Why MV Agusta Brutale 800 is pure thrill and adrenaline, but with a lot of shortcomings

Depending on your needs and desires, there is a wide range of motorcycles designed for everyone. From enduro to sports bikes, cruisers, touring bikes and even regular classic bikes.

Just like in the world of cars, in the world of bikes, some names echo high performance and design. One of them is MV Agusta, an Italian motorcycle manufacturer known for its stunningly beautiful motorcycles and racing history.

The company produces everything from supersports to naked bikes, as well as sport-touring motorcycles. The company was founded in 1945 by Giovanni Agusta, and since then it has flourished and grown into one of the biggest names in the motorcycle world.

Today the name MV Agusta competes in the World Superbike Championship. The three-cylinder Agusta F3 675 sportsbike stands out from the F3 800, Brutale, Brutale Dragster, Stradale, Turismo Veloce and Rivale.

One of the latest additions to the MV Agusta lineup is the 2021 MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR.

Review of MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR

The MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR is a big step forward for the company compared to the Rosso trim. This bike gives you the full experience of riding an Italian motorcycle without the body kit. The Brutale 800 RR restored what was lost during the construction of the Rosso. While this bike has the same engine as its predecessor, the Brutale 800 RR has more power than the Rosso.

It is designed with aggressive angles that run throughout the exterior. The headlights of this beast are round with red highlights. Other great features of this bike include beautiful graphics on the fuel tank, split seat, pan and a beautiful gold triple exhaust. The moto comes in Shock Pearl Red, Carbon Black Metallic, Avio Gray Metallic and Avio Gray colours.

If you are an experienced biker and are looking for a quality naked bike, then the 2021 MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR is what you need. This exotic mid-displacement motorcycle has a higher and better level of class and prestige compared to other motorcycles in the same category.

All things considered, it's no surprise that the 2021 MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR has a hefty starting price of $19,400. Buying this moto means that you are not only paying for the performance and looks, but also for the class it has.

The Brutale 800 RR is equipped with electronics to help you while you ride. These include, but are not limited to, eight traction control modes, Bosch ABS, four riding modes, a large TFT instrument panel and fully adjustable suspension.

Motorcycle MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR TheArsenale Special 2021 review

Description of the motorcycle MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR TheArsenale Special 2020 is in the queue for publication of the article. Announcement: Today, for almost every new motorcycle that comes into being, marketers strive to carve out their own niche. This one is a road sport, this one is a recreational enduro. But what class should we include a motorcycle that has a little bit of everything? A good bike should have a reliable engine, comfortable ergonomics and simple controls...

MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR TheArsenale Special is a motorcycle not sold in Russia, equipped with a fairly powerful 103 hp engine. Despite the fact that good models of motorcycles have a very respectable price, and the season for their use is relatively short, the motorcycle market is developing rapidly. And if you believe the words of dealers, then some models of recently released motorcycles are selling like hot cakes at the beginning of the season, and the models brought to Russia are clearly not enough to fully satisfy consumer demand.

A motorcycle has long ceased to be an alternative to a car, and the times when this equipment was bought only because there was not enough money for a full-fledged car are forgotten. Nowadays, two-wheelers can be called technological marvels in many cases, and their cost can be compared with that of prestigious cars.

Many people have started buying motorcycles for hobby purposes as riding or even collecting them has become a good pastime for many people. Many motorcycles, for example the MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR TheArsenale Special, whose technical characteristics allow the model to be called a prestigious brand, are in demand among both beginners and experienced motorcyclists.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of 798 cc / 48.68 cu-in. see, appeared as a result of long work of inventors who sought to create a model that was not inferior in characteristics to other versions of the motorcycle. In some cases, these models are not only not inferior, but also ahead of other motorcycles, as they have minimal fuel consumption and other excellent parameters.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of more than 400 kb. cm, which includes the MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR TheArsenale Special - this category of motorcycles simply cannot claim the title of “motorcycle for a beginner.” On the contrary, this is already a serious technique that requires certain control of motorcycle equipment with a smaller engine capacity. Yes, she attracts more attention, she is the most beautiful, fast, interesting and there is a huge selection of models. But as power increases, the weight of the motorcycle inevitably increases. In this class you are unlikely to find motorcycles lighter than 180 kg, unless they are the latest motorcycle models.

CHOICE

I made an agreement with the Emirates representative of MV AGUSTA and they offered me a choice of any motorcycle model. Now you're probably surprised that I didn't choose the top-of-the-line motorcycle. But this is easy to explain: of course, I could choose the top version of a sportbike, but we know that “sports” heat up much more, and in the weather conditions of Dubai, this is a very important criterion. In addition, it is uncomfortable to sit on a sportbike even alone, but we had to travel together. So I approached the choice of a motorcycle for a test drive with a cool head and took the MV AGUSTA BRUTALE 800 RR.

Why him? Because this is the most versatile, optimal and convenient option for two. This is a real STREET, which is ideal for the city.

DESIGN

As for design, I will not reveal America to you when I say that Italians cannot be confused with the Japanese, Europeans, or Americans. Italians always have a special approach to creating the design of their motorcycles. What about design, technical and engineering solutions? And MV AGUSTA, as you suspect, is no exception. Their most beautiful monopendulum, their tubular steel frame... And, by the way, despite the fact that it is steel and not aluminum, like most modern motorcycles, the Italians found a solution here too: its weight still remained less than one hundred and seventy kilograms.

The hole under the seat caught my attention: I didn’t fully understand what it was for, but it looked very nice. And the rear passenger seat also looks very unusual, it is no longer just a piece of foam rubber covered in leather, but a very coolly designed chair. In general, the motorcycle is a real work of art.

The headlight also looks stylish: at first glance it seems that it was removed from a Mini Cooper and somewhere along the narrow Italian streets, now a one-eyed Minik is driving. There are no LEDs or xenons here, just regular halogen bulbs. Although no, the dimensions here are “LED”.

Very beautiful and informative dashboard. Even though it is not analog, but digital, even in strong sun, everything was very clearly readable.

EXHAUST

This motorcycle had a tuned exhaust, I can’t tell you the company, because even the consultants in the store didn’t know what it was. They explained that this is some new player on the market and they are just taking a closer look at it. But it sounded very cool, especially considering that there is a three-cylinder engine, which certainly sounds much more interesting and, together with the shots that are obtained thanks to this exhaust, the motorcycle sounded simply impeccable.

The only thing I didn't like was the weather conditions in which we had to test this motorcycle. In Dubai that day the heat was forty degrees. The motorcycle was operating almost in the red overheating zone. And for me, as a driver, it was also, to put it mildly, not very good.

DYNAMICS

As for the dynamics. There is eight-level traction control installed here, although I could not fully feel the difference in these levels, because our test drive did not last very long due to weather conditions. There is a quickshifter for both up and down, ABS, which can be turned off if desired. Personally, I don’t like ABS at all, I don’t like it when something interferes with the control of the motorcycle, so I always disable this function on those motorcycles where this can be done. But here it is possible, which is a huge plus for me.

Another nice feature is fuel cards. Previously, in order to set up fuel maps, the motorcycle had to be taken somewhere, and the whole thing had to be set up via a computer. But here everything is simple - they can be configured by selecting the motorcycle mode. And these settings are very different from each other. If you choose the “standard” mode, then your motorcycle becomes absolutely calm, predictable, smooth, as if on strong antidepressants. But if you choose a sport, it’s like three cans of Red Bull are poured into it and that same daring, explosive character awakens in it. There is also a fuel map called “Custom” - in this case, the motorcycle can be completely customized to suit your needs.

It was difficult to feel acceleration, braking and taxiing in the city, especially considering the number of cameras in Dubai. And it would be nice if there were fines like in Russia, here an excess of, for example, twenty kilometers per hour costs fourteen thousand rubles.

Well, in addition, we were traveling together, so there could be no talk of any normal “taxiing” or putting things under the knee. But for the few kilometers that I managed to ride alone, I was quite satisfied with its “taxiing”. The bike feels very light and corners just fine. In general, I have no complaints about the controls. Unfortunately, we were not able to reach the maximum speed due to the reasons that I outlined above, but if you believe the “papers”, its maximum speed is two hundred and fifty kilometers per hour. Given that there is absolutely no wind protection on it, I doubt many will want to push it to its top speed. Still, the element of this particular motorcycle is the city.

By the way, the tank here is sixteen liters. This is quite a pleasant volume, considering that the motorcycle’s consumption is approximately seven liters per hundred kilometers per hour.

COMPETITOR

This MV AGUSTA BRUTALE 800 RR is a direct competitor to the YAMAHA MT 09, which is considered very rowdy, with an explosive character. But it seemed to me that this Italian drove much more interestingly, steered much more interestingly, and I began to ask the question: “Why buy MT 09 if there is a BRUTALE that beats it on all counts?” Moreover, it bypasses not only on paper, but also by feeling, which is more important.

But then I opened the price list and the questions disappeared by themselves. YAMAHA MT 09 will cost you up to one million rubles, and MV AGUSTA BRUTALE 800 RR costs approximately one million three hundred thousand rubles. A noticeable difference, isn't it? In general, this is the main reason, because YAMAHA is in greater demand than MV AGUSTA.

But if you're wondering why people still pay more for an Italian motorcycle, it seems to me that it is much more interesting, much more beautiful, and also has a lot more different electronics. And the same well-known “explosive character” of the MT 09 can be easily tuned to the BRUTALE 800, but at the same time it gives you the opportunity to reconfigure the motorcycle for quiet, city riding. I'll tell you more later.

Although there is another reason: many are afraid of Italian motorcycles because of the existing myth that they break. But it seems to me that here, as in the world of cars, there is no clear opinion. You know, there is a legend that Range Rover breaks down, but in my life I have met many owners of these cars who confirm this, but there were no less than those who refuted it and shouted with foam at the mouth: “My Range Rover has never broke!” Therefore, it is difficult to judge this, at least until the moment when two or even three Italian motorcycles have been in your garage for long-term use.
