Motorcycles are different. Some of them are fast and powerful, others are beautiful and stylish. And there is the Baltmotors motard 250, which occupies its niche without snatching stars from the sky. This is a simple budget model, necessary for the daily trips of those who are surrounded by off-road conditions.
Undoubtedly, enduro lovers will also not pass by such a bike, since at first glance they will determine that this is something special that they can race on without breaking the bank. This is a balanced motorcycle that is worth talking about in more detail. This is exactly what we will do now, and we should start with the characteristics of the model.
How did the motard appear?
Their history begins in the seventies of the last century. Then American motorcyclists created a new motorcycle style. It was a symbiosis of a road and cross-country motorcycle. From a distance, it's an ordinary motocross motorcycle. Upon closer inspection, it turns out that its wheels, instead of cool motocross tires, have regular road tires. However, its off-road potential allows you to overcome any difficulties on the roads, overcome curbs, and even drive up stairs. These motorcycles are sometimes called supermotos. Under this name, since 1985, competitions on similar motorcycles have been held on looped asphalt or dirt tracks of relatively short length. Additionally, they are used for various tricks such as wheelie or wheelie. Particularly chic are exiting turns on the rear wheel during racing or skidding before entering a turn. The world's leading motorcycle manufacturing companies, quickly catching the feedback from motorcyclists, have mastered the production of such machines, which are extremely popular among extreme sports enthusiasts. The Russian company is also trying to keep up with them, offering the market several options for baltmotors motard. According to their technical characteristics, the baltmotors motard 200 and its more powerful brother the baltmotors motard 250 are ideal for urban conditions in terms of handling, dynamics and ergonomics. These narrow cars maneuver easily in city traffic jams and quickly pick up speed once they get out of them. This is largely due to their relatively light weight and ease of control. Cross ground clearance makes overcoming the toughest obstacles a hassle-free task. It is no coincidence that the popularity of these cars is growing, and people are willing to buy them.

Baltmotors Motard 250: characteristics
This is a model produced here in Russia. The power unit chosen is a four-stroke engine with a displacement of 250 cubic meters, capable of delivering power of 21 horses, which is quite respectable for the class. The Qingqi carburetor engine (manufactured under license from the Japanese) runs on AI-92 gasoline. Baltmotors motard 250 is equipped with an electric starter and an air-oil cooling system.
The motorcycle has a five-speed manual gearbox with a chain drive. The length of the Baltmotors motard 250 is 2120 mm, the height is 1140 mm, the wheelbase of the motorcycle is 1405 mm, and the ground clearance is 230 mm, which is quite enough for driving on any roads and even where there are none. Dry weight is approximately 140 kg, the fuel tank holds approximately 10.5 liters. The described motorcycle consumes approximately 3 liters of fuel in the combined cycle during moderate driving.
The Baltmotors motard 250 has a welded tubular frame made of high-quality steel. Hydraulic disc brakes. The front wheel has 110/70-17 tires, the rear tire is wider (130/70-17). The manufacturer declared a speed of 110 km/h as the maximum possible.
All components have reliable protection, and the motorcycle itself is enclosed in a stylish fairing made of high-quality durable plastic. The model is available in green-black and all-black versions.
On the way to perfection
Improvements are constantly being made to both of these machines. In recent years they have undergone a number of modernizations. As a result, they got:
- characterized by high strength chains and sprockets;
- tires of excellent quality with a high profile and strong sidewall;
- additionally reinforced 17-inch wheels;
- reliable disc brakes.
This makes for reliable grip on any road surface. Both baltmotors motard 200 dd and baltmotors motard 250 dd are equipped with powerful and reliable four-stroke engines manufactured under Japanese license. They have undergone ten years of testing in different modes. However, the first one is air cooled. It is traditional for most motorcycle engines. The increased power of the second required air-oil cooling. The cars have an electric starter and an electronic ignition system. Taking into account the operating conditions, the main units in the machines are reliably protected. Thus, the engine crankcase is protected from impacts from below with light and durable protection made of aluminum alloys.
The same function is performed by durable and aesthetic plastic cladding. The suspensions have sufficient travel, which, together with wide wheels and a hydraulic braking system, make it possible to pass the most difficult sections of both city and country roads. Both brakes effectively reduce the distance to a complete stop. This is also helped by reinforced hoses of the brake system, which is important in harsh operating conditions. This is best demonstrated by the 21-horsepower baltmotors motard 250 dd. Feedback from motorcycle owners confirms the correctness of the improvements made. These motorcycles are easy to ride. The driver has the opportunity to constantly monitor the car, receiving information about its condition. This is helped by the extremely clear dashboard. In addition to the speedometer and tachometer, it has a mileage counter. Special indicators show which gear is engaged and which direction the turn signal is turned on. Despite the narrow seat, the motorcycle is comfortable to sit on, and special footrests allow you to move while standing, which is necessary to overcome difficult obstacles. The efficient optics of modern design are pleasantly surprising. This greatly simplifies driving at night, especially on country roads. Numerous reviews also speak about this.

Baltmotors Motard 250: reviews
The motorcycle has established itself among buyers as a good workhorse, which is equipped with everything necessary, but lacks any frills. The design of the model is simple and reliable, which can also be said about the main components. Baltmotors Motard 250 does not have any obvious weak points.
The owners note the availability of all necessary spare parts and the relatively low price for them. In general, the motorcycle is good; it stands apart from its competitors from China, which cannot boast of such reliability.
Of course, the Baltmotors Motard 250 is inferior to its famous competitors, but it also costs less than them. It occupies an intermediate place between famous motorcycles from this class and Chinese analogues. This is what our lovers of riding on two wheels needed. There was clearly a lack of such a bike, but now we have it and it’s taking root very well.
Are you ready for Dakar?
Domestic motorcycle manufacturers are haunted by the achievements of motorcyclists at the world famous Dakar marathon rally. It was founded by French motorcycle racer T. Sabin in 1978. Before it was transferred to Latin America due to the danger of terrorist attacks, the capital of African Senegal, Dakar, was the starting or ending point of this race. This competition is traditionally held annually in the first month of the year. The length of the Dakar route is several thousand kilometers. The route goes along a variety of roads. Riders are forced to travel along:
- sands;
- dunes and dunes;
- rocky ground;
- rocks and salt marshes.
During the race there are often sandstorms and sometimes rain. The complexity of the Dakar route is such that a significant part of the starting cars do not reach the finish line. It is interesting that, along with professional racers and teams of auto and motorcycle manufacturers, numerous amateurs take part here. Their number may account for more than half of the participants, most of whom are motorcyclists and ATV riders. At one time, it was at these competitions that two-wheeled vehicles from world motorcycle brands convincingly proved their ability to successfully compete with four-wheeled all-terrain vehicles in such races. Therefore, the market demanded a machine capable of passing the most severe tests. This is how the baltmotors dakar 250 appeared. Motard with that name turned out to be a pretty cool motorcycle.
This model appeared on the roads in 2014. Its versions, called Dakar 250 Motard and Dakar 250 E, were intended for different purposes. The first is for the difficult conditions of a big city with its intense traffic and kilometer-long traffic jams. What was needed here was a dakar, capable of either trudging along at minimal speeds or instantly picking up speed when escaping from a jam. The second option was made for those who cannot imagine themselves without extreme off-road travel, mountains, and difficult road terrain. Reliability of Dakar cars is provided by a 28-horsepower liquid-cooled engine. They have excellent handling, stability in the most difficult conditions, and excellent maneuverability. This is achieved thanks to a balanced suspension, a strong and lightweight aluminum frame, light metal parts, and a fork that can be adjusted to suit the trail conditions.
Jumbo 700 quad equipment from Baltmotors
Good morning, BP. The moment has come when I should talk about the reliability of the Chinese cycle. Of course, I wanted to write “according to the canons” after 140 km of run about how incredibly reliable the kita is. And in general, a new Chinese one is better than a used Japanese one. Co-co-co. But I waited for a more or less decent mileage (although of course this is also not an indicator, since the bike’s mileage is only 12,000 km). However, the season is over. It's time to sum it up =)
Of course, the overall mileage is not great: 12,000 in total, and 8,000 of them are mine. The entire 2017 season, well, 90% more likely, I rode exactly this: BM 250 Motard. The history of the acquisition can be read in my earlier posts.
General impressions and operating modes
I took a motard with a mileage of a little over 4000 km. I took some rolls as a substitute for myself and so that my brother could learn to ride. Both tasks were completed successfully. Despite my aggressive driving style, I did not force the motard. The cruiser usually managed 80-90 km/h, although the moped could do 120 km/h. I prefer to use the motorcycle not at its maximum capabilities. During this season I managed to ride it both in -1 and +30. I drove on a short distance trip of 2500 km across Belarus.
Next, I’ll tell you about the pros and cons of the motorcycle that I encountered.
Minuses
1. Brakes. I always start with the brakes, because this is the most important thing. The brakes are very unpredictable. Unlike the rear brake, it is quite linear, and even surprisingly easy to use. 2. Chinese carburetor. Very unpredictable carburetor operation in cool weather. There is no way to cure it - only by replacing the carb. 3. Stock tires are absolutely perfect. They lose grip on wet asphalt instantly. 4. Stock chain - stretches like chewing gum. Mine is already on its way - I need to change it. 5. Quality of plastic - of course, from a moped priced at 120-130k new, you shouldn’t expect a miracle of plastic quality. But be aware that stock plastic is very fragile and unpleasant to the touch. 6. Tidying up. If it reflects the speed more or less adequately, then the tachometer needle jumps solely depending on the location of the Solaris in the parking lot in Syzran. This moment didn’t bother me personally 7. seal leaked at 11,000 km. 8. Short passes. It's very annoying to constantly click through gears. The first one doesn’t seem to exist at all, the second one for a couple of seconds.
pros
1. Of course this is accessibility. Our motorcycle was sold for 80,000 rubles. Unfortunately, the days when you could get a good 400th roll for 80k are gone. But for this money you can get a 2014. Chinese release. Not bad at all in my opinion. 2. Cost-effective. The 250cc engine consumed so little that I managed to travel about 250-300 km on a 9-liter tank. I would also consider maintenance costs to be economical. The brake pads are cheap, I put Lukoil semi-synthetic oil in them and everything works with a bang. 3. Suspension. Yes, oddly enough, I really liked the suspension. Soft, but without rocking. Progression for these included. 4. Easy to maintain. The motor was taken from a Suzuki TU250, don’t think that it’s a motard. No, even the 200cc BM is faster because... The engine there was copied from an endurka, and here from a classic. Therefore, the engine is lower and also airier. Very easy to maintain.

Did I like this motard?
Well, what an asshole, the moped is excellent. Especially if you don't have to travel far. Did I enjoy riding it? Honestly, no. The moped was purely a lifesaver. I don’t know if it’s possible to say that the moped is reliable, but for me personally, 12,000 km is not an indicator. It will be about 30,000 km - then we can draw some adequate conclusions. Although the one on the power supply lately, even 3000 km is already an indicator of reliability, but I have a different opinion. According to reviews, the engines run about 25-30k quietly. I even read about a copy with 60k miles, but I still can’t believe it. On the other hand, rebuilding this engine costs 5-6000 rubles. and business for 3-4 hours with beer in the garage. In general, the moped is suitable. Like an asshole or a study desk. Moreover, in my 8,000 km on it, it has never failed! I didn’t get any pleasure from him, but he helped me out a lot. Thank him for that!
