Currently, there are many different types of motorcycles on the market, ranging from standard scooters and motorcycles to ATVs and snowmobiles. There are now a lot of manufacturers of such machines, but Chinese companies are now gaining more and more popularity. This is explained by the fact that Chinese equipment is quite inexpensive with excellent reliability and quality.
Among the Chinese manufacturers providing ATVs to the market, Irbis can currently be called one of the leading ones. This manufacturer has five different cubic capacity models in its lineup, however, more powerful ones are expected to be developed in the future.
A representative of this line is the Irbis ATV 200U ATV, which also belongs to the utilitarian class of small ATVs.
This ATV is in the budget price segment, which is why the model is an excellent option for getting fully acquainted with this type of motorcycle. But this does not mean that the machine’s capabilities are very different from more expensive large models; the Irbis ATV 200 can be used for a variety of purposes, from ordinary recreation to performing some household work.
Brand Spread
These units are modern and technologically advanced vehicles from China, which are based on advanced technologies from Japan. More than 50 percent of manufactured Irbis ATVs are exported to European countries and the USA. In the Russian Federation, approximately 15 thousand branded vehicles are purchased every year, which gives joy and drive to their drivers.
Yacota 250 ATV – rogue or SUV?
The world of compact ATVs can be tricky to navigate. On the one hand, all Asian quads (and there are practically no others in the 200-250 cc class) look the same, on the other hand, when you look closely, it turns out that the differences are quite significant. One way or another, the main buyers of such ATVs are summer residents, parents and retirees. Many will say that for this money you can buy a Niva or UAZ, covering all your economic needs. This is partly true, except that any car for this money will require constant investment and effort, and the ATV will be new and with a guarantee.
The same applies to cross-country ability - even the smallest rear-wheel drive vehicle will fit where an all-wheel drive vehicle will fit without special training. Of course, if you have certain skills. In other words, the advantages of a car over an ATV are not so obvious, and objectively they include only comfort due to the presence of a roof and a stove, as well as load capacity - you cannot attach a 700-kilogram trailer to a small ATV. Otherwise, the advantages are either on the side of the ATV or depend on specific situations.
Today we will talk about the Yacota 250, which is not the most ordinary device, but in order to understand why it is non-standard, you need to decide on the standard criterion. Typically, all ATVs in this class are built around a steel tubular frame and a small, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with a CVT.
The suspensions almost always look the same - in front there is a pair of transverse A-arms without a stabilizer, in the rear there is actually a motorcycle swingarm with a continuous axle, in fact it is a rear axle with a permanently locked differential. The drive is only rear-wheel drive and almost always with a chain (with rare exceptions like Loncin 250 and Puma 250, where the main drive is cardan). Plastic, lighting technology, the presence of additional accessories and the size of the wheels can change the appearance beyond recognition, but inside all such devices you will almost always find the same thing. In other words, people most often choose based on price and the reputation of a particular manufacturer.
The Yacota 250 ATV is unusual. On the outside, everything is like everyone else’s, except that the dimensions are large and the size of the device is more like a 400 cc device. On the one hand, this is a plus - two adults feel good on it at once, and you can attach more cargo to the luggage platforms than usual. On the other hand, a large ATV takes up more space and is more difficult to transport, although it still fits into the back of a medium-sized pickup truck, albeit with an open side. Moreover, thanks to its low weight, it is quite capable of being thrown into the back of two adult men without any ladders, boards or similar devices.
It’s more comfortable with such dimensions and on the move, the wide fenders perfectly protect against dirt flying from the wheels. In cars, the width of the arches is more a tribute to aesthetics; for many ATVs, atrophied fenders become a real problem; getting wet in the first puddle is a dubious pleasure.
But the front suspension raises questions. As we have already found out, the vast majority of ATVs have double A-arms, an example of simplicity and reliability. So, on the Yacota 250, instead of them, there is only one lever per side, working in tandem with a MacPherson strut. A familiar solution for a passenger car or crossover, which in the world of ATVs is used by only a few manufacturers, in addition to Yacota. A couple of Chinese and one large company - the American concern Polaris. True, such a suspension can only be found on utilitarian models, while sports models, even from this American brand, have the usual double wishbones.
Probably, it is easier and cheaper to maintain and repair such a design, but at high speed and on bad roads the device lacks stability, and you constantly have to catch it. Here the preload of the springs is adjusted, so in theory the suspension can be made a little stiffer, and the pressure in the wheels can be increased, sacrificing comfort to make the device more stable, but with traditional designs this question does not arise. In theory, the move should be less, but in practice there is no shortage, so there are no difficulties with maneuverability and landings after small jumps.
But the semi-automatic transmission raises questions among many. The variator allows you not to think about it - you moved the gearbox poker to the “Drive” position, pressed the gas trigger and drove off, released it and stopped. It couldn't be more convenient. Meanwhile, the mechanics of the Yacota 250 require not only switching to “Drive”, but also constant operation of the gearbox pedal. It doesn’t have a clutch lever either, so to make shifts you just need to release the gas, but constantly working with your left foot to control the gearbox pedal is tiring.
Many people don't like it, almost everyone. However, this scheme has several advantages. The first gear is incredibly short. In fact, you can start with the second one even loaded, so where the variator’s belt begins to slip due to overload, on a manual one you just need to plug in the first one. Any climbs, a heavy trailer, anything, a stunted engine with such a reduction pulls out anything. In addition, and this is well known to all ATV riders, even with a snorkel, you can pour water into the variator through its ventilation.
Even if the motor is still running under water, the ATV first stops moving and then slips with the belt for a long time. You have to either remove the cover and drain the water, or hope, at the risk of overheating the belt due to slipping, that the hot mechanism will dry out on its own, since the air in it is constantly circulating. The mechanics have no such problems, not even close, they are not at all afraid of water. The maximum is that a certain amount of liquid will get into the oil, which, upon returning home, will have to be changed, but for this you need to thoroughly bathe the device.
In addition to the short “first”, the mechanics also have a long “fourth”, and if the diameter of the CVT pulleys does not allow the engine to realize its full potential, then the Yacota 250 is head and shoulders above its CVT counterparts. And that's impressive too. One problem is that the manual transmission is more complicated and, despite its longer service life, it will be more expensive to repair; the variator is simpler - two pulleys, a centrifugal clutch and a belt; all the consumables are removed at once - consider it a new mechanism.
Another feature is the main gear. While most Asian ATVs have a chain drive, the Yacota 250 has a driveshaft and gearbox. The differential is locked here too, but the complex mechanism again raises concerns. On the one hand, it lives for a long time, all maintenance comes down to rare oil changes, because the crosspieces are covered with anthers, while the chain constantly requires tensioning, cleaning, lubrication and systematic replacement of drive sprockets. In other words, it is difficult to say which solution is obviously better. One way or another, the cardan and axle work perfectly, there are no complaints about them.
There are all-round disc brakes, in the front there is a mechanism on each wheel, in the rear there is one, located at the axle gearbox, with a continuous axle there is no need for two. The efficiency is excellent, there is a pedal and two levers on the steering wheel, you can choose any one that is convenient for you. On the pedals, of course, the force is less; on the levers, on the contrary, you need to press harder. The drive, like that of adults, is hydraulic, although there are no amplifiers in sight, but the handbrake is with a cable, but it is better to remove it immediately. A quad with a manual transmission can always be parked in gear, but the risk of forgetting about the handbrake and going off to burn the pads is great - there are no lights to remind you of its operation. In addition, it constantly needs to be tightened. In a word - an extra detail.
The air intake is also strategically located, sucking air for the motor from the waterproof housing under the saddle. We sunk this ATV up to the seat, but the filter remained completely dry. At the same time, the engine stalled and did not want to start for a long time. The answer was found by chance - it turned out that the outlet located just below, at the gas release, was filled with water, which the small engine simply could not spit out. I had to put the quad bike upright and drain the water from the muffler, after which the device immediately started up and drove off as if nothing had happened. In general, the exhaust design and its location are far from perfect, while the air filter, on the contrary, turned out to be ready for such tests.
As for the engine, it already deserves the title of classic. Four strokes, one cylinder, two valves, OHC (timing chain and one camshaft), carburetor and air cooling. There is simply nothing to break here, and anyone in the garage can perform maintenance, for example, changing the oil, a spark plug, or adjusting valve clearances; no sophisticated tools or knowledge are needed. The only question, or rather bewilderment, was caused by a couple of computer coolers. How they help the developed cooling fins, which are already blown by all the winds, is not clear, but in this way the Chinese tried to come up with insurance against overheating: the temperature went up and the coolers started working.
Probably, if the ATV is used for rent, where the speeds are low and the area is clean, this decision makes sense, but in the realities of real off-road use, they will die quite quickly, and they are not much use. This statement is confirmed by the experience of other similar engines, where no one installs similar coolers. In addition, air-cooled engines are initially made with such thermal clearances to minimize the risk of thermal seizure, and the mixture is usually richer for the same purpose.
As for passability, instead of dozens of stories, it’s better to try it once to answer all the questions. I will only add that, despite the “underdrive”, the locked axle works wonders, and multiplying it by the modest mass and toy dimensions, you can climb anywhere. The ground clearance allows you to pass a small log between the wheels, the bottom is almost flat, and the 12-inch wheels shod with high tires with an evil pattern are good at chewing even soggy mud. The only real problem can be a waist-deep ford (the ATV needs to be specially prepared for it) and some kind of swamp where the vehicle will fall through.
The rest is incredibly fun. The track where any off-road vehicle will sit on the bridges is taken effortlessly, either along the upper edges, or on the side in a detour, or with one side in the track, the other on the upper edge, there are many options. You can always push the quad even with your own strength, lift it and rearrange it if it is hopelessly buried, and in general there are many options, if only you could use your imagination. With a trailer, of course, it is much more difficult off-road, and although the tow bar is included as standard, it is better not to go beyond dirt roads and hard surfaces with a trailer.
In any case, the Yacota 250 device is interesting and unusual and worthy of attention!
Characteristics
Irbis ATVs, reviews of which indicate high quality products, are distinguished by increased cross-country ability, which makes it easy to overcome various obstacles. They are also quite stable, which has a positive effect on management. Even in winter, when frost freezes the soil, you can travel on an ATV, of course, if they are equipped with appropriate all-season tires with spikes.
The design of these vehicles is such that they are not at all scary to drive on roads with sand dumps or even off-road. After all, all Irbis vehicles, which are distinguished by their accessibility, were created precisely for such conditions. Car owners are forced to maneuver among various embankments or go around them, but those who drive a universal ATV need not worry. If by chance such equipment gets stuck in a swampy environment, it is not at all difficult to push it out of there due to its low weight. Also, owners of compact four-wheeled vehicles do not have any difficulties if they need to purchase spare parts for Irbis ATVs.

The pleasure of driving
An adrenaline rush and a lot of positive emotions compels the Irbis owner to get behind the wheel of a branded motorcycle again and again. What else can inflame the desire to rush at high speed and get pleasure from it as much as an ATV rushing along the off-road? Even a sophisticated SUV sometimes cannot cope with the obstacles that an unusual hybrid of a car and a bike can handle. Moreover, this transport is distinguished by its own safety and maneuverability, which cannot be said about many cars and motorcycles.
Such an all-terrain vehicle with a colorful, sporty design is very economical and is sold at a reasonable price; they ask for about 50,000 rubles, which is quite a bit for maneuverable Irbis models. ATVs, the prices of which exceed the specified amount, are unreasonably expensive, since they are used by professionals; amateurs have no use for them. This vehicle already has everything you need: 3 gears, including reverse, decent speed (about 75 kilometers per hour), which is enough for rough terrain. The seat can fit two people. The Irbis kit already includes shields to protect against dirt and an insulated exhaust pipe, which is not available on all models of other all-terrain vehicles, especially those characterized by modest power unit volumes.
Video
It also differs from similar models in its relatively simple design, which not only makes the equipment highly reliable, but also significantly simplifies maintenance.
The appearance of the ATV is made in a kind of minimalism. The car traditionally has a tubular frame on which all the key elements are installed, namely the suspension system, engine, and wheels. Compared to previous models, in this model the presence of body elements made of plastic has decreased significantly. The only plastic parts that can be noted are fenders, footrests, a decorative hood, as well as special protective linings located on the sides of the ATV. Plastic has increased impact resistance. Also, due to the manufacturing of the listed elements from plastic, washing the ATV is much easier. The frame structure, as well as the front and rear suspension, were painted black. The body can also be black, but in addition to this, the manufacturer also offers two camouflage colors with reed and gray shades.
Increased handling was achieved due to the low weight and the fact that the ATV uses an independent double-wishbone suspension. The suspension is equipped with reinforced shock absorbers, giving the vehicle improved smoothness. A tubular bumper installed at the front reliably protects the entire structure of the front suspension, as well as the entire front of the model. This is due to the fact that the bumper goes into the luggage platform.
Lighting devices are presented in the form of two round headlights.
After the front suspension there is a petrol power unit. The engine used has one cylinder with a displacement of 197 cubic meters. The rated output power is 14.3 horsepower or 10.5 kilowatts. With this indicator, the ATV has good traction, which is especially necessary when driving off-road or when climbing. The engine operates in tandem with a mechanical transmission system. The gearbox includes 4 forward gears and one reverse gear. Torque is transmitted through a chain and only to the axle of the rear wheels.
The rear suspension has a pendulum design with monoshock absorbers. The brake system here is disc with hydraulic drives. Braking mechanisms are installed on all wheels, which ensures effective braking and, consequently, increased safety. In order to reduce dirt deposits on the brakes, the manufacturer placed them deep in the wheel rims.
A 4.5 liter fuel tank is installed above the engine of the Irbis ATV 200U model. Thanks to the efficiency of the power plant, this fuel tank volume is quite sufficient for long trips.
Behind the tank is the driver's seat. It is worth noting that the ATV is designed for only one person. There is a second luggage platform behind the driver's seat, which is standard on all modern ATVs. The instrument panel includes only a speedometer, which is not entirely convenient.
Practicality and versatility
The tendency to purchase motorcycles such as Irbis ATVs came to us from the West. It was there that they began to be widely used both for extreme recreation and for farming needs. After all, if you attach special agricultural equipment to it, the all-terrain vehicle will turn into a sprinkler, lawn mower or something else. In addition to all this, it can also be used to move goods. Difficult sections of the route will be left far behind if you find yourself behind the wheel of such amazing equipment as Irbis ATVs, reviews of which are extremely positive. In addition, such all-terrain vehicles also look attractive, which is also important in modern conditions. Indeed, due to the rapid development of transport and high competition, ATVs must perfectly cope with the tasks assigned to them: be comfortable, safe and have a memorable exterior.
There is no doubt that satisfied users of Irbis vehicles, which have all the above-mentioned advantages, have a wonderful active holiday with this equipment.
Review and Comparison of ATVs Avantis Classic 200 New, Motoland ALL Road 200 and ATV Beorn 200
Good afternoon, dear subscribers, I greet you, Seryoga Beard, and I am now at the Bastion motorcycle showroom in Kazan. Finally, the long-awaited new product of the end of 2021 has arrived, the ATV Avantis Classic 200 New, which we will talk about today. I want to review this ATV, and at the same time compare it with similar models in this price segment with equal characteristics. The Avantis Classic 200 New ATV can still be met, touched and purchased live only at the Bastion motorcycle showroom in Kazan.
Well, let's start. What immediately catches your eye is, of course, stylish tuning, adjustable shock absorbers, which are absent not only on its compared competitors, but also on more expensive analogues. And since we started with the chassis, we will continue our review of it. All main components and assemblies with grease nipples, unlike competitors. The suspension cannot be compared at all in terms of comfort, because... Naturally, the Avantis Classic 200 New will benefit, thanks to the same adjustable rear monoshock and two front ones, because it is possible to customize individual comfort for any rider. Further, the chain, like on the more expensive analogues of the Avantis Hunter 200, is reinforced 530, in principle the same as on the Motoland ALL Road 200, while the Beorn 200 has a regular one. Already in the database, unlike all competitors, only the Avantis Classic 200 New ATV has a full-fledged tow bar, while others do not even have a pre-installed platform. By the way, in the old versions before the crisis, Bern had a tow bar. As for the footrests - here in the Motoland span, it only has single-seat footrests; the passenger’s legs can only be thrown over the driver’s. All others have passenger footrests. As for the instruments, everything here is quite simple and ascetic, all ATVs in this budget segment do not have a dashboard, there are only reverse indicators, but again, all are equipped with a cigarette lighter and an engine hour sensor.
Now about the disadvantages: the Avantis Classic 200 New and BEORN 200 ATVs are not equipped with an additional oil cooler, as well as hydraulic, disc brakes only in the rear, drum brakes in the front, unlike its older brother ATV Avantis Hunter 200 and other participants. Of the three, only the Motoland ALL Road 200 can boast of hand protection. But by and large, these are little things that more than offset its advantages, for example, the presence of a kickstarter, a very necessary and useful option, especially in autumn and winter. Only the ATV Avantis Classic 200 New and Avantis Hunter 200 are equipped with a backup starter + electric, which immediately makes them the undisputed leaders. A Honda engine, which was originally designed for air cooling, by and large does not need an oil cooler. And such useful accessories for any ATV, such as hand protection, heated grips, and a windshield, can be purchased separately of excellent quality and absolutely inexpensive.
Well, in conclusion, we note the modern diode optics of the headlights and the new interesting design of the rear light.
To summarize, having considered all the pros and cons, and also taking into account Avantis’ trump card - the biggest guarantee of all brands presented on the Russian market, I would call the Avantis Classic 200 New ATV truly the most long-awaited new product of the end of 2021. Make your choice, I hope I helped you in some way, and good luck on the roads!
Driving Experience
Drivers claim that starting the ATV is easy, for which you just need to press the electric start button on the steering wheel. There is also a throttle opening lever installed here, which allows you to enrich the fuel mixture when starting in the cold season.
A convenient feature provided by the manufacturer is the presence of a remote control, which can also be used to configure alarm parameters.
The tires of the Stalker 250 are quite high, which allows you to overcome even significant obstacles. In winter, it is recommended to equip the wheels with snow chains.
The ATV, front and rear, has a spacious trunk, which, in addition to carrying cargo, also protects the plastic fenders from mechanical damage. The instrument panel with indicators and hour meter also increases driving comfort.
