Russian motorcycle manufacturers, despite the large selection of Japanese and Chinese equipment, still try to please consumers with excellent new products, and in 2015 the IMZ company introduced a number of new models.
Today, most of them are available for sale throughout Russia; to buy a Ural motorcycle, you just need to find a dealership; the company has several dozen of them throughout the country. At the time of 2015, the manufacturer was able to introduce 7 new models, differing from each other in shape and some characteristics. Most of the new products are already familiar to you from Soviet times, but the essence of the updates is to add new, more modern characteristics to the motorcycles, such as improved brakes, a more advanced engine system, etc.
Technical characteristics of motorcycles Ural 2015
It is worth noting that all 7 models have quite a lot in common; each of them contains:
- powerful 750cc boxer engine;
- constant air cooling;
- 4-speed gearbox with the ability to drive in reverse.
Even as children, we had to remember the same boxer engine of Ural motorcycles, which produced excellent speed data. Now the manufacturer has decided to modify the motorcycle, increasing its volume and power. Having bought a new model, you will not only be satisfied with the purchase, but also forget for a long time about the main defects and frequent breakdowns of the old Urals. The new models have received improvements, so that now oil will not leak from the engine.
The new Ural 2015, photos of which will be below, are especially popular today in the United States. Such equipment is valued there, although in Russia it is losing demand due to the high price for consumers. In 2015 and beyond, IMZ motorcycles are mostly supplied to the USA.
Six of the seven 2015 models retained the standard stroller, only the Retro Solo did not receive one. All new products, without exception, now have the ability to engage reverse gear, and the Patrol and Gear Up models now have all-wheel drive. Urals have always been spoken about positively in terms of cross-country ability, because the motorcycle could get out of any difficult situation. With the new all-wheel drive, 2 models can overcome these barriers even better with the push of just 1 lever. As mentioned above, motorcycles are of different types, for example, the “Retro Solo” model does not have a sidecar, which makes it great for traveling and driving around the city.
Of course, the new products have one big drawback that repels customers - the high price. On average, 2015 models are asking from 500 to 700 thousand rubles, and most people buy Japanese fast bikes. But still, some fans of Soviet classics will buy them and feel nostalgic when riding Ural road motorcycles. Let's take a quick look at some of the new Ural motorcycles 2015, photos and their characteristics.
MY MOTORCYCLE
Today I want to talk about an unusual representative of the Irbit motorcycle industry. What could be unusual about it? We are all used to the fact that Urals have always been produced with sidecars and few people dreamed of a single model, but the motorcycle plant, I think, surprised everyone by starting the production of single vehicles.
Why suddenly? In the 90s, the demand for motorcycles with sidecars fell, and the Irbitsky plant decided to save the situation by releasing a single Ural “Solo” model, and then the oppositionists’ dream came true. After all, they tried to convert wheelchair users into singles and encountered more than one problem, but here everything is ready right away, you just need to complete it “for yourself” and ride. An inexpensive, reliable and powerful motorcycle with a low, straight handlebar and a classic riding position has become very popular among fans of city riding.
So, let's start with the motorcycle itself: the motorcycle is a bit surprising and pleases with a lot of chrome. There are many of them: fenders, mufflers, arches, wheel rims. In combination with the strict black color of the remaining parts, they give the car a solid and at the same time festive look. When it appeared, it immediately attracted the attention of not only ours, but also foreign fans of this style of motorcycle.
Actually, it was prepared for production with the expectation of the foreign market. Most of the plant's products are sold abroad (USA, England, France, and, more recently, China). But domestic fans were not forgotten; they also dropped a little, and “Solo” began to appear in our stores in scanty quantities. Most of the differences from the base model IMZ-8.103-10 concern the appearance. The Solo is equipped with two small mufflers (Nikonov exhaust system), gracefully raised at the rear and protecting the passenger’s legs from hot surfaces. Another thing that immediately catches your eye is the double mono-saddle and the side decorative plastic panels (the tool, as before, is stored in a drawer on the tank). Elements of passive safety include roll bars with reliable fastening to the frame and folding footrests for the driver and passenger. The front fender—it has become a little smaller—attached to the fork stays is unsprung.
Increasing the compression ratio to 8.5 due to spherical head pistons raised the engine power to 29.5 kW (40 hp) and requires the use of AI-93 gasoline. In new pistons, the piston pin axis is shifted 1 mm from its axis of symmetry - this reduces engine noise and cylinder wear. In addition, the “heart” of the motorcycle has become more “environmentally friendly” due to the use of a closed crankcase ventilation system. The gearbox has “lost” reverse gear - it is not needed for single driving. The Solo uses electronic non-contact ignition, which does not require adjustment during operation and ensures reliable engine starting even with a partially discharged battery.
The reduction in the weight of the motorcycle and its total load capacity (225 and 175 kg, respectively) entailed a change in the suspension characteristics: the latter became softer. Leaving the hydraulic part of the shock absorbers unchanged, the developers lowered the stiffness of the springs by using wire with a diameter of 4 mm instead of 4.5 for the front and 7.5 mm instead of 8 for the rear.
The position of the lower support washers of the rear shock absorber springs has changed - they have dropped by 20 mm. Abandoning the sidecar and switching to 18-inch wheels required reducing the rear axle final drive ratio from 4.62 to 3.89. The Solo's maximum speed increased to 135 km/h, and fuel consumption was 5-7 l/100 km. The motorcycle can be equipped with a conveniently shaped fairing and plastic mudguards. The brake system remains the same drum type.
This was Solo at the beginning of its release, in the 90s. But I don’t finish the description here. I would like to show you now the modern model of this motorcycle. Of course, no major changes happened, but still…….
So, a more modern single Ural in our time:
Externally, it remains with a rich color and a good balance of painted and chromed parts. It looks good, as befits a classic motorcycle.
Brakes - the Irbitsk residents finally changed the front brake to a single-disc one. The front one, even in the single-disk version, copes with its functions perfectly. The rear one was left as a drum type, but considering that no oil flows from the axle, nothing slippery will get on the pads, which means its efficiency is quite sufficient.
The tank is a “droplet”, its appearance is impressive, the lid on it is of a new design and is airtight. Now I would like to talk about the configuration: Irbitsk residents probably decided that they had made an eternal motorcycle, it would never break. Apparently they think so at the factory, since there is no space for tools. But - this, of course, is just terrible - but the tire pump is fixed in the most visible place. Although this is a small thing that can be eliminated.
The motorcycle has two options for completing seating positions: the basic model has a single seat, which is characterized by a rubber coating, or a double seat. In addition, there is the possibility of having two single seats. The price for the basic configuration of the Ural Solo motorcycle is about 215 thousand Russian rubles, which is considered a very competitive price compared to models from competing manufacturers.
The increase in cubes did not affect the power of the motorcycle in any way. The engine power is enough for dynamic acceleration. It feels like it’s not 40 l/s, but all 60.
The gearbox works, of course, well and clearly. But some shortcomings remained, for example, the long stroke of the lever. And most importantly, the fifth speed never appeared; as compensation there is a lever for quickly engaging neutral, as well as reverse gear (they returned it). On the Ural Solo-Classic, these options are not superfluous; even at a traffic light, it’s convenient to set the lever to neutral, and reverse gear helps when parking.
The two-cylinder engine runs on AI-92 gasoline. The motorcycle tank holds nineteen liters of gasoline.
The ignition system of this motorcycle is microprocessor-based, which ensures quick and easy starting of its engine. Fuel consumption per hundred kilometers in the urban cycle ranges from five to six liters. The cruising speed of the motorcycle is one hundred and five kilometers per hour, and the maximum permissible speed is one hundred and twenty kilometers per hour.
The Ural Solo motorcycle is available in different colors and, as mentioned above, in different configurations, so that each potential buyer can choose one or another version of the model of this motorcycle, depending on taste preferences and financial capabilities. In the end, we can say that the motorcycle is really not bad, there are a lot of good improvements. But..... I haven’t seen them in Ukraine yet - they are supplying them to foreign markets and for their consumers! Why is that?

Motorcycle Ural ST
The new product was presented by the plant at the end of 2014 and was positioned as a representative of 2015. At the moment, the price of the model is 594,000 rubles. Particularly noteworthy are a number of positive innovations in the field of management. This indicator was improved by reducing the weight of the stroller and other structural elements. The model is perfect for beginner bikers.
The model's rims are 18 inches in size, and this is what has improved ground clearance and maneuverability. The engine with fuel injection, having a volume of 745 cubic meters, is responsible for excellent and reliable operation. The heavy road model reaches speeds of up to 110 km/h, with an average fuel consumption of 7.6 liters. The power declared by the manufacturer is 42 hp.
Engine
The motorcycle was equipped with a 649 cc four-stroke two-cylinder engine. cm, which had a power of 36 horsepower. In total, the entire motorcycle structure weighed 315 kilograms. The maximum speed was 105 km/h. Consumption per “hundred” varied from 7.5 to 8 liters. In general, the Ural for the police was no different from the equipment that was mass-produced for the mass buyer. The main difference was only in the special coloring of the stroller and motorcycle, as well as the presence of brackets, holders and other small features.
Motorcycle Ural Patrol
The most important advantage of this model is the presence of all-wheel drive, which is transmitted to the stroller wheel. Thus, you can operate the motorcycle both on city roads and off-road. The engine remains the same as other 2015 models. The design of the motorcycle is discreet, but the presence of a bright red color attracts primarily young people.
To cope with difficult road conditions, the manufacturer decided to install Marzocchi telescopic suspension and imported Sachs shock absorbers. The front disc brakes are hydraulic, from the famous Brembo company.
Motorcycle Ural Solo
The price of this motorcycle is 559,000 rubles, and the main advantage over other new products is its excellent design and the absence of a sidecar. That is, the motorcycle was originally created as a retro model with excellent characteristics. All the elements here are in harmony with each other, there is an old seat upholstered in leather, lots of chrome elements, black color of most of the builders and a teardrop tank.
This model seems to commemorate war times, which is emphasized by the design of the Ural Solo. The engine here is the same as in previous models, 2 cylinders and 745 cc. With such overall dimensions, the new product can drive perfectly around the city even in heavy traffic.
Motorcycle Ural Gear-Up
At the moment, this is one of the most expensive Ural models of 2015, its price is 648,000 rubles. The basis for creating the motorcycle was the Tourist model, but among the improvements the following were made:
- new roll bars;
- drive to the sidecar wheel (all-wheel drive motorcycle);
- new color options: Forest Camouflage, Desert Camouflage and Forest Fog;
- new lights and cases appeared.
In appearance, the new product shows its power and desire to conquer even the most difficult road. As a result, the manufacturer was able to create a motorcycle that has good cross-country ability, 19-inch wheels, a large trunk, high ground clearance and the latest imported electrical equipment. The result can be seen in the photo.
Modifications used
With the advent of the Ural M-72, the Ministry of Internal Affairs immediately acquired their own vehicle. After the M-72, it was replaced by a new motorcycle, the K-750. However, the most widely used model is the Ural M-67-36. For a long time, this motorcycle served faithfully to law enforcement agencies. New models of three-wheeled vehicles were distinguished by an overhead valve engine. By order of N.A. Shchelokov began to paint service motorcycles in bright colors, combining predominantly yellow and blue. Even after motorcycles were replaced by cars, they have not lost their relevance. The IMZ-8.103 remained in demand, for which the Ural-2 series motorcycle of the 1976 model became the basis. Initially, the equipment was called IMZ-M-67-36II, where II denoted the patrol modification, which received a bright color and a bracket for a walkie-talkie.
As for the M-67, this version was significantly different from its predecessors in the 60s and 70s. First of all, electrical equipment: this motorcycle has an electrical system with a car voltage of 12 V. The presence of a voltage of 12 V instead of the standard 6 V for that time was especially important, since it made it possible for the police to install a loudspeaker, walkie-talkie and other related equipment. The modified electrical circuit corresponded to a new 150 W alternator with a rectifier unit and a new engine mounting bracket. Secondly, the M-67 has a different frame. The mounting posts for the rear pendulum fork were moved 20 mm back. Maintainability has improved: the gearbox was removed and the cardan coupling was changed without any difficulties. A reverse gear also appeared, which added to the ease of operation of the equipment.
