Polaris Sportsman 570 Forest EPS. Kati, Forest, Kati!

The Polaris Sportsman Touring 570 ATV is a utilitarian model that can be used for any fishing and hunting trips, as well as for outdoor activities and off-road driving. The distinctive features of this ATV from many similar models are a high level of safety for the driver and passenger, increased cross-country ability, improved handling, as well as a high level of reliability.

It should be noted that in 2014 the manufacturer carried out a fairly thorough modernization of this model. The existing shortcomings have been almost completely corrected. Initially, the equipment was equipped with a power unit with a displacement of 500 cubic meters, however, after modernization, engines with a displacement of 567 cubic meters appeared in the line. The fuel system was also changed; instead of a carburetor, the engine received an injector, which had a positive effect on increasing power and reducing fuel consumption.

The new engine, with its displacement, is capable of developing a rated output power of 44 horsepower or 32.4 kilowatts. Traditionally, for such equipment, the power plant can be started in two ways: using an electric starter or using a manual one. In addition to engine consumption, the duration of trips is also ensured by a fairly large fuel tank, with a calculated volume of 17 liters.

The ATV is equipped with a comfortable double seat. The equipment has average overall dimensions, namely the length of the model is 2184 millimeters, and the height and width are equal to 1219 millimeters. The length of the wheelbase is 1422 millimeters. Polaris Sportsman Touring 570 has a fairly modern and stylish design, which seems to emphasize its character. The case is made very ergonomically and has increased impact resistance. All this together makes this ATV stand out from many models, both from this manufacturer and from others.

In addition, it should be noted that the Polaris Sportsman Touring 570 has several modified versions, among which there are models with electric power steering, also known as EPS. This equipment, in addition to facilitating maneuvering in difficult areas, also helps smooth out shock loads, which additionally ensures riding comfort. However, if the equipment is intended for normal driving, then you can do without this improvement, since the control of the model is already quite easy, but if the ATV is used off-road, then electric power steering is quite appropriate.

Polaris Sportsman 570 Forest EPS. Kati, Forest, Kati!

Typically, ATVs (all-terrain vehicles) in Russia receive a self-propelled vehicle passport (PSM), they are not intended for driving on public roads, they are registered with Gostekhnadzor and there they also receive a category A1 tractor driver's license, necessary to operate this equipment. However, many who want to buy a quad either don’t know at all that it needs to be registered and receive special rights, or they know, get upset and postpone the purchase until better times

Polaris Sportsman 570 Forest EPS. Price: not determined. On sale: from summer 2015

Like a normal off-road ATV, Forest is not trained to ride on asphalt and strives to stand on its side in any turn.

So the Brandt company, the official distributor of Polaris equipment, decided to bring these times closer and received for one of the models - the Polaris Sportsman 570 Forest - a vehicle type approval certificate (category L7), i.e. PTS, not PSM, with all that it implies: registration with the traffic police, obtaining a regular “motorcycle” license of category A and the ability to safely ride on public roads (after registration, obtaining license plates, passing the GTO and purchasing compulsory motor insurance, of course).

But you can’t just take and transfer a quad from a self-propelled vehicle (all-terrain vehicle) to a vehicle (quadricycle)! To do this, the lighting equipment was improved, higher-pressure tires were installed, the sound signal, external noise, instruments, resistance to external sources of electromagnetic radiation, and much more were brought into compliance with the requirements of the law. The main thing is that the 44-horsepower engine had to be derated to 15.4 liters. With. (11.5 kW) by installing new intake and exhaust, as well as reconfiguring the engine management system...

In theory, the quad is a single-seater, but there is space and handles for a passenger

Well, it's a great idea to take the bureaucratic headache off the buyer's shoulders! This, apparently, is Brandt’s idea, since the Forest’s supposed road purpose is nothing more than a ploy. Structurally, this is an ordinary single-seat Polaris Sportsman all-terrain vehicle, which does not have sufficient stability or controllability for driving on asphalt, or brakes effective for road speeds. And why, really, ride an ATV around the city?!

So the buyer of the “Forest”, driving it, as expected, into the fields and forests, if necessary, only needs to change the tires to more “evil” ones and peel off the black film from the searchlight. But the engine, it seems, is already being returned to its original 44 horsepower at dealerships; in any case, our test specimen galloped definitely faster than the official 15 “ponies” could, easily accelerated to 100 km/h and tried to roll over even in the most harmless turn - still, “Forest” has no place on the asphalt.

There are glove compartments in the front fairing and under the seat in the back.

The Volzhsky Automobile Plant began producing Lada Kalina cars with a GLONASS/GPS navigator, the display of which is integrated into the standard instrument panel. The first batch of 50 cars, which are planned to be released in March, will go to official dealers as demonstration samples. To control navigation, use the multifunction joystick in the right steering column switch.

Navigation systems installed in Lada Kalina work with maps. In standard mode, the devices are capable of reproducing a picture in 3D and 2D images and giving audio prompts using a “voice guide”. In addition, the display will show the current time, as well as odometer and on-board computer readings.

  1. We purchased the quadric in the winter because we luckily came across a copy in good condition and at a fairly attractive price. Of course, the car required some investments, but not significant ones. I basically replaced all the fluids and some bearings. On the move the model is quite excellent. There seems to be no area where this ATV can't go. I have a version without power steering, however, its absence does not affect comfort in any way. Everything is quite convenient. The consumption is really not very high, the maneuverability is very good, and the seating position is comfortable.
  2. I really liked the Polaris 570. I purchased it back in 2021 and am still happy with the purchase. During the entire period of operation, all sorts of malfunctions arose, but this is typical of any other equipment. The ATV did not cause any special expenses, and on the contrary, it is a little more economical. The characteristics are quite satisfactory, at least for my needs, namely for fishing trips and driving through the forest. Overall a very good model.

Need for Speed

It’s hard to understand right away: how a heavy UTV with an engine capacity of only 570 cubic centimeters can “shoot” from a standstill with such agility! Other manufacturers' 800cc utility UTVs don't come close to competing with the Ranger 570 .

This is amazing: I pressed the “slipper” to the floor, and in a matter of seconds our Polaris turns into a point on the horizon. At the same time, please note that this is not a “double-barreled shotgun”, but an ordinary single-cylinder injection engine with a power of 45 “horses”.

There is a sense of great potential in the power unit, because even when the Ranger is battling severe off-road conditions, there is no hint that the engine is struggling: it does not try to slow down or ask for mercy with the characteristic knocking in the engine. Users of Chinese UTVs will understand what we're talking about better than anyone else.

The Polaris Ranger 570 EFI powertrain is located under the dump body. From a service point of view, it is a very convenient and practical solution. And the weight distribution of the UTV, thanks to this engine layout, is more than successful.

What was also surprising was the complete absence of vibrations. Usually single-cylinder engines are guilty of this, and when you saddle such a side-by-side, there is a complete illusion that you are sitting astride a washing machine operating in the “spin” mode.

How did the Polaris Ranger 570 developers manage to dampen vibrations?

  • Well, firstly, this is a smartly made and balanced motor.
  • Secondly, the engine itself is not rigidly attached to the frame, but through good damping pads, which eliminate the transmission of any vibrations from the engine to other parts of the UTV.

Equipment

Polaris 570 ATVs are equipped with a large and durable trunk with a capacity of 136.1 kg, which can carry quite a significant load. The model also has a sealed front case for storing small items. The dashboard contains a speedometer, odometer, tochometer, a pair of trip meters, an hour meter, diagnostic indicators, a clock, gear indicators, low/high beam and fuel level indicators, as well as a DC power socket. Double brake lights and dual 50-watt low and high beams ensure safe driving at night.

Other technical features of the Polaris Sportsman ATV include:

  • high location of the radiator, providing optimal protection from dirt and water;
  • hydraulic disc brakes on all wheels;
  • electric power steering;
  • increased gas tank volume, 17 liters, for long and comfortable trips;
  • overall dimensions (LxWxH) - 218.4x121.9x121.9 cm;
  • wheelbase - 142.2 cm;
  • total curb weight - 314 kg;
  • original design emphasizing the dynamic character of the SUV.

Buying a Polaris 570 Sportsman Touring ATV means getting a balanced all-terrain vehicle that perfectly copes with the tasks assigned to it.

Beauty matters

The exterior of the Polaris Ranger 570 is definitely pleasing to the eye. And the saying “There are no comrades according to taste” is clearly not about our subject. With his brutality, he will bribe not only men, but also their companions.

Clear cut shapes seem to emphasize the strong-willed and uncompromising character of the all-terrain vehicle, the “frowning” headlights and massive radiator grille immediately make it clear that this is not a “SUV”, but a seasoned SUV for the most serious tasks.

It is clear that the designers worked on the appearance of the Ranger 570 not in smoke breaks between other projects, but for a long time and painstakingly, bringing every touch to perfection. This is understandable, because appearance is one of the decisive criteria in the question of whether to buy or not to buy.

The load capacity of the dump body is almost 230 kilos! So even a very large trophy can be achieved by “Ranger”.

The Ranger 570 SUV, we repeat, is clearly a utilitarian UTV, as evidenced not only by the tipper body, but even by the seat. If in the same Polaris RZR we see two separate sports “buckets” for the steering wheel and the passenger, then in our case it is a single sofa, like in a truck. But despite the fact that the Ranger has a full-width monolithic seat, there are only two seats: for the pilot and the navigator. In theory, you can seat a child in the middle, but there are no seat belts to fasten a young passenger.

In terms of options, the Ranger 570 all-terrain vehicle is not stuffed with anything special:

  • Two pedals
  • steering wheel,
  • gear selector,
  • dashboard,
  • ignition switch (also the headlight switch),
  • 12 Volt socket
  • and a drive system selection button.

In general, quite ascetic. But almost all famous brands do not pamper their customers with “full stuffing”. However, if you the Polaris Ranger 570 not as a show car, but as a machine for hunting in deep off-road conditions, then all you need to add to it is an electric winch.
