7 “Motozima-2018” was held on November 2-4 in Sokolniki

What else could you see at the exhibition?

The second pavilion lived its own atmospheric life largely due to retro and artists. The collection of the Polytechnic Museum, against the backdrop of conversations about customization and meetings with collectors, was right on topic. Photographers were constantly running around in the hall with exhibits (and let’s be honest, on the first day there was almost a line for every motorcycle), and there were artists right there. One or two people painted right between the stands, without being embarrassed by the public. On the stairs of the second floor, as a thick hint that it was possible to climb, the same BMW GS1200 was tied (it again?). There are paintings lined up around the perimeter; artists painted here too. Along the walls there are stands for motorcycle tourism.

The general idea of the exhibition came down to customization and retro. On the one hand, Motozima’s goal is to inspire people to take on winter exploits, take a snowmobile or go into the snow for adventure. On the other hand, this time nostalgia for the time when you dreamed of assembling your own bike or puzzledly turned the idler gear from the gearbox in your hands in order to find its place between the primary, secondary and intermediate shafts appears.

"Motozima-2018" - the season is closed!

On November 2-4, the seventh exhibition of outdoor equipment “Motozima-2018” was held in Sokolniki. The business hall of pavilion 4.1 brought together importers and manufacturers of motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, pit bikes, scooters and other motor vehicles, as well as equipment, tuning, spare parts and consumables. The 2019 KTM off-road line was exhibited by Bike Land, the official distributor of the Austrian brand. New Ducati motorcycles were on display at the Motorriki stand. brought Klim, premium equipment for motorcyclists, ATVs and snowmobilers. Modern track kits for converting a motorcycle into a snowbike were presented by the Russian brands Vortex and Snowrider. A traditional participant of MotoZima is the Moscow dealer of Ural cars, which are now actively sold all over the world and are significantly different from the “opposite” cars of Soviet times in both reliability and driving performance.

Unique exhibits were exhibited in the adjacent pavilion 7a. The core of the exhibition was equipment from the collection of the Moscow Polytechnic Museum. Its main building is now closed for reconstruction, access to exhibits is difficult, but Motozima gave visitors a good opportunity to get acquainted with the museum’s treasures. In the pre-revolutionary section there were Fn, Humber, Motoreve and motorcycles of other brands that are now half-forgotten. In the center stood a Kudell trike from the Tsar's garage, which belonged to Nicholas II and the Grand Dukes. The collection of Soviet racing equipment turned out to be more modern, but no less valuable. Its center was the two Vostok ships built in Serpukhov. These legendary motorcycles took podium places in the world road racing championship in the 60s, now known as MotoGP. Homemade all-terrain vehicles have been provided by private collections. The most noticeable one was built 20 years ago in Orenburg by a local engineer from a cargo engine, an aircraft fuselage and a tracked drive, which is changed to a wheel drive in the summer. Moreover, the wheeled version even passed certification, received license plates and drove on public roads. Another unique type of all-terrain vehicle, the snowmobile, was represented by three models.

The customizers were represented by the young but already legendary workshop Zillers Garage, which won this year’s AMD World Custom Championship. And industry veterans, five-time Russian champions, the Fine Custom Mechanics workshop, showed at a large stand their fast and beautiful Urals, which set a speed record at the American Bonnevile Speed Week festival. A large section of the exhibition was occupied by motorcycle tourists with stories about past and future travels, and manufacturers of accessories and clothing. The Sinner's Bones brand held a presentation of a new clothing collection.

“Motozima” is not only a static exhibition. On the main stage, all three days there were lectures, seminars, and meetings on a wide variety of topics, from motorcycle racing of the past and present to motorcycle travel. The Discovery Channel held a pre-premiere screening of the film “Biaritz: Russian Custom in Europe” about the FCM team’s trip to the famous Wheels & Waves festival. The Skidooking Kamchatka snowmobile school, an organizer of tours and training programs in the Kamchatka mountains, spoke about avalanche safety. Some lectures were tied to exhibits in the exhibition, so you could dive deeper into their history than just looking around.

According to tradition, the Moscow Department of Transport’s quest “Moscow is a city for motorcyclists” took place at Motozima, where the most erudite participant won a set of BMW equipment. Another competition required good artistic taste and ability to draw. Artists working in the style of motorcycle art spent three days painting the most significant models of the BMW GS line. The winner, determined by an independent commission, received a prize from the Russian representative office of BMW Motorrad.

The eighth exhibition of equipment for active recreation “Motospring-2019” will be held at the beginning of the new motorcycle season at a new site. Follow the announcements!

New products from manufacturers

500 EXC-F from the Austrian company KTM:
Honestly, while everyone is waiting for super-new products at the Italian EICMA exhibition, there are no such new products at all at Russian exhibitions.

Many motorcycle manufacturers who previously took part in MotoZima did not appear at the event this year. Of the manufacturers, there was only KTM, which apparently has something to show. Namely, the updated line of off-road equipment for 2021. True, on the first day of the exhibition, no one could tell us more about the new products at the manufacturer’s stand, they said “come back tomorrow”...

Among the exhibitors there were many manufacturers and dealers of tuning, equipment, and equipment care products.

In the very center of the main pavilion there is a large stand “Moscow Transport”. Here are GS cars from BMW equipped for the needs of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate.

Custom

It seemed to us that most of all at the exhibition were custom ones - beautiful, unique, one-off pieces.

In customizing, the main thing is not how it drives, but how the equipment looks!

And the specimen in the photo below is not just beautiful. Even the most fierce customization experts recognized its coolness. The author of this work, Dmitry Golubchikov, with the Zillers Garage workshop took first place in the AMD customizer competition in the freestyle category!

The motorcycle was called Insomnia - insomnia. The championship cup is with him. The victorious custom is made on the basis of a Yamaha SR400 with a volume of 399 cc.

There were also many less famous, but no less beautiful motorcycles.

By the way, a pre-screening of the film about Russian customization “BIARRITZ: Russian custom in Europe” took place at Motozima. The film was produced by a Russian team together with the Discovery Channel. The premiere will take place on November 12 at 22.00.

The 7th international exhibition for active recreation “MotoZima” will bring together on November 2-4 in Moscow all the best new motorcycles, ATVs and the most extreme equipment!

The exhibition “Motozima” takes place at the Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Center from November 2 to 4 in the center of the park of the same name. The location makes it easy to reach both by metro and car. For those who do not close the season by November, free motorcycle parking is provided. The exhibition is located in pavilions 4.1 and 7a.

Leading players in the Russian market of motorcycles and related products are participating in Motozima. Importers of the world's largest motorcycle brands took part in previous exhibitions: BMW, Harley-Davidson, KTM, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Indian, Triumph, Confederate, BRP, Bajaj, CF Moto, Kayo. The Russian motorcycle industry was represented by Irbitsky Motor Plant, Russian Mechanics, Baltmotors, Stealth and others.

The latest motorcycle models are expected at Motozima. In particular, the 2021 off-road line of the Austrian company will be exhibited at the KTM stand. The latest developments will be shown by suppliers of equipment, tuning, spare parts and consumables.

At the stands of clubs, tourist associations and gatherings, anyone will find a company of like-minded people for local communication and long-distance travel. In the arts and crafts area, photographers, tanners, painters, tattoo artists, foundry workers working in the motorcycle field are exhibited. Among the non-commercial exhibits, vintage motorcycles are very popular.

According to tradition, large stands show the best custom studios in Russia and neighboring countries. During all three days of the exhibition, the Motozima stage will host presentations, reports, awards, seminars and other thematic events for a wide range of motorcyclists. A sports program is expected on the street area.

At Motozima, equipment not only of the present, but also of the past will be presented. This year the historical exhibition will be especially interesting and varied thanks to cooperation with the Moscow Polytechnic Museum. It provides the rarest pre-revolutionary motorcycles and tricycles, including those that belonged to the royal family.

Another section of the antique exhibition is dedicated to Soviet racing equipment. The motorcycles of the fastest Soviet racers will be exhibited there, including the road-circuit Vostoks, which took high places in world championships. Another unique exhibit is an all-terrain vehicle with a cabin made from the fuselage of the aircraft on which Yuri Gagarin took his first steps in aviation. The historical section is not only about exhibits. Historians and collectors will conduct excursions and lectures and talk in detail about the technology presented.

Travel and art

Most of the second floor of one of the pavilions was occupied by travelers of all stripes and sizes. Everyone is happy to talk about their experience, show photos and invite you to join.

Artists are also located here, showing their works, and also creating new masterpieces dedicated to motorcycling right at the exhibition.

You can get stuck on such things for a long time. The guys are incredibly talented, many of the works are really cool!

In general, despite the fact that we personally expected something completely different from the exhibition, it was really not boring. Lots of nice, sincere people, beautiful motorcycles and interesting little things.
