Having figured out what will be sold in Russia from the motorcycles that Aprilia produces, let’s move on to scooters. As you know, not all products of motorcycle manufacturers reach us. The reasons are different: from gasoline to marketing.
This year, the following Aprilia scooter models will be officially supplied to us: Sport City 300 Cube, SR 50 R Carb and Mojito 50 Custom 2T. A separate column in the logistics documents is represented by the Scarabeo scooter, also produced by Aprilia, but living its own life, so we’ll talk about it some other time.
It’s difficult to say much about the SR 50 R, since it is well known to those who are interested in scooters in general and Aprilia scooters in particular. It is known that this scooter has a powerful 2-stroke engine, which is easy to tune, as well as good suspensions that provide it with excellent handling and stability at high speed.

Little known among us, the Mojito 50 Custom is, first of all, a “stylish little thing” that came straight from the 60s. It is clear that not the scooter itself, but a style that flourished in a time when flower children were going to their concerts and leading a promiscuous lifestyle. The second point is Custom, that is, the 60s plus “custom”. Agree, it's tempting. Wide steering wheel, additional “shalabushki”, rear wing, mirrors... It seems that these are all little things. But for a true connoisseur, even if many will call him a fetishist, the wide steering wheel and everything else are the values that shape the world around the “connoisseur” himself, and at the same time around you and me. For many style fans, the main thing is not just to ride, but “how to ride”... This scooter will be delivered to us in a version with a 2-stroke engine, which is well known both here and in Europe.
Sport City 300 Cube is a completely different story. This maxi-scooter can give a head start to many competitors both in appearance and in ride quality. It will be supplied to us only in the version with an engine displacement of 278.3 cubic meters. The engine is 4-stroke single-cylinder with a horizontal cylinder arrangement, liquid cooling and four valves. Engine power 22.5 liters. s., torque - 22 Nm. “City cube” is actually “city paving stone”, if you pay close attention to the translation.

In other words, thanks to the large wheels, this scooter runs well both on asphalt and on such difficult surfaces, which we call “diabase”. It is clear that trips to the grader or just on our road will not be a big problem. Good suspension and 15‑inch wheels will allow you to comfortably absorb kilometers of our destinations.
Wheels are wheels, but other elements of this scooter also inspire respect. Those who need to travel long and far will appreciate the comfortable seat, modern instrument panel and comfortable seating position.
Good brakes (two 260 mm discs at the front and one 220 mm stainless steel disc) will stop the scooter softly but confidently even when fully loaded.
The injection engine allows you to save fuel, but the manufacturer still installed a spacious fuel tank with a capacity of 9 liters. The stock, as they say, doesn’t hurt your neck.

Aprilia
In recent years, an increasing number of our compatriots have chosen a scooter as a convenient and most versatile urban vehicle. Among the many brands on the market, the products of the Italian company Aprilia are especially popular. The scooters that come off the assembly line under this brand are comfortable and maneuverable, easy to control and beautiful to look at, fast and affordable. They consume fuel economically and are easy to maintain. The company offers customers a wide range of scooters, ranging from mini bikes to powerful scooters with an impressive engine capacity.
The predecessor of the Aprilia company was a small bicycle workshop that opened in the 40s of the last century near Venice. Its owner Alberto Beggio, in cooperation with his son Ivano, presented their first bike under the Aprilia brand in 1968. Later, the first Aprilia mopeds were released - Kolibri and Daniela, cross-bikes Scarabeo and Aprilia 125 ST, which repeatedly took part in national road racing competitions.
With the beginning of the 90s, a new period began in the history of the company associated with the production of urban vehicles - scooters. At this time, such models as Aprilia Amico, Aprilia SR 50, Aprilia Leonardo, Scarabeo and others were presented to the world. By the way, the latest model, equipped with large wheels, became the best-selling scooter in those years not only in Italy, but throughout the world. And the Aprilia SR 50 scooter attracted buyers because it was equipped with a new “Ditech” engine: according to the developers, it was the cleanest, consumed the minimum amount of fuel and had a low emission level.
In the production of scooters, the company has always been guided by a creative and unconventional approach to the development of new models, so each new product pleasantly surprised fans of this convenient vehicle for city streets. Like, for example, the SR ME5 Hydrogen model, released in 2004. This bike, which runs on hydrogen fuel, is recognized as the most environmentally friendly product of the Aprilia brand. The basis for the manufacture of this scooter, also equipped with an electric motor, was the popular SR 50 model. The company's management called their brainchild the main means of transportation of the near future.
Taking into account the production and sales volumes of scooters and motorcycles, Aprilia, which has recently been part of the oldest motorcycle manufacturer of the Piaggio concern, firmly holds second place in the world. The company's 5 factories annually produce about 300 thousand transport units. The brand confidently keeps up with the times, actively introducing new technologies and its own developments into production, receiving in return not only high sales and awards, but also the love and respect of customers.
Race version of the Aprilia SR150 scooter was presented in India
The new SR150 from the Italian manufacturer Aprilia was presented in India. According to journalists, the scooter received a slightly modified appearance, as well as significant improvements in technical characteristics.
The first change was made to the variator. The Italians decided to install a more technologically advanced model that will provide a quick start and much better acceleration.
External changes affected the color scheme. The Aprilia company decided to remind in the Race version about its racing roots. Therefore, the scooter received a classic sports color scheme using red, gray and specific Maze Gray colors.
Oddly enough, the engine of the new product has not undergone significant upgrades. This is the same, proven single-cylinder 154 cc. a unit that produces 10.4 horsepower.
The scooter will be equipped with 220 mm disc brakes at the front and 140 mm at the rear. Fans of racing motorcycles from Italians will be able to order a special mat for their feet, which is made in the Aprilia racing style.
The new product will be produced in India at a special Aprilia department. The SR150 model will cost over 70 thousand rupees, which is 61 thousand in rubles, and this is only 2 thousand more than the standard model.

Aprilia SR 50R
The Italian scooter Aprilia SR 50 R is the world's first truly sports scooter, which is an almost complete mini copy of the legendary sports monster RSV 1000 R Factory.
A stunning similarity with its older brother is observed not only in appearance, but also in the use of modern technologies to achieve maximum speed and dynamics.
The aggressive design of this scooter with a clear claim to speed and drive speaks for itself: separate front optics, large wheels with low-profile tires, streamlined leg protection, a central air intake and an aerodynamic tail with integrated rear optics. The Aprilia SR 50 R scooter is an excellent sports equipment for lovers of speed and thrills. This model was originally designed to travel on roads at high speed, either alone or with a companion. In addition, this is a very bright and beautiful scooter, with its original war paint in the following options: Speed Orange, Aprilia Black, Aprilia White or De Angelis Replica. A powerful and economical engine will give its owner a lot of thrills, and the unique charisma of the sportbike will constantly attract the attention of others.
The 50 cm3 two-stroke engine of this device is superior in performance to any other engine with a similar cubic capacity. Aprilia engineers managed to squeeze a maximum power of 8 horsepower out of such a small volume. This is one of the first two-stroke engines with direct fuel injection. This combination made it possible to maximize dynamic performance while simultaneously reducing fuel consumption. This scooter consumes no more than 2 l/100 km when driving on the highway at a maximum speed of 85 km/h. Agree, these indicators deserve true respect for this manufacturer.
To help such a powerful and revving engine, a water cooling system with an electric fan and a full-fledged radiator located under the central fairing is installed. In general, everything here is like an adult.
A lightweight frame of a special design made it possible to lower the center of gravity as much as possible and bring the handling of this device to a very high level. This was also facilitated by 13-inch alloy wheels with low tires. Special attention to the braking system: there are powerful disc brakes with enlarged brake discs at the front and rear, which is absolutely not typical for mopeds of this class.
The ergonomics of the Aprilia SR 50 R are unmatched by other scooters. Everything here is thought out to the smallest detail: aerodynamic mirrors, a digital instrument panel and a comfortable two-seater seat with side bolsters for the passenger’s feet.
You can buy this scooter inexpensively in our stores located in convenient places in Moscow. If necessary, equipment is delivered using the company’s own transport or third-party carriers.
Aprilia SRV 850: Hyperscooter
Almost 850 cm3, power 76 hp. With. and a top speed of 194 km/h: it looks like the Aprilia SRV 850 is the most powerful scooter in the world.
Scooter Aprilia SRV 850
A column of identical cars slowly glides through Scansano, a city 1,000,000 km north of Rome. Vacationers in gardens and cafes look up from cards and dominoes: “What is this: a scooter, not a boat?!” - they are surprised.
The SRV 850 is not completely new: its engine and suspensions are derived from the Gilery GP 800, which debuted in 2008. This maxi-scooter did not make a career even in Italy, which is famous for its weakness for scooters. Perhaps he was too polite. Despite this (or maybe that’s why) he got a second chance (Gilera belongs to Aprilia). The SRV 850 has a sportier character, the engineers dressed it in an RSV4-style fairing, retuned the suspension, and the two-cylinder engine squeezes out as much as 76 hp. This is much more than the BMW C 600 Sport and C 650 GT (60 hp) or the Yamaha T-Max 530 (47 hp).
According to the manufacturer's declaration, the new Aprilia accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. The SRV 850 will take a little time for the rider to get used to because the continuously variable transmission eliminates the reduction before going into corners. However, the SRV 850 can ventilate sharply and the car goes through all the corners very harmoniously. This is possible with fairly rigidly tuned suspensions. The scooter dynamically and sportily “swallows” even very narrow turns, without leaving the chosen trajectory.
Although the sample we tested did not have ABS, the corresponding control was on the dash.
It's not hard to guess that the design prototype for the SRV 850 was the RSV4.
Chain drive - This solution is taken from a motorcycle, except that chain = lubrication.
And this despite the fact that the scooter cannot be called filigree: the wheelbase reaches 1.60 m, and the dry weight is almost 250 kg. These settings may be at rest when, for example, you need to place the scooter on a center stand or push it to a curb. I'm lucky that the parking brake located on the right side of the cab helps when parking on a slope.
The scooter accelerates dynamically even if the speedometer shows 140 km/h. But on the heavily patrolled roads we drove through, we didn't want to cross this barrier. It was not possible to go all the way during the presentation, but the top speed of 194 km/h, which Aprilia announces with undisguised pride, could be reached with ease.
A compact, sporty silhouette and a more feisty character should bring the Aprilia SRV 850 more supporters than the Gilera GP 800 managed to get, which, by the way, has not disappeared from the market.
