Motorcycle AX-50 Mini-Bike (2008): technical characteristics, photos, videos

Minibikes (or pocket bikes, like a “pocket motorcycle”) are closely related to karting, and the fun of riding such motorcycles is about the same: everything is very dynamic and fun.
Yes, not seriously, you can’t go to the Iron Ass on this, but such motorcycles are bought only for the fun. Since their introduction in the late 1950s, minibikes have gained popularity around the world. This wave has long reached Russia. In this regard, we will consider the main features of minibikes and give their classification.

History and development of minibikes

Like karts, the first minibikes were created by enthusiasts in their garages. It all started in the late 1950s in Japan. People organized local races on homemade minibikes, and I bet no one even thought that this type of motorcycle would become so popular all over the world.

Then minibikes began to be used by technical and maintenance personnel in drag racing, 402-meter races. The maneuverability of these small motorcycles made it possible for technicians to dash through cramped pit stops littered with equipment. Soon another “nickname” stuck to minibikes. Along with the names “minibike” and “pocket bike,” they began to be called “pit bikes.”

Historically, there were “nonsense” not only in the Soviet Union) They carried and carry all sorts of goods home from work all over the world, and soon the same service personnel began to ride minibikes around their summer cottages).

Seeing how grown-up guys were racing small motorcycles, the children began to urge their parents to buy them the same one. There was a demand for minibikes. And demand was immediately followed by supply!

By the late 1960s – early 1970s (the peak of the craze for this type of equipment), there was already a market for minibikes in the United States with such large manufacturers as Arctic-Cat, Rupp, Taco, Heath, Gilson and Fox. The equipment produced by Rupp already had a cult status and its admirers.

In the USSR there was no such thing as a minibike, there was no market as such, but some echoes of this trend can be found in old books on self-building motorcycles.

Legal status and safety when riding a minibike

Most often, minibikes are produced with engines with a displacement of up to 50 cubic centimeters, so a driver’s license is not required to ride them in Russia. To ride a minibike with an engine displacement larger than fifty dollars (there are quite a lot of equipment on the market with two-stroke engines with a volume of 100-125 cc), you formally need a category “A” driver’s license.

However, despite the apparent frivolity of the design and small size, many modern minibikes accelerate to speeds of 60-100 km/h. The suspension is weak, the wheels are small! Falling off a minibike can be very painful! So, when riding a minibike, wear your regular, “adult” gear!

Types of minibikes

Over time, several subtypes of minibikes appeared.

Minimoto/pocket bike

These are small sportbikes designed for riding on a track or karting track. They usually have a two-cylinder fifty-cc engine with a power of up to 6-7 hp. and maximum speed up to 70 km/h. There are also four-stroke and electric versions. Sizes vary, but the largest minibikes of this type can have a wheelbase of up to 1 meter (looks like this to scale). Minimotos are manufactured in China in large volumes, which explains their low cost. Popular companies producing minimotos are V-Racer and Sendai (China).

Pit bike

These are small motocross motorcycles designed for off-road racing. In the USA, mini-motocross competitions are very popular; The Las Vegas Mini Supercross is considered the most important event of the year. Pit bikes already have much more mature characteristics than minimotos. Engines with a displacement of 100-200 cubic centimeters, four-stroke single-barrel engines, power up to 15-20 horses. Wheelbase – up to one and a half meters and weight up to 80 kg. This is already impressive. There are a lot of manufacturers, not only China, but also Europe and Japan produce such motorcycles, so prices are an order of magnitude higher than for minimotos.

Functions of the Police motorcycle

  • Goes back and forth.

On the front control panel of the Kreiss “Police” 6V motorcycle there are buttons for switching movement. First you need to make a choice: “forward/backward”, and then press your foot on the pedal, which is located at the bottom on the right side. Turning is done using the steering wheel.

  • Sound effects.

There are 2 red buttons on the front panel that produce sound. When you press the right one, a police signal sounds. When you click on the left one - one of three funny songs in English. The sound is too loud for the house, but normal for the street.

  • Light effects.

When the small motorcycle moves, the front blue headlight glows. The red and orange side lights are just for looks. Also, when driving, the flashing light on the trunk glows red and blue.

Motorcycle Kreiss “Police” 6V: how to charge

The battery for charging the motorcycle is located under the seat. The black cap is unscrewed on one side and removed. But the mechanism does not need to be removed to charge. We simply insert the charger into the appropriate socket, which is located on the control panel, and the charging device into the outlet. And that’s it, the battery will start charging.

Before this manipulation, make sure that the voltage of the charging kit at the input matches the voltage of the electricity source.

It is recommended to charge the battery for the first time for 4-6 hours, and then for 8-12. You don't need to charge it for more than a day.

Take safety precautions when using the charger!

  • The charger and battery are not toys and should not be used by children.
  • Only an adult can charge the battery.
  • Do not disassemble the battery or short-circuit its wires.
  • Use only batteries and chargers recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Check the charger regularly for damage and do not use if there is a problem.

If the shift is in neutral, the motorcycle will not move.

Advice: warn your child that when switching the “BACK/FORWARD” movement, the pedal is lowered and the motorcycle does not move. This way you will prevent breakdown of the product and extend its service life.

Disadvantages of the Kreiss 6V motorcycle

  1. The trunk opens very easily, and a child can easily get into it. There is a wire from the flasher there, and a young driver can damage it. Therefore, it is better to hide the wires or remove them altogether if your baby is too active.
  2. When ordering online, the toy arrives unassembled. Not everyone can quickly and easily assemble it and connect all the wires correctly, according to the instructions.
  3. The battery discharges quickly with active use. The driving time, even with a well-charged battery, continues to become shorter and shorter.
  4. Music that is too loud can be annoying for adults, but the sound can be turned off.
  5. Short warranty period, only 3 months. So it is recommended to actively use the motorcycle immediately after purchase in order to promptly identify all defects and defects in production.

Causes of problems

If the motorcycle does not run, a fuse may have blown. Replace it with a new one, which should come in the set. The fuse is located next to the battery.
