Exterior of Harley-Davidson Iron 883
Designed and slightly modified, which affected the appearance, the bike was made predatory and dynamic. This motorcycle was produced in several colors. This Harley-Davidson Iron 883 motorcycle, according to many, looks better in black. Its stocky and elongated appearance speaks of the perky manner of this bike. This Harley-Davidson Iron 883 bike perfectly combines style and build quality.
The teardrop-shaped gas tank, short fenders and custom engine are imbued with the spirit of retrofitting. The bike has an updated brake system that quickly responds to the rider's pressure, which greatly improves control on any road surface in any situation. The look of the motorcycle is harsh, painted in dark colors. The wheels are also dark, made of aluminum alloys.
Interior of Harley-Davidson Iron 883
This Harley-Davidson Iron 883 bike is made quite charismatically. Sitting on it, you feel like the hero of a Hollywood movie. The motorcycle is conducive to aggressive advancement - 883 cc. an air-cooled engine that accelerates quite quickly from very low revs, a landing position that promotes predatory viewing of any clearance between cars in dense city driving.
Of course, this Harley-Davidson Iron 883 bike is a classic US motorcycle, slightly modified. There simply won’t be a person who will simply walk past this bike and not look at it with admiration. Compact, light weight, quite comfortable in everything. The safety of the motorcycle is ensured thanks to the anti-lock structure. In addition, the bike has updated ergonomic and comfortable control devices.
Harley-Davidson Iron 883 is dynamic and maneuverable, the frame is reinforced with a double frame with thin pipes, it is made in a classic style.
Technical features
As you can easily guess from the name of the model, the engine of the device has a displacement of 883 cm3. Of course, V-twin, what doubt can there be? This is HD!
The 5-speed gearbox has some features. Many owners note that gears shift with a knock. But this cannot be clearly attributed to shortcomings - many Americans joke, and for HD it has even become a kind of feature. And in general, against the background of the roar of the engine, all other sounds simply fade away.
The motorcycle is standardly equipped with a pretty good braking system. Both wheels have double disc brakes, and if the pilot hones his control skills, he will be able to stop the bike in a matter of moments. You can use one of the brakes, rather than a pair, but this is very difficult. The weight of the motorcycle is insufficient for this maneuver; it will skid. The manufacturer provides the buyer with the opportunity to install an ABS system upon purchase, of course, for an additional fee.
The suspension remained firm but reliable. Owners note that at first it may seem uncomfortable, but you can get used to it. If you are thinking about purchasing this bike, please note that it has very low ground clearance. Cornering may damage the pipes or the running board. And such a feature may not be convenient for every area.
Engine Harley-Davidson Iron 883
The maximum speed of the bike is 170 km/h, but at this speed the rider is simply blown away. The engine is 4-stroke, 2-cylinder, V-shaped, the power of which is 52 “horses” at 5750 rpm. Peak torque – 70 N/m at 3750 rpm. 6-speed manual gearbox. This Harley-Davidson Iron 883 was not designed for long rides at high speed - it is designed for sharp turns, narrow city streets and aggressive driving.
And in this case, it is gorgeous - the Harley-Davidson Iron 883 picks up speed quite quickly and vigorously, leaving many motorcycles behind. But until it reaches 100 km/h, then its fast energy disappears. The bike's six-speed gearbox works well, but is quite rough; a knock is heard when shifting, but this is usually for US motorcycles. This is not noticeable in terms of practicality, and the noise of the engine and gearbox is a feature of the vehicle design.
The braking system is quite effective - there are 2 discs, 1 per wheel, they stop the bike quite well only when you use both brakes, rear and front. For quick braking with the front brake only, the Harley-Davidson Iron 883 is quite heavy, despite the fact that this model is one of the lightest in the Harley line, except for the Sportster brand. When purchasing a bike, it is possible to purchase for an additional fee. ABS structure board.
There have been some changes to the suspension, taken from the Sportster and refined a bit, but it's still stiff and practical. With these suspensions you don’t feel “floating” on the highway during sharp maneuvers. But, the small wheelbase and low weight, not very wide rear wheel mean that you feel the side wind to the fullest while moving on the Harley-Davidson Iron 883, especially when driving along the highway through open areas and fields.
But it is not advisable to ride a motorcycle on long roads, since it is not so comfortable, and it has 13 hp. the fuel tank is only enough for 200-250 km of travel without refueling the bike, this is if you don’t “gas” it too much when moving.
If you think about it, this bike is still the same Sportster, just slightly redesigned. In principle, the Harley-Davidson Iron 883 is very powerful and comfortable - a natural bully in city traffic.
The front suspension is a telescopic fork. The rear suspension is pendulum with 2 shock absorbers.
The front brake system is hydraulic disc with double piston caliper. The rear brake system is hydraulic disc with double piston caliper.
The type of intake is injection, the cooling structure is air. Power plant startup structure – el. starter.
I'll refresh the motorcycle's logbook a little, especially since I have something.
First of all, I did a normal major maintenance, after which the motorcycle rode and began to behave significantly better than before. The oil in the primer had to be changed twice. The first time was to wash off the remaining Motul, and the second time so that the oil in the box was already normal. As a result, gear shifting became very smooth and precise. Neutral began to be caught the first time. The guys on the Harley forum advised cleaning the idle speed sensor. They did so - the speed leveled out. All that remains is to check and adjust the needle, if I understood the master correctly. The same guys advised to attach the side battery cover properly. It turns out that this is a problem on sportsters and the cover often falls off on bumps. This disease is treated by fastening it through a clamp. I already had everything in order - the original rubber bands were of good quality and the lid sat in its place exactly tightly, but they still added a clamp.
The photo shows consumables for the interior. The front pads were replaced, the fork was rebuilt, and all the fluids were replaced again in a circle. We also bled both brake circuits. In general, now you can frolic.
In appearance, the motorcycle began to look 90% the way I want. Initially I liked this look and tried to achieve it.
I installed a fairing, a new headlight, original mirrors and moved the turn signals to the steering wheel. I've always wondered what it's like to have turn signals on the steering wheel. For my taste - excellent and they can be seen in car mirrors. Because they are just at their level. And the headlight, I hope, makes them visible.
The light immediately seemed dim to me. But that’s not even why I decided to change the headlight. I've always really wanted to try driving with LED lights. But I don’t like the lens headlights that are usually installed on sportsters visually. They look like a spider's eye. But suddenly, on the same Harley forum, I saw guys selling different optics. I fell in love with this reflector headlight as soon as I saw it. Also because of the cost. Only 5 thousand rubles. For comparison, a diode headlight for a Stratoliner costs about 30.
And the way it shines is beyond all praise. I rolled out into the night specifically to check how the light worked. I had never driven with diodes before, and now I felt the difference. It's very noticeable. Morning turns at night, chickens lay eggs, children get ready to go to school. I hope that the oncoming traffic does not burn out the retina.
I ordered myself a cosmetic bag for all sorts of loose bolts, Loctites and keys. I ordered from the guys in Ulyanovsk using a photo and SMS. It turned out, for my taste, very cool and budget-friendly. In Moscow, the price for this was 20 thousand rubles. In Ulyanovsk with delivery it came out to 8.5. We support a regional manufacturer =)) The bag turned out to be very comfortable and roomy. Although, at first I thought it would be less. In fact, it hides very coolly behind the shock absorber without looking like a suitcase.
Those who saw her live were divided into two camps: some really like her, while others think that she is too flashy for this motorcycle and does not fit with it at all. This may be true, but I really like it and, over time, when it gets weathered and faded in the sun, it will look even cooler. I don’t plan to remove the yoke from the back. On the contrary, I’ll add a luggage rack there so that I can carry all sorts of light little things. Still, I'm used to traveling light. I don’t want to hang my backpack back on my back anymore.
I ordered forwards from Ali. I installed them too. It has become much more comfortable to drive. And the question is not even about the original running boards with bolts, which hinder many people when moving. I’m just too tall for this motorcycle - 182 at the withers, and with my family it was a little cramped. Just right with the forwards. I'm very glad I installed them. By the way, it turned out that they are not very elongated in the front and on bumps I can stand up on them. I've checked it several times already. But of course you can’t ride in an endurance stance =))
Now you can travel a lot, often, far and long. The motorcycle, for my taste, began to look significantly better and after the maintenance, it became much more comfortable, more comfortable and safer. There is still a replacement of tires ahead, and finishing touches in appearance. I want to tear off the anniversary stickers from the lids and repaint the tank matte black, but with a different inscription. Install normal handles and replace the muffler. But those are stories for another post.
