Model of motocross motorcycle Suzuki RM-Z450

was first introduced to the market in 2005 and was positioned as the flagship 4-stroke motocross model. The first versions of the motorcycle (2005-2007) were equipped with a 4-speed gearbox, which was immediately criticized by experts and athletes, and led to the fact that by 2008 the Suzuki RM-Z450 received a traditional 5-speed gearbox. In the same year, the model received a new engine and fuel injection system.

In the period from 2005 to the present, the Suzuki RM-Z450 has undergone many technical changes affecting the engine, frame, suspension and chassis configuration.

In 2010, based on the Suzuki RM-Z450, a hard enduro version was built - the Suzuki RMX450Z.

The key features of the motorcycle include an aluminum frame, sports adjustable suspension, a 4-stroke liquid-cooled engine, fuel injection, a 5-speed gearbox, disc brakes, a 6.3-liter fuel tank and a 112 kg curb weight.

2017 SUZUKI RMZ 450: FULL TEST

In a world where what's hot today can be considered disgusting tomorrow, Suzuki is changing the game completely. Or maybe Suzuki is just lucky that retro styling is all the rage right now. Believe it or not, 2008 was the last time the Suzuki RM-Z450 received significant styling changes, and yet Suzuki is still doing well. Ken Roczen dominates at the professional level, and the car still holds its own among other 450s in head-to-head competition. So, is Suzuki smart or completely crazy?

WHAT IT IS Okay, to be fair, for the 450 Suzuki made huge changes to the 2015 RM-Z, which included a new frame, Showa SFF-Air forks and launch control. For 2021, Suzuki has refined the platform with targeted changes. Nothing groundbreaking was implemented, but Suzuki did increase the length of the kick starter by 30mm and redesign the shock transmission to improve crankshaft rotation efficiency. Suzuki has also retuned the decompression system to make starting easier. The ECU mapping has been revised to increase low power consumption without sacrificing mid-range and top-end power. The cooling system has been updated and now features a Y-shaped hose configuration designed to equalize overall flow. The water pump has also been redesigned to improve flow. The 2017 RM-Z450 returns with the same frame that was first introduced in 2015. Suzuki has reworked the downtubes and internal ribbing, increasing stiffness in some areas and decreasing stiffness in others for an overall balanced feel that allows the frame to absorb more impacts. The new frame is also 4% lighter than pre-2015 models.

Although the RM-Z450 is one of the heavier 450s, the weight doesn't really impact its performance.

2017 marks the third year of Suzuki's choice of launch system, called S-HAC, which is very similar to what factory Suzuki racers use. Suzuki's S-HAC is still the only system on the market with a mode that actually increases power to the rear wheel. The system has three modes: Standard, A and B. Standard is the factory default mode (can be changed and customized to suit driver preference). A-mode is designed for hard surfaces or slippery conditions. It slows down time to soften the impact, making it easier to find traction. Ignition timing returns to standard after 1.2 seconds or as soon as you shift into third gear. B-mode is for conditions with good grip or when a more aggressive strike is required. In this mode, the timing is increased to account for the increased throttle and stronger acceleration from the base. Ignition timing returns to standard when the throttle is closed, 4.5 seconds after starting, or when shifting into fourth gear. B-mode is what sets Suzuki's system apart from all the rest.

Suzuki's RM-Z450 has smooth power delivery that makes it easy to drive for a wide range of people.

The Showa SFF-Air fork eliminates the need for coil springs and instead relies on air pressure, allowing the spring rate to be adjusted for any size rider by adding or subtracting air using a hand pump. Showa's SFF-Air fork consists of three separate air chambers. The inner chamber is under high pressure and is the source of the main reaction force. This chamber replaces a conventional spring. The balance chamber is a small cylinder located at the bottom of the right fork and is the opposite reaction of the main chamber. This is also high blood pressure. Riders typically run the same or slightly lower air pressure in the main chamber than in the inner chamber. An outer air chamber sits outside the inner chamber, providing additional shock absorption for improved plushness. This is a low pressure chamber and typically weighs between 5 and 10 pounds. If this sounds strange, don't worry; You are not alone. We haven't mastered this yet. The air fork system saves 2.5 pounds on the front end of the bike and adds a ton of on-the-fly adjustment. At the rear, the Suzuki uses a Showa anti-shock shock absorber that has high/low speed compression damping adjustment as well as rebound adjustment and provides 310mm of wheel travel. So, what's new for 2021? Well, not much. The RM-Z450 gets new graphics, seat cover fit, black triple clamps and black wheels. This is not a very long list.

As the RM-Z450 celebrates its 10th anniversary with the same old styling, we think it's time for an update.

BOTTOM LINE The 2017 Suzuki RM-Z450 looks identical to the 2021 model. This isn't surprising since it's basically the same car. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. The Suzuki is well liked by most of our testers. It doesn't have anything amazing to offer, but it remains one of the best turning machines in the 450cc class. Test riders who were looking for stronger traction and stronger hits preferred the white clutch due to its slightly more aggressive feel, but most riders were happy with the standard clutch. As one of the heaviest 450 motocross machines on the market, stopping power is not the RM-Z's strong suit. This is definitely an area that needs attention. The clutch has a nice feel and action, but tends to fade abruptly once it gets warm, requiring constant adjustment. More than one tester experienced crawling forward at the start while the lever was pulled. Other things to keep an eye on are the chain slider and the rear chainguide rubber. They seem to wear out quickly and we didn't catch it until it was metal on metal. Suzuki is one of the only manufacturers to equip its 450 motocross bikes with ring rings, which helps extend the life of the stock sprockets. The test people at Dirt Bike vary greatly in age, height, and weight, so being able to customize the machine is extremely important to us. The Suzuki has zero adjustability compared to conventional lever and bar height options. Suzuki needs to fix this. With the stock settings, our faster riders felt that the Showa Triple Air fork went through its travel too quickly, and on successive hits it tended to rev up and stay too low in travel, causing the bike to bounce or head shake. It was easy to fix though. We added air to the main chamber, allowing the fork to ride higher in its stroke and resist downward shock during impact. We also increased the air in the balance chamber at the bottom of the right fork, but kept it 3 pounds less than the main chamber. This made him move higher in the beat. We got 7 pounds in the low pressure chamber, mostly because we couldn't find a pressure that worked noticeably better or worse. We increased the rebound by one click for a slightly faster return action and added two clicks to the compression which increased its bottoming resistance. Our final settings were as follows: Main Camera: 188 lbs Balance Camera: 185 lbs. Low Pressure Chamber: 7 lbs. Bounce: 16 out Squeeze: 16 out We ran the shock relatively close to the stock's setup. The bounce was set to 104mm and we clicked on the bounce to slow down the action. When it comes to styling, we really like the look of the RM-Z450, but we agree that Suzuki needs to update it. We might see a new look for 2021. 2017 SUZUKI RM-Z450 Engine Type: 4-Stroke, Liquid Cooled, Single Cylinder, DOHC Engine Capacity: 449cc Bore and Stroke: 96.0mm x 62.1mm Fuel Delivery: EFI Fuel Capacity: 1.6 gallons Light Coil: No Spark Arrestor: No EPA Legal: No Rolling Weight, Without Fuel: 237 Wheelbase: 1495mm (58.9″) Ground Clearance : 325 mm (12.8″) Seat height: 955 mm (37.6″) Tire size and type: Front 80/100-21 51M Bridgestone Rear 110/90-19 62M Bridgestone Suspension: Front: inverted telescopic, air spring, oil damped Rear Part: Rod Type, Coil Spring, Oil Lubricated Country of Origin: Japan Suggested Retail Price: $8,749. It can compete with any other bike on the track. The bottom-end power is very good, but the best thing is that it doesn't have the sudden, sharp pickup that wears out owners of the 2009 CRF450 and 2010 YZ450F. It delivers power smoothly and feels good in the mid-range. From 7000 to 9000 rpm the engine does not show the greatest power, but is only slightly inferior to the dyno monsters. But after 9000 rpm, the 2011 Suzuki RM-Z450 surprised Motocross Action experts the most. They confidently expected the Suzuki to rev hard to the rev limiter and to sap power faster than the Titanic. But that's not true! The 2011 Suzuki RM-Z450 rides on top a la KTM, and that's a compliment. The combination of measured bottom-end power, solid mid-range pickup and impressive top end makes the Suzuki RM-Z450 competitive for the first time in several years. The character of the power can be called sleepy, it is not impressive at first glance, but when on the highway the fence posts rush past as if in a fog, you realize that you are flying.

Motorcycle Suzuki GS 450L 198 review

The description of the Suzuki GS 450L 198 motorcycle is in the queue for publication of the article. Announcement: Today, for almost every new motorcycle that comes into being, marketers strive to carve out their own niche. This one is a road sport, this one is a recreational enduro. But what class should we include a motorcycle that has a little bit of everything? A good bike should have a reliable engine, comfortable ergonomics and simple controls...

Suzuki GS 450L is a rare motorcycle in Russia equipped with a high-power 44 hp engine. Despite the fact that good models of motorcycles have a very respectable price, and the season for their use is relatively short, the motorcycle market is developing rapidly. And if you believe the words of dealers, then some models of recently released motorcycles are selling like hot cakes at the beginning of the season, and the models brought to Russia are clearly not enough to fully satisfy consumer demand.

A motorcycle has long ceased to be an alternative to a car, and the times when this equipment was bought only because there was not enough money for a full-fledged car are forgotten. Nowadays, two-wheelers can be called technological marvels in many cases, and their cost can be compared with that of prestigious cars.

Many people have started buying motorcycles for hobby purposes as riding or even collecting them has become a good pastime for many people. Many motorcycles, for example the Suzuki GS 450L, whose technical characteristics make it possible to call the model a prestigious brand, are in demand among both beginners and experienced motorcyclists.

Currently, it is impossible to purchase a new Suzuki GS 450L motorcycle of the 198th model year, since their production stopped 1818 years ago. At the same time, the Suzuki GS 450L has excellent technical characteristics, so many people strive to purchase, if not a new, then at least a used version.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of 448 cc. see, appeared as a result of long work of inventors who sought to create a model that was not inferior in characteristics to other versions of the motorcycle. In some cases, these models are not only not inferior, but also ahead of other motorcycles, as they have minimal fuel consumption and other excellent parameters.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of more than 400 kb. cm, which includes the Suzuki GS 450L - this category of motorcycles simply cannot claim the title of “motorcycle for a beginner.” On the contrary, this is already a serious technique that requires certain control of motorcycle equipment with a smaller engine capacity. Yes, she attracts more attention, she is the most beautiful, fast, interesting and there is a huge selection of models. But as power increases, the weight of the motorcycle inevitably increases. In this class you are unlikely to find motorcycles lighter than 180 kg, unless they are the latest motorcycle models.
