Quick answer: What kind of gasoline is better to put in a 4t scooter?

The topic of gasoline for a scooter always contains questions. Everywhere you can find all sorts of contradictions and the tendency of scooterists to use different gasoline. The question is about filling 92 or 95 gasoline, which one is better for a scooter engine, which gasoline makes the scooter go faster, more powerful, and the most important point - does 95 gasoline harm the scooter engine?

There is no exact answer here for several reasons. Firstly, it is imperative to fill in high-quality gasoline at proven gas stations with a good reputation. Don’t think that if you have a scooter, then you can use all kinds of fresh water. This type of transport is very sensitive to fuel quality.

Appearance of Alpha RX

Alpha RX is an updated version of the previous classic moped. The new moped has become more interesting and elegant in appearance. The exterior has a modern look which I liked. The tank has been updated, a two-level seat has been installed - the passenger is now slightly higher than the driver. The passenger's visibility is now better. The wings are now made of plastic, but only the front wing is painted. This already saves the wings from corrosion.

The headlight became larger than that of the classic Alpha, a serious halogen lamp was installed, and the light became brighter. The rear shock absorbers have become more advanced in shape. The motorcycle is also equipped with serious lighting equipment - front and rear lights, turn signals with sound, high and low beams, a signal and a brake light.

Very easy to use. Repair is possible with a minimum set of tools, but you will have to stock up on additional open-end wrenches: 9, 11 and 15.

It comes in two versions for sale: with a 72 cc and 110 cc engine. But lately they have been supplied partially unserviceable with a 50cc piston that will need to be upgraded. These versions of the models are called Alpha 7 and Alpha 11.

These numbers are deciphered as follows:

  • 7 is an Alpha, which after modification will become a 72 cc model.
  • 11 is the Alpha, which will become a 110 cc model.

Initially, these models cost like “fifty dollars” and they will not be able to drive. In any case, they will have to be modified. But according to the documents, they are like mopeds with 49.9 cubic meters and there is no need to register them with the traffic police. The only thing you need is a driver's license of any category.

How to choose octane number

All scooters, without exception, require either 92 or 95 fuel. Some latest Italian models can be filled with 98, but manufacturers do not recommend this. Let's figure out why.

The number next to the fuel is called the octane number. It determines the optimal compression of the engine that can operate with this gasoline. If the combustible mixture is not compressed strongly enough, then its combustion will be uneven, and the heat, instead of making the engine work, will go into heating its parts. Because of this, they will wear out faster. If the compression force is too high, then there is a risk of spontaneous ignition of the mixture even without a spark. But the difference between neighboring numbers in this aspect is insignificant, so in 80% of cases you can fill in 92 gasoline instead of 95.

To understand whether 95 can be used on your model, you need to look at the manufacturer's recommendations. If they are not preserved, they can be found on the Internet. General tips would be:

  1. The better the engine compression, the better the two-wheeled friend on the 95 will perform. Compression is best for Japanese and especially Italian models. But a Chinese scooter definitely requires 92.
  2. A 2t scooter only needs to be filled with 92-gasoline. With a two-stroke cycle, compression plays a lesser role. But you can put ninety-five in a 4t scooter. If, of course, this is provided by the manufacturer.
  3. You can fill the moped with both. It all depends on the specific characteristics. Mopeds can be either 2t or 4t, so the recommendations for them are the same as for scooters. For example, you can fill an alpha moped with 95% gasoline. The same applies to other models.
  4. The same rules apply to motorcycles in this aspect. However, it is still recommended to give preference to 92nd gasoline. Experts unanimously advise not to fill a Ural motorcycle with anything higher than 92.
  5. Even if fuel goes into a 4-stroke engine, you should pay attention to the wear and tear of the fuel system. If the scooter has been in use for a long time, sometimes malfunctions, or some parts have already been changed, you should choose the ninety-second one.
  6. Single use of gasoline with a higher octane number will not harm the iron horse. If you run out of 92 at the gas station, feel free to use 95. But try not to rev high to reduce wear on your two-wheeled friend.

Engine Specifications

The moped is equipped with a 4-stroke air-cooled engine marked 1P39FMB. The marking means that the engine has a piston with a diameter of supposedly 39 mm and the engine has a volume of supposedly 49.9 cubic cm.

The advantage of such an engine is that there is no need to mix gasoline and oil. But unlike a 2-stroke engine, which is structurally simpler, here you need to monitor the valve clearance. Plus, the engine is equipped with an oil pump, a drive chain and a chain tensioner.

The gearbox on the Alpha RX moped is four-speed, like on the Voskhod motorcycle. But the neutral position is between first and second gears. The first gear is down and the rest are up.

900 ml of engine oil is poured into the engine crankcase. Oil can be filled with 10W-40. After riding the moped for 100 kilometers, I drained the factory oil and filled it with Zic engine oil. As soon as I complete the break-in, I will fill in more expensive Motul oil.

The moped is equipped with an electric starter, which can be used to start the engine by pressing a button on the steering wheel. The thing is convenient, but if the moto sits for a long time without recharging, the battery runs out. You have to start it using the kickstarter, which is located on the right side of the moped.

Kickstarter is not conveniently located. It gets in the way when driving. Therefore, it must be installed at an angle, and not vertically! The kickstarter stroke becomes shorter, but it is enough to start the engine and it does not interfere.

The Alpha RX moped is equipped with a PZ 19 carburetor, which has no suction. Inside there is a throttle valve with a needle on which there are 5 marks. Two idle speed adjustment screws are installed. This is a quality screw and a quantity screw. Plus there is a lever that blocks the access of air to the carburetor.

Consequences of driving on low-quality fuel

You cannot immediately notice changes from using low-quality gasoline. However, if you constantly refuel it, it’s like a clockwork. Sooner or later there will come a time when the engine refuses to start at all or will pull very weakly. Thus, we get a list of possible consequences from using bad gasoline:

  • Failure of the fuel system. The carburetor and fuel injection systems of scooters and mopeds will become clogged with possible additives in the fuel. This entails frequent cleaning of the fuel system, which promises waste of money, especially in the case of an injector.
  • Formation of carbon deposits in the combustion chamber. Low-quality gasoline cannot burn completely. Therefore, rapid formation of carbon deposits on the piston and spark plug occurs. The moped may have difficulty starting, lose its traction characteristics, and so on.
  • Frequent overheating of the engine leads to wear of the crank mechanism and failure of other engine elements.

Two of these points force the moped owner to resort to expensive repairs, accompanied by the replacement of parts. And this all happens due to low-quality fuel!

How to choose a gas station

It is best to give preference to proven brands. Although they charge more, the temptation to win a few rubles will return many times with unexpected problems. Once you get caught by scammers three times, the repairs will cost a pretty penny. Even if you have confidence in your iron horse, and a 2-stroke scooter is less susceptible to problems than a 4t scooter, it’s not worth the risk.

However, with the spread of the mobile Internet, it has become possible to check the reputation of a gas station at any time. Applications such as DriverNotes or CamOnRoad are suitable for the owner of any vehicle, be it a car, motorcycle or delta moped.

Exterior

Despite the fact that the Alpha moped is called a scooter, its appearance is similar to that of a motorcycle. Design features include:

  • large wheels;
  • large fork (front);
  • rear view mirrors;
  • a large number of elements made of high-quality metal.

This scooter, made in China, is distinguished by its solid size and respectable appearance. As nice bonuses, there are stylish footrests and a muffler made in the shape of a saxophone, and capable of producing a melodic sound.

In the instrument panel, in addition to the speedometer, there are special lights that notify the owner of the moped about which turn signal is in use at the moment, as well as whether the high or low beam is turned on.

A comfortable and safe ride is ensured thanks to a convenient place for the case, as well as side bars made of high-quality metal pipes. Even in the event of a fall or accident, they are not in danger of deformation.

Advantages of the model

First of all, it is worth noting that some characteristics of the Alpha 110 moped exceed the distinctive features of two-seater mopeds. For example, this motorcycle is equipped with a comfortable seat for a passenger and a capacious trunk. The seat itself is quite comfortable, and, moreover, even two adult men can fit on it.

Also among the advantages of the moped is that you can make steep climbs on it without much difficulty - this is possible thanks to the four-speed gearbox. An experienced driver is quite capable of achieving maximum performance from a moped engine.

It is also worth noting the electric starter, which in case of unexpected unpleasant situations on the road allows you to start the moped - it is quite high quality.

The main advantages of a moped also include an increased level of comfort while moving. Thanks to this, the driver is able to make even particularly long trips. If we talk about the driver's seat itself, its seating position is quite high and comfortable, and the footrests are located exactly where needed. The steering wheel has a delicate smooth bend.

It is worth talking separately about the dashboard - it is quite informative, and due to the large size of the speedometer and tachometer, a quick reading of their indicators is possible even during bad weather conditions.

Modifications

Alpha motorcycles have several variations, which differ mainly in power and engine size. There are modifications with a sports body kit that look more aggressive, but have characteristics similar to the standard versions.

Types of mopeds:

  1. SP-110 C and MT-110/2 (110 cubic centimeters).
  2. MT-49 QT with a fifty-cc engine.
  3. Option with a power unit volume of 72 cubic meters. cm.
  4. One hundred twenty-five cubic centimeter model.
