Fans of riding along forest paths should pay attention to the Bse MX 125 pit bike. Released in 2015 , it immediately gained popularity as a teenage option, but at the same time allowing an adult of average build to ride. The brand is located in China, production is there, and the final assembly is offered to the user.
A large amount of accompanying documentation is not a problem. However, stores can take over this process themselves.
Specifications
The heart of the pit bike is a single-cylinder engine with 9 horsepower.
When presenting the new model, the Chinese admitted that the pita motor was rather weak. Those interested can change the original carburetor to a Japanese Mikuni one. According to reviews from owners, this will increase the power by 2-3 mares , but this is not certain!
The engine crankcase is covered with metal protection as standard. But from the factory the protection looks more like foil.
The rest is a regular air-cooled engine, 4 strokes, 1 cylinder.
- Working volume - 125 cm3.
- Power - 9 hp
- Number of valves - 4.
- Cooling is air.
- Fuel supply - Jing ke carburetor.
- Start - kickstarter.
- Fuel tank - 3.5 l.
Mechanics note the unpretentiousness of the fuel quality - you can pour anything, starting from 92.
Fuel tap.
Japanese carburetor.
Engine cylinder.
Transmission and clutch
The pit bike has a 4-speed gearbox. In the new edition, they installed a regular sequential gearbox - with a neutral between speeds 1 and 2. Which, in our opinion, is not entirely justified for such a cubic capacity and class of motorcycle.
- The standard clutch is multi-disc , in an oil bath.
- Power transmission is by cable.
- Drive - chain. The new edition has received a standard 420 chain (previously installed reinforced, with coating).
The upper part of the pendulum is covered with a pad to protect it from rubbing by a slack chain.
Brakes
The desire to reduce the price did not affect the braking system. Both the front and rear wheels have one brake disc .
Support - 2 pistons.
Front brakes.
Rear brakes.
The appearance and shape are the brand’s own developments for light equipment.
Pitbike BSE 125 for off-road walking
The BSE 125 pit bike is presented on the market in only three key series: PH10, DX and MX. The manufacturer traditionally names models based on engine size. The BSE PH10-125E pit bike is equipped with a 125 cm3 engine. Oddly enough, the closest competitor to the model was a bike from the same manufacturer: PH10-150E. This is a complete analogue with increased engine power up to 150 cm3, increased torque and greater weight.
The lineup
Chinese engineers produce BSE 125 in three versions:
- BSE PH10125E. Standard model with sophisticated hydraulic and suspension system.
- BSE DX 125. The model is 3 kg heavier than the base model due to the enlarged tank. Power increased to 8.8 hp.
- BSE MX 125. Almost complete analogue of the standard configuration. The appearance has been slightly modified, parts of the chassis, brake and steering parts have been replaced.
All models are relatively new, and there is no history of their development yet. But judging by the manufacturer’s other models, you shouldn’t expect any major reworking or changes to the bike. All three models had an excellent test drive by their lucky owners, as evidenced by the popularity of discussions about the BSE 125 series on thematic forums.
User reviews
The model became extremely popular due to its low cost. In fact, the bike was built on the platform of the flagship version, but with modified components. This does not allow users to fully compare it with models from other manufacturers. It is worth noting that the possibility of tuning the model is completely eliminated by the manufacturer. Users note that despite the number of licensed repair kits and the saturation of the domestic market with spare parts, it is almost impossible to transform a motorbike.
Another common complaint from users is the low power of the pit bike. BSE PH10 125 is not a professional vehicle; on the contrary, it is intended to keep athletes in shape or for off-road walking. This cannot be attributed to either advantages or disadvantages, because this is the production policy of the Chinese company.
Disadvantages and advantages of BSE 125
It is almost impossible to identify specific points from the owners’ messages. This is a fairly simple technique that is absolutely not similar to other models, so the highlighted advantages and disadvantages of the motorcycle can be called strictly subjective. Each owner emphasizes one or more benefits from the following list:
- Optimal wheelbase, as in the best models from top manufacturers.
- Relative ease of transport. There are models much lighter than the BSE 125, but they lose in power. Dry weight from 72 kg. The bse j2 250 has a bit more weight, but is also stronger.
- Already from the factory, the buyer receives bright “packaging”. The body is quite durable, although it is partially made of plastic. The plastic is solid painted, which allows it not to lose its appearance even after minor impacts or accidents.
- The cost of a bike is not much different from a professional bicycle, let alone motorcycles.
Almost every user emphasizes the disadvantages:
- All BSE 125 models are “damp”. They do not have pronounced positive qualities (power, handling or weight). A bias towards one side of technical superiority would make the model more prepared for professional use.
- Lack of tuning options. The desire to make the perfect upgrade is frustrated by the policies of the manufacturer.
- Three configurations are not enough to completely saturate the market with such equipment, because each user has his own preferences in choosing.
It is impossible to single out more serious “miscalculations” in the pit bike, because it is offered specifically to beginners who are still poorly versed in the technical part and operational features.
Technical characteristics of BSE 125
The model has virtually no electronic equipment. As with all BSE models, the engineers focused strictly on the mechanical performance of the bike. Key features of technical characteristics include:
- Engine power from 8.84 hp.
- Pendulum rear suspension.
- Fuel tank with a capacity of 3.4 to 5.2 liters.
- High quality chain trap.
- Well-designed brake system based on discs and hydraulics.
- Optimal wheelbase BSE 125, 17/14” wheels for greater ease of handling and good grip.
The recreational pit bike has a number of excellent technical features that are rarely found in motorcycles in its price category.
If you want to easily overcome potholes, holes, sand, snow, mud and wetlands, then you are better off choosing an all-terrain vehicle. Which is better, a pit bike or an ATV specifically for you, is up to you to decide.
Design BSE MX 125
The pit bike is positioned as a budget option, so the main material used in production is steel. The frame is assembled from two parts - the frame itself and the subframe. The latter is screwed from below with several bolts .
Front fork.
Rear shock absorber.
Subframe under the seat.
Steel frame.
The front fork is inverted, and the rear has a steel mono-shock absorber. The only settings are rebound adjustment . In addition, the user has several options for changing the car’s parameters after a certain mileage.
- Subframe . Those who like to rock out on one wheel know what a “ whore ” is. In a regular pita, the frame bends and is very difficult to treat. Repairing this part will be more expensive than buying a new pit.
- Air release on the fork . After active riding, a pair of bolts on the top of the fork are unscrewed, excess air escapes. This way you can restore its softness.
Design features also include the absence of a “flute” in the muffler. It’s unlikely that the neighbors will like it.
There is a towbar - a part in the rear tire that presses it to the rim, which in turn reduces the likelihood of the tube turning and the nipple coming off.
Exterior
Externally, a pit bike is not much different from its classmates. The color differs from earlier models.
The exterior of the motorcycle corresponds to its class and does not have any unnecessary plastic parts that are absolutely unnecessary for riding off asphalt. In the photo the plastic has been removed.
The new model has become a real dandy, the standard two colors (not counting leather) are chosen strictly and harmoniously. There are no colorful spots that are usually used to describe this technique.
Front end
Since there is a ban on the use of such vehicles on public roads, there are no optics, no mirrors, or any other signs on the pit.
The absence of head optics means operating the pit bike exclusively during daylight hours.
- The front fender is pulled up right under the frame. There is no fairing; a small plate with a company logo covers the upper part of the fork. The feathers are bare , there are covers at the level of the wheel, and directly next to the frame.
- The steering wheel deserves special mention. The first models had 28th pipe variable section. In development in 2017, it became narrower. 22 pipe with constant cross-section. Due to this, the diameter of the part connecting the horns decreased, and, accordingly, the cushion on it decreased.
Left handle.
Right handle.
Devices
There is usually no need to talk about the presence of instruments on a pit bike, but in the new edition of the MX 125 they went even further. After removing the headlight, there was no need for a battery. It was removed. On the other hand, the ignition switch and electric starter have disappeared, but for users of such motorcycles they are not necessary, and the weight of the model has decreased .
Of all the devices, the only one that may be present is an engine hour sensor, mounted on the frame directly under the gas tank.
a cycling computer instead of a dashboard .
Back view
The rear part differs from previous assemblies in only one way - a tighter fit of the parts.
View from above.
Narrow saddle.
Rear wing.
- The standard sharp stem for pita does not have any optics . There is a small platform on it, then the driver’s saddle. It is standard and not designed for long-term sitting. The only change is that it has become longer. Now it continues almost to the fork.
- In front of it is a standard “ lamb ” - the fuel tank filler cap. Capacity 3.5 l . Due to the lack of a battery, the tank itself went halfway down the seat.
Model features
The basis of the motorcycle is a white steel frame of increased rigidity with side supports made by casting. The drive is a reinforced 420 chain with a golden protective coating. The hubs are equipped with Japanese wheel bearings from NTN, the wheel rims are equipped with reinforced spokes, and the off-road tires are protected from rotation by the Tire Lock system on the driving rear wheel (“two nipples”).
Video pit bike BSE Lanner 150
Another technical feature is the removable DB-Killer system in the muffler, which is aimed at reducing exhaust noise. Near populated areas this is quite a useful thing.
Each model is equipped with a head light and a shield for the start number for competitions. The PH10-125e version (with the letter “e”) is equipped with an electric starter.
Driving performance
According to the developers, the maximum speed of the device is 80 km/h . However, according to GPS measurements, it is not possible to squeeze more than 70 km/h.
At the same time, the question of accelerating to 100 km/h is not raised.
Fuel consumption will allow you to travel up to 150 km on one tank . According to user reviews, even with ideal coverage, 100 is not possible. Mechanics note that you need to keep in mind the figures of approximately 3 liters per 100, or one tank per 100 km.
But this technique is not for roads, it is for fields. This is sports equipment.
Dimensions and weight
Dry weight only 70 kg. Standard indicator for a pit bike without a starter and battery.
The light weight of the pit bike allows you to easily perform cool tricks that are much more difficult to perform on a larger model.
However, in terms of overall dimensions, the pit can compete with standard motorcycles. He has:
- length - 1,821 mm ;
- width - 861 mm ;
- in height - 1,100 mm .
Seat height - 781 mm .
For whom is it intended?
As previously noted, the pit is positioned as a teenager option, with the opportunity for adults to ride as well.
The height of the motorcycle at the saddle is 860 mm, so it will be most comfortable for riders with a height of about 165 cm.
But the standard parameters of this technique are comfortable only for short users and BSE, the trendsetter of Chinese pits was no exception. It should be noted that the payload has been reduced to 80 kg . Therefore, this type of transport is simply contraindicated for an uncle weighing under a hundredweight.
Flaws
All wiring of the motorcycle is made without protection; at best, it is simply pulled to the frame with clamps. It would be better if they were put into plastic corrugations.
Since the model is relatively new, users do not note any particular disadvantages. Sometimes a small tank is indicated, but the pit, like the cross, is not designed for long hauls.
and dignity
And there are many more advantages:
- more than reasonable price ;
- mud protection for rear shock absorber;
- the ability to customize the latter;
- stock subframe installed;
- Ease of Management;
- standard gearbox diagram.
Many people note that this is a bicycle, but you don’t need to turn the pedals, since it carries you itself.
Prices BSE PH10-125
The average price for a new motorcycle is 71 thousand rubles. A used pit bike in good condition will cost 30-40 thousand rubles. All prices shown are approximate. Find out the exact cost in stores in your city; to find an official dealer, go to the “Where to buy” page.
Conclusion: a Chinese-made pit bike that is worth paying attention to. Bright appearance, good assembly, interesting technical features. Suitable for driving at any time of the year through forests and fields.
