Description Honda XL 250 Degree 1991
The description of the Honda XL 250 Degree 1991 motorcycle is in the queue for publication of the article. Announcement: Today, for almost every new motorcycle that comes into being, marketers strive to carve out their own niche. This one is a road sport, this one is a recreational enduro. But what class should we include a motorcycle that has a little bit of everything? A good bike should have a reliable engine, comfortable ergonomics and simple controls.
Despite the fact that good models of motorcycles have a very respectable price, and the season for their use is relatively short, the motorcycle market is developing rapidly. And if you believe the words of dealers, then some models of recently released motorcycles are selling like hot cakes at the beginning of the season, and the models brought to Russia are clearly not enough to fully satisfy consumer demand.
A motorcycle has long ceased to be an alternative to a car, and the times when this equipment was bought only because there was not enough money for a full-fledged car are forgotten. Nowadays, two-wheelers can be called technological marvels in many cases, and their cost can be compared with that of prestigious cars.
Many people have started buying motorcycles for hobby purposes as riding or even collecting them has become a good pastime for many people. Many motorcycles, for example the Honda XL 250 Degree, whose technical characteristics allow the model to be called a prestigious brand, are in demand among both beginners and experienced motorcyclists.
Currently, it is impossible to purchase a new Honda XL 250 Degree motorcycle from the 1991 model year, since their production stopped 25 years ago. At the same time, the Honda XL 250 Degree has excellent technical characteristics, so many people strive to purchase, if not a new, then at least a used version.
Motorcycles with an engine capacity of 249 cc / 15.1 cu-in. see, appeared as a result of long work of inventors who sought to create a model that was not inferior in characteristics to other versions of the motorcycle. In some cases, these models are not only not inferior, but also ahead of other motorcycles, as they have minimal fuel consumption and other excellent parameters.
Honda XL 250 Degree belongs to a common class of motorcycles with an engine capacity of 125 to 250 kb. cmAs a rule, these are light and relatively low-power motorcycles. Here you will get flexible control, easy steering and low weight of the motorcycle. Therefore, such motorcycles are suitable for almost every beginner, regardless of their characteristics. The exception is motorcycles with two-stroke engines of the “sport” and “cross” classes, since bikes of this class are distinguished by more power and an extremely sharp response to the throttle, which also does not make them obedient to control.

IZH Jupiter 5K 01. Tests
Examining Jupiter The magazine has already talked about the new “Jupiter” model “5-01”, which the editors relatively recently received for testing (1988, No. 8). Now, when the motorcycle’s speedometer has more than 10 thousand kilometers, we can say with confidence: the positive impressions left after the first acquaintance are confirmed. The new “Jupiter” is especially pleased with its comfort and high-torque performance. In terms of the first parameter, IL is now in no way inferior to JAVE, we are convinced of this. It has a comfortable wide saddle, a fairly elastic suspension, a high and wide steering wheel is connected to the steering column bridge not rigidly, but through rubber-metal bushings, and therefore vibrations of the chassis are not transmitted to it. We think we need to say a little more about the engine. Last summer, and everyone remembers, of course, that it was unusually hot, we spent our vacation on a motorcycle trip. In our group, in addition to the editorial Jupiter-5K-01, there was another “Jupiter” - four.

Motorcycle engine IZh Planet Sport
Motorcycle engine IZH PS The production of motorcycles with single-cylinder two-stroke engines with a displacement of 300-350 cm3 has a nearly forty-year tradition in Izhevsk. If we trace the pedigree of road models over the past four decades, we will see that the latest design, being to a certain extent a bearer of traditions, embodies many developments first tested on sports cars of the IZH brand. Engine of the IZH-Planet-Sport motorcycle - short-stroke (cylinder diameter - 76 mm, piston stroke - 75 mm, working volume - 340 cm3), with three-channel blowing and gear motor transmission - retained a number of important features common to experimental IZH engines intended for cross-country and all-around racing. In 1961-1967, engines for sports cars IZH-349, IZH-65M, IZH-10M were created in Izhevsk, which, with a working volume of 340 cm3, developed.
Hub repair on Dnepr motorcycles
Repairing the hub Motorcycles from the Kyiv plant use cast aluminum alloy wheel hubs. They are light and comfortable, but the holes for the spokes become elliptical over time, and then you have to tighten the spokes very often so that they do not tear. Motorcyclists who ride a lot on bad roads sometimes even replace all the spokes with a solid disc. This, of course, is not the best solution. I offer owners of Kyiv motorcycles a relatively simple, practice-tested method of hub repair. First, we remove four to six spokes, the sockets for which are subject to repair. Using an 8mm drill (or better yet, a finger end mill), we drill out the damaged holes. We cut a copper tube with an outer diameter of 8 mm and an inner diameter of 6 mm into pieces 12 - 14 mm long. We flare one end of the segments using a mandrel made from at least a beard or center punch. We place the resulting bushings in the holes of the hub and flare their second end, as shown in the figure.

Review: Honda XL250 Degree motorcycle – Quite a rare and interesting device
The motorcycle is almost as legendary as the Honda XR250.
However, now it is difficult to find a degree in a living condition, and there is a problem with spare parts, not like with the xr250. The motorcycle was made in 1993 and was bought at auction in 2013 for 108 thousand rubles. It served me faithfully for 5 years, then I sold it to a good friend of mine for 130 thousand rubles.
I don't know why, but the motorcycle is equipped with a rear drum brake. Compared to its competitors, the degree is more difficult to brake, even if you fully depress the rear brake, the rear wheel does not completely lock. The pads were changed, the service department said that you shouldn’t expect anything more from this brake, so I mainly use only the front brake, since even replacing the pads on the rear wheel is not a pleasant procedure.
A water-cooled engine with something like 25 horsepower. Not enough, but the consumption per hundred is about 2-3 liters of gasoline with moderate driving. Experienced motorcyclists know that the enduros of the 90s are practically eternal. Find now at least one 250 cc motorcycle that will travel 80,000+ km without major repairs. It is for this reason that I took the degree. Ideally, of course, it would have been worth taking the xr250, but at that time there were practically none of them at the auction, or there were some, but they were completely killed.
I really like the look of the motorcycle! Classic enduro style, sometimes it seems like a rarity. I really like the enduro motorcycles of the 90s because of their appearance and durability.
The motorcycle is from 1993, the engine has never been opened, the valves have only been adjusted once, and it still starts well even in winter. After buying the motorcycle, they immediately changed the shock absorber, which they ordered from eBay for 23,000 rubles (original), and the old one was sorted out and is still gathering dust in the garage as a spare.
Driving on asphalt is not at all exciting, since the engine is rather weak. Cruising speed is up to 90 km/h, since driving for a long time at high speeds is harmful. In the forest you feel confident, the motorcycle is light, easy to control, very predictable and not afraid of various puddles, slides and other things.
He proved himself worthy on long journeys. We often traveled 3000 km or more. Driving on asphalt is of course boring and difficult, but driving on sand and dirt roads is excellent. The suspension is very soft, you can hardly feel the bumps, it’s just gorgeous!
