NO OBSTACLES ON THE WAY
Excellent maneuverability
The Skandic snowmobile is equipped with a wide track with a large contact patch, making driving in deep snow easy and comfortable. You can easily overcome all the snowdrifts even with a loaded trailer.
CREATED FOR THOSE WHO WORK WITH CONSCIENCE
Iron Grit
Skandic snowmobiles were developed specifically for work trips on difficult terrain. Just like you, this sled never tires; its ultra-reliable Rotax engine makes even work-related tasks seem like fun.
Engine
The machine is equipped with a powerful four-stroke engine with a three-cylinder layout. The power output of the engine reaches 90 horsepower. Among the main features of the engine compared to its competitors, we highlight record fuel efficiency - average gasoline consumption reaches only 11 liters per 100 kilometers. We also note the high traction characteristics due to the high torque. The last factor indicates trouble-free overcoming of any obstacles, as well as the ability to move uphill or tow heavy trailers. Among the undeniable advantages, we also note the very quiet operation of the motor, which is very rare for such a design. The four-stroke engine is considered technically superior to the two-stroke engine. In addition, it is more economical and environmentally friendly than a 2-stroke engine, and it has greater overclocking potential.
UNIVERSAL SNOWMOBILE FOR WORK AND REST
Rear suspension SC-5U
Universal suspension, suitable for work and leisure trips. You will be equally comfortable both on the track and in deep snow. The articulated guide will provide high maneuverability when reversing in deep snow or blocking during towing.
Reviews
- Andrey, Lipetsk region. The car was purchased in 2021 at a good discount. The technology pleased us with its high torque and great traction. Actually, that's why I bought it. For me, the most important thing is transporting goods, towing trailers or pulling vehicles out of ruts. The car copes with this with a bang. It has a stylish design, and a high windshield protects my face from headwinds and snow. Therefore, from the point of view of ergonomics and load capacity, everything is excellent. There are problems with reliability, but only in the chassis. The caterpillars are especially capricious - after all, I often move off-road, and sometimes I come across obstacles hidden under deep snow. On a well-trodden road such problems do not arise. Handling is quite predictable and the engine is powerful but noisy and vibrates. I will praise the car primarily for its carrying capacity, and here the Skido Scandic is a worthy workhorse.
- Konstantin, Priozersk. There are several things I don't like about this car. First of all, these are handling, build quality, slippery seat and low ground clearance. The front turning skis are very fragile - in two years of use I have already replaced two sets of skis, this is inexplicable at all. Fuel consumption exceeds 20 liters, and this is oh, how far from the official figures - the developers are talking about a sky-high 10 liters. One marketing. The design of the model was impressive - well, as I say, it’s just marketing. Poor handling is further worsened by engine noise and vibrations that transfer to the steering column. Unfortunately, the snowmobile was not a success. I will sell it to my friend, he needs a device with a high load capacity - the car did not let me down in this discipline. But I need a more balanced snowmobile, suitable for active riding, to enjoy fast riding. But unfortunately, serious skidding and slipping on this car does not inspire optimism.
- Vasily, Krasnodar region. Skido Scandic SVT 900ACE is a productive machine with many pros and cons. It cost me 1.2 million rubles, and, in my opinion, the price is greatly overpriced. The device is not intended for active driving, and is more configured for off-road driving, with large trailers and loads. A kind of workhorse, which is an analogue of a mini-truck with a tracked chassis instead of wheels. Practicality is top notch. This applies not only to cross-country ability, but also to convenient and ergonomic devices that will never go blind in the sun. The car looks stylish and original. It handles predictably, but the heavy and tight steering wheel does not allow you to quickly take turns. The snowmobile does not have the ideal balance between handling and comfort, and this is a clear disadvantage. I liked that the seat has a passenger backrest, as well as the functions of heating the gas trigger and steering wheel for low temperatures. Fuel consumption is about 20 liters per 100 km.
CONVENIENCE OF TRANSPORTING HEAVY LOADS
Easy Shift Transmission
Easy shifting and a wide range of gear ratios. Ideal for towing heavy loads due to its ability to withstand high loads. An optimized lubrication system guarantees ultra-high reliability and makes the mechanism almost silent. The convenient HLN gearbox is equipped with a reverse function, which can be activated at the touch of a button.
Ski-Doo Expedition LE and Lynx Commander STD 900ACE. Comparison of snowmobiles.
Last winter did not please us with the lack of snow, but new models of snowmobiles made all winter recreation lovers take a closer look at the new models.
Two of the most popular all-around new wide-track snowmobiles on the new G4 platform with the new EasyShift transmission have attracted a lot of attention.
One model is from the “Canadian” Ski-Doo line, and the second is from the Finnish LYNX model line.
Which model should you prefer and what are the differences? Let's look at them and compare.
For the second year now, Austrian ROTAX 900 ACE engines have been producing not 90, but 95 hp. thanks to modernization. These are the most modern 3-cylinder engines with electronic throttle control and three operating modes that can be switched on the go. Both sleds are equipped with additional radiators with a fan, which are located under the hood.
The iTC electronic control system greatly increases both comfort and safety when riding a snowmobile, allowing you to select the best mode depending on the task and snow cover.
What is the new G4 platform on the Ski-Doo Expedition LE and its RADIEN-X counterpart on the Finnish Lynx Commander snowmobile?
The lightweight, durable and reliable platform accommodates a 20-inch wide track, maximizing flotation and flotation and ensuring precise handling. Maximum comfort and energy efficiency both on and off the trails.
At the rear of the platform behind the passenger seat is the rack and Multi-LinQ mounting plate.
The standard LinQ system on the rack provides the ability to install both 16- and 20-inch accessories, taking the system's versatility to a higher level. The luggage capacity has been increased to 56.7 kg.
In addition to the new platform, these snowmobiles have acquired a new EasyShift (HLN) gearbox with electromechanical reverse activated by a button.
Simple switching and the ability to change the gear ratio. The gearbox is designed for harsh operating conditions. It provides high reliability and can withstand high loads, and also has an optimized lubrication system.
Both sleds feature a new instrument panel with bright amber backlighting and a 4.5-inch diagonal. Featuring a fully digital LCD display with excellent viewing angles, this instrument panel makes information easy to read both standing and seated.
Visually, we immediately pay attention to the front suspension arms. On the EXPEDITION 900, straight arms and the ski base are adjustable within 97.5 - 102 cm. And on the COMMANDER we see curved suspension arms and a ski base of the same width 99.6 cm with the ability to adjust with spacers +/- 2.5 cm.
The skis on these snowmobiles are completely different. The Canadian snowmobile is equipped with standard wide Pilot 7.4 skis, perfect for utilitarian tasks and quiet riding in deep snow. Counter-steering on such skis is easier due to the smoother heel of the skis. And the higher toe of the ski helps to overcome small logs on the path, moving over them without resting the toe of the ski.
And its “Finnish” brother sports powerful Blade DS+ skis with a deep double-keel profile. Aggressive riding with turns or riding on hard crust – these skis dig into the snow and clearly maintain the trajectory. The front of the DS+ skis is wider, and their profile is more suitable for “omnivorous” off-piste riding in any snow. Both on crust and on virgin snow these skis performed excellently.
The front suspension shock absorbers of both snowmobiles are gas-filled and handle unevenness well, trying to keep the skis in contact with the surface as much as possible. Only the Ski-Doo Expedition has a front anti-roll bar in the suspension, while its LYNX sibling does not. Because LYNX is designed for more aggressive riding in a variety of conditions.
The EXPEDITION rear suspension is standard across Ski-Doo's wide-track utility line and features gas shock absorbers. Here we see the Silent Cobra series low-noise track with a 38mm toe.
And the Finnish COMMANDER has a 44mm snow hook on the track and an excellent EasyRide suspension with a hinge and a lifting “heel”, which shows the wonders of cross-country ability when moving in reverse.
The curved steering wheels on both snowmobiles are identical, but the spacer on the EXPEDITION is higher. Its height is 145 mm, versus the 140 mm handlebar spacer on the COMMANDER.
The EXPEDITION is equipped with rear-view mirrors that can be used in both vertical and horizontal positions, and a passenger seat with heated grips.
On Lynx Commander, which in the 2021 model year is 44,000 rubles cheaper than EXPEDITION, these accessories can be purchased separately if necessary.
For the 2021 model year, the EXPEDITION 900 TURBO utility snowmobile received a new top-end VIP package with a studded track and a color display with the Bluetooth system. Video review of the new EXPEDITION VIP .
