Reviews from Baltmotors Motard owners

Baltmotors Motard 250 DD, 2013

This is my second season driving Baltmotors Motard. It’s put together well, there are no big jambs, but it’s noticeable that it’s China. Not a full-fledged enduro - the suspension is weak for this. Not a full-fledged “motard” - the engine is rather weak (21 hp at 140 kg of weight). But I love it - it handles like a bicycle, it flies past speed bumps without slowing down. A purely utilitarian motorcycle for walking on asphalt - dry primers. There's not an ounce of sport in it. “Maximum speed” on asphalt is 130, cruising on the highway 90-110. The Baltmotors Motard eats 3.5 liters, and with the “hole” fully open – up to 5.5 liters. The ideal motorcycle for the leisurely meditating pensioner. Or a wise young man who understands life and is in no hurry. Spare parts from China at auction, almost everything is there.

Advantages

: pendant. Controllability. Price.

Flaws

: low power. The suspension is not for aggressive driving, but more for comfort.

Baltmotors Motard 200 DD, 2011

BM Motard 200, 2011, 200 cm3, 16 hp, 5 manual transmission, single-cylinder four-stroke, 126 kilos of pure pleasure. The name is "Mosquito". An hour after purchase: it feels absolutely flawless. It starts and drives. Very beautiful booming sound (surprised). Lightweight, maneuverable, picks up quickly. Along the ring road they accelerated it to 110 km/h (2 people on horseback). But that's not what he was created for. Excellent shock absorbers. It swallows any obstacles so that you have asphalt almost everywhere. The front brake is terrible because of the shock absorbers. You squeeze it out, and the motorcycle sinks down almost half a meter. Roller coaster. Baltmotors Motard is very tall, as it should be, I can barely reach the ground with my feet. Because of this, it is inconvenient to maneuver in place; he tries to lie down. The next day after the purchase, they took me out to the offroad to learn, ride, and enjoy. I folded the motorcycle three times, lost control on potholes and bumps, and couldn’t hold it. The first time it was unpleasant to fall, then it was fun. According to the results of the falls: the front brake handle is bent, the mirrors are crumpled (I thought of unscrewing them in the mud too late), the plastic is scratched here and there, and I have a lot of bruises and bruises and everything is dirty. And this is just for 1 day of ownership. It's a pity for him, but what can you do?

Advantages

: energy-intensive suspension. Unpretentiousness. Price.

Flaws

: no serious ones.

Baltmotors Motard 200 DD, 2015

Dakar 250 Motard. The mileage is currently 3500 km. I service it myself. The first breakdown (I’ll write approximately the mileage, because I don’t remember exactly): the tail with the number 1300 km fell off, no matter how much I tried to strengthen it, there was no point. The last fall from “Willy”, all the turn signals and lights fell off. The bolt on the cylinder head, through the axis of the rocker arm for supplying oil to the cylinder head, broke off (burst), the oil “gasted” to the rear wheel, everything was covered in oil. This was me in Chelyabinsk, mileage 1100 km (thank God it wasn’t on the highway because there are no control devices). I removed the camshaft bed, drilled and tightened a normal bolt. The turn signals stopped working, the wire inside the relay broke off, soldered it, and assembled it so that the board would not dangle inside the case. 1400 km the pipe connecting the carburetor to the cylinder head burst (XX disappeared), picked it up and installed it. 2800 km - the bolt of the drive star came loose (tightened it), I noticed it in time, it would have flown away, there are cases when the bolt breaks off, then you will have to fly in captivity. The low beam lamp burned out at 2000 km, installed xenon. The clutch cable broke at 2500 km. I change the oil every 500 km, then after 1500 km.

Advantages

: maneuverability. Acceleration.

Flaws

: many minor breakdowns.

Baltmotors Motard 200 DD, 2015

The first impressions while driving the Baltmotors Motard home: light, tall, comfortable, narrow and nimble, like a bicycle. King of traffic jams. Yes, this was later completely confirmed. Traffic jams are the element of this device. The steering wheel and mirrors are higher than the mirrors of cars, and the weight and short wheelbase allows you to immediately change the row spacing if the cars in front are too tightly packed that even this moped won’t fit through. Build quality: it is at an acceptable level, although not without fault, especially in the electrical department. Some of the manufacturer's decisions are very controversial and require some refinement. There are childhood diseases, but they are relatively easy to treat. Like any motorcycle, and especially a Chinese motorcycle, it needs regular maintenance and monitoring of the condition of its components. The book that came with the motorcycle indicates a service interval of 5,000 km, which is very optimistic. I change the oil and oil filter every 2500 km. It must be taken into account that in city conditions, when traffic jams give way to free areas where everyone is speeding at 100 km/h, and even in the summer heat, the properties of the oil are lost faster. The Baltmotors Motard engine is reliable and unpretentious, but it is not worth ruining it with oil that has oxidized ahead of time. Yes, the oil is synthetic 10w50, and there is no need to skimp on quality oil, fortunately only about a liter is poured into it. The valve clearances must be checked every 1000 km.

Hi all! If you remember, I recently wrote a post about the Dnepr with a sidecar, which I bought as a “stable motorcycle that doesn’t lean in turns.” In short: he is doing well, alive and well, won’t start and is languishing in the garage. It turned out that it’s not so easy to find spare parts for a scoop bike in St. Petersburg (it would seem that it’s a big city!.. but no, it’s a village))), so everything is dragging on, well, God willing, I’ll get it out by the fall. But what’s so good about the stroller, he’ll ride with me through the winter like a darling. In that post, I also wrote that I would like an endurike bike, so that I could learn with her to overcome the fear of a motorcycle. I honestly didn’t think that this idea would come to life (and so quickly)), but the poet’s soul couldn’t stand it. I studied Japanese Chinese Russian SUVs for a long time, went to motorcycle dealerships to sit on them and see what was what. And in one of these showrooms in St. Petersburg I saw it - BM Motard 200 from the Kaliningrad Motor Plant. ... mmm, KMZ again!

He immediately sank into my soul. Matte black beauty with gold forks. I didn’t sleep for two days, I didn’t eat, I thought. On the one hand - “I want”, on the other hand - “why???” and a lot of other arguments, like I don’t have money, I don’t really know how to drive, and I’m generally afraid of falling apart. That’s enough, I’ve been putting it all together in the past... And then I remembered BP and one post, written by I don’t remember who (sorry), entitled simply, in three words - you only live once . This became my guide to action.

The next day, as they say, “it’s gone.” On the Internet, suddenly, without even expecting it, I find an advertisement: a person is selling this same VM in perfect condition. Announcement month. I call without hoping for anything. It's worth it, but I haven't sold it. The condition is really excellent, it has been run-in, the mileage is 700 km, and even then only in the city. A man hadn’t ridden a motorcycle for 20 years, couldn’t bear it, bought an endurike bike from a dealership, rode it for a ride and realized that he wanted something more powerful and bigger)) That was enough for me. That same evening I saw my future friend, then for 2 days kind people helped me raise funds to buy it, and on June 10, 2012 I became the happy owner of a second motorcycle!

BM Motard 200, 2011, 200 cm3, 16 hp, 5 manual transmission, single-cylinder four-stroke, 126 kilos of pure pleasure. Name is Mosquito :)

One hour after purchase:

Feels like: absolutely no complaints. It starts and drives. Very beautiful booming sound (surprised). Lightweight, maneuverable, picks up quickly. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat' the shock absorbers! It swallows any obstacles so that you have asphalt almost everywhere. The front brake is terrible due to shock absorbers!!! You squeeze it out and the motorcycle sinks down almost half a meter. Roller coaster, by God) He’s very tall, as he should be, I can barely reach the ground with my feet. Because of this, it is inconvenient to maneuver in place; he tries to lie down.

The next day after the purchase, they took me out to the off-road to learn, ride, and enjoy.:) I folded the bike three times, lost control on potholes and bumps, and couldn’t hold it. The first time it was unpleasant to fall, then it was fun. According to the results of the falls: the front brake handle is bent, the mirrors are crumpled (I thought of unscrewing them with a shit mixer too late), the plastic is scratched here and there, well, I have a lot of bruises, bruises and everything is dirty)) And this in just 1 day of ownership! It's a pity for him, but what can you do?

More photos from the rides:

After the first ride on the Mosquito, I had one feeling: get off as quickly as possible, sit on the Dnieper, cover myself with the stroller and, well, screw it! After several rides I don’t want to get off anymore) He teaches me not to be afraid to ride on 2 wheels and he does it well.

Well, in the end, I’m now sitting without money, I have nothing to live on, nothing to eat), I have two motorcycles, one of which urgently needs to be raised somehow. And you know what?.. I feel awesome!!!

Description

The dynamics, handling and ergonomic design of the Baltmotors Motard 200 motorcycle will delight its owner.

The model combines the best qualities of road motorcycles and enduro. Baltmotors Motard 200 consists of high-strength plastic that protects the main units. In addition, the motorcycle has a fairly good level of suspension performance, wide wheels and high-power hydraulic brakes, which makes riding on city roads and off-road easier.

Engines are manufactured exclusively under license from the famous Suzuki company.

Since 2014, the bike model has improved significantly thanks to new sprockets, chains and tires. In its model range, Baltmotors Motard DD is considered one of the best, especially for those who have decided to master driving for the first time.

Key Features

  • The dashboard has the standard necessary parts: speedometer, tachometer, odometer. There are also turn signals and a gear indicator.
  • Even when the motorcycle is used hard, good braking is guaranteed thanks to the reinforced brake hoses.
  • The two-piston front brake caliper shortens stopping distances even when accelerating to high speeds.
  • To extend the service life, do not direct a stream of water during washing to the places where the radiator is located, as well as the chain and bearings.

Positive traits

  • Adequate, but at the same time affordable price, and the necessary parts for the motorcycle are also available.
  • Easy to use.
  • Patency.
  • Quality parts and assembly.

Minuses

  • Often the first speed is knocked out.
  • The rubber that comes with the kit is of low quality.
  • The electrical component is of average quality.

Which stars are suitable for Baltmotors enduro

The Baltmotors Enduro 200 DD, the operating experience of which I would like to tell ABW.BY readers about, is not my first motorcycle. Before it there were Jawa 350/638, Yamaha YBR125 and Honda SLR650, but still I came to the desire to buy a second bike. The fact is that Honda is an urban enduro, that is, it allows you to ride both on and off-road, which I happily used. However, the more serious the rides became, the more the SLR’s clearly excessive weight for off-road use—about 180 kg—hampered me. At that inevitable moment when you have to carry the motorcycle in your hands, such a weighty “carcass” does not bring much joy. And a range of about 100 km in the forest did not add confidence.

So I began to look closely at lightweight enduro. But this class is rather poorly represented on our used motorcycle market, and there are plenty of offers from the “Chinese”. Many of my fellow riders rode motorcycles of the Russian brand Baltmotors, and the reviews about them were purely positive. The only thing that bothered me was the price. The “two hundredth” enduro from Baltmotors cost one and a half to two times more expensive than the widely known M1NSK X200. There was a lot to think about.

The decision came naturally. In winter, the crisis hit, and the Russian ruble collapsed accordingly. “Baltmotors” almost doubled in price, and I boldly went to the Minsk dealer to buy a new motorcycle - and on February 23, 2015, I became the owner of a new Baltmotors Enduro 200 DD.

In general, the Baltmotors company does the same thing as our motorcycle and bicycle plant - it assembles motorcycles under its own brand from Chinese components. Over the years, it has proven itself well on the market thanks to the competent selection of suppliers from China, and therefore its models are of very good quality, but also slightly higher in price than their competitors. The company also pays attention to customer feedback, as a result of which the equipment is constantly being improved based on consumer comments. So, my copy of the 2014 model year enduro, unlike earlier versions, is equipped with:

— a normal trunk (instead of aluminum “horns”);

— inverted adjustable front fork, spacers that increase the height of the steering wheel;

— a disc rear brake, a reinforced 520 chain, a kick starter and my pride — a “weightless” lithium-ion battery.

The Enduro 200 is a copy of the Chinese Qingqi QM200GY motorcycle, which is a fairly accurate, although thoroughly modernized, copy of the Suzuki Djebel 200. The model is quite famous and was sold in many countries, including the USA and Portugal, in the languages of which there is a service in the public domain. manuals, which I consider an important advantage.

My Baltmotors compares favorably with our well-known classmate M1NSK X200:

— overhead engine (copy of a Suzuki engine), with an oil filter;

— aluminum rear suspension pendulum, more durable aluminum wheel rims, more advanced Japanese CV carburetor;

— quite durable plastic (less brittle than the X200), as well as a reusable foam air filter in a sealed filter box (a solution used on all “adult” off-road vehicles).

New in Minsk, with a one-year warranty from an official dealer, the motorcycle cost me $1,950. There was no limit to the joy. Unloading the motorcycle from the trailer, I couldn’t wipe the goofy smile from my face - compared to the Honda, the bike seemed weightless. The white color with green stickers was pleasing to the eye, and the build quality inspired confidence.

I haven’t been waiting for spring for a long time with such agony! After reading the relevant forums on the model, I decided to first rebuild the rear suspension (there was information that the factory skimped on the grease in the bearings). I was pleased with the build quality - I did not notice a single connection that was not tightened. Looking ahead, I will say: of all the connections, only the bolt securing the heat shield of the muffler spontaneously unscrewed. The problem was solved by purchasing a bolt and placing both fastening bolts on the “grovers”. That's all the problems with build quality that surfaced during operation. There was also enough lubrication in the suspension everywhere, except for the spherical bearings of the shock absorber, where I generously added it myself. By the way, these bearings are one of the few structural weak points of the motorcycle: with hard use they break quite quickly and require replacement, but at the same time they have a rare standard size, which makes it impossible to select an analogue from us - you have to order from China.

There was no strength to wait any longer; as a result, the first departure was made while there was snow in the forest.

Thanks to its light weight, the motorcycle maintained decent handling even in such difficult conditions. That didn’t stop me from losing control when trying to move over a slippery log lying at an angle to the track. Unfortunately, the direction of travel chosen by the motorcycle intersected with a pine tree growing in the forest. I fell nearby, but the bike, falling on its side, fell straight into it (by the way, never neglect protective equipment, especially in the forest!). The front wing fell victim. Despite the very good quality of the plastic by Chinese standards (by the way, the road version of Motard has flimsier plastic), it is still much inferior to “rides” with friends. I made a lot of new acquaintances, saw many interesting places in our country and seriously improved my off-road driving skills. The motorcycle gradually acquired useful tuning: a higher aluminum handlebar was purchased (with my height of 186, the standard one was too low for riding in a stand-up position, even taking into account the factory spacers of 3.5 cm), protection for the handles (they suffer when dropped), as well as folding mirrors (they can be removed when not needed to avoid damage).

At the end of the summer, I took a long-distance trip - my wife and I went to a motorcycle rally in Lida. The motorcycle easily withstood a trip along the highway with two riders, as well as luggage for two days of being outdoors for two (tent, sleeping bags, rugs, dishes, a change of clothes, etc.). On the way there, I kept a speed of about 100 km/h according to the speedometer, the consumption was about 5.7 l/100 km - it seems that this is the maximum that the engine can “eat” (the throttle was fully open, the tires were slightly underinflated). On the way back I kept the speed at 80-90 - the consumption decreased significantly.

During all this time, the motorcycle has never failed. The first breakdown occurred at exactly 5,000 km - the “native” Chinese chain still could not withstand the abuse and came loose along the connecting link. One end of it gathered into an accordion under the protection of the front sprocket and broke several teeth on the sprocket (perhaps the “weakness” of the Chinese sprocket saved the crankcase from breaking). In general, a weak chain (it stretched a lot throughout its service life, the front sprocket was “licked” by the time it had run 2000 km) is one of the few drawbacks of this motorcycle. I recommend that everyone replace it with a branded seal immediately after purchase.

At the very end of the season, already in late autumn, the “Steep Hills 2” enduro competition was held in Minsk. Especially for Chinese motorcycles assembled in the CIS countries, a separate class “National” was allocated - enduro produced in Russia, Belarus and other CIS countries with a power of up to 30 hp. I decided to take part. Having arrived to practice on the track (most of it was in a sand pit), I realized that there was nothing for me to do there on standard universal tires. As a result, a week before the race, a set of Mitas cross-country tires was purchased: S-20 100/100-18 rear, S-23 80/100-21 front. I chose tires designed for hard terrain in hopes of not wearing out too quickly when driving on asphalt. Looking ahead: the forecast was confirmed - they covered 5,000 km in a season and a half, and although the checkers are already “washed up”, I think I’ll get there this season.

The race turned out to be very tense. The route was replete with steep climbs, logs and areas with deep sand, in which even cross-country tires did not always help. There was also a small ford. Plus, the drizzling autumn rain made the clay sections of the route as slippery as ice. The result was a lot of falls and retirements; several riders were let down by equipment.

But Baltmotors showed itself to be a great guy, enduring all the challenges with steadfastness. As a result, I took fifth place out of 12 participants in the National class. Of the breakdowns during the race, I can only remember the plastic that was cracked in a couple of places, which required sand to be removed from the turn signal control panel, and the license plate mount that was finally broken off (also a weak point of the motorcycle, it’s better to redo it right away to avoid the risk of losing the “number”). I got home through the whole city on my own.

So, at 5300 km, my first season on the “Chinese” ended.

Over the winter, the motorcycle was put in order, and I met the next season fully armed. The cross-country tires installed for racing made it possible to feel much more confident off-road, but at the same time behaved tolerably on asphalt. A couple of times I attended motorcycle gymkhana (high-speed maneuvering on motorcycles) training sessions in Minsk, and even in a light drizzling rain the bike held the road quite confidently. The only problem is that when off-road, the gears turn out to be “forked”, when the second one does not pull up the hill, and on the first one the engine has to be over-twisted. I solved the problem by replacing the rear sprocket with a larger diameter sprocket (as far as I remember, 39 teeth versus 36 on the “native” one). Traction has improved significantly, most obstacles are tackled in 2nd gear with a reserve of revs.

That year, enduro competitions grew into a whole series, Enduro 4 seasons, consisting of four races, each dedicated to its own time of year. For the Chinese “200”, it allocates a separate class B1 - motorcycles produced in the former CIS countries with a power of up to 20 hp. Unfortunately, I missed the winter and spring stages, but I took part in the summer and immediately won the victory in my class. The motorcycle showed its good side again. Among the problems, I can name only two squeezed out oil seals (the gearbox foot shaft and the drive sprocket), either due to overheating or due to falls. Fortunately, their selection and replacement did not cause any difficulties. Also during the race the speedometer broke, the needle froze on o. During the race, such speeds were not even close - this is a pebble in the garden of some journalists who, in articles about accidents, like to photograph speedometers frozen at crazy speeds.

In general, the motorcycle surprisingly withstands the loads that fall on it, which were clearly not intended by the designers. In addition to participating in competitions, I regularly train myself on improvised enduro trails. The engine behaves normally (I use fully synthetic branded oil), the suspension has never suffered a single blow, although there are some small jumps and driving over logs. Yes, most likely the frame will not withstand a ride on a motocross track, but for a frankly budget motorcycle the performance is quite decent.

At the end of the 2016 season, the autumn stage of the Enduro 4 seasons series took place. It turned out to be tough again, and I managed to get lost and ended up on a track for sports enduro motorcycles. The result was many falls of varying severity, due to which the aluminum steering wheel was bent. The broken speedometer already shows 90 km/h. Result: 3rd place in class.

I was so inspired by the results of such a busy season that I decided to try not to close it at all and made a foray “in the first snow.” As it turned out, even cross-country tires (without studs) hold compacted snow “in no way.” That is, you can ride, but like a cow on ice - the slightest loss of concentration threatens to fall. And so it happened: having driven a decent distance from the house, I fell. As a result of the fall, the driver's footrest was broken off. Having somehow hobbled home, I came to the conclusion: it is better to avoid the combination of Chinese metal and Belarusian frost. Let the owners of “hard” enduro rides in winter. The season was declared closed at 9150 km.

Reviews

Thanks to the numerous reviews from owners shared by motorcycle buyers, it is possible to obtain detailed information about the work of Motard.

Running in is one of the important manipulations, which, if carried out correctly, can avoid many breakdowns later. In addition, it is worth servicing the bike on time. Then you don’t have to worry, even if you want to travel relatively long distances. The motorcycle is reliable and economical.

An equally important feature of Motard is its safety. Reliable brakes, even at high speed, will help avoid accidents. And high-quality plastic from Polisport with an elegant matte finish is not afraid of damage.

Baltmotors Motard 200: technical specifications, reviews

Baltmotors MOTARD 200 DD. Personal experience.

I started choosing a motorcycle even before I got my license, at the stage of studying traffic rules. Near the place where I worked at that time, there were two motorcycle dealerships with Japanese and Chinese equipment. Where I was a regular guest, I came every day, tormented the sellers and drooled over the motorcycles!

At first I wanted to take a Yamaha YBR 125, but after riding it at a driving school, I somehow decided against it. For some reason I felt uncomfortable sitting on it, even though it was the right size for me. Therefore, I headed to a store with Chinese equipment and spent a long time rushing from road workers to choppers. I didn’t really have any idea what class I wanted. After much torment of choice, I decided to take Stealth Flame 200. And then I saw it! Baltmotors Motard 200 DD. I liked it very much, I immediately sat down on it and was a little upset, it turned out to be tall for my 160 cm height. I thought I wouldn’t be able to ride it, but my friends convinced me that it wasn’t necessary to touch the ground with both feet, it was enough to stand with one. Glad that I could drive like this, I finally bought it!

Here it is, my first motorcycle! My Dragon!

Engine type: single-cylinder four-stroke air-cooled Starting system: electric starter Displacement: 199 cm3 Maximum power: 11.5 (15.6) / 8000 kW (hp) / rpm Transmission: Mechanical 5-speed Front/ rear brake: disc / disc Front / rear tire: 2.75-21 / 4.10 -18 (Enduro) 110/70-17 / 130/70 -17 (Motard) Overall length/width/height: 2120 / 800 / 1180 mm Wheelbase: 1400 mm Dry weight: 126 kg Tank capacity: 10.6 l.

The motard handles perfectly, it is narrow, maneuverable, and will fit in any aisle, especially in traffic jams! The seating position is comfortable and straight. It's very easy to steer, you ride like you're riding a bicycle. Confidently pulls from the very bottom (relatively). The steering wheel and mirrors are higher than car mirrors, which is very convenient. True, due to strong vibrations of the motorcycle, the mirrors shake and sometimes unscrew. The license plate was also badly damaged by vibrations. But, I think, if you immediately install a frame under it, the number will remain intact. For me it cracked almost in half. Somewhere after a week of driving, the throttle started to stick. As it turned out, iron shavings had collected under it and prevented the handle from returning to its original position. The instrument panel is quite simple and readable, but there is no fuel gauge, which is not very convenient.

Baltmotors Classic 200: what is it and what is it eaten with?

Cruiser looks nice, but is expensive. Baltmotors offers beginners an affordable alternative - the inexpensive BM 200 Classic chopper, lightweight, compact and attractive. Is it worth paying attention to it?

The union of companies from China and Russia gave novice motorcyclists the opportunity to join the two-wheeled world for a fairly modest amount. The Baltmotors Classic 200 model is a fairly typical Chinese bike, assembled in Kaliningrad at the Baltmotors enterprise from components produced in the Middle Kingdom. Of course, it’s difficult to call it a full-fledged cruiser - in this class, deformed V-shaped engines of impressive volume rule the roost. The BM Classic 200 received only a 200 cc single-cylinder engine, the same as that installed on a number of other models from this manufacturer. However, it tries its best to be “just like a chopper” - here you have an old-fashioned appearance, and the shine of chrome, and a 56-size seat.

Baltmotors Classic 200 replaced another model - BM Classic 125, which, however, went almost unnoticed. Its release did not last long, and few people had even heard of it, and soon the company replaced the 125 cc engines on its motorcycles with 200 cc ones, modifying everything else. As a result, the public received budget bikes of various classes that were good for their price, which may well appeal to some beginner as their first motorcycle.

Baltmotors Motard 200 DD: created for the city

Selling Baltmotors motards in our country is crazy. But buying is a smart choice. This is what Dmitry Novitsky thinks after a test drive of the Baltmotors Motard 200 DD.

Why is there a motard in the city? Because this class of motorcycle is like a pass for all types of city riding. Motard, “born” from enduro, is simply irreplaceable in a big city. The motard is narrow, which means it will fit between rows in any traffic jam. Motard is “jumpy” - motard suspensions have evolved from cross-country racing, having gone through the enduro stage, so the bike is not afraid of curbs and stairs. The motard is lightweight, so it is easier to control than a bicycle. But!

Nobody needs Motard in Minsk. You see, this is a different level of thinking, a different level of consciousness. Our country in general and Minsk in particular are still suffering from “liters” and superbikes. Motorcycle culture is still at the Neanderthal level “I want at least a liter”, and if enduro, then at least 650 “cubes”. And only when the country gets sick of “sports” and “liters”, when there is a feeling that “sports” are uncomfortable and big enduros are too heavy, then the era of a civilized perception of the motorcycle will come.

Therefore, selling new motards in Minsk now means being two steps ahead of society.

Moreover, selling Baltmotors in Belarus when we have our own manufacturer nearby. Although the Baltmotors plant is also located nearby, in Kaliningrad. The story of its origin is quite simple: the founding father wanted to expand the business, began looking for projects and began assembling scooters, mopeds, and motorcycles. Partners from China send vehicle kits, they are assembled in Kaliningrad, and then the equipment is distributed throughout Russia, including Belarus. The Baltmotors brand is quite young, but it is already popular in the neighboring country: in terms of price and quality ratio, it is now relevant for post-Soviet countries.

So, let's start the test drive. On stage we have a motorcycle with a dry weight of 126 kg, engine capacity of 200 cc. cm, power - 15.6 hp. Price - about 2800 dollars. What does the buyer get for this money? A good city rocket, a universal motorcycle for almost all occasions.

For a 200 cc engine, Baltmotors runs very well: the licensed Suzuki engine is the best thing about this motorcycle. The power unit is gentle and affectionate, like a woman after a good night - the engine pulls confidently from the very bottom and spins well. At the same time, the gears are selected in such a way that you don’t feel a lack of power. It is clear that this is not a “liter”, but for its volume the motorcycle is quite playful and leaves the traffic light first.

And this despite the fact that the engine has not been broken in - after the break-in it will become even more fun. The engine’s “appetite” is modest: in my driving mode it turned out to be about 3.5 liters, after break-in it will probably be less. The gearbox operates smoothly and neutral is easy to find. Therefore, the power unit does not have a “Chinese” feeling at all. Although there could be less vibration on the footrests, sometimes there is more “itching” than we would like.

Personally, this is what I need for the city. More motor, perhaps, is scary: you want it and it hurts. I know myself: I’ll start driving “on eyebrows”, which at best will end in deprivation of my “rights”, but I don’t even want to think about the worst. The same applies to the situation “the little son came to his father.” If a child demands a motorcycle from his dad, a 200 cc motard will be the way out of the situation. It's not overly fast, and it's not scary. At the same time, the specific problem of movement in the city is solved brilliantly. The only thing missing is at least a semblance of a trunk - the small arches at the back serve no function other than decorative.

If you drive not too aggressively, then not only the engine, but also the chassis are enough. The suspensions allow you to “hit” on any road at a fairly high speed and not be afraid of potholes. If you do complex aerobatic maneuvers, you will want to make the front fork stiffer. I looked online and people have already found recipes, so there is room for a little tweaking.

After two days in the Baltmotors saddle, I was increasingly pleased with its adaptability to city riding. In the city it is beautiful: light, simple, understandable. You go around traffic jams between rows or “jump” along curbs. Everything in the device is harmonious.

It’s better not to go off-road with such tires. I went to the quarry in Staiki - it all ended with a fall out of the blue. Chinese road tires work too harshly on sand: one minute you drive without problems, then bam! - you’re not going anymore.

In mud, rubber also instantly becomes washed out. You get off the motorcycle, but it still stands still. Dirt flies onto the engine, gets thrown onto your feet - in a word, for the village it is better to buy an enduro. Motards' habitat is the city, because with such tires you can corner well, which is more important in the city.

Therefore, we return to where we started: there is no class of motorcycle more convenient for city riding than a motard. But for the price of this Baltmotors you can buy a sawed-off Honda Transalp - who can resist this temptation?

Therefore, I personally have great doubts about the popularity of this motorcycle in Minsk. And that’s why I have a lot of respect for those who are trying to sell it: a spark will ignite a flame somewhere out there, in the future. Tomorrow, or maybe the day after tomorrow, people who have “played enough” of “sports” and heavy enduros will understand that it is better to buy what they really need, and not exorbitant power or spectacular appearance. But this will clearly not be now, but later.

And now I suggest you watch one video:

A young guy became interested in stunt riding, asked for a motard at the Baltmotors plant, they gave it to him - that’s what he shows people. In principle, everything is what I wrote: an understandable, obedient motorcycle.

Let's summarize. We were sincerely pleased with the engine and gearbox: they live in perfect harmony - a very harmonious couple. The brakes left a good impression. The motorcycle has a comfortable seating position and good suspension.

One of the unpleasant moments is the “disposable” feeling from the Baltmotors stickers on the decorative external plastic. Excessive vibrations on the footrests. Plus some sloppy assembly: some nuts were poorly tightened. And the price is quite high: “Chinese” ones with names a la “Oriental Dragon” are cheaper.

BM Classic 200 inside and outside

The BM 200 Classic motorcycle is an ordinary Chinese chopper . There's no punchy low-end torque, no impressive mass, none of the things that make a cruiser a cruiser. But it should be noted that the bike is quite good in its price category. If you don’t expect miracles from him, but treat him as a road worker, externally stylized as a chopper, he will not disappoint. The technical characteristics of the Baltmotors Classic 200 are not enough stars from the sky, but they are quite consistent with its price.

Technical characteristics of Baltmotors Street 200 DD

Against the background of numerous Chinese, Baltmotors Street 200 DD stands out in the best possible way. It does not seem to be a counterfeit of any well-known model of European or Japanese production, and at the same time its appearance can be called classic and even strict. Some bikers notice that it slightly resembles the Honda CB250F Hornet, but only vaguely, and there is no smell of any attempt at copying here. It is especially gratifying that the Kaliningrad concern not only focused on design, but also made sure that the Baltmotors Street 200 had decent technical characteristics.

The motorcycle weighs a lot, about 140 kg , but it is also well equipped. In a simple tubular frame, the engineers placed a 199 cc air-cooled engine, which, by the way, is very high-torque, and confidently accelerates the bike to a maximum speed of 110 km/h . The engine is capable of producing 15.6 hp. and 14.5 Nm , and it loves high speeds, but there are practically no parasitic vibrations. The seating position is very comfortable, and thanks to well-thought-out ergonomics, you don’t have to reach forward, despite the fact that the Baltmotors Street 200 DD has clip-ons instead of a steering wheel.

The brakes also deserve praise. was generous with as many as three brake discs, two at the front (with 2-piston calipers) and one at the rear (with 1-piston) . The combination of good handling, decent traction in the first half of the rev range and an effective braking system make this motorcycle perfectly suited for maneuvering in city traffic, and the 16-liter gas tank guarantees a range of up to 500 km without refueling , since fuel consumption usually does not exceed 3-3. 5 liters per 100 km . It is impossible not to mention the suspension: at the rear there is a regular pendulum with a monoshock absorber, but at the front there is an inverted fork, moderately long-stroke and energy-intensive.

Pros and cons of BM Classic 200

Advantages

  • Appearance. The bike looks really decent, much more expensive than it actually costs. Especially if you don't look closely.
  • Good standard equipment. Already in stock, the Baltmotors 200 Classic is equipped with a fuel level sensor, plastic side cases, a battery charge level sensor, a gear engaged indicator and one completely useless device - a light bulb signaling an incoming call to a mobile phone.
  • Abundance of chrome. Here it covers a great many external parts.
  • Modest fuel consumption - about 3.5 liters per 100 km . The bike digests AI-92 , thanks to the simple and reliable carburetor.
  • Gas tank volume. As much as 13.8 liters - this is enough to travel hundreds of three kilometers without refueling.
  • Affordable price. A new bike was inexpensive, and on the secondary market you can even buy it for a thousand dollars, give or take.

Flaws

  • Search for spare parts. It is fraught with a number of difficulties - sometimes even the dealer does not have the necessary hardware, and you have to wait for an order for several months.
  • Bad brakes. They would be enough for a pit bike or a 50 cc scooter, but for a bike weighing one and a half centners they are clearly not enough.
  • Compact sizes. If you are taller than 180 cm, you will not be able to sit comfortably on the Baltmotors Classic 200.
  • Poor quality chrome. After a couple of years it begins to peel off.
  • The fuel level sensor, judging by the opinions of the owners of the Baltmotors Classic 200, is constantly lying.
  • Sluggish acceleration dynamics - after 80 km/h the motorcycle picks up speed extremely reluctantly. Given the weak brakes, perhaps this is for the best.

BM Motard 200 universal motorcycle of the SUPERMOTO class

Basic data of Baltmotors Motard 200 : motorcycle engine capacity 200cc, joint Russian-Chinese production, universal purpose. The bike successfully combines the qualities of a road motorcycle and an enduro bike.

The review of motorcycles of the medium cubic capacity class allows us to conclude that the Motard 200 will reliably perform the functions of a road and enduro motorcycle.

The design of the motorcycle is based on analogues - the Japanese Suzuki Motard and the Chinese Qingqi Dragon . The manufacturing technology of BM Motard models has undergone many years of strength testing. Thanks to the high ground clearance, the motorcycle can be ridden on dirt roads and, as some drivers like, jump over curbs in the city.

For the driver of a Motard 200 bike, the engine size of the motorcycle allows you to safely ride around the city, but without racing dynamics. The engine is a single-cylinder, licensed, Suzuki DR model range, started by an electric starter. permissible gasoline consumption is 2.6 liters at rated load, up to 3.5 liters on difficult roads.

If you review road motorcycles and compare their technical characteristics with the data for the Motard 200, then the characteristics of the Motard are weaker than those of road bikes. If we compare it with the data for enduro, it doesn’t lose here. Positive characteristics: small turning radius, disc brakes, reinforced brake hoses, aluminum crankcase protection, high-profile tires. The result is good handling, optimal braking, and reliable traction.

The cost of new is attractive to buyers, amounting to a little more than 80 thousand rubles. The design, versatility of the motorcycle and reinforced suspension make it popular among young people. Technical data:

  • Length - 2120mm
  • Width - 830mm
  • Height - 1140mm
  • Wheelbase - 1405mm
  • Fuel tank - 10.6 liters
  • Dry weight - 126 kg.
  • Engine - ONS/2
  • Air cooling
  • Volume - 199cc
  • 4-stroke, 1-cylinder,
  • Kick starter + electric
  • Power - 15.6 hp (according to driver reviews)
  • Speed - 85 km/h (max 100 km/h).
  • Front telescopic suspension
  • Suspension rear pendulum shock absorber
  • Front and rear disc brakes
  • Transmission 5 speed manual
  • Multi-plate clutch

BM Motard is an inexpensive all-round motorcycle option for beginners. But if we take into account the Chinese build quality, then it is advisable, without waiting for the end of the maintenance period, to change the consumables to branded ones, and lubricate all bearings and components with oil. Many drivers do not recommend that novice drivers ride a motorcycle while standing.

BM Motard 200 is a motorcycle for driving on difficult city and country roads.

Main competitors

  • Keeway Superlight 200 . Another “Chinese”, similar to the BM 200 Classic, like a twin brother. But it costs more.
  • Regal Raptor DD150E . This model was once sold on the Russian market, and is still sometimes found on sale. But the situation with spare parts for it is now very bad - they are almost impossible to find.
  • OMAKS Chopper . A motorcycle remembered mainly for its low build quality and low price. It is still available for sale second hand and is cheap.
  • Lifan LF 250. It is a copy of the Yamaha XV 250 Virago, it is distinguished by a V-shaped 2-cylinder engine, good by class standards of dynamics and high reliability. Mostly on sale is its modified version - Lifan LF 250B.

Reviews from BM Classic 200 owners

I bought a 2011 motor in 2021 in the summer, with a mileage of 4k km, one owner for the entire time. For the last couple of years, the bike has been gathering dust in the owner’s garage and hasn’t been ridden at all, so all the seals and anthers have dried out. I had to put my hands on some little things, bring it to fruition, and re-route the wiring in a normal way. I drove it myself for two seasons, put 15 thousand km on the wheels and sold it to the new happy owner, and bought myself a Honda Shadow 1100. My impressions from Baltmotors were positive, there were no problems. Ivan, Voronezh, Baltmotors Classic 200 '2011

I chose a chopper with a budget of up to 90k, read reviews from owners of the BM 200 Classic, looked at a review of it on YouTube, but still couldn’t decide. But the Japanese didn’t fit into my budget, so I ended up buying a BM with a mileage of 18,000 km. I skated on it for a season, then sold it and took Steed. The motorcycle feels like a vegetable; it doesn’t ride, doesn’t brake, doesn’t steer. There are some assembly flaws, but not critical, and it doesn’t fall apart while running. Vitaly, Moscow, Baltmotors Classic 200 '2012

An ordinary cheap Chinese, well worth the money, but if you have the opportunity to expand your budget, you should take a Japanese one and not even think about it, it’s just heaven and earth. On a limited budget, this is a normal toy to learn how to ride and use your hands from time to time. Yaroslav, St. Petersburg, BM 200 Classic '2012

Summary

There are a lot of budget motorcycles with Chinese roots, but not so many small-capacity affordable cruisers. Baltmotors Classic 200 is a representative of budget bikes of this class that are quite rare in Russia. Of course, it also has competitors, but most of them were sold for a short time, after which dealers curtailed supplies, so there are no spare parts for them and are not expected. For the BM 200 Classic, according to reviews, you also have to look for spare parts, but at least dealers and official representatives of the company have not disappeared. It is quite good as a first motorcycle for a beginner, but, most likely, you will get tired of it very quickly, and you will have to change it to a more powerful two-wheeled steel horse.
