BRP 69 Yeti Army Limited 800 E-TEC is a universal snowmobile from a famous Canadian brand. The car went into production in a limited edition. This is a rare modification designed for extreme travel on snowy roads with difficult terrain. You can also move on loose snow, or use this device as a carrier of large loads. At the first stage of development, BRP positioned this snowmobile for military needs, but later civilian modifications appeared based on this model.
The BRP 69 Yeti Army Limited 800 E-TEC is a high-tech snowmobile developed by the Finnish division of BRP. The machine is ideally adapted to harsh climatic conditions, including the northern regions of Russia. The model under consideration works properly in regions with low temperatures.
The snowmobile, belonging to the family of the same name, is positioned as the widest track snowmobile in the world. We have before us a limited version with original solutions – both in technical and design terms. The machine is equipped with a telescopic or lever suspension, depending on the selected configuration.
Let's note the main advantages of the Army Limited 800 E-TEC series:
- Curved steering wheel with adjustable height
- Mountain sling
- Gearbox with low modes
- Two seats (driver and passenger)
- Energy-intensive suspension.
The limited-edition Canadian snowmobile combined the advantages of sports and touring machines, and thus became a universal device. In terms of comfort, a car with a telescopic suspension is certainly somewhat worse compared to the lever version, but, at the same time, the latter option is not as sporty and is endowed with refined handling (unlike the telescopic suspension). In any case, the telescopic option is considered more preferable for areas with a lot of trees. We highly appreciate the unique design with wide tracks and Blade skis. The beneficial properties of this chassis have a beneficial effect on cornering stability. Any slipping and uncontrolled drifts are absolutely excluded. The BRP 69 Yeti Army Limited 800 E-TEC snowmobile has a two-speed transmission and clutch with excellent settings. Thanks to the increased gear ratio, it was possible to facilitate the movement of the snowmobile when fully loaded (two people plus a small load). The powerful powerplant delivers excellent traction performance and is tuned to achieve high top speeds in a short time. Note the fact that even under heavy load the engine does not overheat at all, since the cooling system always maintains a stable temperature that does not increase above the optimal level. In addition, the design of the cooling system is reinforced by a radiator located at the front.
Basic equipment elements:
- Electric starter
- Blade skis
- Heated grip function
- Rear view using side mirrors
- U-shaped metal steering wheel with J-shaped handles. The extension can be adjusted.
- Increased height windshield
- Multifunctional information dashboard
- Towbar
- Two Modular seats. The passenger seat can be quickly removed if necessary.
- Speedometer, tachometer
- Underbody protection for the engine compartment
- Rechargeable battery adapted to the northern regions of Russia
- Fuel level sensor
- Case, camouflage coloring.
Pros:
- Powerful high torque motor
- Steel engine protection
- Possibility to choose between energy-intensive and rigid suspension
- Double seat, as well as the ability to transport cargo containers
- Economy and environmental friendliness of internal combustion engines
- Sharp and responsive handling with telescopic suspension.
Minuses:
- The engine is demanding on fuel quality
- Mediocre handling and cross-country ability of the version with wishbone suspension
- Expensive service, limited edition, high cost of the limited version.

Test of the new Lynx Commander Touratech 800R E-TEC
The BRP company was not only the first to launch serial production of snowmobiles, made the utilitarian line the widest, then taught utilitarians excellent taxiing qualities and equipped them with the most powerful two-stroke engines, but now it is thoroughly reconsidering the issues of luggage transportation and its layout. How else can we look at the Touratech Traveler project...
The Lynx' Commander 800R E-TEC snowmobile itself is a unique phenomenon, and it could appear exclusively in the BRP family. Why? Because the Canadians, in collaboration with their Finnish colleagues, have been successfully expanding the utilitarian range of their snowmobiles for quite a long time. At the same time, they assembled them with a variety of engines, both exploring the light utility segment and equipping them with super-powerful engines. This work could not proceed without the most important task - creating a progressive platform that combines a number of qualities, the most important of which are handling and ergonomics. And at a certain moment, the stars, as they say, fell into the right position - and the Commander 800R E-TEC turned out to be! To this day, there are debates among apologists of utilitarian snowmobiles about the advisability of equipping this class of devices with powerful motors. 163 power today is not just a lot, but a lot, considering that colleagues in the class have not exceeded 140. Arctic Cat has a Japanese four-stroke engine with 135 power, Polaris has 600 “cubes” of the flagship IQ Wide Trak comment, and the new Yamaha Professional II remains. True, they share the same engine with Arctic Cat, and the power, I think, is about 135 horsepower.
Does a utilitarian device need such power? Yes, if you are a fan of active riding, go on expeditions, and pulling a heavy trailer is a normal state of affairs for you. No, if you drive the Viking IV family, prefer speed for leisurely contemplation of snow-covered beauties, engineering solutions of the 70s and, again, the need for towing heavy loads are simply absent.
In terms of drive quality, the Lynx Commander 800R E-TEC is a very extraordinary device. It’s clear, 163 plus power, but look at the caterpillar! 392 centimeters in length is the classic mountain size of 154 inches. 44 mm grip, this is a real cross size. And the track width of 20 inches determines high utilitarian cross-country ability. And imagine all this “wealth” in the context of the 163 horsepower of the Rotax engine... a bundle of delight controlled by the throttle trigger. By the way, the Finns themselves on their factory website put the Lynx Commander 800R E-TEC in the category of crossovers; they did not put the “utilitarian” label on it. And I understand this decision, because if you look at the technical data, yes, it’s a classic utilitarian, but if you sit down and drive, excuse me, it’s a crossover. And here, first of all, “thanks” to the LXU platform, thanks to which this device steers like a tourist and jumps like an athlete. For a 50-centimeter machine along the track, it is very narrow, or, let’s say, with a vertical stance, you don’t need to put your feet two shoulder width apart.
The base of the skis is narrow 99.6 centimeters, plus it is adjustable by another +/- 21 mm. With such data, it is convenient to walk along a slope, wade through bushes, and climb where others would not dare to venture. So, about climbing here and there, while having a significant autonomous set of luggage, this is exactly the option that came out of the cooperation between Lynx and the manufacturer of motorcycle panniers and accessories Touratech.
First of all, the Lynx Commander 800R E-TEC has acquired a reliable front bumper and an intricate aluminum hood protection, in the signature Touratech design and performance. THE SECRET TO THE EXCELLENT HANDLING OF BRP WIDE TRUCKS IS PROBABLY THE BASE 40.6 CM TRACK on mountain models. When they honed the 16th truck for great driving, 20 inches no longer scared them.
Even if snowmobile plastic can boast of strength characteristics today, it certainly cannot boast of maintaining its presentation. Making your way through dense bushes or walking along the azimuth through the forest, often on this part of the path the plastic loses its pristine beauty...
Two Touratech aluminum panniers, coupled with a luggage rack, will satisfy the most demanding snowmobile traveler in terms of proper distribution of travel luggage. Extensive experience in the production of panniers for the world of motorcycle-enduro will allow us to implement a high-level snowmobile project. The lid of each case can be opened from either side; the cases themselves have a high coefficient of protection against moisture, water and vibration. Unpacking, let's say, without any time delay or any mechanical difficulties.
Among the advanced expedition solutions of the Lynx Commander Touratech 800R E-TEC, first of all, I would like to note the electronic rear suspension control system. The decision is more than logical, because during a hike the weight of luggage can change quite significantly - fuel, food, and consumables decrease. Adjusting the suspension while merrily rattling the keys in the cold is not exactly a boring task, but it does not at all evoke optimism among travelers. That’s why the Finns equipped Touratech with the ECS 2.1 system, which changes the settings of the rear suspension shock absorbers and spring preload remotely, via electronic control. The cooperation between Lynx and Touratech turned out to be more than successful, the snowflake surroundings alone are worth it...
It’s strange that manufacturers of LED optics or action cameras have not yet “knocked” at the BRP factory gates, releasing special models to the market for use in a creepy unlit hole or for filming a mega-cool video. During road tests of the Lynx Commander Touratech 800R E-TEC, it became clear that such a set of body kit and panniers would be useful not only for one model, but also as an independent position in the Ski-Doo/Lynx accessories catalog, because the solution is successful and useful. And it will be in demand both by the market and by snowmobilers in Russia. We hope that the Finnish guys and BRP marketers will help, and any snowmobiler will be able to equip his machine with a Touratech power body kit, coupled with time-tested and enduro cases and bags.

Engine
The vehicle in question is equipped with a modern Rotax 800R E-TEC power plant, which stands out for its high fuel efficiency - largely due to its compact two-stroke layout with direct fuel injection and electronic control technology. These improvements result in ease of use and excellent performance for hours of use. Practice and factory tests have confirmed that the Rotax 800R E-TEC engine is 35% more economical than the closest two-stroke analogues.
With a displacement of 0.8 liters, the power plant develops 163 horsepower. The two-cylinder unit is equipped with liquid cooling, and the role of the fuel system is performed by electronic direct injection. The spacious fuel tank holds up to 45 liters, and the oil tank holds 2.8 liters of fluid.
Among the main advantages of the motor, we note the following features:
- Cruising range up to 325 km on one fully charged tank
- The engine starts with one revolution of the crankshaft, despite extremely low temperatures
- Smooth idle operation
- Minimum oil consumption at high loads (1 liter required for 450 km)
- Rational use of power output in such a way that there is a reserve of power - for example, for moving uphill and performing complex traction tasks
- Automatic break-in
- High environmental performance of internal combustion engines
- During long-term operation, the engine does not emit smoke or unpleasant odors.
- Automatic conservation.
Reviews
- Alexander, St. Petersburg. The machine is compact and reliable, designed to tow heavy cargo containers. To achieve this, the unit is equipped with a powerful motor and has a large power reserve. The result was a kind of sports truck on tracks. A forced engine works wonders - it instantly accelerates a light snowmobile to maximum speed. Acceleration above 100 km/h - without any problems. As for the quality of workmanship, I have not yet been able to find fault with the Finnish technology. Low gasoline consumption of 15 liters per hundred inspires confidence that the snowmobile will not stall somewhere in the wilderness, and I can always get out of the snowy forest. The range is excellent. I didn't regret spending a lot of money on the BRP 69 Yeti Army Limited 800 E-TEC snowmobile. For me it is really expensive, but friends recommended this particular model. I've been using it for two years.
- Nikita, Nizhny Novgorod. I've owned a lot of snowmobiles, and I like to study their technical properties and then compare them with the machines I've owned. My latest model is a limited edition BRP 69 Yeti Army Limited 800 E-tEC with an uprated 160-horsepower engine, wishbone suspension and exclusive camouflage paint. Looks amazing. This machine has a slightly increased grip compared to the base model. Of course, with such an engine the car will quickly gain the desired speed. True, gasoline consumption increases to 25-30 liters (with an aggressive driving style). I've been using the car for the second season now and have had no problems with the engine. Among the disadvantages of the suspension, I will note the disadvantages of the lever scheme - such a suspension quickly becomes clogged, and as a result, cross-country ability worsens. Other unpleasant aspects are the large mass and high fuel consumption when overloaded. By the way, you can ride together and with a small load.
- Alexey, Ufa. I have been using the 69 Yeti Army Limited 800 snowmobile for a year and a half. The car is good in terms of handling, especially compared to its predecessor, which I had the opportunity to drive (from a friend). I will note the high geometric cross-country ability of the version with a lever suspension, but the handling with such a scheme is a little smeared, unlike a snowmobile with a telescopic suspension. But comfort is more important to me, especially since I have a family and children. I compared my snowmobile with several cars. For example, the difference in speed and quality compared to the 550 Scandic is colossal. Perhaps this Canadian has no analogues in Russia, and I don’t know who to compare him with. The only negative is the high price and expensive service. And I saved for it for a very long time.
- Semyon, Krasnoyarsk. BRP 69 Yeti Army Limited 800 E-TEC is a high-tech device compared to the Russian models that I had. There is no comparison with my former Buran. Of course, all the advantages are in favor of BRP, but it’s still somehow unusual. It took a long time to get used to the controls. The steering wheel is too heavy, I was actually surprised. I have the version with wishbone suspension. When accelerating sharply, problems arise with directional stability, and the steering wheel must be held very tightly. Well, at least such problems begin after 80 km/h. I praise the car for its indestructible comfortable suspension, a comfortable driver's seat, which can also be supplemented with a passenger seat, as well as a spacious trunk or even a trailer. There is an adjustable steering wheel. The car is tuned for a comfortable ride, and it is not at all sporty.
