For whom
Here are the main features of the motorcycle:
- this is a suitable option for tourist trips, but not off-road;
- the model is the “successor” of the unsuccessful CBF 500;
- The bike is extremely balanced and moderated to suit many.
Perhaps the most significant feature of this machine is that it will be interesting for both an experienced biker and a beginner. It's all about her calm character. Depending on who is driving it, the motorcycle will behave accordingly.
Review of the Honda CBF 600 motorcycle
An excellent motorcycle for everyday trips around the city and long-distance trips. One of the advantages I saw in my motorcycle was the presence of 3 panniers when fully loaded + the motorcycle passenger behaves confidently and does not feel overloaded. The presence of ABS definitely made me happy when braking on our bad roads, the next bike will be bought only with ABS. The behavior of the motorcycle on the road is confident, the suspension absorbs road unevenness normally, the light is good. The wind protection showed excellent performance when the tuning glass was fully raised. With my height of 186 cm and the saddle raised all the way, the seating position is very comfortable. 300 km with a passenger without stopping is not a problem at all. Acceleration dynamics are good, comparable to the dynamics of a well-tuned 400, but with one body on board, with a pushover, the 400 is immediately inferior, while the SBF pulls confidently throughout the entire rev range, both with two and with one rider. My consumption usually turned out to be 6-6.5 liters. per 100 km. 92 gasoline, 95 engine is certainly faster, but with the free 92, I naturally drove the free one. Of the minuses, the motorcycle wobbles when leaning heavily in turns, which seems to me to be due to the soft fork. The exhaust pipes are located low, I hit them a couple of times when crossing rutted roads and running over little hunchbacked police officers. Well, if this can be called a minus or not, the moto is completely uncontrollable on a dirt road, every weekend I went to the village and there I couldn’t do without falling into the mud))). In terms of starting the engine on cold autumn mornings, +2-3 degrees, it became capricious a couple of times and did not start, the reason is still not clear to me, everything seems to be normal, but something is not to its liking. Well, this is probably just an expression of a request for wintering until the next season.
Motorcycle '04, from England. The holding period is six months. Bought with about 30 thousand mileage. The motorcycle was chosen for tourism. I chose it because it was the only one with three luggage cases included and a central stand. I can’t say anything bad at all; on the contrary, I’m singing an ode! In six months I traveled 11 countries and 20 thousand km. Sometimes for days in the rain or sleet - not a single breakdown!
For tourism, I think it’s an ideal car. In Turkey, gasoline costs 2 euros/liter, I saved as much as I could and reached 4.6 liters/100 km. So, the usual consumption up to speed 120 is 5-5.5 liters. 140-160= 6.5 liters.
It was used quite harshly - I went on a trip on November 1, when snow fell in Moscow, a good half of the adventures took place in near-zero temperatures. At first it started badly in the morning - it turned out that the seller had installed a battery from a scooter. After the replacement, it started up to -5 without problems, but you need to conjure the choke.
When turning, I lie down (again, for a tourist) quite low, my boots are worn out. This is fully loaded: three panniers and an “occupier’s bag” in the back seat, the total weight without me is about 300 kg. Two seating options - up to 100-120 I ride upright, then I move my butt back and lie down on the tank, up to 200 km/h without problems.
After the purchase, I immediately changed all the consumables and did a deep maintenance, so to speak. Not a single breakdown during the entire period of ownership. Comfort, convenience and ergonomics at the highest level. The engine on this model is derated (from the CBR of previous years of production), therefore it is durable and not power-hungry, and the oil level does not drop at all between changes. I got the carburetor version, although from next year there will be an injection version, it would be better.
The heated OXFORD handles are worn out, they break all the time, but they don’t work well with the motorcycle, they were installed as an option by the previous owner. Finally, on the road, I unscrewed it and closed it directly, turning it off by pulling out the fuse. I installed a very useful cigarette lighter, I charge everything in the world.
No special driving skills required. On the first day of purchase (I had not ridden a motorcycle at all before) I drove 300 km, including through a big city in the rain and hail.
It’s impossible to drive without hands, the steering wheel is wobbling, I probably need a damper, but I get by just fine. Willie, stoppie on this motorcycle (they say) is not even worth trying, so I don’t try.
I consider it mandatory to install arches or sliders: when I fell, I broke my leg in two places and other such joys as dislocations of both legs and a cranial injury (a man in Tbilisi stepped under the wheels). The plastic is strong, scratches, but does not break. If the brake/clutch handles and footrests broke in a fall, they are welded with argon.
I think the motorcycle is very beautiful, the appearance is muscular, the sharp muzzle makes it aggressive.
The dynamics are smooth, it’s enough for my eyes, but the transmissions are short. Sometimes you want to leave only the first and sixth. Excellent light. Clear gear shifting (this is a Honda). The seat is comfortable and there is no discomfort in the saddle all day. Purely subjectively, I didn’t like the brakes very much.
On a tank (18 liters) I drive 200 miles before the light turns on. I’m reluctant to go on a country road or into the mountains, you have to understand that the motorcycle is heavy, and if there is no support under your feet and the bike starts to fall, you can’t stop it, this is one and two – low ground clearance.
Cruising speed with load 120-160. You can do more, but I don’t like to strain my attention on the road, I look around. The rear passenger is as comfortable as in a chair. But he sits noticeably higher and gets a lot of wind and bugs on his helmet.
I recommend it with pleasure as the most reliable and very suitable motorcycle for touring for little money.
A motorcycle with a classic seating position is irreplaceable for lovers of motorcycle touring and everyday riding; it is very suitable for beginner motorcyclists!!! The pilot's seat is height adjustable in 3 positions i.e. you can adjust it to your height. The ABS system also works perfectly in accordance with the motorcycle, saving me more than once at high speeds during extreme braking. In general, judge for yourself! I give this motorcycle a solid A!
I admit that initially I wanted a chopper. It was a sin After a detailed study of choppers that fit into my rather modest budget of 4,500 euros, I had to abandon this idea. For the money you had, you could only buy models from around 2000 with huge mileage. Things like ABS and rear disc brakes could be forgotten. All this was only available on brand new choppers in showrooms. But their price was significantly higher than the budget. Therefore, I had to look for something that was affordable.
After reading a huge number of articles, reviews and opinions on the Internet, I settled on Honda. Why on Hondas? Yes, because the number of complaints against motorcycles from this manufacturer was minimal. In addition, I really liked the motorcycles produced by BMW, but their cost, again, did not fit into the available budget.
The CBF 600 perfectly met the above requirements. Light, nimble, calm like a boa constrictor. It won’t become a wheelie, no matter how hard you try. Ergonomics are almost perfect. Adjustable seat height and distance to the steering wheel. After quite a long study of sites selling used motorcycles in Germany, I found an excellent copy made in 2006 with a mileage of only 1,500 km. You only had to go a couple of kilometers to get it, to Düsseldorf-Benrath, which couldn’t help but rejoice. After calling the owners, I found out that they were already on their way from Berlin to pick up the motorcycle. However, the owner said that he didn’t care who he sold to and that if I arrived first, he would sell the Honda to me . The price the seller wanted was significantly lower than the average price for this model on the market. This was due to the fact that the motorcycle belonged to his daughter and he, worried about her, really wanted to get rid of this equipment as quickly as possible. This motorcycle had installed protection bars and a small glass as bonuses. It was clear that many components of the motorcycle still had the factory grease and that it was in perfect condition. In general, I bought it.
During intensive operation, no serious design flaws were identified. Well, except that the Bridgestone tires that Honda equips this model with are simply terrible in the rain. Will soon be replaced by Michelin Pilot Power. In all other respects, it’s just an excellent motorcycle, although experienced bikers run the risk of finding it too “boring.” The more I ride it, the more I like it. I accelerated on it to a maximum of 180 km/h. They say that the CBF 600 easily reaches 210 km/h, but this probably refers to the SA modification (with fairing), since on my NA, due to purely symbolic wind protection and direct landing, the air flow resistance is such that you it simply breaks into pieces already at 180 km/h. You won't last long. Comfortable driving speed on the Honda CBF 600 NA is 110-120 km/h. I really like this fact, as it does not tempt the pilot to “unscrew it all the way.” I don’t want to install additional wind protection, since the CBF600NA with high glass from a tourer does not look very good, to put it mildly. This is not a tourer, no matter how you look at it.
Dimensions and weight
The wheelbase of the car is 1490 mm, and the seat height is 785 mm. The length of the bike reaches 2160 mm, its width is 765 mm, and its height is 1110 mm. The motorcycle weighs about 220 kg, and its tank volume is 20 liters. This is a very decent capacity, taking into account average fuel consumption: 6 liters per hundred km.
Review of Honda CBF 600S (2012)
It was very scary to drive the brand new HondaCBF600 from the showroom to the garage. Before that, I only rode the YBR125 at the motorcycle school site. And here is an “adult” motorcycle! As many as 600 cubes! And 240 kg instead of the more or less usual 106 kg. As they say, feel the difference!
Nevertheless, if I remember the beginning of the journey with wet palms and a characteristic exhaust, then I approached the house quite cheerfully and confidently. This speaks of the thoughtfulness of the motorcycle, its correct weight distribution and balance. You quickly get used to good things!
As for engine power, 76 hp. and the torque of 59 Nm at 8250 rpm does not allow the motorcycle to fall into an unexpected wheelie, but, at the same time, does not make the owner blush, trying to catch up with the trolleybus. The car is quite dynamic. She carried my 125 kg from traffic lights quite quickly. Sportbikes are faster, of course, but I didn’t even have a goal to leave the place for a point on the horizon.
The machine is very maneuverable. It goes through traffic jams like butter. It is convenient to drag from row to row in a standing traffic jam and maneuver in a sluggish traffic jam. It stands confidently on the track. True, I didn’t accelerate beyond 170, but I felt like I could have gone faster. But why? Our roads, despite the taxes we collect, are full of surprises in the form of potholes, sudden repairs that cut a hole in the road surface, and other partisan traps. Sometimes it feels like road services have declared war on Russia. Or maybe they are the Fifth Column? However, I digress...
As for the design, look at the photos. Every man to his own taste. And I’ll tell you about myself that sometimes I specifically went out of the house to admire the beauty. She's just so wonderful! And it shines where it needs to, and it turns red when it’s needed! Everything is carefully done, selected and installed. The eye does not offend, but pleases. The only thing that confuses me is the strange design of the low beam. One of the two possible headlights is shining. At first I thought the light bulb had burned out. I went to the dealer: “Come on, answer me, why are you selling cars with defects?! Where is your respect for the client! I was politely referred to the original sources: “Read the instruction manual. There it is written in plain English in Russian that such a one-eyed low beam design was originally conceived. And what do you want? The Japanese... They have their own way of looking at things....”
In general, the use of the HondaCBF600, although not very long (2500 km in 3 months), left the most positive impressions. A wonderful device for beginners and for sedate people who do not necessarily need to start from a traffic light with slipping. Apparently I’m not like that... Therefore, not without sadness, I changed the CBF600 to CBF1000. Everything is the same, only the engine is much more powerful and responsive.
PS For 2500 km nothing broke or flew off. Nothing at all.
Chassis and brakes
At first, the bike had a steel frame, spatial in its type. However, it was later replaced by a cast aluminum version. The alloy wheels are very elegant, as is the steering wheel. In general, the exterior looks discreet but elegant.
The rear suspension is a pendulum version together with a monoshock absorber, while at the front there is a 41 mm telescopic fork. The rear brake is a 240mm disc with a single-piston caliper. At the front there are two 296 mm discs and two-piston calipers. ABS may be available.
