The Polaris Sportsman Touring 570 ATV is a utilitarian model that can be used for any fishing and hunting trips, as well as for outdoor activities and off-road driving. The distinctive features of this ATV from many similar models are a high level of safety for the driver and passenger, increased cross-country ability, improved handling, as well as a high level of reliability.
It should be noted that in 2014 the manufacturer carried out a fairly thorough modernization of this model. The existing shortcomings have been almost completely corrected. Initially, the equipment was equipped with a power unit with a displacement of 500 cubic meters, however, after modernization, engines with a displacement of 567 cubic meters appeared in the line. The fuel system was also changed; instead of a carburetor, the engine received an injector, which had a positive effect on increasing power and reducing fuel consumption.
The new engine, with its displacement, is capable of developing a rated output power of 44 horsepower or 32.4 kilowatts. Traditionally, for such equipment, the power plant can be started in two ways: using an electric starter or using a manual one. In addition to engine consumption, the duration of trips is also ensured by a fairly large fuel tank, with a calculated volume of 17 liters.
The ATV is equipped with a comfortable double seat. The equipment has average overall dimensions, namely the length of the model is 2184 millimeters, and the height and width are equal to 1219 millimeters. The length of the wheelbase is 1422 millimeters. Polaris Sportsman Touring 570 has a fairly modern and stylish design, which seems to emphasize its character. The case is made very ergonomically and has increased impact resistance. All this together makes this ATV stand out from many models, both from this manufacturer and from others.

“Looking around, I begin to realize that the future described by science fiction writers of the last century has almost arrived. We are, of course, still a long way from the colonization of Mars and flying cars, but the avalanche-like development of advanced scientific and information technologies sometimes makes us want, just in case, to enroll in the ranks of potential fighters against the insidious computer misanthrope called Skynet...

Market
Today, portable game consoles are faster than NASA computers from the time of the first moon landing, electric and hybrid cars are now available for sale, and Elvis has been dead for 37 long years. And in Russia, large and powerful cars, equipped with voracious, large-volume gasoline engines, are still just as popular. And it seems that the dashing 90s predetermined the popularity of this fashion for many, many years to come...
Nowadays, in addition to a monstrous SUV, the mandatory kit of a successful and wealthy person now includes a cubic-sized and powerful branded ATV, which amazes the owner with exorbitant performance characteristics, which he, as a rule, does not fully use during country “rides”.
But medium-sized quad equipment, despite its demand, until recently remained in the shadow of its more popular and powerful counterparts. The market niche of these workhorses was tightly occupied by numerous and varied, like dialects of the Chinese language, ATVs from the Middle Kingdom. No, of course, such machines were present in full in the model ranges of the main manufacturers, but, as a rule, they were designed and produced according to the residual principle.
That is, the equipment started up, drove, but did not at all impress potential owners with either its appearance or performance characteristics. However, the protracted global financial crisis and the total rise in price of hydrocarbon fuels have led to the fact that the leaders of the ATV market have seriously taken up the development of new medium-sized models.
And today, on these inexpensive and functional machines, you can find almost all the achievements of the most progressive engineering technology, and for quite reasonable money. The price for Asian equipment with an engine capacity of about 600 cc. cm is traditionally in the range of 250,000–350,000 rubles.
In this case, as a rule, you buy the most ordinary Chinese ATV in a bright flashy “wrapper” with suspensions of the same Chinese quality, powered by a low-power copy of a ten-year-old brand engine. But in the last few years, cars from famous manufacturers have begun to appear on the market, which, despite their undoubted technical advantages, are sold at a price of just over 400,000 rubles. Which brings them somewhat closer to the budget ATV segment from Central and Southeast Asia.
Reviews
- We purchased the quadric in the winter because we luckily came across a copy in good condition and at a fairly attractive price. Of course, the car required some investments, but not significant ones. I basically replaced all the fluids and some bearings. On the move the model is quite excellent. There seems to be no area where this ATV can't go. I have a version without power steering, however, its absence does not affect comfort in any way. Everything is quite convenient. The consumption is really not very high, the maneuverability is very good, and the seating position is comfortable.
- I really liked the Polaris 570. I purchased it back in 2021 and am still happy with the purchase. During the entire period of operation, all sorts of malfunctions arose, but this is typical of any other equipment. The ATV did not cause any special expenses, and on the contrary, it is a little more economical. The characteristics are quite satisfactory, at least for my needs, namely for fishing trips and driving through the forest. Overall a very good model.
Go
Our guest today is a relatively inexpensive medium-sized ATV Polaris Sportsman Touring 570, a full-fledged two-seater all-wheel drive vehicle costing only about 442,000 rubles. Until the recently presented “people’s” Can-Am Outlander L appeared on the market, this is a price record among the “big four” major ATV manufacturers!
Of course, classmates represented by CF-Moto, Stels and Baltmotors are much cheaper, but still this equipment is of a slightly different quality level. Despite the craze for V-shaped engines in utilitarian vehicles, the “American” is driven by a 570 cm3 1-cylinder 4-stroke engine, equipped with a fuel injection system and producing an honest 44 hp. With.
This power plant, in one variation or another, is installed on a whole range of Polaris equipment - from the purely utilitarian SSV Ranger series to the near-sports “side” RZR. It is coupled with a CVT transmission with an On-Demand True AWD automatic all-wheel drive system with automatic front axle locking.
It should be noted that the engine does not impress with its power characteristics, but it is the 1-cylinder design that makes this drawback not so significant. In the lower and middle speed ranges, there is enough “fat” for both assault on average off-road conditions and for quite dynamic maneuvers with a weighty passenger in the back seat. The suspensions are also “tailored” for maximum comfort of the driver and the “second number”.
There are MacPherson struts with 228 mm of travel at the front, and traditional A-arms with shock absorbers with 241 mm of travel at the rear. Despite these, in general, modest indicators, their energy intensity was enough for me even for a little hooliganism on the cross-country track. So, rest assured, the chassis of the device will definitely not let you down in real use!
The ground clearance of the Sportsman 570 is only 279 mm, but for its scope of application this is quite enough. In terms of ergonomics, I didn’t notice any revolutionary solutions, but for such a machine this is not necessary. The main thing is that it is simply very comfortable to sit, carry a passenger, cargo and control the ATV. All controls are in their intuitive places and do not require any getting used to. And the high steering wheel allows you to comfortably drive the car both sitting and standing.
If you carefully read the technical description, you may get the impression that the ATV is very banal and simple. And, perhaps, this is... the absolute truth! The device is very unpretentious and does not have any outstanding characteristics or distinctive features. And this is its main attractive force. A very reliable and unpretentious “single-barreled gun” travels regardless of the number of riders and the permitted amount of cargo in the luggage areas.
Yes, in the upper range the engine “deflates” and does not want to work at all! But for a work or touring ATV this is not necessary. Much more valuable is that starting from a standstill and accelerating to a certain speed occurs dynamically and quite assertively. The engine does not frighten the driver with uncontrolled “pick-ups” and sudden, unpredictable accelerations. So, despite some annoying vibrations, the Sportsman 570 is a pleasure to ride along forested country paths or fields.
Simple and simple suspensions work out all the irregularities very well and do not exhaust the rider and passenger at any speed. I would even say that, despite their traditional design, they are not much inferior to the advertised suspension of the new Outlander on the G2 platform, the test drive of which took place just a few days ago. And, frankly, despite all the delights of the new BRP car, the “small” Sportsman looked quite decent compared to the new product. But, perhaps, this is a topic for a separate comparative material.
Repair Polaris Sportsman 570 Touring
- I had the front and rear shock absorbers repaired. In fact, they are non-separable and if they don’t work well, they are simply replaced with new ones. They are expensive. Therefore, I decided to make them dismountable, like on a motorcycle, for seasonal maintenance.
The shock absorber specialist additionally installed caprolon scrapers in the covers so that the seals were less clogged with dirt.
The struts were pumped with special oil for shock absorbers of motocross motorcycles.
The repair cost 10 thousand rubles. - Replaced the rear bearings with new Japanese NSK ones (2 pieces for 1300 rubles). And the original is three times more expensive.
- I also replaced the front bearings with Japanese NTN ones (2 pieces for 1300 rubles each).
- I changed the light bulbs in the rear dimensions (2 pieces for 150 rubles).
- I bought original Polaris oils: for the front gearbox 1 liter – 2650 RUR. (a liter is enough for three replacements) and for the rear gearbox 1 liter - 2300 rubles. (liter per replacement).
- I changed the bushings and axles on the front and rear arms. Cost 6 thousand rubles.
- I changed the rear hub mounting bushings - 4 tr.
- Replaced the front ball joints - RUR 3,600. and one steering tip - 1,600 rubles.
Repairs and maintenance cost approximately 36 thousand rubles.
Plus, I also bought a special tool: a torch and a gas cylinder, pliers for removing retaining rings, and for injecting the cardan, I bought lubricant at the Polaris store for 600 rubles. and a non-original special syringe 1000 RUR. (the original one costs 4,500 rubles), a German long elastic tube tip costs 1,200 rubles. Total 4 tr.
All together with spare parts and labor 40 tr.
As a result, the Polaris 570 touring ATV cost me about 400 rubles.
I got the quad in perfect order, and now you can drive.
Sentence
Overall, this is a very decent and unpretentious ATV. Country trips without unnecessary problems, hunting, fishing, tourism, in the end - the Sportsman 570 will fit in everywhere. There is no exoticism and sometimes completely unnecessary revolutionaryness, so inherent, for example, in the BRP technique. And at the same time, it looks good and is well assembled, unlike many other colleagues in the shop.
A simple, reliable, economical and, most importantly, inexpensive car for every day. Without false pathos and snobbery! And in the new 2015, the 570th will receive an update: the ATV will be equipped with electric power steering, the volume of the gas tank will be increased and a few more minor changes will be made to the design. After all, as they say, improving a good thing only spoils it! /

Comparison with competitors
One of the main competitors of the Polaris 500 ATV is the BRP Outlander L570 X MR. The Canadian car beats the American in almost everything. The Outlander is equipped with a more powerful engine; under the hood of this predator hides as much as 48 horsepower. Fans of SUVs will also be impressed by the design of the L570. If the Sportsman is more reminiscent of sports equipment, then the appearance of the Canadian simply screams of power and cross-country ability.
However, in terms of price, Polaris technology definitely wins. A new Sportsman costs between 380-450 thousand rubles, depending on the modification and year of manufacture. For a fresh Outlander, with full equipment, you will have to pay 978 thousand rubles.
Domestic manufacturers did not stand aside either, or rather, the Stealth company, which presented the ATV 800GT ATV. The Russian utility vehicle is distinguished by its significant carrying capacity and power. In cross-country ability, the Stealth is inferior to the Sportsman, but wins in price. For a fully equipped AVT 800GT you will have to pay only 400 thousand rubles.
A serious opponent for the Polaris Sportsman 500 ATV was the Honda TRX 500 FA. Technically, both cars are very similar, so the only question is the price. The cost of a new Honda, produced in 2021, ranges from 810 to 880 thousand rubles.
Model range of Polaris ATVs
The Polaris ATV is not one product, but a huge model range, represented by several modifications and designs. Every year it is improved, new specimens are added. The dynamics of the model range makes it impractical and impossible to fully review the range of cars produced by the company in one short article, so it makes sense to dwell on the samples offered by the company’s Moscow dealers in 2015. Prices are approximate and may vary depending on exchange rates.
So, small-capacity (otherwise called “children’s”) cars are represented by the Polaris Outlaw 50 (79 thousand rubles), Polaris Outlaw 90 and Polaris Sportsman 90 (169 thousand rubles each).
These machines are similar to the “adult” models, but less powerful. Thus, the Polaris Outlaw 50, suitable for driving even by a six-year-old driver weighing up to 100 kg and dimensions 1219 × 800 × 711 mm, has an engine of only 4 l/s. The other two modifications have more powerful engines.
Utilitarian cars of the glorious family under the name Polaris ATV are represented by models of 17 brands with prices ranging from 299,000 to 909,000 rubles. These are the Sportsman (400, 500, 550, 570, 0800, etc., various modifications) and Scrambler (2 varieties) lines. The Polaris-500 ATV in various modifications is very popular. Polaris-800, an ATV with a large engine capacity, is not much less popular among buyers.
Polaris Sportsman - Brief Review
Polaris Sportsman / Polaris Sportsman
The Polaris Sportsman ATV is a versatile, comfortable ATV with excellent performance. The “Sportsman” is presented on the market in several modifications, equipped with power units of different cubic capacity. The all-terrain vehicle has an ergonomic design with an optimal soft seat height and convenient controls. The cladding uses heavy-duty plastic.
To make it easier to install Lock & Ride accessories, the Polaris Sportsman has repositioned the front struts and narrowed the radiator. The drive uses an automatic PVT transmission with a cardan shaft. The stamped steel wheels are equipped with disc brake systems. Lateral stability is controlled by a rear suspension stabilizer and multi-mode damper adjustments.
The digital instrument panel of the Polaris Sportsman ATV provides accurate readings of the speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer, hour meter, and tachometer. The all-terrain vehicle is equipped with a driving mode indicator, a daily mileage meter, and a 12-volt connector for electrical appliances. The package includes modern optics and two strong luggage racks.
Video
In addition, it should be noted that the Polaris Sportsman Touring 570 has several modified versions, among which there are models with electric power steering, also known as EPS. This equipment, in addition to facilitating maneuvering in difficult areas, also helps smooth out shock loads, which additionally ensures riding comfort. However, if the equipment is intended for normal driving, then you can do without this improvement, since the control of the model is already quite easy, but if the ATV is used off-road, then electric power steering is quite appropriate.
Successful start from overseas
The brand, in demand among modern quad bikers, appeared in the mid-50s of the 20th century. Three partners in the persons of Orlen and David Johnson and Paul Nochenmus began producing snowmobiles and Polaris ATVs to overcome difficult weather conditions. The first models looked quite primitive, but still enjoyed success among admirers.
As a prototype, the developers took similar equipment from Honda ATC - All Terrain Cycles. "Polaris" is translated from English as "Pole Star". All-terrain vehicles are designed not only to transport their driver not only on asphalt surfaces, but also for racing on unpaved rough terrain or on sand dunes.
- built-in automatic variator (PVT);
- the rear suspension received a lot of travel;
- MacPherson suspension was installed in front;
- each wheel had a disc brake;
- the footpegs on both sides are now full-length and continuous.
A decade later, as the company's website states, products come out with IRS rear independent suspension. This design solution allows you to minimize possible rolls and provide maximum smoothness. The high-strength frame and excellent quality of components make this model one of the most popular among buyers on different continents. Thanks to its characteristics, in the 8th year of the new millennium the brand sells its millionth “Sportsman”.
Over more than half a century of history, the company has managed to implement many projects and become a market leader. Its motorcycles are capable of passing even where competitors would not be able to do so. You can choose a model that is comfortable in terms of characteristics and price from the official dealer of the company in Russia.

On the way to the test, I assumed that I would have to torment another large utility vehicle with skids and jumps. But I was wrong. But not in intentions, but in expectations. The fact is that the Sportsman turned out to be not just big, but VERY BIG (for comparison: one and a half times larger than the Honda TRX680FA Rincon). I won’t say that this made me happy or sad, rather it surprised me. And not only the size, but also the layout of the car is very interesting: the in-line engine is located longitudinally, and the variator pulleys are generally located on top of each other! But in fact, this arrangement is very logical: there is no additional gearbox between the variator and the transfer case - there is no power loss in it.
