Baltmotors Jumbo 700 Standard: ATV review

The Baltmotors Jumbo 700 MAX Lux ATV retained all the advantages of the short-wheelbase model Baltmotors Jumbo 700. At the same time, the new model was extended by 192 millimeters, which made it possible to increase riding comfort for both the driver and the passenger. Also, due to the extended wheelbase, the manufacturer installed a comfortable seat on the ATV, which, by the way, is the longest among cars in its class. Its length is 900 millimeters.

This model is equipped with a body that has been increased both in length and width, which makes it possible to maintain the proportionality of the machine even with increased dimensions. Thanks to this, the ATV has excellent balancing, increased stability and very good handling. The increase in the wheelbase had a positive effect on the comfort of movement, since the ATV became softer on uneven surfaces than its predecessor. In addition, this added improved directional stability, making the vehicle suitable for conquering steep ascents and descents.

In this version, the passenger is placed in a separate seat, which has a backrest and “grassy” side handles. The seat here is installed on two levels, which provides excellent visibility for both driver and passenger. In order to provide additional convenience for the passenger, the ATV was equipped with wide footrests. The footrests have metal protection installed at the bottom, which guarantees their durability.

For off-road use, the manufacturer added several little things to the model, one of which is the gas tank cap. This element has a special plug and is locked with a key, which reliably protects the neck from dirt and other particles.

Reviews

  1. My brother bought himself a Baltmotors Jumbo 700 MAX Lux ATV. Now the car has over a thousand kilometers. Among the main problems, I would like to highlight that the all-terrain vehicle engine constantly stalled in reverse gear, and we did not know how to solve it. The car was produced in 2013 and, as you know, this year’s models still have previous flaws. One friend advised me to cut one of the wires that leads to the reverse sensor, since it is very buggy throughout the entire line. My brother did this, and the whole problem disappeared, the ATV began to work normally. But this is not the only drawback; it is also very difficult to start the engine in the cold. In all other respects, the ATV is quite pleasing, and some little things can be easily improved ourselves.
  2. Having ridden it for the first time after purchasing it, I noticed one malfunction on this ATV. It was a gear position sensor that prevented the equipment from being used normally. The problem was solved very quickly, probably in one minute. A friend has the same model, but from 2012, the original sensor is still there, and it has never failed, but worked as expected. Apparently my friend is luckier. My ATV is still pretty reliable. Over the past season, the quad covered about 3,000 kilometers without any breakdowns. There were some problems with the wiring, but they were solved by disconnecting the battery. I just don’t understand why this method works. The car has many more advantages. The ATV is very passable, maneuverable, powerful and economical, which I especially like.
  3. I own two ATVs. The first is an X6 with a mileage of 2,600 kilometers, and the second is a Baltmotors Jumbo, albeit with a carburetor. The mileage of the second one is currently 1100 kilometers. During the entire period of operation there were no serious breakdowns or malfunctions, but the plastic elements of the body were cracked in many places. Once my parking gear jammed, this was before 500 kilometers. This problem came at the wrong time, but miraculously they were able to fix everything. At a temperature of +30, the engine used to overheat, but then they installed the offset and everything became normal. This ATV feels faster than the same X6. I also liked the seat, which is larger and more comfortable. Ground clearance is also increased. During the run-in, the model still evoked vague feelings, but then I became convinced that, in principle, the equipment was worth the money, although it required some modifications.

Test drive of the Jumbo 700 Max Trophy R ATV

In the summer of 2014, our club conducted a test drive of the Jumbo 700 Max Trophy R ATV.

I constantly read company news and dealer news on the site. An interesting and correct approach. I'm rooting for the “first factory team”.

I got behind the wheel of an ATV for the first time in April 2014. I was choosing between the CF 800 and the Jumbo 700. Having weighed everything (the decisive factors were the victories of the Baltmotors Team and the Trophy equipment), I purchased the first Jumbo 700 Trophy R quad from a dealer in Kostroma, the Wild Cat salon.

I decided to immediately prepare to participate in local competitions as a team. To do this, at the beginning of June, I purchased a second Jumbo 700 Max Trophy R quad and took my employee Alexey into the team as a co-pilot and driver.

After running both devices, we installed, eliminated, and improved a number of faults that prevented participation in competitions. We carried out maintenance at the dealer and continued to roll up kilometers over rough terrain, gaining skills and experience in extreme control of combat ATVs.

We took part in all Kostroma competitions in 2014, in the disciplines: GPS orienteering, sprint, trophy, beach race.

The first competition “Susanin Trophy 2014” (July 25-28, 2014) - took 9th and 13th places. A sea of new information, new sensations, a new understanding of the tasks assigned to the team!

The second competition - “Jeep Poker 2014” (August 23, 2014) - took 3rd and 4th places. We walked through more calmly, more confidently, more smoothly.

The third - “Power Line 2014” (September 27, 2014) - took 4th and 5th places. We walked quickly, well, but in the tall grass my quad fell into a hole on the left side. They couldn’t pull it out for a very long time: the hole was the size of a square and about a meter deep with steep edges (the local residents dug out the cables after the missile unit was closed). We lost a lot of time, but still finished on time!

The fourth Trophy 2014 competition took place on October 25-26, 2014. We took 1st and 2nd places. We started in the morning in a frost of -19 degrees, took a long time to start and warm up. We finished in cold weather - 10 degrees. We were hot! The snow is 10 centimeters deep, and underneath there is soft mud and water. Racing in the first snow is a special pleasure: the ATV constantly drifts, there are no holes or puddles in sight.

Summing up the results of the competition, I can say that at all the special stages where we started, we reached the finish line on our own; during the entire first season, thank God, there were no retirements. “Balty” did not let us down, and neither did we.

We set ourselves the task of participating in the largest number of competitions to gain experience, since the knowledge gained at the race cannot be obtained anywhere else, no one can teach it. We met and made friends with the guys and girls from the Kostroma “Offroad 44” club; they have accumulated a huge amount of knowledge about off-road driving and everything connected with it. The Kostroma dealer “Bal” constantly supported us, helped us with advice and spare parts.

Of course, with such rather harsh operation there were some breakdowns:

  • Speed sensor: when engaging reverse gear, the engine stalled, when engaging forward gear, it began to shoot and lose speed on both ATVs. Turned it off completely.
  • The differential self-locked when the lever was in the lower position and the front axle was turned off; it was repaired at the dealer.
  • The 20 amp fuse from the battery blew, replaced it with a 30 amp fuse and the problem went away.
  • The standard headlights shine dimly - I installed additional lights.
  • The boot of the CV joint was worn out by the protection on the front arm, which was bent from the impact: I bought it from a dealer and replaced it.
  • We managed to crack the plastic only at 15 degrees below zero: the extensions and the rear fender.
  • The left joint jumped out of the rear gearbox and the retaining ring came off: it was fixed at the dealer.

In general, not much, but I must tell you. Maybe in the next devices they will remove it, replace it, or make it an option.

Now for many years before January the frosts are mild, there is almost no snow. Therefore, we train, build new routes, now we have experience in where and how to ride.

Plans for 2016-2017: skate at all local races and take part in neighboring areas on the “Bearhood” and “Rocket Trails”. Next, for 2021, we plan to apply for “ATV Day” and “Ladoga”.

Now we have organized an active recreation club “Gray Wolves of Kostroma” for our team. It currently has four active members. We are building a training base for the team, where there is: a parking lot, a wardroom, a kitchen, a bathroom, a dryer, a laundry room, a bedroom for eight people, a bathhouse, a warm workshop-garage, and access to the slopes. The club's program includes: organizing tourist programs on ATVs along trails of varying difficulty levels, with an ethnographic program for tourists who want to engage in active recreation.

God willing, see you at the races.
