Technical characteristics of the kawasaki zzr 600 motorcycle

Often, when considering the options for choosing a motorcycle, especially the first one, a novice rider wants to get the maximum impressions and opportunities from his new acquisition. There is an irresistible desire to immediately saddle up the bike and rush off into the sunset to the ends of the world. However, often the financial side of the issue makes its own adjustments and somewhat sobers the heated spirit of the newly minted motorcyclist. It is logical that many, as their first two-wheeled vehicle, instead of top-end ultra-modern and high-tech iron horses, are considering options among the secondary market offers, time-tested motorcycles that have earned recognition among motorcyclists around the world. We will look at one of these in more detail.

“Kawasaki-ZZR-600” is a motorcycle that has faithfully served several generations of riders. It has been produced in various variations since 1989. This alone suggests that the bike turned out to be very successful. Kawasaki ZZR 600 is a representative of the “sport touring” motorcycle class. The sports component is reflected in the fact that the model can accelerate to one hundred kilometers per hour in just four seconds.

Tourist qualities are presented in the form of a more comfortable landing than in “sports”, a wide and softer seat, which is comfortable for both the driver and the second number. In addition, it is possible to install a pannier system, which significantly adds carrying capacity, so necessary on a long journey. This motorcycle allows you to quickly and comfortably cover up to 500 kilometers per day if the road surface is of acceptable quality.

Engine

The motorcycle is equipped with a good engine. In terms of its type, it is very common - in-line, four-stroke and four-cylinder. Its working volume is 599 cm³. The compression ratio reaches 11.8:1. The engine has four valves per cylinder, and its cooling is liquid. The fuel supply system of the Kawasaki ZZR 600 is carburetor. The ignition is electronic.

Here are the maximum characteristics of this engine: at 10,000 rpm, the torque reaches 66 Nm; at 12500 rpm the power is 112 hp. These are very respectable characteristics for a sport-touring bike, even in the 2000s. Not surprisingly, the motorcycle accelerates to 100 km/h in 3 seconds and its top speed reaches 267 km/h.

Review of the Kawasaki ZZR 600 motorcycle

Super moto! For 120-130 you can get a normal device! for that kind of money the coolest six hundred!

As for the strengths: good wind protection, 98 horses and + higher torque, less need to work with the gearbox, ease of fit, affordable price. Of the shortcomings, the same 2nd. sluggish “in my opinion, the brakes” and the light is rather weak. Although by installing xenon and reinforced hoses, this can be eliminated.

Excellent mots. I skated a season on it without any problems. If we change it, it will be to a larger volume zizer. The landing is relatively comfortable, I drove at least 800 km per day with two stops. Regarding the second transfer, the issue is very controversial. Yes, at high speeds, engaging second gear cannot be called a nearly pleasant sound, but at speeds of 20-30 km/h the shift is practically not felt. And in general, 600 cubic meters is enough to get off the second one without any problems. And secondly, the Kawasaki manual says in black and white that gear shifting is prohibited at engine speeds above 5000. So read the instructions for your bikes first. Of course, on the first one you can’t spin it comfortably up to 12,000 thousand with subsequent switching. But this is not a sport. And for a tourist, the excellent motz goes along the road like a glove.

You can’t think of a better sport tourist, it suits everything, I would like, of course, higher ground clearance, and the battery is inconvenient to install, BUT against the backdrop of the whole motorcycle as a whole, these are all little things. I changed the oil, filters, I need to change the spark plugs and rear tires, sprockets and chain.

Hello. I'll add my 5 cents:

1. How long have I owned it?

I purchased the motorcycle at the end of the 2010 season (September), it was manufactured in 1999.

2. How did he get to you? By what criteria did you choose?

I drove it myself from Voronezh (150 km from my city), I found an ad on Auto.ru. I chose a spendthrift based on the amount (I took 120-140 tr for 140) in the nearest cities based on availability (Belgorod, Kursk, Voronezh, I looked at the ads). Before this, I rode Izh-Planet-5 for 4 years, at first I wanted a sport four-hundredth, I just had my eye on the Zizer... then, as I collected money and got to know different motorcycles, my tastes changed several times, I wanted both a chopper and a classic (especially the ZR-7 of Kava ). And I wanted more cubic capacity (600-800, but not a liter), because... I became more experienced, more confident and calmer. When I saw an ad with a photo of the ZZR-600 I thought, why not? chopper is good, but old feelings woke up and I decided to take a “plastic” moto)). I went for an inspection with a friend who was more knowledgeable about motorcycles, and after receiving his approval, I took it.

3. Strengths, advantages?

In addition to the appearance (handsome by default), the model is relatively widespread (it’s not a problem to find some spare parts for the 400), quite powerful (you won’t get tired of it quickly... otherwise a friend bought a Yamaha Diversity 400 in Moscow and brought it from there ~ 600 km, he said that he had already had enough along the way and wanted more cubic capacity)))).

I would also say the size is a plus (at first I thought how huge it is, how can I handle it?) but after driving I realized how comfortable it is, and similar 600s (CBR, R6) now seem small.

4. Weaknesses, disadvantages?

Again, it’s plastic - it will suffer if it falls, it’s quite expensive to maintain, as it turns out (for the same consumables... well, depending on what you’re comparing it to). I recently bought a car 2115 - the consumables for it are much cheaper))

5. What do you miss about it?

Well, maybe off-road capability.. (sand, etc.). And how can I put it more delicately... sometimes there’s a little lack of pretentiousness... not that I like to attract glances, but it’s nice sometimes to strut down the street imposingly, and not get shot at))

6. What do you use it for most often (long-distance driving, city trips, etc.)

Around the city more often + I ride on suburban roads, sometimes intercity (up to 150 km). There hasn’t been a more serious long-range attack yet, I hope there will be one in the future. season.

7. How often did you have to repair it?

From the moment of purchase and during the next season of operation (2011) - I changed the oil and filter, at the beginning of 2011 the clutch began to slip - I changed the discs, ordered a rod that rotates and separates the discs (it was worn out). Changed the front brake pads. What else... for the winter of 2011/12 I want to change the chain and sprockets for the next season. I already bought the chain, I’m waiting for the stars. I let a friend sit on it, he tried to move and immediately dropped it, as a result - the turn signal was broken. I ordered a new one, it has already arrived. Probably also to the next. season you will have to buy a new battery and top up the oil (it’s not like it’s consuming it, it’s spilled when replacing the clutch). I would also like to synchronize the carburetors... oh, yes, I cleaned them one more time after filling them with low-quality fuel.

8. What are the most common faults?

While no frequent ones have been identified, all are one-time occurrences. The gearbox works fine, although the clutch needs to be adjusted again - when hot it moves a little, low gears are a bit difficult to engage.

9. Try to compare with other models that you have used.

As cool as my Izh-Planet-5!!! lol)) I rode the V-Max for a bit - it’s so clumsy, although powerful. For driving in a straight line - the center is very high, tends to fall over, vibrates, the landing after the ZZR did not seem very comfortable. It is difficult to compare different classes, but the zizer is more familiar and familiar. I rode a little on the Vulcan-800 and Intruder-1400 choppers. What can I say, the volcano does not drive or steer, the intruder simply does not steer, does not fit into turns (the ZZR spoiled me). They had no wind protection (they had no windshields). The main advantage of choppers is their appearance, they are beautiful and shiny... But they lack dynamics. My friend’s Honda CB-750 was probably more convenient than the others, but I also drove it a little and, unfortunately, not very successfully ((

10. Are you going to change and for what? For what reason?

I'm not going to yet. If I change it, it won’t be the same. season for sure and I don’t know for what yet. Everyone likes it. My soul asks for a chopper - I realized that what I value in motorcycles is not the speed, but the motorcycles themselves)) And if I change it, then for something more recent, I would cite age as the reason. I wish I was younger. I like the Shadow 1100, the Vulcan-800-900, the Yamaha and Kava roadies (fazer, z750)... And I like the ZZR in everything.

11. What else can you say?

What can I say in summary? Great device! I gave it an 8 rating in the voting because... I think 10 is an absolute ideal, but there are some shortcomings everywhere. Adequate well-deserved high rating. Servicing any Japanese will probably be more expensive than servicing LADA, so here it is... if you like to ride... love and ride).

We must also remember that zizer is not an evil sport, but a tourist. I don’t drive aggressively, I don’t turn it too hard... Although depending on my mood, on a good country road you can shoot. It pulls like a locomotive and holds the road confidently.

This is how the report/review/story turned out. Maybe it will help someone make a choice. Smooth roads to everyone, no nails, no rods!

Dimensions and weight

The weight of the bike with fuel already filled is 197 kg. That's pretty average for a sports tourer, especially considering the number of bags. The gas tank capacity reaches 18 liters. More is not needed, given that approximately 5.4 liters are spent per 100 km of road. However, this value largely depends on the load on the bike. The rear tire size of the ZZR 600 is 180/55 ZR17, and the front tire dimensions are 120/65 ZR17.

Appearance

The ZZR 600 looks quite simple, but tasteful - laconic design, sporty style, double or single exhaust pipe. The driver's back remains straight while driving, which helps not to get tired during long hauls. The quality of workmanship and assembly of components and assemblies, as well as elements of plastic cladding, is excellent, which is not surprising for motorcycles from famous Japanese motorcycle manufacturers.

Chassis and brakes

The bike is equipped with an aluminum frame. It has an unobtrusive appearance and does not catch the eye. And many will find only advantages in this circumstance, because for such a motorcycle nothing more is needed. The alloy wheels of this model are very simple in shape. The steering wheel is comfortable and of standard sizes.

The rear suspension is a pendulum version with a monoshock absorber, with all adjustments. At the front there is a telescopic fork with dimensions of 41 mm. All adjustments are also available. The rear brakes are a 220mm disc with a single-piston caliper. The front brakes are two discs, each 280 mm with six-piston calipers.

Approximate prices

The cost of the new Kawasaki ZX-6R motorcycle is about 615,300 rubles.
When buying a used motorbike, the price can vary greatly depending on the condition of the chassis and the integrity of the appearance, as well as the mileage.

On average, a used Kawasaki ZX-6R can be purchased from 100,000 rubles.

Nowadays Kawasaki motorcycles are very advanced and they are not afraid of any obstacles. I own a Kawasaki Ninja 600 myself and am absolutely delighted with its power.

I have always dreamed of riding an iron horse; I relatively recently received a license to drive a motorcycle. I rushed between models for a long time and finally bought a Kawasaki, shelled out enough money and don’t regret it one bit. The motorcycle fully met my expectations, and even exceeded it in some ways.
