Honling Boomerang 50 and Navigator 50 scooters: feel the difference
Scooter is a seasonal mode of transport. Of course, there are extreme sports enthusiasts who are ready to ride mopeds even in winter, but it is still more pleasant and easier to ride motor scooters in the warm season. And every year, with the beginning of spring, more and more two-wheeled vehicles appear on the streets of Russian cities, easily overcoming traffic jams to the envy of all motorists. And the stores offer a large selection of scooters - used and new, Japanese, European and Chinese - for every taste and budget.
An ordinary buyer, looking at the technical characteristics and descriptions of the Honling Boomerang 50 and Navigator 50 scooters, will conclude that the scooters are practically no different from each other. In fact, these scooters are as far from each other as Kaliningrad and Khabarovsk. It is not for nothing that the exclusive series of these scooters bear the names of two border cities in Russia.
If you put two scooters next to each other, the untrained eye will not immediately notice the differences. Identical dimensions, high-quality plastic housing. Both devices were specially developed by Honling for use in Russian conditions. The scooters presented for testing are equipped with 12” radius wheels and two rear shock absorbers. However, upon closer examination, the different design solutions of the front headlights of the models will catch your eye. Navigator's “eyes” seem to be slanted, which looks quite original. Taking a closer look at the appearance of the scooters, you will notice a different design of the dashboard. According to the official representative of the Hongling Corporation in Russia, Honling.ru (), there are no other differences in the scooters.
Under the neatly fitted plastic parts of both scooters, the same “filling” is hidden. The massive muffler is striking, so the scooter engine runs very quietly. Other advantages of mopeds include convenient filler necks for gas tanks and the fact that scooters have central stands. Among the external shortcomings found: uncovered wires that hang right in front of the rear wheel, and small volumes of the seat tank, where only an open helmet fits, and you cannot squeeze in an integral. There are no other places for luggage other than hooks on the front shields on mopeds. Another drawback was revealed when trying to start the scooter - the massive ignition key can be inserted into the lock either by thin female fingers, or it requires a long training.
First impressions - the Honling Boomerang 50 and Navigator 50 are spectacular, massive scooters that bear little resemblance to fifty-fifty scooters. However, the documents do not lie - honest fifty cubic meters. cm. These are the heaviest fifty dollars from the entire range of Honling scooters imported to Russia. 112 kg of dry mass requires real manly strength to not only load the device into a car, but also simply drive it to another place under its own power. Therefore, those who have their eye on one of these scooters should pay attention to this fact.
On the track, the scooter confidently holds the road and “stands” like a glove on the fast turns and hairpins of the race track. Shifting it from side to side in S-shaped bundles is a pleasure.
One of the shortcomings identified on the go is that the Boomerang's steering wheel constantly tried to catch on the knees, but the Navigator is free of this shortcoming with identical parameters of the scooters. Otherwise, the pilot is very comfortable. The non-slip seat is tailored to the standards of a large rider, the legs can be extended in a chopper style: on both sides of the front shield there are special protrusions for them. There is also room for a second rider, but it is not enough for a large passenger, who has 20 cm of space left and uncomfortable footrests. Otherwise, the scooter with 150 kg of weight on board pulls briskly even uphill.
I didn’t like the excessive stiffness of the rear suspension, which was clearly unbalanced with the rather soft front fork. However, these shortcomings did not stop me from racing around the range with pleasure.
The brakes caused complaints. On a new scooter, especially the Boomerang, they require grinding in and debugging. In addition, it turned out that both scooters are equipped with a simple ABS system with a bleed valve. One can understand the Chinese desire for technical progress, but is it justified in low-speed “fifty dollars” at the expense of braking dynamics?
I was pleased with the lighting in both scooters. The test drive, organized by the company, was carried out on a fairly dark testing ground, but in the headlights the track was clearly visible. So you can travel on scooters even in the dark and on an unlit road.
One conclusion follows from the above: the scooters are almost the same, it only seems that the Navigator took into account and corrected the shortcomings of the Boomerang.
Anyone who is ready to buy the most affordable new scooter for the new season can safely be advised to choose the Honling Boomerang 50 or Navigator 50. If we compare all the advantages and disadvantages of the models, the former outweigh, and after testing the device, you can safely say that you have become the owner of a good cars.

Viper Navigator in Detail Review
The Chinese-made scooter has a standard appearance for this class of equipment with an engine capacity of 49.9 cm3. All main components and parts are carefully “disguised” with special plastic. Its strength can be discussed in two directions. On the one hand, when driving carefully, the plastic on the Navigator scooter holds up normally. There are no cracks or various problems with fasteners, but there is one “but”. When driving on an unpaved road, the quality of which leaves much to be desired, the plastic quickly becomes loose and begins to crack from vibrations. In emergency situations (falls), it is easily subjected to mechanical stress.
"Navigator" is a two-seater model. Riding a scooter becomes comfortable due to the high seating position of the Viper. The brand's designers provide a roomy, comfortable seat with a thick layer of soft filling. For convenience, there is a spacious trunk under the seat. A mobile phone, wallet and any other (small) items can be placed in the glove compartment, which is located under the steering wheel. The additional equipment includes a spacious trunk, which is mounted on a special cargo area above the brake light.

Navigator control is simple and does not cause difficulties. Side mirrors help you control the location of the scooter on the road. At night, the front headlight is switched on, providing high-quality illumination of the road thanks to a modern lens system. The rear brake light is also very visible at night. In parking mode, the scooter can be left on the side or central leg.

Advantages and disadvantages of a scooter
When purchasing Honling Navigator, you need to pay attention to details such as:
- brake system;
- steering wheel location;
- seat.
The brakes have a minor drawback - immediately after purchase, when driving at high speed, they work late. This happens when you need to brake sharply before turning. In this case, it is necessary to wait a certain time for grinding to occur.
The scooter seat is very comfortable and provides the driver with maximum freedom. However, there is not enough free space for the rear passenger. At first, after purchase, vibrations sometimes occur while driving. Most often, at idle engine speed.
One of the noticeable advantages is the convenient necks through which fuel is poured into the tank. The downside is that there are some exposed areas that spoil the appearance of the moped. Unlike some other models, the Hongling Navigator 50 has one more advantage - the steering wheel, due to its special location, does not interfere with the knees.
Honling Navigator 50
Honling Navigator 50A scooter specially designed for use in Russian conditions. The model is aimed primarily at young people, but due to its versatility and implemented technical solutions, it will also attract the attention of the older generation.
Test Drive:
In our opinion, two new products from the Chinese company Honling, the Hongling Navigator 50 and Honling Boomerang 50 scooters, look like two brothers. However, it is not for nothing that our official representative, the company Honling.ru, named these two devices in their own manner, giving the first the name “Kaliningrad”, and the second “Khabarovsk”. Both of these cities are on the border, but the distance between them is huge. It’s the same with the Boomerang and Navigator scooters; they have both a lot in common and a lot of differences. Externally, these devices are really similar, and their dimensions are the same, so if you put the Navigator and Boomerang of the same color next to each other, this similarity will be most noticeable. The first difference that catches your eye is the different design of the headlight. The Navigators' "eyes" seem to be slanted, which looks more original. In short, these two scooters may not be twins, but they are definitely siblings. Another obvious difference is the different volume of the gas tank, so that by filling a full tank of gasoline, you can drive about 100 more kilometers on the Navigator than on the Boomerang. All other parameters - weight, dimensions, design of front and rear suspensions and brakes, tire size, engine - are identical. At least that’s what the manufacturers, the Honling company, assure. From the first observations - the Navigator and Boomerang are quite impressive, massive scooters. Looking at them, the thought may creep in that they are not “fifty dollars”, but no, the paper doesn’t lie. According to the documents - an honest fifty cubic meters. By the way, these are the heaviest fifty dollars from the entire model range of Hongling scooters imported to Russia. A weight of 112 kg will require real manly strength to load the device, say, into a car (of course, the car must be appropriate) or even drag it into the garage. This is worth thinking about in advance, especially for those who do not have a lot of body weight or remarkable strength. We were pleased with the headlights on both scooters. All tests of the devices were carried out on a fairly dark test site, so good light certainly wouldn’t hurt. Boomerang and Navigator had no problems with lighting. We can safely assure you that you can drive them even in the dark and in poorly lit areas. Thinking about who these “beauties” would be most suitable for, we can assume that it will be mainly young people who ride mainly in the city. The reasons are quite clear - firstly, the Navigator and Boomerang have a unique, rather aggressive appearance: bright colors, large wheels, a huge silencer by scooter standards; secondly, two people of average size can ride it completely calmly and comfortably. Small people should pay attention to other models (Honling, for example, has Priboi 50). It is not particularly suitable for traveling long distances, for example, on a trip. In terms of comfort while driving, there are no complaints about them: the Navigator and Boomerang, thanks to the shock absorber, do a good job of smoothing out the unevenness that abounds on our Russian roads. But there is another problem - the lack of space for luggage necessary for any trip. The container under the seat does not fit much, and there is no provision for a trunk. And lastly, in our subjective opinion, the Navigator seemed more convenient to us in terms of driving a scooter. Roughly speaking, an improved version of Boomerang. And its brakes are more “sensitive”. Apparently, Honling technologists took into account all the possible shortcomings of the Boomerang and tried to eliminate them by creating a new Navigator model.
