Review by Yamaha Chinese copy Cartridge Strike (2012)

Not all inexpensive Chinese motorcycles are boring and monotonous, as the Patron Taker 250 city bike was able to prove. The designers managed to implement in it some interesting technical solutions that are rarely found on budget motorcycles, wrap it all in a fairly attractive appearance and at the same time keep the cost at an affordable level , in order to compete not only with other “Chinese” cars, but also with used “Japanese” ones. As a first bike for beginners, or just a bike for daily riding, the Patron Tucker 250 is really great. And now we will tell you why.

Patron STrike 250 reviews

The Patron STrike 250 motorcycle, reviews of which are quite varied, is made in the “enduro” style.
According to the manufacturer, this model combines the spectacular design of an ultra-modern SUV with ease of operation and maintenance. Its advantages also include comfort and efficiency. The Patron STrike motorcycle is equipped with a four-stroke single-cylinder engine with a displacement of 250 cm3. The engine has an air-oil cooling system and an electronic starting system. This device can be used both on asphalt roads, and on dirt and country roads, as well as on light off-road conditions.

When developing the Patron STrike motorcycle, the designers used a number of modern solutions. Front and rear disc brakes provide comfortable and effective braking. The rear suspension has a monoshock and linkage system that provides progressive characteristics.

The large tread pattern of the Patron STrike 250 motorcycle tires ensures strong wheel grip when traveling off-road. The stylish appearance of the model is given by the electronic instrument panel and advanced plastic cladding. Along with the Patron STrike 250 motorcycle, you can purchase a set of road wheels that will change the style of the model to a “motard”.

Patron STrike 250, user reviews of which are in most cases positive, is worth the money and works 100%. But before you start actively using the motorcycle, you should tighten all the bolts and nuts.

According to reviews from owners of the Patron STrike 250, it is possible that after covering 3000 km on the motorcycle, the chain and, in some cases, the sprockets will have to be replaced. The footrests and gear shift paw are not very comfortable in shape.

But the gearbox itself works great in this model. The recommended retail price of the Patron STrike 250 motorcycle is 75,000 rubles.

I don’t know about you, but I broke the chain on the 3rd day, put a chain on the ant and put a trap on the chain, now I even forgot that I have to suffer with the chain. I just can’t understand something, he’s not running, can you give me some advice?

Not all inexpensive Chinese motorcycles are boring and monotonous, as the Patron Taker 250 city bike was able to prove. The designers managed to implement in it some interesting technical solutions that are rarely found on budget motorcycles, wrap it all in a fairly attractive appearance and at the same time keep the cost at an affordable level , in order to compete not only with other “Chinese” cars, but also with used “Japanese” ones. As a first bike for beginners, or just a bike for daily riding, the Patron Tucker 250 is really great. And now we will tell you why.

Technical characteristics of Patron Taker 250

Of course, there are no innovations in this motorcycle, but compared to other handicrafts of Chinese designers, it looks more than worthy. Apparently, craftsmen from the People's Republic of China meticulously studied the popular Japanese small-capacity models, diligently copied successful solutions, made some changes to reduce the cost and offered the Patron Tucker 250 to the public. The experiment can be considered successful - both the technical characteristics of the Patron Taker 250 and its appearance are excellent are in harmony with each other. This is a typical urban street bike, light, maneuverable and surprisingly peppy . Of course, the Chinese didn’t shell out money for a light-alloy frame, but an ordinary steel frame will suffice for us, right? Moreover, it houses a good 1-cylinder 4-valve liquid-cooled engine capable of producing 25 hp. and 22 Nm of torque . It is mated to a completely modern 6-speed gearbox , which, it should be noted, works without the slightest complaints. At the same time, the dry weight of the Patron Taker 250 does not even reach 150 kg , and its center of gravity is low, so subjectively the motorcycle seems very light. The maximum speed of the Patron Tucker 250 is 140 km/h , and it is really capable of developing it.
The pendants are also worthy of attention. An inverted telescopic fork is installed at the front, and a pendulum with two energy-intensive shock absorbers at the rear. It seems that the Chinese designers managed to find a balance between comfort and controllability, and it’s impossible to find fault with the Patron Taker 250 suspensions even if you wanted to. The brakes are also good - discs with calipers are installed both front and rear. The only pity is that the injector was not delivered; instead, it was decided to install a conventional carburetor. However, even without an injector, the Patron Tucker 250 can be called a motorcycle that is fully in line with the modern technological level, especially in the budget segment.

Technical characteristics of Patron Sport 250

What can you expect from a budget Chinese 250cc sportbike? Approximately what the Patron Sport 250 is capable of offering. A steel frame of a classic design, a 250 cc single-cylinder air-oil-cooled engine, a 5-speed gearbox , a carburetor - all according to a recipe proven over decades. Simple, archaic, but quite reliable. In the reviews of Patron Sport 250 owners there is enough discussion of various minor breakdowns, but, as practice shows, all the main components of this motorcycle do not cause problems. And this is already a plus, considering that cheap Chinese motorcycles often suffer from low quality in all respects without exception.

The recipe is simple: take a regular steel frame, replace the handlebars with clip-ons, move back the driver's footpegs and lower controls, stretch plastic over it all and get a standard Chinese sportbike like the Patron Sport 250. Single-cylinder 2-valve air-oil-cooled engine ( 15.6 hp and 18 Nm, respectively), the design of which probably dates back to the times of Mao Zedong, a carburetor, a chain drive of the rear wheel, a conventional 5-speed transmission - and the Patron Sport 250 motorcycle is ready. By the way, dealers sometimes claim a maximum speed of 130-140 km/h, which is not true. But the sportbike reaches its honest 110 km/h , especially if it is not prevented from doing so by a strong headwind. But de facto, the Patron Sport 250 motorcycle is similar to sportsbikes only in its fit and appearance. Let's just note that everything that should work actually works. There are no complaints about the engine and gearbox, and the bike can be relied upon.

As for the seating position, it will most likely be comfortable for riders of no more than average height. But the passenger simply must be a miniature girl, otherwise it will be very difficult for him to fit on the small and hard pillow on the tail, which the creators of the Patron Sport 250 pass off as a passenger seat. Well, it’s worth considering that fairly good brakes by the standards of the class, if there is a second number, they immediately lose their effectiveness, and the braking distance increases by at least one and a half times, or even two.

Pros and cons of Patron Taker 250

Advantages

  • General manufacturability . This is truly a completely modern and reliable bike.
  • Decent dynamics . The “Chinese” accelerates to 110-120 km/h and is very confident.
  • Gripping brakes . The only thing they lack is ABS.
  • Attractive appearance . Chinese designers abandoned the pretentious appearance and created an ordinary-looking classic motorcycle that really looks very good.
  • Impressive 16 liter gas tank . Considering that the fuel consumption of the Patron Taker 250 usually does not exceed 4 liters per hundred kilometers, this is more than enough for all occasions.

Flaws

  • Build errors . On new motorcycles, there are often bolts that are not fully tightened, sometimes even in the most vital places such as wheels or the crankcase.
  • Bad turn signals . They are located in such a way that they are very easy to catch just by walking up to the bike, and they are made of fragile plastic.
  • Reviews of the Patron Taker 250 often mention incorrect operation of the standard carburetor . Fortunately, it can be easily and inexpensively replaced with another one.

Pros and cons of Patron Sport 250

Advantages

  • Good wind protection . At any speed that the Patron Sport 250 can reach, it copes with its task at 5.
  • Reliable main components - engine, transmission, carburetor. Everything is very archaic in design, but everything works smoothly, this cannot be taken away.
  • Comfortable riding position , typical of sportbikes. After riding a Patron Sport 250 motorcycle for a season or two, it will be easier to get used to a “full-fledged” sportbike.
  • Low cost of spare parts and consumables . In addition, everything you need is usually available at dealers.
  • Affordable price . The new Sport 250 cartridge costs about 100 thousand rubles at the time of publication of this article, and besides, dealers give a guarantee on it, which is also significant.
  • Fuel consumption is 2.5-3.5 liters per hundred kilometers, and the motorcycle is not at all picky about the quality of gasoline. The gas tank is very spacious - as much as 16 liters.
  • Not bad brakes , especially considering the modest weight of the Chinese sportbike. Both front and rear have discs with 2-piston calipers.

Flaws

  • The outdated appearance of the motorcycle as a whole is inexpressive and immediately reveals the handicrafts of Chinese craftsmen. The bolts sticking out of the plastic that secure this very plastic make designers cry tears of blood.
  • Mediocre acceleration dynamics . The torque of the Patron Sport 250 is not bad, but the bike becomes quite sluggish after 80-90 km/h.
  • Hard and relatively brittle plastic . He most likely won't survive a fall on his side. But testing this in practice is still not recommended.
  • The seat is not very comfortable , hard and quite slippery. There’s no need to talk about the passenger’s blotch on the tail.

Review by Yamaha Chinese copy Cartridge Strike (2012)

The moto topic on the site has completely withered...

But I’ve been riding “real” (I’ll explain why in quotes below) enduro for a year now! Exactly a year, even in winter I went several times.

February '17. The pit bike is ready for the season. But man is such a damn brute that he is always missing something. What was wrong with Pete? Firstly, sports equipment. Naturally, you are not allowed to travel to additional places “by law.” Secondly, you can’t go somewhere far and for a long time on it. And I was planning a couple of long-distance trips. Well, thirdly, I wanted to have less maintenance and repairs. And you can’t plant a second one - at least you can get to the neighboring forest. In fact, this is a toy for riding alone in the nearest forest.

We choose... We immediately forget about the Japanese - the cheapest yubr, which you can look at without tears, is far beyond the budget. And enduro is like a premium car. Initially, I tried to find money over thirty thousand, Chinese, of course, with minor problems, but I soon realized the utopian nature of the idea. I set the task - a moderately off-road moto, low in the saddle. not less than 200 cubic meters. Easy. Immediately about and their clones - the saddle height is 90. We choose.. We choose.. and, in fact, the choice is where. The crisis of '13 didn't even bring us to our knees; it drove the motorcycle market deep into the ground. Of the new ones, a 14-year-old intruder in his sixties is gathering dust forlornly. Discounts? What are you about?? The mot looks huge, overloaded with details, and generally not my thing. Are you interested in a certain model? We will deliver to order. With prepayment, of course. What if you don't like it? I don't know what your problem is. And - prices, prices... We look at used ones. Second strike. Nothing to see. They sell rubbish, half without proper registration. If the road worker is registered with the previous/previous/grandmother/neighbor's bug. Enduro is either sports equipment or simply not registered. I looked at the tribute cartridge. This is a Chinese type of Minsk. Mot beams. Basically.. if you change tires, you can actually drive to some asshole in the world and get stuck there. But the engine is 150cc without a balancer! That means Route 70. Not serious. Next is the snow leopard vr1. Engine - 200 with balancer. Works great, no vibrations! But a road worker. Here the racer is making a new model based on its overpit-underenduro. In principle, the difference is mainly in the engine. I know the old model, and my impressions are contradictory. On the one hand, this is exactly what I want! The disadvantages are mainly related to the weak engine (and the new model 200 has a balancer!!), and low load capacity. But - my weight is a lamb, plus I don’t carry too much - it’s enough for me. Rare tires, short service life of the components... nonsense, Pete taught me to work with my hands after every ride. Rubber... really, after pita I wanted “full size”. True, the price is double the budget... but you can raise the amount. I ordered from two stores, they promised to deliver and call. I'm still waiting. :-D.

At the same time, I'm looking at used ones. I set my sights on looking at a few more options. Unexpectedly, an announcement - strike cartridge, 12 years old, thousand miles. What kind of strike? Copy of Yamaha-Serov, low in the saddle, light. There are a lot of negatives - the frames are cracking, the tanks are leaking, there are no spare parts... I’m calling - one owner is not young, he is registered, the diagnostics are valid. condition - drove a little on asphalt. Everything is original. I agreed to watch it. Night (again night, again at work, again without sleep :-D,), I think, I’m surfing the Internet... Are the frames cracking? There is one hero of the Internet - under him, the spendthrift literally fell apart. But, if you think about it... This “uncle” weighs a hundred kilos. Plus equipment Plus cargo, backpack, things... My usual weight will be three times lower! Okay, whatever - I’ll go and at least look at this craft for the legendary Serov. I go straight to the heel, into the booth with a board and zip ties.

The sight of this small, neat, and somehow beautiful motorcycle struck me on the spot. The suspensions work (hello, the snow leopard has a stick instead of a suspension), the engine runs very quietly. The vibrations, of course, are a bit high - the engine is 250 without a balancer. The motor really turned out to be perfect, it didn’t move off the asphalt, diagnostics were due until August. The owner is a pathologist (almost a colleague, damn it, and even a namesake by name/patronymic!), an older man, I liked it - after all, choose not the equipment, but the owner! One problem - the battery died, and only the owner started the engine from the “leg”. Nonsense - we’ll buy a battery and tune the engine! Let's buy!

From a dialogue in a motorcycle showroom

Ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen, workers and collective farmers, an idiot's dream has come true! I finally bought myself a motorcycle. I lazily dreamed about this purchase for about 3-4 years. Every time another biker on some Honda flew past me to a deafening roar, I trembled, my knees gave way and I, like an inexperienced chick, started to leak. Chick, leak, hmm, chick.

I have always been and continue to be bothered by 2 questions.

The first concerned those hiking-type people who roam the streets with backpacks, tanned faces and toned bodies. Where are they coming from? For what? How much have they seen in their lifetime? Well and so on. Such characters are not often encountered, so I have a genuine interest in them. For me they are the personification of wild freedom and strength. I don’t know why, maybe it’s some kind of childhood trauma or a childhood dream.

The second question concerned bikers wearing integral helmets (these are closed helmets through which only a person’s gaze can be distinguished). These are some semblance of people with glasses. But here only the glance is visible. Serious, focused, purposeful. It is with such eyes that people on sports bikes fly around the city, cutting through city traffic. For some reason, such people are also very attractive to me. Who are they? Why are they? Where did these bastards get the money for their beautiful jalopies? I’ll send these questions to Alexander Druz, you can’t constantly be tormented by them.

People in helmets and people with backpacks. Apparently, my secret fetish is a biker on a motorcycle, with a backpack, on the top of Elbrus.

The attraction of such people makes you strive for them on a subconscious level. I still have to grow and grow to become a lonely but free tourist (if there is any possibility of transformation at all), but I have become one step closer to bikers.

And let my gaze sometimes be scattered and not purposeful. Even if the only equipment I have is a helmet, which I have already managed to scratch. And even my motorcycle is not a Kawasaki Ninja or a Honda CBR, but some kind of semi-Russian Patron Sport 250

. But the sensations you get when you face the wind with your visor open are unforgettable. Driving a car does not dilute your blood with the spirit of freedom, it does not force you to convulsively inhale huge streams of air. This is different. I'm just getting into it, but I'm already starting to like it.

Let's move on directly to the motorcycle, since the title obliges us to write at least a couple of words as a review.

When I was lazily looking for a bike on Slando, Avito and Auto.ru, I accidentally came across a motorcycle dealership that sells motorcycles assembled from Chinese spare parts on ours from Izhevsk. The picture turned out to be very beautiful, the Patron Sport looks very aggressive, just like a real sports bike. If I'm not mistaken, this is an analogue of the Honda CBR 150 or 250. They are assembled from our own, assembled from spare parts under our brand.

This pleasure costs 105k. For a sport bike the price is ugh. At the same time, for that kind of money you can only buy a completely killed Japanese and tinker with it in the garage after work. Therefore, the choice was made towards a Chinese scooter.

I came to the salon, completed the purchase, showed how to start it and adjust the idle speed. I sat down and drove off.

Compared to Minsk, where I studied at the driving school, Patron is not bad at all. Heavy, beautiful, even goes.

In general: sporty look, price. That's all the positives for now (:

Next came the cons.

From the very beginning, the clutch worked poorly, it was almost impossible to catch neutral when you were standing somewhere at a traffic light. I had to hold the clutch handle. As a result, we tightened the clutch cable - everything was ok. Minus the problem.

Idling. Since I don’t know much about motorcycles yet, I couldn’t manage to adjust the idle speed properly. Without the throttle, the bike constantly stalled. This crap was fixed for me in the salon in 5 minutes. Minus problem number two.

Battery. It happened that once the motorcycle refused to start due to a dead battery. I had to carry it to charge it. At the same time, the instruments show that the generator is charging, everything is ok. The problem was never solved, but it seemed to disappear temporarily.

Speed. In fifth gear at 4500 rpm, the motorcycle begins to behave like the rocket on which Belka and Strelka conquered space. It’s scary to open the throttle any further, because it seems that I’m about to reach escape velocity. To be fair, it must be said that the motorcycle must be run-in at 1600 km and after that you will need to look at how it accelerates and rides. I have driven 400 km so far, so I can leave the acceleration and speed limit for later. Maybe he'll take a shit and run 100 km/hour like Grandma's Buryonka running away from a drunken shepherd.

For a beginner, this technique is quite appropriate. There is only one thing. You will have to come to terms with the fact that minibus drivers, Kaenov and other bikers you meet on the road will look at you condescendingly. Kaen gives this motorcycle one left hand, but I’m generally silent about Japanese motorcycles (:

I won’t say anything about the danger of the device and the fact that a lot of people end up playing on bikes in hospitals. Every second person who finds out that I bought myself a motorcycle tells me about this >_

5 liters, maybe a hundred less.. I ride on one tank for a very long time) The license is standard - category A. It cost me 6k, because I studied at the same driving school where I received B. And so, on average they cost 8-9k in the city.. The training is a month.

Yeah. 130. According to the lying Chinese speedometer. My speedometer goes 110-115 on a flat road, 25-30 grams 100 on a hill. A friend of mine has a Chinese Magnum 200cc, according to his speedometer it goes 130 and at this moment I overtake him by 110-115 km. In total, it lies for 20-25 km.

Reviews from Patron Taker 250 owners

The bike is great, not without its flaws, but still great. I bought it new, chose between the new Patron and the 1995 Honda SB400, in the end I chose the Chinese and did not regret it. Over the past seasons, I have driven more than 30k kilometers, changed the carb, chain, sprockets, tires, and clutch. With the exception of the carb, there were no breakdowns, not counting the turn signals that were broken during the fall and a damaged muffler. Until I have the money for some fresh 600, I won’t change the Patron; there is no point in replacing it with some 400 from the shaggy years. Ilya, St. Petersburg, Patron Taker 250 '2015.

The standard tires go straight into the trash, antifreeze and oil filled in at the factory go in the same place. After purchase, you need to tighten the bolts yourself with torque wrenches, it’s also better to check the wiring, the contacts are not insulated at all. Otherwise, it’s a very good motorcycle for its price, with peppy dynamics and good brakes. Alexey, Chelyabinsk, Patron Taker 250 '2018.

Not everyone has money for new Japanese people, I, for example, don’t have any and don’t expect to, and in my opinion, it’s more expensive for yourself to get involved with ancient rubbish and play the motorcycle-cromancer. That’s why I ended up buying a Patron, it’s an excellent buzzer, in the city it’s easy to stay faster than the flow and control the situation, most Chinese cars can beat most cars. The brakes are normal, no surprises, the suspension is generally fire, you ride very softly, as if you were floating. It's already been used for three seasons, no problems, I bought it as a year old with almost zero mileage. Boris, Volzhsky, Patron Taker 250 '2013.

Advantages and disadvantages of Patron Taker 250

I decided to succumb to modern trends and start a logbook. And all because last summer I bought my first motorcycle. I went to this decision for a long time, thinking about all sorts of little things, weighing all the pros and cons, all the advice and persuasion of relatives not to engage in this motorcycle “pampering”. But since I had been dreaming of a two-wheeled companion for a long time, I finally decided to fulfill my cherished dream. After thinking about it, I also realized that I shouldn’t buy an expensive bike right away. I first wanted to feel like a motorcyclist, try on this role and understand whether I wanted to continue my journey in this direction.

In general, in connection with the above, I opted for the Russian-Chinese motorcycle Patron Taker 250. I came across my future motorcycle on the Bike.net website, where in the “Sale” section there is a large selection of motorcycles of various brands and models that can be purchase without intermediaries and overpayments. Despite all my concerns about its “Chineseness,” I really liked the bike. It seems like everything in it is in its place - it’s comfortable in the saddle, and the power is quite enough for me so far. The visual component personally suits me quite well and does not cause any complaints or any complaints. I don’t dare talk about the maximum speed, since I’m still scared to accelerate more than 100-110 km/h. The motorcycle handles long distances well. The maximum I traveled in a day was more than 300 km, and neither I nor the motorcycle got tired.

It also warms my soul that this make and model is quite common in our latitudes, so there should be no problems with purchasing spare parts. Well, at least at first I didn’t have any problems with spare parts. Minor breakdowns, of course, were not long in coming; already within the first hundred kilometers the speedometer cable broke. This happened most likely due to the “crooked” installation of the front wheel. I replaced the cable, everything works.

Later, questions arose regarding how the frame was welded. The welding seams are done rather poorly, but I hope that they will hold and will not crack on some big bump. I described in some detail all the other shortcomings in the design of the motorcycle in my logbook on the Bike.net website (https://bike.net/event:5388960-theme:parts), where I am going to talk in detail about the operation of my motorcycle.

To summarize, I want to say that the past season assured me that my choice was correct. For the little money I paid for my bike, it's hard to imagine a better motorcycle. The bike is fuel efficient, unpretentious and inexpensive to maintain. It suits me almost perfectly. Let's see how he performs after wintering. I can't wait for the new season already!

The Tucker 250 can be confidently called an example of a good Chinese motorcycle that is balanced in all respects. At a moderate—what is it, even low—price, it is really good. And one of its main advantages is that it does not try, unlike many of its counterparts from the PRC, to pretend to be something it is not, for example, a sportbike or a chopper. The Patron Taker 250 is positioned as an inexpensive, yet reliable and modern lightweight city motorcycle with a classic design, and that is exactly what it is.

Patron Strike 250

This model belongs to the enduro category. This motorcycle replaced the previous version, also made in China, which had 200 cc. The difference from the previous model is both external and in characteristics.

The design of the “horse” was completely redesigned, a completely new air-cooled engine was installed. It is also worth saying that the lighting system has been improved. Now, even at night, on good roads you can travel at a speed of 100 km/h, thanks to excellent lighting.
