Motorcycle equipmentUnusual equipment
Unlike motorists, whose safety is given great importance even at the design stage of a car, a motorcyclist does not feel this support and is forced to resolve issues of his safety on his own for an additional fee.
And this safety is ensured by the motorcycle rider’s equipment, which serves not only to protect in case of a road accident, but also protects the owner from natural disasters.
And now, when the biker movement has reached unprecedented proportions, equipment has also become a means of self-expression. The clear favorite in performing all these functions is the motorcycle helmet, which is a mandatory means of passive safety for motorcyclists in many countries around the world. On the modern market, the choice of motorcycle helmets is very wide, but there are not too many representatives of the domestic industry in this range.
The “Predator” motorcycle helmet has deservedly become one of the brightest representatives of domestic motorcycle helmets . Produced by Russian motorcycle studios NLO Moto (Nlo-Moto) from Moscow and Nitrinos (Nitrinos) from Tolyatti, as well as some folk craftsmen.
Helmets from all manufacturers differ in structure and technology. The helmet is widely popular not only among domestic bikers, but also among foreign ones.
Helmet review
The Predator motorcycle helmet was developed in 2010 and officially patented by state patent No. 136302 dated April 23, 2013. The production of motorcycle helmets is organized on the basis of the Nitrinos motorcycle studio itself.
The helmet is handmade and has many options, allowing each helmet released by the studio to be almost unique.
The design of the helmet is an original design of a composite shell with carbon fiber reinforcement. The layer of damping materials is standard and consists of a foam base and removable internal parts.
The helmet is equipped with various types of visors (protective glasses). Unfortunately, the visor cannot be opened on the go, since it is opened with both hands. To increase rider comfort, it is equipped with a two-channel adjustable under-helmet ventilation system. The weight of the basic version of the motorcycle helmet is 1820 grams.
The Predator offers a slightly different helmet design. The design also has patent No. 143626 dated May 15, 2014 and is made on the basis of a standard motorcycle helmet with a cast “Predator” protective mask, welded into a standard helmet and not violating its safety characteristics.
An unusual helmet looks good on drivers of sports motorcycles, like the Yamaha R6, the technical characteristics of which you can find out in our article.

Varieties of the Predator helmet
The basis for the “Predator” line of motorcycle helmets from the Nitrinos studio is its basic version, which is characterized by the following indicators:
- Sizes : XS 53-54 cm.
- S 55-56 cm.
- M 57-58 cm.
- L 59-60 cm.
- XL 61-62 cm.
- XXL 63-64 cm.
- Color : matte black.
- Visor : light.
- Dreadlocks : 22 pcs., length 34 cm.
- Weight : 1820 g
The basic version can be given an almost unique look with the help of additional upgrades.
Additional options include:
- LED module . It consists of three red LEDs built into the helmet body on the right side. Switching on is done by a button located at the bottom of the helmet. Connects to two AAA batteries.
- Laser module . It consists of three red lasers in a single housing, built into the helmet body on the right side. Switching on is done by a button located at the bottom of the helmet. Powered by two AAA batteries.
- Painting with one color . Additionally, the motorcycle helmet is painted in any color at the request of the customer.
- Additional dark visor . In addition to the light one, you can order a replaceable dark visor for sun protection.
- Additional mirror visor . In addition to the light visor, you can order an interchangeable mirror visor to change the style of the helmet.
- Tips for dreadlocks made of carbon.
- Kevlar dreadlock tips . Available in three colors - red, orange and blue.
- Engraving . The external design of the helmet can be complemented by engraving of scars, hieroglyphs, painted in red or silver paint. In addition, the motorcycle studio can produce engravings according to customer sketches.
- Carbon version of the helmet . Additionally, the helmet can be covered with a layer of carbon fiber followed by the application of colorless varnish, which significantly changes the appearance of the helmet.
- Airbrush . Produced manually by motorcycle studio specialists. Several design options are offered. Design according to the customer’s individual sketch is possible.
- Volumetric fangs . Two versions of the plastic fangs are glued onto the bottom of the helmet, adding to the overall design of the helmet.
- Carbon version of the helmet with carbon fangs.
In turn, it offers several models of Predator helmets:
- Predator Berserker . The basis of the helmet is the HJC motorcycle helmet. The helmet has a visor that can be opened with one hand, 17 dreadlocks made of foam rubber, and a double casing with an additional damping layer. The helmet weighs 2.2 kilograms.
- Predator 3 ; The basis of the helmet is a Nolan motorcycle helmet. The helmet has a one-handed visor, 20 nylon dreadlocks, a double fiberglass shell and carbon reinforcement. The helmet weighs 2.1 kilograms.
- Predator 4 . Restyling of the Predator 3 model. Parameters and characteristics are saved. Changes affected the external design of the helmet.
Thus, models differ from each other in the model of the base helmet, color scheme, number and length of dreadlocks (cords hung on the back of the helmet) and cost. A special feature of helmets from the NLO-MOTO studio is the easily opening visor, which when opened plunges into the body of the helmet.

The popularity of motorcycles in Russia is growing. At the opening of the motorcycle season in any city you can find very expensive and sometimes exclusive pieces of equipment. However, it is not only the marginalized who are now in the game. The country's motorcycle fleet is growing with not too expensive, mostly used, bikes. The popularity is quite explainable by the intoxicating feeling of speed and freedom that a two-wheeled car gives to its owner. In megacities traffic jams, the motorcyclist is provided with better maneuverability. Again, ease of parking is an important factor. As a result, there is an increase in the consumption of various types of equipment. When it comes to safety, there is no point in saving. People order almost all their “equipment” abroad. However, there are pleasant exceptions. Let's talk about them.
Out of the blue, I received an invitation to see how motorcycle helmets are made. The Discovery Channel has probably already closed this topic, but not in Russia! And although there are enough fans of the “Predator” franchise mentioned in the title all over the globe, probably only here could the Predator helmet be created! Appreciate the inexcusability of hyperbole
Question in passing: do you know how iPhones are made? In addition to the large Chinese factory city of Foxconn, there are a bunch of small companies and companies that are not directly involved in production, but are riveting everything necessary for the normal functioning of the giant practically on their knees. From signs and signs to lockers in changing rooms. It’s unlikely that anyone would even see these workshops, balancing on the brink of cost, if there weren’t now a strong Internet in every village and developed tourism. Small businesses, vigorously throwing on the yoke and using any available equipment, are dragging China forward to success. Taxes in this niche are minimal and there has not been and will not be a task to spread rot. In our country, such a situation is difficult to even imagine. Although... What am I talking about?
I can’t help but share this quote: “Do you know what kind of winter craft the Swiss peasants had? - Watch. The mechanism was like this. Swiss businessmen knew how and to whom to sell watches. Swiss watchmakers could design watches. Swiss production organizers knew how to distribute work among the peasants. The peasants grazed cows in the summer, and in the winter they had a lot of free time, which they spent on making watch parts. Effective production rested on a body of knowledge and skills distributed among the masses of the people. Some were good at making springs, others sharpened axles inimitably. It is important that these masses had incentives to improve themselves, acquire this knowledge and work hard. It is obvious that these incentives were not killed by confiscatory taxes, the insecurity of accumulated wealth, or the incorrect system of social hierarchy." I hope it is now clear where the famous Swiss quality came from. In our country, the beginning of 2013 was marked by a doubling of the insurance premium for individual entrepreneurs, as a result of which 7% (about 300 thousand) of entrepreneurs left the business.
It is obvious that a small production that produces an exclusive can remain afloat only due to the widest possible coverage of the target audience. Nowadays, only the Internet allows us to realize such breadth. Ordering online has not bothered either the seller or the buyer for a long time. E-bay replaced the nearest flea market for us. So our heroes are actively moving on the Internet, where it is especially important to competently defend their own interests. It’s now easier than ever to stake out a place in the online space. Quote a name or create a group on social networks and you already claim the proud title of a pioneer. But an obstacle to success can be a bunch of clever resellers who appeared on social networks a little earlier. And it doesn’t matter anymore who created the idea and who copied and pasted it. The number of likes determines authenticity. This is not a joke, this is not a complaint, this is a statement of the direction of movement. Defective, but what can you do? It’s nice that our compatriots have not forgotten how to separate the wheat from the chaff, unlike all the “Zuckerbergs”. If the guys from Nitrinos managed to defend their good name on VKontakte, then they still have to work with Facebook.
The box often shows people who picked up an idea hanging in the air and turned it into reality with their own hands. Should we perceive them as carriers of a “success story” or perhaps as simple hard workers who were led to success by painstaking and hard work? Rather, the first will turn out to be an invariable consequence of the second.
So the Nitrinos studio. These guys created in 2010 and have been producing the “Predator 2” motorcycle helmet, a unique design, for three years now. The main order channel is orders via the Internet; helmets are delivered all over the world. The author of the idea and founder of the Nitrinos studio, Arkady Zagorovsky, decided to tell and show how the Predator was born.
The IXS HX540 purchased in Europe was chosen as a donor helmet. Why it was needed will become clear below. Being a standard full-face helmet, it is available in 6 sizes xs, s, m, l, xl, xx. But in fact, upon disassembly, interesting details emerge. The outer shell (crust, shell) is presented in only two sizes. Foam inserts are also available in two sizes. And the remaining sizes are formed by soft inserts of different thicknesses, consisting of foam rubber or a material with properties very similar to it. They create tight contact between the helmet and the head.
1.
2. It’s funny to watch how a new and fresh as an orange helmet, covered in stickers and protective nameplates, goes straight out of the box for disassembly.
3. The gutting process goes very quickly, like disassembling a Kalashnikov assault rifle by an experienced military man.
4. One of the most difficult procedures is removing the foam insert.
5. The helmet is disassembled and ready for use. Almost all spare parts are used. Even the original “crust” can be used as a designer planter. Who doesn't have violets attached?
6. In profile, the Predator is almost no different from a regular integral helmet. Except that the chin arch is pushed forward, a little reminiscent of a motocross helmet. The carbon shell is the most successful ratio of weight and strength in our time.
7. The visors removed from the helmet await their further fate.
8. Visors for the Predator are made from original ones. Since the shape of the helmet is very unique, the guys had to tinker to develop a convenient and reliable mount. In addition to the usual light visors, you can order a choice of dark, color, mirror. When looking at the visor, a reasonable question arises: what about visibility? Of course it is less than the standard one. How much this interferes is another question and it depends on the use of the equipment. The professionals from OBMORROK Racing don't mind at all.
9. The image of a predator is unthinkable without dreadlocks around the circumference of the back of the head.
10. View from the inside.
11. Dreadlocks are glued in and do not interfere even at high speeds. But if you apply force, they can still be torn out of their seats. This situation was deliberately modeled by the authors of the helmet for the safety of the owner in case of an unsuccessful fall, when the dreadlocks could get caught on an obstacle or a motorcycle.
12.
13. Carbon tips for dreadlocks taken out of the mold. The latter is one of the original developments of the authors. Not allowed to be shown.
14. Nitrinos offer several options for the external design of the helmet. One of them is ordinary black, with traces of scratches and/or original hieroglyphs.
15.
16.
17. It is possible to use fluorescent paint, which gives the helmet additional charm in the evening and at night.
18.
Our strength always lies in authority. Having made the first predator, Arkady went for a ride. I was interested in the reaction to the helmet. But this predator is not some kind of Batman, and even boys drinking beer, not to mention grown men behind the wheel, don’t dare to mess with him. As a result, the author received a ton of positive karma from all segments of the motorcycle population.
19. The photo shows a half-finished shell of the first version of the helmet. There was a customer who demanded exactly it.
20. First Predator.
21. And from this shell, similar to an “alien” egg, the crust of a predator hatches.
22. The process of gluing the crust is quite long. At the initial stage, the so-called “black gel” is used, although Arkady, due to some features, prefers gray.
23. A thin layer of this gel is applied to the pre-waxed mold. After drying, it creates an excellent base for gluing the crust on one side and applying paint on the other. Next are layers of carbon and fiberglass, which are impregnated with resin. Resin is Finnish. Carbon - Japanese. Globalization has quietly come to our little sheds.
24. Due to the complexity of the shape, the overall process is labor intensive. After being removed from the mold, the crust is trimmed and processed. Volumetric teeth are formed by an additional insert.
25. Shell ready for painting.
26. Next, the secret of mastery is simple. You need an Artist with a capital A. In our case, this is Anna Lubyagina, winner of the 2012 “Master of Airbrush” competition. And a compressor. Just a compressor.
27. While the crust is going through the process of applying primer and a base coat of paint, Anna agrees on the sketch with the customer and begins work.
28. Continuation of the artist’s hands – airbrushes.
29. By my visit, the helmet was in the final stages of painting. A little tweaking was needed.
30.
31.
32.
33. Almost finished, but not yet varnished helmet.
34. Applying a logo.
35.
36. The work on executing the customer's original design is almost complete. On the right, another helmet awaits its unique design.
37. You can look at the artist’s work endlessly! But it's time to return to the workshop.
38. The crust, ready after applying several layers of varnish, is returned to the assembly, where dreadlocks and air ducts are installed on it. Below is one of them for blowing the visor.
39. Installation location of the ventilation valve.
40. Installation of lasers. The Predator uses low-power, retina-safe lasers.
41. They look amazing!
42. And they may well be replaced by conventional LEDs. But the laser option looks much cooler.
43. The laser block is placed on the resin.
44. After drying, the final assembly of the helmet is performed. The air intake valves are attached. They are borrowed from the donor's helmet and open and close freely with gloves.
45. Installation of foam insert. It sticks to the crust in several places.
46. The straps are riveted.
47. Installation of the chin part.
48. Two AAA batteries are hidden under the right cheek pad of the helmet. The button to turn on the laser/LED unit is located on the bottom of the helmet.
49. Installing the visor seal
50. And finally the visor itself.
51. The helmet is ready and sent to its customer.
52.
53. From crust to finished product.
54. The black version, although not as demanding on the customer’s wallet, looks no less stylish.
55.
In conclusion, I would like to thank the entire creative team of the Nitrinos studio for the invitation. The author of the article and photo is Dmitry Ruzov. Tolyatti

A very interesting example from Kawasaki, which is positioned by the company as the best motorcycle for beginners, can be found at:.
With your own hands
Due to the popularity of the “Predator” motorcycle helmet, many articles have appeared on the Internet describing how to independently make such a helmet.
A standard helmet is taken as a basis, covered with papier-mâché paper, and on top of this, using plasticine, it is given the shape of the front part of a “Predator” helmet. Then the plasticine mold is covered with fiberglass and impregnated with epoxy glue.
After drying, the mold is removed from the donor helmet and modified to its final form. After painting the manufactured mask and the main helmet, the mask is put on the helmet and secured.
The main function of a helmet is to protect the motorcyclist’s head in a traffic accident. Protection from wind, rain and other negative influences while driving is also an important function of a motorcycle helmet. Therefore, we do not recommend making a motorcycle helmet yourself for your safety.
A beautiful helmet can create a unique image for its owner, distinguishing him from the monotonous stream of “steel horse” lovers.
How to make a Predator motorcycle helmet with your own hands
Since the Predator motorcycle helmet is very popular and many people really like it, but there is no desire to spend so much money on it, you can go ahead and make a Predator motorcycle helmet with your own hands. To begin with, take a base in the form of an ordinary helmet, then you need to paste it over with paper, then take plasticine and sculpt the desired shape of the Predator and glue this plasticine onto the paper, after that you need to paste over this plasticine form with fiberglass and impregnate it with epoxy glue.
Then you need to wait until everything is dry, and you can further refine the appearance, finish it, trim it with sandpaper. Then you need to paint this mask and attach it to the helmet. But we must not forget that a helmet is needed to protect the head during a fall; the helmet also protects from wind and rain. Therefore, the basic properties of the helmet should not be lost. And unusual appearance is not the main thing, the main thing is safety. But with such a helmet you can certainly scare other road users.
Method of making the Predator Helmet from the NLO-Moto studio
Unlike the Nitrinos technology, where the protective shell of the motorcycle helmet is removed and replaced with the body of the Predator, UFO-Moto took a different path and developed its own know-how for the new Berserker Predator model and patented it.
The manufacturing method is as follows: a motorcycle helmet certified to DOT and ECE safety standards is taken as a basis, and the outer shape of the Predator is layered on top of it using special equipment, made of lightweight and durable plastic. The result is a double-layer shell that maintains safety by completely preserving the helmet inside.
We bring to your attention a review of the “Berserker Predator” motorcycle helmet from NLO-Moto. A detailed analysis, as well as an autopsy of the patient, gives us a complete understanding of the structure, components, and most importantly, the reliability of this helmet. We recommend viewing.

But it opens with a button and slides into the body. In a UFO-moto helmet you can open the visor while moving, which you cannot do in a nitrinos.

Interesting article! Only the prices are very different from those indicated on the website. And the most important thing is that Nlomoto does not make a helmet, but makes a mask, which is also indicated in the “PROTECTIVE MASK” patent. Nitrinos produces a full-fledged helmet made of composite, just like ARAY.
The names of the products are the same, but the principle is completely different and calling a mask a helmet is not correct!

Pavel, prices are now jumping a lot due to the crisis, we don’t have time to edit them. Regarding the mask and helmet, the point is that NLO-Moto produces a mask, correctly, but it is attached over a full-fledged motorcycle helmet. And they call the assembled finished product the Predator helmet, which is why it’s written that way in the article. The buyer does not receive a helmet mask, but a finished product.

Helmet options and costs
Additional helmet options from Nitrinos include:
LED or laser module
Featuring 3 red, blue, green or orange LEDs, it creates a unique feature of the original Predator, which scared everyone with its terrifying sight. The LED version of guidance is turned off by a button located on the helmet itself. In order to get this option, it is enough to pay an additional 500 rubles.
You can also install a more modern laser module costing 3,600 rubles. In this case, the light will be less scattered. The lasers “hit” far, creating a completely realistic illusion.
The operation of the lighting elements in both cases is carried out using 2 AAA batteries.
Painting and airbrushing
Although the basic helmet looks very stylish, you can give it additional individuality by completely painting it. In this case, the surface can be matte or rough. The most popular are white and black metallic.
The cost of this add-on is 3,300 rubles.
In addition, you can use the services of an airbrush artist who can create any unique design, as in the photo above. In this case, you will have to pay more - 14,200 rubles, but the result is simply fantastic.
Visors
By default, the helmet is equipped with ordinary motorcycle “glasses” that do not protect the eyes from the sun. In this case, you can equip the helmet with dark visors, costing 2,500 rubles. If you want to enhance the effectiveness of an already unusual helmet, you can order mirrored “glasses”, which also perfectly protect from the sun and add more mystery to the image. In this case, you will have to pay an additional 3,100 rubles.
Tips for dreadlocks
The famous “braids” can be supplemented with carbon or Kevlar tips. In the first case, 22 hand-made black items are varnished, making them a perfect complement to dreadlocks. The cost of such tips is 3,800 rubles.
If you give preference to Kevlar products, you can choose the color yourself. Such tips will cost about 4,200 rubles.
Engravings
If you remember the film, the main alien villain periodically put scratches on his helmet, symbolizing the number of enemies killed. Such an interesting nuance will give the helmet more realism. The scars themselves can be covered with red or silver paint.
In addition, alien hieroglyphs or any other symbols can be applied to the top of the helmet. The cost of such a service will be about 1,000 rubles.
Fangs
If you really want to try on the guise of a real monster from the film, you can add these aggressive elements to the helmet for 1,000 rubles. The embossed fangs protruding from the helmet can scare any enemy on the road.
In addition, you can order a carbon version of the protective accessory, which will cost 12,600 rubles. Additionally, the accessory is coated with colorless varnish.
Thanks to such interesting ideas, protecting your head from impacts when falling from a motorcycle becomes not only a grim necessity, but a real lifestyle. After all, everyone dreams of being in the body of their favorite film character at least once.
