Yamaha Motor Company produces motorcycles, buggies, outboard motors, boats and even golf carts

Motor scooters occupy a special niche in their products. Scooter enthusiasts relate to Yamaha the same way car enthusiasts relate to the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution or Subaru Impreza WRX STI. The Japanese company has always paid special attention to the design of scooters, which, unlike most competitors, are designed for lovers of aggressive riding.

Yamaha Jog is the most affordable scooter from the model range offered by the manufacturer. The first Jog was released in 1983 and soon gained considerable popularity. Their engine developed four and a half horsepower and accelerated the scooter to 61 kilometers per hour. With these figures, the Jog has become one of the fastest scooters. The design left no doubt that this was something sporty, and initially the Yamaha Jog was produced only in red, as if it were the Ferrari of scooters. The next version of the mini motorcycle, the Yamaha Jog Z was designed to be the fastest scooter in the world. Inside there was a fairly powerful two-stroke engine, and some design elements were changed to improve aerodynamic performance. As a result, the Jog reached an impressive speed for a scooter - 75 km/h.

Yamaha currently produces the Jog ZR. Without detracting from the model’s former sportiness, the Japanese took care of the passenger’s comfort and installed two special footrests, and also modernized the seat, making it more comfortable for the driver and companion, and also increased the luggage compartment. Under the seat, Jog has a four-stroke injection engine with a volume of 49 cubic centimeters, which develops 5.3 horsepower and consumes one and a half liters of ninety-second gasoline per hundred kilometers. All ZRs sold in Russia have an electronic limiter at 60 km/h. As always, the Jog remains a little sportier than other scooters: ten-inch alloy wheels, reinforced shock absorbers, chrome muffler trims and even a real spoiler with LED brake light. A brand new Yamaha Jog ZR costs 138,000 rubles.

Among the disadvantages of the model, one should highlight, first of all, the high demands on coverage. In Japan, little is known about using scooters on country roads, so the Yamaha Jog is only designed for good asphalt. Otherwise, the good dynamics of the scooter will go unnoticed, for which you have to pay a lot extra. Also, given the sporty nature of this Yamaha model, it is not recommended for those who are purchasing a scooter for the first time. But overall, the Yamaha Jog is ideal for active city driving.

Adjusting the Yamaha Jog Carburetor

Proper adjustment of the Yamaha Jog carburetor ensures long service life. Some adjustment tips:

  • Before removing the carburetor, notice all connectors and connections, clean from external contaminants
  • all elements are washed using only solvents and carburetor cleaners; jets, air and fuel channels are purged
  • mechanical and chemical cleaning is not carried out - this leads to deformation of the dosing elements
  • the fuel level in the float chamber is regulated by extending the metal float plate, which has a shut-off needle
  • Normally, deposits on the spark plug are brick-colored with a light brown tint.
  • By changing the damper angle they control the fuel-air mixture
  • cold start has three application variations:
      mechanical (manual raising/lowering of the damper using the steering handle);
  • thermomechanical (on the cylinder head there is a bimetal plate control sensor with carburetor tubes, the carburetor contains a membrane block that moves the valve through vacuum) - more often on older models;
  • electronic (a mechanism that is self-adjusting and has a thermocouple);

Yamaha Jog C scooter review

The first Japanese sports scooters, 50cc Jog, were released by Yamaha in 1983. Since that time, scooters have been considered one of the most dynamic sports models. The company celebrated 1997 with the release of the Jog C model, practical, with high speed parameters and at a budget price.

A careful review of Yamaha scooters allows us to conclude that any models produced by this company are distinguished by their original design. With the advent of new technologies, manufacturers immediately use them in the manufacture of scooters, so scooters are always modern in technical parameters and design. Jog C is no exception, which was modernized already in the third year after the start of production.

Distinctive features of the Jog C are excellent acceleration dynamics and low consumption of the scooter at maximum speed, not exceeding 2.4 liters per 100 km. Yamaha installs its own engines on all its motorcycles. With proper carburetor settings and timely maintenance, they almost never fail. This is how powerful it is, at 6.3 hp. Jog C scooter motor – medium compression ratio and fast, smooth acceleration without dips or snags.

The classification review of Jog C scooters is interesting - which class should it be classified into: medium road or light sports. It is lighter in weight than the middle class, and in terms of carrying capacity it is not inferior to road ones. Its wheel size is 80/90-10, that is, comparable to the middle class. In terms of speed, it approaches middle-class standards. Having quickly picked up a high speed, the scooter reliably holds it, just like a sporty and experienced driver feels confident during dynamic maneuvers on the road.

Advantages: - high dynamics controlled by the throttle grip, - sporty characteristics, - luxury design, - long, double, comfortable seat, - automatically switched on large crystal headlight, - most body panels are not subject to corrosion.

Disadvantages: — shows maximum speed on a smooth road.

Specifications:

Length - 1660mm Width - 640mm Height - 1025mm Seat height - 650mm Wheelbase - 1160mm Ground clearance - 105mm Fuel tank - 3.5 liters Dry weight - 64kg. Engine, volume - 49 cc. Forced air cooling 1-cylinder (diameter 40mm) 2-stroke, (piston stroke 39.2mm) Coefficient. compression - 11.4 Power max 6.8 hp at 7000 Torque 7.1 at 6500 Electric starter + kick starter. CVT automatic transmission Front telescopic suspension Rear pendulum suspension Drum brakes

As with any Yamaha model, the average cost of a scooter varies depending on mileage and year of manufacture: 2001 - $580, 2002 - $696, 2005 - $612, 2006 - $651, 2007 - $2,515. Jog C scooters of recent years are sold at a price 90-110 thousand rubles.

Carburetor operation

The scooter engine is very powerful in any modification, starting from 6.3 horsepower. The Yamaha Job carburetor has a starter enricher. When the engine is cold, when it is turned on, the retracted locking action of the enricher allows the combustible mixture to enrich itself. After turning on the engine, the generator current goes to the heating element, which, when heated, expands and blocks the enrichment channel.

The existing centrifugal automatic clutch and V-belt variator determine the high-quality and durable operation of the transmission.

Cooling system: air, forced type. Air is pumped to the cylinder cooling jacket by means of a fan.

The oil pump contains a worm drive that comes from the scooter's crankshaft.

These characteristics of the Yamaha Jog scooter allow you to move off smoothly and gently, and when the speed increases to 10 km/h, it is quite brisk and quickly picked up without any special dips or catches.

Yamaha Jog Coolstyle

Scooter Yamaha Jog Coolstyle

The Japanese sports scooter Yamaha Jog Coolstyle (Yamaha Jog Coolstyle) with the factory index SA16J dates back to 2000 and is the most powerful and fastest representative of the legendary Jog line.

At the very beginning of our century, namely in February 2000, a completely new model of the popular Jog series was developed and released, which was called Coolstyle and acquired an internal production index SA16J. This model was a real breakthrough not only in the domestic market of Japan, but also significantly increased the overall sales of the brand around the world. The new scooter had an aggressive design that was not even close to the previous models. Moreover, the aggressiveness of the design was very skillfully combined with overall harmony, the model had integrity and completeness, which allowed the moped to almost immediately become a common favorite around the world. An ideal means of transportation around the city both for one pilot and with a passenger. Suitable for use outside the city, subject to very moderate off-road conditions. Currently, this model has almost a cult status and is still very popular in many countries.

The stock Yamaha 5bm power unit produces 7.5 horsepower, which is an absolute record for its class, so the Jog Coolstyle moped is considered the most powerful and fastest factory scooter. The 2T air-cooled engine easily withstands high speeds and elevated temperature loads, due to which it has received the title of one of the most reliable and durable engines.

The scooter's suspension is significantly different from earlier models. The designers, taking into account the purpose of the scooter, installed full-fledged motorcycle-type oil shock absorbers in front, which significantly improved the handling quality of this device at any speed. The rear strut also did not go unnoticed and improved: now there is a reinforced shock absorber with a spring that has active characteristics.

The brakes on the Jog Coolstyle scooter are beyond praise; they effectively cope with their tasks in all conditions and at all speeds. There are hydraulic disc brakes at the front with a larger brake disc. At the rear are classic drum brakes. This combination is optimal for this scooter.

Ergonomics, as always, are excellent: everything is in its place and everything is convenient to use. A distinctive feature of this particular model is the electronic display on the instrument panel with odometer and fuel level readings. In addition, the model has received larger dimensions, which has a direct impact on comfort: the seat has become much larger and can easily accommodate two people. That is, you can easily move on this scooter with a passenger. In addition, the scooter has a very small glove compartment along the seat, plus a rear trunk on which you can place cargo or install a trunk.

In general, the Yamaha Jog Coolstyle scooter turned out to be a very pleasant device with clearly sporting inclinations and a rather menacing, and at the same time, pleasing to the eye appearance. The device is really fast and powerful, so it is more suitable for advanced pilots with extensive experience driving similar equipment. There is nothing for beginners here; this clearly should not be the first scooter in life. In all other respects, there are only one pluses, which include very tenacious and effective brakes, a comfortable fit and amazing handling.

You can buy this scooter inexpensively in our stores located in convenient places in Moscow. If necessary, equipment is delivered using the company’s own transport or third-party carriers.
