain, sealless in stock, and it stretches quickly. It is better to immediately replace it with a Japanese one, for example, with RK Excel XSO with X-shaped seals.

But you have to get used to the long stroke of the throttle; you won’t be able to turn it all the way right away, but there may be problems when transferring to another bike.

  • The clutch is standard , multi-disc , oil bath . Power transmission is a cable .
  • The main drive is chain .

Brakes

The stock bike has disc brakes on both wheels.

The front brakes “grip with a bang” and are very informative.

  • Power transmission is via a hydraulic line , the hoses are reinforced.
  • There are two petal discs on the front axle and one on the rear axle.

Braking assistance systems such as ABS are not offered and are not installed .

Driving performance

There are various rumors about the maximum speed. According to user tests, you can accelerate to 145 km/h (according to the speedometer). Considering that Chinese devices, as a rule, lie - according to GPS, the same speed in reality is only 122 km/h .

Perhaps this is why the plant representatives answered the question about the maximum speed - 120 km/h . In their opinion, a comfortable cruiser is 100 km/h .

Acceleration to hundreds

Acceleration from standstill to 100 km/h (GPS) —20 seconds (China!!!). But the motorcycle accelerates tolerably up to 60 km/h, which is exactly the limit in city mode in the traffic rules.

Fuel consumption

Fuel consumption according to specifications is 3l/100 km . Users note that in the city less than 4 liters is not possible.

I am quite loyal to all types of motorcycles, but I feel special respect and admiration for endurists. You are real motorcycle maniacs! It turned out that everyone is a bit of an endurist at heart and I am no exception.

This Saturday we explored the beautiful Rominten Forest, Vishtynets and tested the new Baltmotors Dakar Enduro 250, and for the first time in my life I rode the BM Enduro 250. It all started with an offer from KenigTOPOR to visit the most beautiful places in the Kaliningrad region by a small company of BM owners. Igor developed the route in response to my question: “Will I go on the Street, are there any dirt roads in the plan?” answered “Yes, of course, you will pass, don’t bother going there.” Oh, how many times I remembered his words and was glad that I decided to ride a service endurike, and not on my new street. We drove 380 km, half of them off-road. We were planning to leave on Friday evening. A luggage system for the Dakar 250E was welded and installed especially for the trip - it worked like a charm.

They loaded me with the lightest + backpack.


I must say that I have never ridden enduro, except for short-term tests. There’s a first time for everything and I’ll be very happy to join the ranks of fans of this difficult pastime)

We were joined by a stunning girl Ekaterina on the same BM Enduro 250 as mine and her husband Dmitry on a Kawasaki Versys.

We spent the night in the forest after the village. Talpaki on the banks of the Pregolya River. The further path lay through the city of Chernyakhovsk, and in Ozersk we met with local guys Sergei and Marina, who kindly agreed to be our guides in Romintskaya Pushcha (Krasnolesye). The roads of the region are a paradise for a motorcyclist - turns, good asphalt, alleys of converging tree crowns, endless green fields (persistent associations with alpine meadows periodically arose). The first stop was the Krynica spring. I have never tasted such delicious water. Only nature is capable of creating such beauty. We went extreme - across a shaky bridge to the other side for the sake of beautiful photos, which you can’t do for the sake of art.

There were some mini-adventures. While turning, I fell into a rut and dropped my motorcycle on my leg. It's a pity for the pants, but the baptism of fire has been completed.

Romintskaya Pushcha is rich in historical sights. We visited the hunting lodge of Hermann Goering, the castle of Wilhelm II, and looked at the memorial stone erected in honor of the stay of Prince Frederick Charles of Prussia in the Romintskaya Forest. We also met our older brothers - ATV riders.

The extreme point of our journey was Lake Vishtynetskoe - the largest, deepest and cleanest in the region. Its age is 20 thousand years, which is 10 thousand years older than the Baltic Sea.

Having said goodbye to our guides and promising to continue exploring all the secret trails of the Red Forest, we went home, tired and happy.

To summarize, I can say that you can be born an endurist, or you can become one. For the sake of those places where no car can reach, for the sake of adventure and testing one’s own strength. Stop dreaming - it's time to act!

Advantages

  • Excellent braking system with three discs and reinforced hoses. Baltmotors Street 250 stops dead in its tracks, but for beginners there is a risk of accidentally pressing the brake.
  • Speedometer . He regularly lies, and to a large extent. As GPS measurements taken by some owners show, at a speed of 110 km/h (according to the speedometer), the deviation can reach 15-20 km/h.
  • High reliability of all main components. The engine, for example, is an exact copy of the Suzuki TU250X engine.
  • Design . The bike looks very stylish and at the same time quite modern.
  • Huge 22-liter gas tank . Without refueling, Baltmotors Street 250 can travel up to 600-700 kilometers.

Flaws

  • A peculiar shape of the tank . Long-legged riders may not find it very comfortable to hug it with their legs, as their lower limbs will likely not fit into the designated recesses on the sides.
  • Inconvenient valve adjustment . For this operation, special windows are made in the CPG body, but it is quite difficult to get to them with tools in your hands.
  • Mediocre directional stability . At high speed, the Baltmotors Street 250 DD behaves quite nervously, and sometimes you have to “catch” it, especially on uneven asphalt.

  • Fuel tank 22 l. One of the best indicators among small-capacity models. According to reviews, you can travel up to 700 km at one gas station.

So the Baltmotors Street 250 DD, perhaps, already has a serious advantage over its competitors - motorcyclists trust it. And for good reason.

Flaws

With the exception of the incomprehensible idea of ​​​​installing sports clip-ons on a city bike, other disadvantages are minor. Users noted:

  • Vibrations . The usual story for cylinder 1, but the owner of the Baltmotors street will have to often check the tightness of all kinds of locknuts.
  • Clip-ons. An incomprehensible idea from the developers, especially considering that the hexagons on which they are attached will require a special wrench for tightening. You will have to check it often, so you need to buy a key. Or replace the clip-ons with a classic steering wheel:

  • Stock pens. There is no way to fold or adjust. When traveling with two fingers, there is a possibility of pinching the others.

In addition, all owners note the fuel tank. According to this parameter, the motorcycle is an absolute record holder in its class . For bikes identical in other respects, the reserve rarely exceeds 20 liters. 22 l - no one has it .

Reviews from Baltmotors Street 250 DD owners

The mot is actually not bad, but not without its flaws. I picked it up new at the store, and when I arrived home I discovered that two bolts had come loose, one on the remote control, and the other one that holds the gearbox foot, which miraculously did not lose at all. Well, okay, this is not the first time we have had to deal with the Chinese, I removed the plastic, the tank, tightened all the nuts myself, checked the wires - everything was laid according to the mind. The consumption is more than stated, in city mode I get about 4 liters, but they don’t lie about the volume of the tank - I filled it in when it was almost dry, more than 21 liters came in. The engine is responsive, pulls confidently, but there is vibration at high speeds. In general, the vibrations were strong when the motor was new, and really strong, as if the crankshaft was beating, but then everything went away, apparently after running-in. I don’t like the mirrors yet, they are too short, you can see either the curb or the shoulders in them. Replaced with others. The original chain stretches unrealistically, change it immediately.
