The main advantage of any motorcycle is the engine produced by the Zongshen brand. The four-stroke engine has an engine capacity of 230 cm3, has only 1 cylinder and is powered by AI-92 fuel. The Zongshen 250 engine is economical, because with modest performance the fuel consumption increased to about 2.5 l/100 km. With a very simple engine design and a power of only 7.7 horsepower, the manufacturer equipped it with standard forced-air cooling.

A good 5-speed manual gearbox improves acceleration dynamics, and the standard frame makes the length of the motorcycle up to 2 meters. With average engine performance, the weight of the motorcycle is slightly exaggerated and amounted to 170 kg, equating this parameter to a road class motorcycle. The engine is started in two standard ways - kickstarter or electric starter.

10,000 km, ANNIVERSARY! Results... Day X has arrived, today I went to work and accidentally looked at the odometer, and there was 9999, another minute and already 10,000 km, I stopped with such joy, thought, but this is an anniversary! I stood on the side of the road for a few minutes, smiled to myself, and remembered that it was time to change the oil and filters. Then I thought: it’s not bad at all, many said that the motorcycle was expensive, not worth the money, it would break, but what would happen in the end? And in the end, 10,000 km of mileage were behind us, with one breakdown - a crumbling camshaft bearing separator. But otherwise the motorcycle is pleasing, it fully fulfills its functions and met all expectations. The engine doesn't run badly, since the time of purchase the only thing I've changed is the chain and that was out of stupidity, the problem of rattling at low speeds has not been eliminated, apparently this is a design feature. I noticed that in cool weather (below +20), the motorcycle rides more fun, it sometimes overheats if you ride for a long time in first gear with a load, but the fans on the radiators turn on and after 10-30 seconds everything falls into place, the engine cools down. I’m pleased with the consumption of 4 liters per hundred, I pour whatever gasoline I can find at gas stations, both 92 and 95, I don’t even bother about which pump I drive under and pour, I don’t notice the difference. I mostly drive on straight roads without a load at 90 km/h, which is exactly 6,000 rpm in 6th gear; if with a load or a passenger, I move in 5th and also 6,000 rpm, which is exactly 80 km/h, and I turn it up more. only when overtaking. The motorcycle does not provoke aggressive riding; people around us are often interested in what brand it is, how it rides, etc. I noticed that the traffic police stopped stopping me, they just got used to the motorcycle, they know that everything is in order with the documents, the driver is adequate and always (unfortunately for the employees) sober. I have never seen such a motorcycle in the 100-200 km area. In general, everything is fine, I’m happy with the purchase, I plan to buy a new front tire, because I’m going to ride a motorcycle to work until the late cold weather, until it becomes slippery. I’ve already bought a new summer tire, but for the cold weather I want to look for something a little endurish. I looked at a certain PETROSHIN at a local car market, I really liked the tread pattern, there were a lot of 1*1cm squares, but at a price of $40 they said that it was wearing off before our eyes... we’ll look for something else. I also bought myself some equipment, if you can call it that, well, a jacket and a jacket, with inserts (shoulders, back, elbows, knees) that, God forbid, would never come in handy. So far I’ve been driving at temperatures outside of +10 and above, it’s normal, I haven’t driven at lower temperatures yet, we haven’t had anything like that. There are also pants, but I'm in the photo without them. Such are the things, I congratulate myself on my anniversary, I’ll celebrate with cognac in the evening, peace and goodness to everyone!

Design features

When comparing the motorcycle with its smaller brother, there are many differences to notice. These include different exhaust systems, mirror shapes, driven sprockets and engine behavior. In the 200 cc model, the engine reaches maximum speed not so vigorously; high speeds are gained reluctantly. The Zongshen ZS250GS has a good sound from the exhaust pipe; when driving in the city, it is optimal to maintain speeds in the range from 3 to 7 thousand. If you increase these indicators, then often even the presence of a balancing shaft will not save you from vibration when driving. Therefore, motorcycle owners are advised to use maximum speed only outside the city with a lack of comfort.

The quite average Chinese suspension in the form of a front telescopic fork and a rear monoshock absorber did not show any special results, everything is standard and at an average level. Before purchasing, it is recommended to mark the main road for further use, because the suspension will be too stiff when driving off-road or on bad roads. If there are frequent potholes, the motorcycle will shake violently and cause discomfort. It is not so difficult to find spare parts for Zongshen 250; the popularity of the model and the versatility of the parts allows you to order parts directly from your country.

If we return to the important advantages of the motorcycle, it is worth buying it at least for the excellent braking system and excellent handling. The front disc brakes have two calipers and the rear has one disc brake. When braking sharply, be extremely careful; standard average quality tires may not withstand slippery roads or asphalt. The ground clearance specified by the manufacturer was 45 cm; the low beam headlights performed the best during the test. On dirt and difficult roads, the light helps illuminate a wide area, so this is an important advantage of such a motorcycle. Among the disadvantages of the design, for some reason the standard rear-view mirrors are very bad and do not show the whole situation. Basically, when examined, you will only be able to see your own shoulders, and not the road situation. Most owners immediately replace their original mirrors with a more convenient analogue.

Another feature of the motorcycle is the presence of an ABS - anti-lock braking system, and a more stylish design is characterized by the presence of alloy wheels and medium plastic. Some may think that for a semi-sports bike there is extremely little plastic and its location is somewhat ugly, but the manufacturer assures that this is one of the differences between the Zongshen ZS250GS motorcycle.

I decided to write a little about my Chinese boy. Zongshen 250 type Sports bike. Why type? Well, how could it be otherwise with a 250cc engine?

Since I travel a lot around Moscow and the region, and have to stand in many kilometers of traffic jams for several hours, I decided to remember that twenty years ago I rode a motorcycle, so I decided to remember my youth and, for starters, get myself a small-displacement motorcycle. I began to choose only from new and not very expensive ones for the type of sport, sport-tourist. BU dismissed the Japanese women immediately. There was no particular desire to take a dead Japanese within a hundred square meters. And the new type Kawasaki Ninja 250 is two and a half times more expensive after a break of twenty years, it was simply a pity.

Since the idea was to take an inexpensive one and for no more than one season (to restore skills), the choice fell on China. I looked through all the sites and reviews. I looked at the photos, then visually, the choice fell on Zongshen 250 in black and gray. Externally, in my opinion, it looks pretty good. No shiny garland chrome. Everything is in dark colors. In general, I liked him more than the others in appearance. The issue price is 95t, plus a seasonal discount (bought in February), a total of 87t rub.

I returned home and leafed through the reviews specifically about Zongshens. Reviews only from Ukrainian sites. There is practically nothing in Russia. Only in Moto review. Based on the reviews, I realized that the motorcycle is not only good in appearance, but also in quality. Many people in Ukraine also drive it on long-distance trips to the sea. But after purchase it is recommended to replace the chain and original rubber.

Now it's time to get food. Many people, when asked about China, foam at the mouth and yell that all the bolts are unscrewed, that if you don’t tighten them, you’ll lose the engine and wheels along the way while you get from the store to the house. I didn’t take any risks and took him home in a motorcycle tow truck (fortunately they charged a thousand rubles for delivery). Armed yourself with keys, sockets, hexagons and go ahead to do the broaching. Not so. I don’t know who’s Chinese have what they need to tighten, but mine was so tight that it would take some effort to unscrew it. I’m lying, I still pulled two bolts one and a half turns. One on the silencer and the second plastic fastener.

Next is a test. Started it up. Adjusted the clutch cable. Somehow I adjusted the mirrors (then I realized that they couldn’t be adjusted) and began to wait for spring.

So, first departure.

The first jamb. The gasoline sensor does not work. Constantly at zero. I scored, I'll have to look in the tank. Moreover, on reserve you can drive about 100 km. In the mirror you can’t see anything else except your shoulders. The tires are completely g..o (front 110 to 17, rear 140 to 17), it looks like rubber to the touch, but feels like plastic on asphalt. First kilometers. I spin no more than 4 tons of revolutions, speed 50-60 (break-in). I ran 300 km in a week, changed the oil in the engine and changed it to a higher viscosity in the front fork. With the original oil it bites a lot when braking. The brakes are great. There are two discs on the front wheel and one on the rear. I also replaced the clutch cable with a high-quality one, otherwise the original one stretches like rubber.

Finally the first thousand has passed, we can increase the speed. The first maintenance, unfortunately for those who criticize China, not a single bolt came loose and nothing broke. Replaced the tires. Directed by Perelli. The price is about eight thousand per set. Replaced the mirrors. 1500 pair. I stuck the clamps in and put the mirrors on the steering wheel. Now everything is visible and everything is under control. Once per thousand km. tightened the chain. On the second thousand I changed it too.

So, the exploitation itself. The skills came on their own. At first I tried to drive between the rows, but after a couple of tens of kilometers this problem went away. I drove a maximum of 100 km. The motorcycle can do a little more. I read somewhere that they accelerated to 150 - I don’t know, maybe it goes, or maybe with a tailwind or from a descent, but I don’t need that... I have a family waiting at home, and then I don’t really want to take risks. Many people in Moscow don’t even know where the turn signal ON is located. Without slowing down, they can suddenly move from the far left lane to the right lane and vice versa. Or they may stupidly turn left and look to the right. Closer to a hundred, a slight vibration begins, but still, despite the balance shaft. Gasoline consumes about 3.5 liters per hundred meters. I fill it with 95.

The chassis is moderately stiff, but I wouldn’t recommend driving it on country roads. I think this motorcycle was designed more for riding on asphalt.

Light. Near - the scan is excellent, contact is made both forward and to the sides, but the brightness of the light is not enough. Precisely brightness. And the distant one hits like a flashlight with a point. I don’t drive much at night, so I didn’t bother, but for those who drive at night, there is only one piece of advice - bi-xenon. The higher power lamp is no longer needed. The reflector melts.

At 10k km I replaced the brake pads. Every 500 km I change the engine oil and have changed the brake fluid once. That's all I've done on it in 14 thousand kilometers. The motorcycle starts, as they say, with half a kick. It gains revolutions and speed for its cubic capacity conscientiously with its technical data.

During the season, the motorized battalion often slowed down. But since I have everything in order, the flag is in their hands. Let them look for the violators. Just while they are checking the documents they will get bored with what and how.

In the end, I want to say that China is not so bad. He completed his assigned task of taking me from point A to point B. And the fact that I wanted to get there faster through traffic jams, I also get there. Now winter has just begun, but I can’t wait for the season to open. You quickly get used to good things. And now you just look at the navigator to see how many kms you still have to crawl through traffic jams and listen to the car radio. Traffic jams.

And in the end I want to say.

I work at SuperMaz, I have a car and a motorcycle, and sometimes I see how car owners treat drivers of two-wheeled vehicles. Many openly despise them and try to create a hindrance.
