Model range of Harley-Davidson motorcycles
Harley-Davidson has long become more than just a well-known brand of bikes. This is a whole philosophy, a way of life for millions of people united in entire groups (HarleyOwnersGroup). The brand traditionally owes its name to its creators, William S. Harley and his friend Arthur Davidson. The first prototype of the popular motorcycle was an ordinary bicycle equipped with a low-power engine. Since 1904, production has increased in arithmetic progression. Just 4 years later, the debutant took part in the race for the first time and, naturally, won. The victory served as an impetus for the creation of a fundamentally new V-shaped two-cylinder engine.
Thanks to military orders, Harley-Davidson Motor Company became the sales leader in its segment after World War I. From an engineering point of view, motorcycles have become more and more advanced. And a new feature has appeared in the design - the image of an eagle on the gas tank. During the crisis of the 30s of the twentieth century, the company suffered significant losses, but remained afloat. After World War II, development peaked. This is largely due to the departure of its principal competitor from the market - .
Until our times, Harley-Davidson improves its motorcycles, wins races, and creates branded equipment. In Russia, the official representative office opened only in 2005, but this does not interfere with the wild popularity of the brand. Bikes are produced in different directions depending on their purpose: Street, Sportster, Dyna Glide, Softail, V-Rod, Touring, Trike. The most popular among domestic fans are choppers, trikes and road motorcycles.
The Harley-Davidson Street 750 is perfect for riding on city streets. In Russia it is available only with a 750 cm3 engine with a liquid cooling system. Very maneuverable thanks to the narrow chassis. There are no chrome parts in the design. The designers gave preference to dark tones.
The lineup of cruisers or choppers, which is more common, is more diverse than ever. They are distinguished by an elongated frame and front fork. The CVO label features a hand-built motorcycle with custom graphics and accessories. A characteristic feature of such cars is an engine with a displacement of 1800 cm3.
Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra is a three-wheeled trike with a powerful 1690 cm3 engine, specially designed for long journeys. A large tank, spacious trunk and comfortable seating make the journey comfortable.
Harley-Davidson is respected by everyone, even those who don't like it.

The life and death of Harley Dyna.
Harley-Davidson quietly killed the popular Dyna line in 2021 without any official warning, simply transferring all Dyna titles to the Softail platform. But the powerful Dyna with Big Twins on rubber mounts, two classic rear shock absorbers, has a huge army of young and not so fans, so we will remember the popular model in this motorcycle history. Dyna, occupying the place of the “middle son” in the Harley line, has never been in the rays of glory throughout the entire 27-year history of the release. Dynas were on the bottom rung of Harley-Davidsons with Big Twins, so all the attention (both from the company and from its fans) went to Harley’s top models: Tourings or their less expensive brothers, imitating the “cracker” Softails.
Larger than the compact Sportster and entry-level Street, but smaller and leaner than the more complex Softail or ultra-luxury Touring, the Dynas fell squarely in the middle, never really being the “best” of what Harley had to offer. But Dyna's position in the middle of the line actually made her something special for both the Motor Company and the riders; Dyna could be anything you wanted her to be. Dynas, featuring a rubber-mounted frame with engines without balancer shafts, and two external rear shock absorbers, became known as rider Harleys because the Dyna was a well-handling Big Twin Harley, unlike the squishy Softails and big, heavy luxury Tourings.
The quintessence of the motorcycle is Dyna Street Bob, stripped, bobber, with a rubber-mounted Big Twin, two coil rear shock absorbers, and footpegs. Dyna was the perfect bike with a powerful Big Twin and truly limitless customization options.
The rubber-mounted motor gives us a true Harley feel, while the smaller frame and lighter weight allow us to tear through windy roads. Daina, perhaps a reasonable compromise between appearance and technical characteristics compared to top-end Tourings, with Bigwin, lightweight, less expensive, with a smaller set of unnecessary features, was positioned as ideal for making changes, adding accessories and driving fast. And so it was. The essentially customizable platform has seen many variations over the years. And it became many things for different people, everything from the chopper Wide Glide, to the stripped-down Street Bob, to the Switchback, a unique dual-purpose tourer cruiser. Most of the Daina variations from the factory simply came with replaced fronts on the Daina frame [not entirely true, because the Wide Glide has a different angle of the steering column] The Wide Glide had a long Softail fork, and the Switchback had a meaty Touring fork. Depending on what kind of appearance they wanted to get on Daina, various front forks were installed, standard and inverted, thick or long.
The Dyna Wide Glide, with a long, wide-set front fork and large front wheel, was introduced in the second year of Dyna's production, and became one of Dyna's most popular models. The model in the picture is from 2014. And even before the aftermarket got its hands on the versatile Daina, who was taken in yet another completely new direction. Daina was affordable, easy to work with, highly customizable and also had the highest potential of the entire Harley line. This made it not only a favorite among Harley riders who wanted to make their bikes faster, but it has recently become the choice of some stunt teams. Stunters performed absolutely impossible stunts on motorcycles, playing with top-of-the-line suspensions and brakes to control the heavy bike as best as Dyna's strong frame could handle.
In recent years, motorcycle stunts have become a very popular sport. Despite the fact that Harleys do not have precise handling, stunt teams have performed incredible stunts on them - mostly on modified Dynas, whose powerful engines, short front forks and low front fork angles make the impossible possible.
While Dayna has had a very limited fan base throughout her nearly 30-year history, the TV series Children of Anarchy, in which she played a key role, has skyrocketed her popularity in recent years. Black Dynas were the choice of most club members in the series and main character Jax Teller rode a 2003 Dyna Super Glide.
English actor Charlie Hunnam as Jax Teller in the Children of Anarchy series on the 2003 Dyna Super Glide, along with other gang members who also rode Dynas. This helped Daina's popularity skyrocket among young users. The series not only brought popularity to Dyna (and all other Harleys in general), but also introduced the world to a new, unique, menacing look for West Coast club motorcycles. Known as the "club style" (or "owtlaw" style), the look focused largely around custom Dynas that were painted black, with high rear suspension, stick steering and headlight fairings. Thanks to the popularity of the series, club style began to spread throughout the world.
The Harley customization movement sparked Dyne's popularity, especially among young people. In many places (mainly in California) you can meet a Harley rider in his 20s, 30s, it's almost guaranteed to be Dayna. Harley-Davidson had trouble attracting younger users.
The new softail frame is said to be lighter, stiffer, and significantly better handling. But by killing Dayna, the only popular model among young riders, the Motor Company most likely hurt itself in the highly competitive motorcycle industry for the commitment of young riders. It is not yet known whether Softail will be a worthy replacement, perhaps on paper the Softail frame is better, but are Daina’s followers ready to exchange a rubber-mounted engine, two rear shock absorbers and easy customization for Softail. Despite this, Dyna retains its popularity, bolstered by a vibrant customization scene, a bountiful aftermarket, and a rugged, stripped-down simplicity that is, ironically, a form of rebellion against the traditional chrome-plated Harley aesthetic. After 26 years of production, Dyna has come to an end, but the "real rider's Harley" will most likely continue to be supported for many years to come.
Brief history of Daina
1991: The first Dyna was presented as a special edition model called the FXDB Sturgis to commemorate the popular annual rally in South Dakota. What made Dyna's new frame special was that it was significantly stiffer than its predecessor, making it well suited to the new Evolution engine that was being introduced at the same time. Dyna Daytona and Super Glide were introduced a year later.

1993 : The Low Rider and Wide Glide models are introduced, the most popular models throughout its 26-year history. 1995 : Previously, all Dynas had a 32-degree front fork rake, but in 1995 a 28-degree fork was introduced on sportier models. 1999 : The Evolution engine is replaced with an 88 cubic inch Twin Cam engine. 2006 : The Twin Cam engine gets a 96 cubic inch displacement and a 6 speed transmission.
