For those who dreamed of a motorcycle in the “sport” or “chopper” style, which you can ride without changing gears, I recommend taking a closer look at the offer from CFMOTO. Since 1985, this motorcycle concern has been producing motorcycles and scooters for the European and Asian markets. Recently, motorcycle equipment from CFMOTO can also be found in the USA, Russia (Baltmotors) and the former CIS. Since 2004, production of the V-3 and V-5 models began. The first revisions came with a remote start. Also in the first batches there were problems with the battery. If the motorcycle was not ridden for about 2 weeks, then the battery needed to be replaced. In 2006, remote control using a remote control was removed.

My personal motorcycle is a Yamaha 650 V-STAR, which I really like. But in city traffic jams, the need to constantly change gears is very annoying. In addition, a heavy cruiser is not the best solution in such cases when you constantly need to slow down or accelerate. As a result, I was puzzled by choosing an “automatic” motorcycle that would be comfortable for me, given my not small height and weight. How is it? The V3's style is sporty, European and eye-catching. Reminds me of the BMW 1200 sport cruiser. The plastic can be easily removed for engine maintenance. In order to completely eliminate vibration and increase service life, I added gaskets at the mounting points.

Engine – Single-cylinder, water-cooled 250 (242) cm3. Compression 10:1, 4 strokes, which produces 18 hp. Kehein 30 mm carburetor. Similar ones are used in some sports models of Honda and others. In my version, the idle speed was set to 1000 rpm, but it is recommended to set it to 1500 +/- 150. The setting is done once with a special lever, and does not create any problems. Electrical – The motorcycle complies with US dot standards. There are no problems in purchasing spare parts in the USA. The brake system is standard and can be purchased along with the headlights at Wal-Mart. Front lamp - H4 (Phillips) can be purchased anywhere. In general, the electrics are similar to those of the Japanese V-STAR. The wiring is of good quality and is resistant to dirt and impact. There is no need to solder and connect any wires, as in some representatives of Chinese motorcycle products. The spark plug is the same as the Yamaha V-STAR - DPR7EA-9 NGK with the same gap. There is a complete fuse block, unlike just one as on some motorcycles from China. There are several free upgrade slots. The alternator is similar to V-STAR - 240 w. Moreover, this is at 7000 rpm. Wheels - chrome rims, tubeless tires. The front tire is 100/90/18 and the rear tire is 150/80/15. By Chinese standards, this is a real Hign End. By the way, brands such as Dunlop or Metzler have offers in these sizes. This is definitely a plus.

Brakes – Front and rear brakes are hydraulic. The fluid used is DOT 4 and the brake hose is protected. The brakes did not cause any problems. In addition, they are standard, so it is possible to replace them with branded ones. It should be noted that the rear brake is pressed not with the foot, but with the handle, as on scooters.

Information panel – In the sun the information is readable without problems, except for the digital clock in strong daylight. The panel displays information about the fuel level and engine temperature. There is a speedometer and odometer. I just wish there was a tachometer. If desired, you can place your own mini-tachometer. Indicating the operation of turn signals and headlights does not cause problems. Power – The motorcycle is quite powerful. Maximum speed is about 120-130 km/h. I needed to get onto the expressway to do a full test. If you replace the spark plugs with iridium ones, I think the maximum speed can be raised by 10 km/h. In my opinion, the motorcycle is fast enough at the level of my Yamaha V-STAR. This is definitely a highway bike. Handling – This is where I can't praise this bike enough. I rode it at speeds of 7-10 km/h and did not experience any problems with balancing, which I could not do with the V-STAR. The V3 maintains cornering lean at a good level, like a sports motorcycle. I rate the handling and maneuverability as excellent. Service (applies to the USA only) – Honda dealers, for example, service the motorcycle without problems, but basic knowledge to correct possible breakdowns is, of course, welcome, as with any other equipment. Unfortunately, there is no service manual yet, but it will work for the Honda Helix, because their engines and carburetors are very similar. The availability of spare parts is increasing, and some can be replaced from Honda. A certain range is available at Wal-Mart.

Pros – 1) Built-in stereo system + radio AM FM1, FM2, Mp3 and cassette player, speakers. This is not High-end, but the sound is quite good for such a system. Unfortunately, at speeds above 70 km/h it becomes impossible to listen to music due to the wind and helmet. However, when driving slowly on the street everything is just fine. 2) Adjustable brakes - 4 levels. 3) Protection from dirt and water is good and did not cause any problems. 4) Non-hollow, very durable engine protection tubes! However, they are not round but square, so it is difficult to find a clip, for example, for additional headlights. Tuning – I added Kisantech tail blazer (rear) and path finder (front). The motorcycle uses standard connectors, so this was not a problem. Installed a mini tachometer. The alternator is powerful enough to allow for additional lamps for lighting or modding. Since this is an automatic motorcycle, there is no space for a helmet. There is a very small glove compartment under the seat, but I don’t know what can be stored there. What I would like to add: 1) Odometer to measure driving distance 2) Built-in tachometer 3) Adjustable shock absorbers 4) Ability to attach travel bags to the back of the motorcycle 5) Oil filter - standard for scooters. Personally, I, who am used to taking spare parts from Honda helix or reflex, would like to see a standard motorcycle one there. The motorcycle has all the DOT, EPA and CARB certificates required for the USA. To summarize: being manufactured in China, the CFMOTO V3, even according to Japanese motorcycle construction standards, receives a 4+ rating.
