Do-it-yourself Delta moped tuning at minimal cost

Tuning Moped Delta. Such a request appears quite often in search engines, since there are simply no specific instructions from the manufacturer for tuning this moped. What is the Delta Moped? This is a Chinese (or USSR-made) two-wheeled unit that is not characterized by high build quality and over time requires mandatory tuning.

On the Delta Moped, tuning is recommended to start with the front fork. Over time, owners of this moped begin to notice significant play in the front wheel. This fact can be explained very simply - the reason lies in the plastic bushings that Chinese assemblers carelessly installed on the moped. It is these elements that need to be immediately replaced with other, suitable-sized bushings made of metal.

If you are planning to tune a Delta moped, then you need to do everything to the end. Therefore, the next step is to fill the void of the fork with transmission oil, which has a high viscosity. This oil should also fill the void of the rubbing pair. To prevent oil leakage, it is advisable to install rubber covers on the lower part of the front fork. This manipulation will also prevent dust from entering.

Some extreme motorcyclists, in order to increase the power of a moped engine, resort to the unsafe method of drilling out the “original” jets. In some cases, such risks are ultimately justified, but in most cases such changes lead to engine failure within the first kilometers of the road. To enhance engine power, you can select larger diameter jets from other mopeds. This way, if the experiment fails, it will be possible to put everything back in place. It would be a good idea to install several sprockets with a higher gear ratio, which will increase the ability of the moped to overcome steep climbs. The engine of the Delta moped breaks down very often, so the best way to prevent such breakdowns is to replace the original “engine” with the engine from the “Karpaty” moped, which differs significantly in its technical characteristics.

Tuning a moped is not only about improving the technical equipment. characteristics. As for appearance, you won't recognize your moped if you install a windshield on it and raise the front fender a little. With these changes, your moped will look like dirt bikes. The moped will be given a little aggressiveness by replacing the fuel tank with an Alfovsky one, installing a modern chrome muffler and painting the moped in a bright color with airbrushing. For convenience, you can remove the passenger seat, which will provide additional space for luggage.

In an attempt to do something new and special, motorcycle owners resort to tuning their two-wheeled friend. Often the appearance of the bike is simply boring, and the engine power is no longer enough. That is why such a thing as tuning was invented. By improving your motorcycle, you may end up with a completely different bike that will delight not only you, but also those around you. In addition, when upgrading a motorcycle, you can pay great attention to detail and modify the bike so that it is more comfortable to sit and move around. In general, tuning a moped is a purely individual thing, but motorcyclists sometimes lack inspiration to come up with a new look for their bike. That’s why in this article we will look at tuning an alpha moped.

Delta characteristics

To begin with, it’s worth saying a little about the characteristics of the moped, the time of its appearance and its intended purpose. Delta appeared on our market only 10 years ago. The Chinese miracle quickly gained recognition among wide sections of the population. This happened thanks to the price-quality ratio, however, like other factory goods from the Middle Kingdom.

At the start of sales, the price of delta was 2-3 thousand rubles. But the characteristics for such a price were amazing. The moped accelerated to 60-70 km/h, consumed 1.5 liters per hundred km and had a load capacity of 120 kg, although it weighed 2 times less.

There were, and are, a couple of shortcomings inherent in this model, and tuning of the delta moped began with them.

Delta tuning

The first reason for tuning is poor assembly of parts.
Of course, the materials themselves do not cause any complaints, but the assembly, tightening of bolts and gaskets leave much to be desired. Therefore, before starting operation, you need to spend a little time checking the fasteners and possibly replacing them. A similar action is performed with gaskets. It’s difficult to call this a full-fledged tuning, but it’s still an improvement of the moped. The second most common tuning item is increasing the fuel tank. This action can already be called a full-fledged delta upgrade. Since the moped is designed for 2 passengers of average build or a driver with a load, a basket for things is installed on the frame in front of the seat. Behind the driver's seat is the passenger's seat.

There are 2 options for changing the moped, each of which will be considered:

  1. The basket is removed from the frame and an enlarged tank is attached in its place. A standard tank is enough for a little over 200 km. However, an additional mounted tank solves this problem. In this case, the passenger seat remains. Thus, the delta can only transport people.
  2. The second option is similar to the first. The tank is attached in the same way, but the passenger seat is removed and a net for things is put in its place. It turns out to be a convenient vehicle for one person with the ability to transport small loads.

These changes are not complicated. Anyone can do such tuning of a delta moped with their own hands. But there are also more complex options for changing the technical and visual characteristics of a two-wheeled horse, allowing you to discover new sides in it.

About adjusting the ignition of a 4t scooter

Knowing how to set up the ignition of a 4T scooter on your own, you can save time and money, since you will not need to contact a motorcycle repair shop. The procedure is simple, even if you have no experience it takes a little time, but you will need to be patient. Regardless of the type of ignition, an important role is played by how the marks are set.

Correct adjustment is a guarantee of stable and smooth engine operation even in cold weather conditions. Often, in used vehicles, the ignition is broken: this can happen for various reasons, ranging from elementary shaking when driving to improper handling of the equipment. In order for the scooter not to let you down and for you to be able to start it whenever you want, you will need to learn how to carry out this procedure yourself. To do this, you will need to have several keys that allow you to remove the valve cover if the engine is four-stroke.

Setting up the Vision scooter ignition system

If the ignition is knocked out, this may be the reason the scooter does not work. Restoring it is not difficult if you understand how it is done.

You need to start adjusting by setting the timing belt in the desired position. As a rule, there are marks on it for this purpose; they are set at the factory. The cylinder must be installed at dead center. The mark may be indicated by the letter T or another symbol. Now make sure that the mark installed on the rotor matches the mark found on the magneto. To do this, you need to gently press the kickstarter. The rotor can also be turned using your hands, but this is more difficult.

There are also marks on the timing star in the form of holes or dots; they must be set so that the largest hole is on top and located exactly in the center. The remaining points should be below and located horizontally opposite each other. Setting the ignition advance makes sense if you want to increase the engine's power a little and make it start easily. The adjustment will help make the spark plug produce a spark earlier than the standard time. That is, a spark will appear even before the piston reaches the dead center. In cold weather, a moped configured in this way will start better.

In order to configure the scooter in this way, you will need to repeat the procedure described above. However, there is a difference: the marks should not coincide clearly, and not reach each other by about 0.5 cm. The main difficulty lies in connecting the marks.

Delta moped tuning

To begin with, it is worth mentioning that more global changes are divided into two categories:

  • Internal changes
  • External changes

According to the name, tuning is divided into changes in technical and external characteristics.

It is worth starting with the first, since these changes are more important, one might say leading. Without them, you won’t be able to achieve anything worthwhile and truly new from the delta moped.

Since the maximum speed of a moped is 60-70 km/h, upgrading the engine and carburetor is very popular. There is an increase in traction, an increase in the amount of incoming fuel and, as a result, an increase in speed. It is worth immediately noting that such tuning of the delta will increase the amount of fuel consumed by 100 km. Therefore, increasing the tank volume will become very important when upgrading the engine and intake system.

The engine's jets and diffusers are bored out to allow more fuel to flow. It is recommended to replace the filter with a foam rubber one, this will increase air throughput and reduce friction. After the engine, the carburetor also changes, having a greater throughput. Essentially, it is bored out for a modified engine. To get a good result, flanges are taken from the old carburetor and aluminum tubes are bored. It is important to fit everything “to size” and cold weld it to avoid distortions. It is advisable to do without gaps, but if there are any, you can use epoxy resin.

External tuning of a delta moped involves changing its appearance. Today on the parts and spare parts market you can find a lot of plastic linings and body kits for your horse. However, the most common type of tuning is raising the shock absorbers in order to give the moped a sporty look. Adjustable parts can also be installed. Replacing tires with sports ones will give the delta an aggressive look.

Tuning a delta moped is an individual solution for each owner. If when boring the engine there are certain norms and rules under which the moped will show the maximum of its capabilities, then external tuning is limited only by imagination. In modern conditions of public availability of parts, you can turn a delta into a bike, sports motorcycle or an individual idea of the author.

Other options

In addition to the above method, you can increase the performance of a moped such as its power and speed using other tricks. For example, you can increase the power of your scooter by replacing the muffler, replacing it with a compatible resonant pipe, and tuning the transmission.

You can also choose a sports variator for your scooter and install a reinforced belt.

If you don't know how to further increase the power of your moped, try replacing the standard exhaust pipe with a sports one. With its help, you will increase the power of the scooter by up to 15%, increasing the maximum speed. Finally, replace regular brakes with disc brakes, standard brake pads with sports brake pads, and select brake hoses with reinforcement.

After all the work involved in trying to increase the speed and power of the scooter, do not forget about your safety and the safety of other road users. If you doubt the correctness of your modifications to the moped, contact the service, where they will give you practical advice or carry out a set of improvements yourself. Remember that your life may depend on the quality of work to increase the power and speed of equipment.

Moped Delta tuning

If you have a Delta moped and you always keep it in good condition, then sooner or later you will want its engine to deliver maximum power, and its appearance to be more modern and set it apart from the usual “production” model range. Unfortunately, many Delta models have one characteristic “disease” - a slight play on the front wheel.

Over time, this can lead to serious degradation, so it is recommended to start any tuning of the Delta moped with modifications to the front fork. If you disassemble the wheel mount, you can easily find the cause of the play - plastic bushings.

Appearance

And if tuning a moped with an engine may seem too boring, then by transforming the appearance of the “Alpha”, everything becomes much more interesting. In fact, if you are going to make a really decent tuning, then you cannot do without imagination. It is important to imagine the future appearance of the moped - what colors it will be decorated in, what character it will have, aggressive or classic. Make a few sketches, and then you will get a more interesting result. We will tell you what can be added and modified.

Chinese mopeds

Single platform models

Today's realities are such that you can no longer see domestic models on public roads.

Times are changing, and the weakened banner of freedom from the hands of the domestic “Carpathians” and “Verkhovyna” was picked up by Chinese mopeds of the following series:

Let us state a fact: products from China have become widespread in the domestic motorcycle market.

  • Alpha;
  • Delta (DELTA);
  • Dino;
  • Irbis;
  • Viper (VIPER);
  • Zip Star;
  • Leader;
  • Mustang;
  • Breeze;
  • Dingo;

and other similar models, equipped with everything necessary for travel. These are all Delta “co-platforms” produced by the Chinese manufacturer Chongqing Wonjan motorcycle and the companies that bought a license from it.

For reference: It should be noted that Chinese technology has significantly displaced the products of domestic motorcycle manufacturers on the Russian market. This is noticeable not only in the form of finished products, but also in all kinds of components. For example, the Kovrov Motor Plant abandoned its own production of power units and installed the Lifan engine on its models.

Similarity of design

It is noteworthy that the electrical wiring of the Delta moped is similar to other models, which facilitates maintenance and increases the popularity of the vehicles.

Although seemingly complex at first glance, the electrical connection diagram is quite traditional.

Note! The photo above shows the wiring diagram for a Delta moped that does not have a tachometer on the instrument panel. It is identical for all models of this manufacturer, and differs only in the control of the semi-automatic transmission (Delta Racer model).

The video in this article will provide information regarding maintenance of similar models. For products with an instrument panel containing a tachometer, we publish part of the diagram, which also has differences in the controls. In this case, the wiring for the Delta moped is supplemented with several elements for connection.

The photo shows part of the electrical circuit of the Delta model with a tachometer

How to change gears on a motorcycle correctly

All movements you make with the pedals must be smooth so as not to damage the transmission.

When changing gears, change one speed at a time. It is not advisable to jump.

To understand how to change gears on a motorcycle, you need to carefully study the controls. There are motorcycles with manual transmission and semi-automatic.

Method one

Motorcycles with manual transmission. All actions in this case occur in the following sequence. Pick up speed. Take off the gas. Engage the clutch. Press the gear shift pedal. Release the clutch, then the shift pedal and add gas.

To start the motorcycle, place it in neutral. After this, remove the gas and squeeze the clutch, at the same time turning on first gear. Taking your foot off the gear pedal, apply gas and release the clutch. Now add gas.

To upshift, you need to lift the gas, engage the clutch and press the gearshift pedal. After this, release the clutch, release the shift pedal and add gas.

To downshift, you need to remove the gas and engage the clutch. After this, sharply add gas, and when the speed begins to drop, press the gearshift pedal. Release the clutch and shift pedal and add gas. Once the motorcycle has stopped, be sure to put it in neutral.

Method two

Motorcycles with semi-automatic transmission. On these motorcycles, gear shifting is easier. Take off the gas and change gears. The clutch and gearbox are connected here.

Before starting the engine, place your bike in neutral. In order to engage first gear, you need to remove the gas and press the gear lever down. To increase the gear, you need to remove the gas and lift the gear lever up. To downshift, on the contrary, you need to apply gas and immediately remove your hand from the gas. When the speed starts to drop, change the speed and add gas. Now you know how to change gears on a motorcycle.

Delta moped - review, repair, tuning

To begin with, it should be noted that in this review we will look at two completely different mopeds, called Delta. The Delta moped is produced in China, but you may remember that the Delta moped was also produced in the Soviet Union, and it was a competitor to such mopeds as “Karpaty”, “Riga”, “Verkhovyna”. Many of us still have it in the garage, and it’s even usable. I note that this moped has absolutely nothing to do with modern Chinese-made models. And we will also look at the main differences.

First, let's test the first option, and then the new four-stroke Delta moped made in China. So, here it is, the pride of Soviet youth and one of the most popular mopeds of former socialism, the Delta moped made in the USSR:

At that time he had no competitors from China, and no one thought about the choice.

Original homemade passenger backrest

In the village, he was an indispensable assistant and a kind of designer, because he broke down more often than he drove, and the developers are to blame for this, of course. But skillful hands always found a way out.

As additional styling on the delta moped, a windshield, arches, wind protection and simply a headlight frame were often used.

What is interesting to the consumer

Why are city residents interested in the Delta?

The popularity of this model should be sought in the technical characteristics of the vehicle:

  • Electric starter;
  • More than moderate appetite - 2.5 l/100 km;
  • Four-speed semi-automatic (for Delta Racer model);
  • Load capacity 100 kg;
  • Easy to maintain with your own hands;
  • More than reasonable price for the model itself and spare parts.

Features of electrical equipment

The wiring to the Delta and all electrical equipment is quite traditional.

  • generator with flywheel;
  • electric starter (with relay);
  • ignition coils;
  • electronic voltage relay;
  • spark plug;
  • battery;
  • electronic switch;
  • ignition switch;
  • turn relay.

This list is quite understandable to most motorists who have experience in servicing domestic equipment. Moreover, the wiring of the Delta moped is traditional - 12-volt, with a minus to ground.

Generator

Owners of 50cc who are familiar with the design of the scooter will immediately understand the purpose of this device. It produces an alternating electric current that powers the moped when the engine is running. But the second main task is to charge the battery while working. That is, the battery ensures the operation of the devices when the engine is turned off, and then the generator takes on this task.

The connection is made according to the following principle. There are several wires coming from the generator. The negative tire is attached to the frame of the scooter. There is alternating voltage on the white wire, which is immediately sent for rectification and stabilization.

In the electrical circuit, the yellow wire powers the low and high beam lights. Additionally, a Hall sensor is located in the generator housing. Its task is to generate impulses to control sparking. It is not electrically connected to the generator; it is connected to a white-green and red-black wire. The sensor is connected to the CDI block.

Tuning the Alpha moped

Alpha is one of the most popular mopeds in the post-Soviet space.
If you believe the forums, then this moped is simply the limit of perfection, speed, reliability and style. And... it's all true. But with just one addition - “in its price category.” And this price category, in addition to the Alpha itself, includes its relative Delta and several Chinese scooters, which do not at all honor Russia’s eastern neighbor. If you look at the Alpha without the low price tag, it will immediately become clear that the moped is average at best. There really is reliability, but not the best metal and not very good balancing make the Alpha no longer so attractive. The power with the standard engine is terribly lacking. As for the style, there is nothing special in front of us - an ordinary moped, of which there are thousands. Is it possible that the parts fit together better? But real pros know that the Alfa is not a moped. “Alpha” is a base for a moped, and an excellent base. This article will tell you exactly how to make tuning of an Alpha moped with your own hands and what it can be turned into.

Muffler for homemade walk-behind tractor

Muffler drawing

1 — outlet pipe (from the Minsk motorcycle);

2 — bracket (St3, strip with a section of 20×5);

3 — flange (Steel 25);

4 — fasteners (M4 screw, 6 pcs.);

5 — body (from the Minsk motorcycle);

6 — gas passage pipe (a piece of pipe from the Ural bicycle frame) with 4 gas passages and 4 mounting holes;

7 - plug (Steel 25).

The muffler for the homemade walk-behind tractor based on the Minsk motorcycle was also made by hand. The body was the pipe of a standard muffler. The rolled end of this pipe was straightened using a piece of pipe used as a template. Also, to reduce noise pollution, an insert with an outlet tube was used, made by hand. Screws marked M 4 were used as fasteners.

The driver's former right footrest served well to support the outlet pipe. To do this, a bracket was attached to this step by welding, and a hole with a diameter of eight millimeters was drilled in it. The dimensions of the bracket and its location in relation to the outlet pipe were adjusted to the location.

What does the market offer?

Having wandered a little around motorcycle stores, you can find zero-resistance filters that have become popular recently. Such a small trinket also adds some zest to the alpha moped. In addition to appearance, it also improves the technical parameters of the engine. If you install such a filter on an alpha moped, the engine will receive more air, which means it breathes better. This gives some power gain, but you probably won't notice it.

Complete repainting will help to radically update and make high-quality tuning of the alpha moped. In the case of the Alpha, we have chrome fenders, a trunk, a steering wheel and some other elements that make no sense to repaint. The only color that would look good when repainting these elements is matte black or, in general, pasting with liquid rubber. By choosing a good color scheme, you can improve the appearance of the moped for the better.

A moped is a convenient means of transportation. It consumes little fuel, is easy to maintain and does not take up much space. A prominent representative of this type of transport is the delta moped. However, only delta tuning gives it a unique look and great power.

Tuning of the engine and other internal components.

Despite the fact that a moped is also an accessory, first and foremost it is a means of transport. Therefore, we will start with tuning the insides of the “iron horse”. In addition, there are only two ways to increase its power.

Of course, the speed, acceleration and dynamics of a moped are most influenced by engine size, but many people forget that displacement can be handled in different ways.

By replacing the switch on a moped, you can get a 20% gain in dynamic acceleration only due to the fact that gasoline will not be ignited at the same time, but depending on the situation.

The picture is somewhat spoiled by the fact that there are no sports switches capable of this on the Alpha, and it is necessary to attach variations for Chinese-made four-stroke scooters, which by some miracle fit the classic Alpha engine. The connection diagram for such a switch looks like this:

If the gain in acceleration after replacing the commutator does not suit you, and you want to significantly increase the maximum speed, then sooner or later you will come to the idea of replacing the piston group and increasing the engine displacement.

This will increase the power of your motorcycle (it will be difficult to call it a moped) by almost one and a half times, and at the same time it will help get rid of low-quality standard pistons. With the starting volume of the Alpha engine being 50 cubic centimeters, it is possible to rise to 70, 72, 100, or even 110 cm3.

We recommend the second and fourth options - the 72 cc cylinder is much easier to install, and the 110 cc engine, although installed only after it is completely disassembled, will allow you to drive at full speed.

The cylinders will fit from the “Delta” or “Active”, but keep in mind that with such a replacement you will not get away with just one cylinder - you will also have to change the crankshaft, timing chain, rollers, oil seals and, possibly, the carburetor.

All minor details are quite suitable from Aktiva. If you have an Alpha GT, only the cylinder and timing chain will have to be changed; the rest of the parts on this model are quite suitable for the new cylinders.

Relay regulator

This is the same rectifier that converts alternating voltage to direct voltage, with a range of 13.5-14.9 V. C

.

The regulator is located under the plastic cover of the scooter at the front. It is attached to a metal backing for better heat dissipation.

The main circuits of the relay circuit are:

  1. The green wire is common.
  2. Red – output of converted and stabilized voltage within the established limits.
  3. White and yellow – AC input to the regulator. Due to electronics, the voltage is converted into powerful impulses. The yellow wire supplies power to a heavy load on the on-board network - headlights and instrument panel lighting.

The current for lamps is not stabilized, but is limited to acceptable values. At high generator speeds, the voltage goes beyond the operating ranges of the lamps, which leads to their burnout. The situation is very familiar to those who have encountered faulty relay regulators.

Because of one unit, you can lose all the light bulbs in a matter of seconds, so you should monitor the on-board voltage regularly.

Body tuning

Remember - tuning (adjustment) is not “styling” (decoration). We'll talk about styling separately later. And now we are discussing tuning, the purpose of which is to make the Alpha faster, more maneuverable and more stable.

Among other things, a distinctive feature of the Alpha is the protective panels designed to protect the rider’s legs from breaking in the event of a fall or collision.

The goal is noble, but you can’t look at the shields themselves without tears, and they are poorly located. So we remove them completely and get about a kilogram of relief, or we change them to more powerful ones, in order to definitely save our mortal body in an accident. The second option is preferable - the shields also cover the engine, which suffers the most in an accident.

Replacing discs or wheels with a fork. The Alpha's standard wheels are quite decent, so replacing them will have purely decorative meaning.

The choice of disks of this form factor is huge, and, if desired, you can change the wheel altogether. True, the fork may not withstand boring and also require replacement, but nothing more.

By the way, replacing the wheels with wider ones is an excellent opportunity to increase the stability of the moped, which leaves much to be desired at high speeds. Especially if you have installed a 110 cc engine cylinder.

A very useful thing, in fact. It is often installed with a partial replacement of the “face” of the moped, but it allows you to ride comfortably in an open helmet, and you don’t feel the wind so much.

Conclusion

Don't be afraid of the ignition system. It’s easy to set up, the main thing is to check the entire circuit; much more often the switch fails, there is no gasoline or the spark plug needs to be replaced. Only after making sure that there are no physical malfunctions should you start setting up the ignition. If it is set correctly, you will hear and notice, as the engine will start easily and run smoothly.

The stability and reliability of starting the engine of an Alpha moped depends on several factors, including correctly configured ignition. The absence of problems due to an incorrectly configured unit guarantees ease of driving the vehicle at any time of the year - it will start at every kickstart without any extra effort. You will need to adjust the ignition only if the moped was purchased very cheaply and needs to be restored to working condition.

The electrical equipment system (and, accordingly, spark supply) consists of the following elements:

  • power supply;
  • additional devices;
  • other nodes that consume energy.

According to statements, there is no need to adjust the ignition after purchasing a new vehicle, but in reality everything is somewhat different - the conditions of transportation and storage impose their own problems. Most likely, you will have to eliminate the consequences of incorrect ignition settings - in Alpha vehicles it is set on the principle of too much advance. In addition, disassembling the engine inevitably entails the need to adjust the ignition without fail.

You just need to follow the instructions for disassembling and reassembling the moped to achieve an optimal result that will last until the next time the engine is dismantled for maintenance or replacement. Uncertain operation of the engine while driving causes not only discomfort, but also troubles in the form of an increased accident risk on a busy highway, where a sudden stop is extremely dangerous.

Moped styling

This is where you can have a blast. Professionals in this direction turn mopeds into a wide variety of works of art, but for starters it’s worth limiting yourself to the following:

Everything is simple here - LED strips are fixed under the wings of the moped and when voltage is applied they begin to glow. Looks best on dark mopeds.

If you know an electronics engineer, you can make a control unit for this tape with a primitive processor, which will allow you to adjust the color, brightness and flickering speed of the diodes. By the way, if you have not removed the protective panels, you can also place tape on them - this will make you more visible at night and show the dimensions of the moped to oncoming traffic.

Standard Alpha optics... let's just say it's good that it exists at all. Of course, in comparison with Chinese scooters it is good, but when you see something really powerful, it is simply impossible to praise it. Therefore, if you wish, you can replace the central light and turn signals with more powerful and/or beautiful ones. We do not recommend installing xenon headlights - they are not particularly convenient for a moped, and they tend to blind other drivers.

Actually, there is nothing special here - mopeds, scooters and motorcycles began to be painted using this technology even earlier than cars. So just pick a great sketch and contact a good airbrush artist.

You can even continue working on the body - replace or remove the trunk, change the fenders to lightweight ones, etc. but this is a matter of taste and remains entirely on your conscience.

That's all. Of course, we didn’t make Kawasaki out of Alfa, but that wasn’t our task either. But the resulting moped is quite worthy of its price and the effort spent on tuning it.

In the end, the tuned Alfa is a great first moped and is perfect for both beginners and professionals who decide to switch to something easier.

Photo report: Assembly of the gearbox (box) of the “Ant” scooter

After completely disassembling the engine of the Ant scooter, many, especially beginners, have difficulty reassembling the gearbox, and this is not surprising. There is very little reference information, there are too many “ant” experts, the matter is further complicated by the fact that there are no marks on the gearbox parts that greatly simplify the work on the correct orientation of the gearbox parts relative to each other.

In fact, everything is not as complicated as it might seem at first glance...

The gearbox, after disassembling the engine and troubleshooting the parts, turned out to be in very good condition; only one gear of the first gear had to be replaced (extreme wear of the bushing and, as a consequence, increased backlash of the gear on the shaft) and all the bearings (due to severe wear). All other gearbox parts were checked for wear and so on without any problems. Complete disassembly of the “ant” engine is described in detail in the article: Photo report: Disassembling the engine of the “Ant” scooter

Before assembling the gearbox, we carefully wash all the parts from dirt, pay special attention to the engine crankcase and the condition of the threaded connections, buy a new set of oil seals and gaskets (preferably made of paronite). The general principles of engine crankcase repair are described in detail in the article: Photo report: Repairing a scooter engine crankcase

And so, the right half of the crankcase is completely washed, laid on wooden blocks and is completely ready for the introduction of our gearbox into it.

We insert the retaining ring into the mounting hole of the secondary shaft bearing.

Using a mandrel, install the bearings into their mounting holes. Don't forget to place a special washer under the input shaft bearing.

We check the performance of the copier, for this: we press on it with a screwdriver or a finger and release it - several times, there should be no jamming or excessive play in its operation, the working surface should be strictly in the form of a cone (not “slicked”).

We carefully inspect the teeth of the “pawl” of the gear shift mechanism; there should be no cracks, chips, or wear. The teeth should be sharp (not “slick”).
