Mini snowmobile "Husky" - technical characteristics and reviews

The Husky is a time-tested snowmobile that is known for its apt name as well as its excellent riding capabilities. Husky is a special vehicle for overcoming places with limited accessibility - ruts, holes, hills, deep snowdrifts, etc. In such conditions, excellent traction properties are important, which the Husky motorized towing vehicle certainly has. The machine is equipped with tracks and skis, which are considered a familiar layout for most motorized dogs and snowmobiles. This chassis is most popular among fishermen and hunters, who value cross-country ability and universal qualities. It should be recognized that the Husky motorized towing vehicle is one of the only possible means of transportation away from civilization. In addition, we have before us both a tourist transport and a means of active recreation and adventure. Hunters and fishermen prefer affordable and unpretentious cars, which include the Husky.

Limitations of the Husky snowmobile

The four-stroke engine produces low power - 6.5 horsepower. This is quite enough, given the weight of the snowmobile, which is 79 kg. The lubrication system holds only 600 grams of oil. The engine starts manually - there is no starter. The model does not have any lighting devices, which makes it impossible to operate in the dark.

The unique design, which has no analogues in the world, makes the motor sleigh a convenient transformable transport. It is easy to turn it into an easily transportable oversized cargo, ready for transportation by any passenger car.

The structure can be disassembled without special tools in a matter of minutes. The heaviest weight is the part with the engine and caterpillar – 31 kg. This makes loading a snowmobile into the trunk a manageable task even for older anglers.

Features of the snowmobile

The power plant is a petrol Ruslight 168 1-2-2, structurally similar to the Honda GX200 engine. Its power is 6.5 forces. The unit is economical, and the snowmobile itself has a large range thanks to a 3.6-liter fuel tank. This volume is enough for a three-hour trip without additional refueling. The engine is relatively quiet and hardly overheats when driving at high speeds.

The hood material is moisture-resistant leatherette and heat-resistant tarpaulin. The tracks have an increased width. The balance suspension is reinforced with elastic bushings. The roller bearings are reliably protected from moisture. All this ensures good cross-country ability and reduced vibration from road irregularities.

The chassis of the Husky motorized towing vehicle is as simple as possible. The machine is equipped with two front skis and one Buran Polyus MD track. The width of the latter reaches 380 mm. A telescopic suspension is installed in the front part, and a balancer suspension is installed in the rear.

The basic version of the Husky snowmobile has a transfer case with a locking center differential and a reduction gear, a tire inflation system, axles with limited-slip differentials, a front winch, a propeller, a radio and a folding sunroof.

Spare parts for the unit and their prices

In the domestic market, a Husky snowmobile costs about 0 rubles. Used snowmobiles can be purchased for much less. A used snowmobile will cost no more than 39,000 rubles, but in this case, parts will most likely need to be replaced. In its class (mini snowmobiles), the Husky is quite good and affordable. However, when purchasing a domestic manufacturer, it is worth remembering the inevitable modifications to the product: a casing on the hood (otherwise - icing of the starter), moving the stop button to the steering wheel, etc.

    Cheap and cheerful, this is how you can characterize this model, in comparison, for example, with Japanese models. But it has a right to exist, since in the remote outbacks, where there is a lot of snow in winter, and not everyone has the equipment, then such a snowmobile can be owned by specialists. services to call for emergency calls, because as said, no special management skills are required.

    Very useful article. Thanks to the author. His godson has been asking to buy a snowmobile for a long time, but it is still too small for large and powerful models, and storing it in an apartment is, to put it mildly, not very convenient. But the Husky is ideal for a 13-14 year old guy, plus the big advantage is quick assembly - disassembly and You don’t need a license for it, but big guys can ride if they want.

    Good afternoon I chose a snowmobile for fishing. This option is suitable: more or less cheap. Good thing it's easy to transport. I think that for fishing the weight of a snowmobile does not matter. This power should be enough to transport gear, catch and drunk partners. It seems that the design itself is quite simple, so that it can be repaired “on the spot,” and it seems that, due to its simplicity, it will still be reliable. I was also pleased with the fuel consumption when compared with the speed it achieves. And finally, the most important thing for me, as a person who doesn’t even have a driver’s license, is that he doesn’t need to be registered and undergo the GTO. Thanks to the author for the article, it really helped me decide. I think that such a snowmobile will be useful for anglers like me.

    Husky has been working for 4 years now. No serious damage or problems. Life suggested several improvements. 1. The throttle cable was inserted into a transparent plastic hose, well lubricated with silicone. The problem of the cable freezing went away. 2. It’s uncomfortable to keep your feet on the standard footrests. I attached plastic covers to the ends of the iron skis, this is much more convenient. Yes, and the skis can be lifted using the force of the legs when overcoming obstacles. 3. I turned off the oil level sensor because it turned off the engine when driving over uneven surfaces. You just need to check the oil level regularly. 4. I replaced the STOP button with a waterproof one and moved it under the cover on the engine. It’s easy to reach and it turned out to be an “anti-theft” 5. Above the engine I designed a quick-release seat from an Argamak snow scooter and footrests for the rider. A 50 kg rider easily fits, BUT the center of gravity has increased and you can easily fall on your side. But the cross-country ability has increased. 6. I attached wide sleeves from an old jacket to the steering wheel and now I put my hands in these “covers” and my hands don’t get cold!

Which motorized towing vehicle should you choose?

Before making a choice, you need to study the characteristics and scope of use of possible options, view photos and videos. Main criteria for choosing a motorized towing vehicle:

  • motor. The level of its load capacity depends on what power unit the equipment is equipped with;
  • movement speed. On average, this figure ranges from 25 to 50 km/h;
  • maximum movement range. This indicator depends on fuel consumption per hour or per 100 km of travel. The specific value of the indicator is specified in the technical specifications and user instructions;
  • load capacity. Most models are equipped with a trunk for a fuel canister and a set of necessary tools. In addition, a drag sled is attached to the motorized dog, just like to a real dog sled. The bulk of the cargo falls on them. Load capacity typically varies between 150 and 500 kg;
  • transmission (automated or CVT);
  • fuel tank capacity. It is selected in such a way that there is enough fuel for 2.0-2.5 hours;
  • type of drive (front or rear);
  • caterpillars. The choice depends on the type of surface on which you will be moving.

We hope that the knowledge gained from the review will help you make the right choice of axlebox.

Selection of a snowmobile by parameters

Snowmobiles, as mentioned above, come in different varieties. However, for the fisherman, their choice is distinguished by its specificity, in which individual characteristics of this type of equipment can be safely neglected.

Weight. For sports models, this characteristic is important. In relation to a snowmobile that will have to work hard on an ice-bound reservoir, it is necessary to find out whether the fisherman will ride it on the first or last ice. In this case, the weight of the snowmobile will be of paramount importance, since thin ice can be very malleable under significant load.

Power

The power characteristics of a snowmobile are important for sports vehicles. However, for a snowmobile that will be used by fishermen, this parameter is not important.

It can successfully complete tasks at low speeds and with low engine power. Its main purpose is to transport loaded sleighs and fishermen.

Track width. If the snowmobile is to be used only on an ice-covered river, then the width of the tracks is not important for it. However, if you have to move between bodies of water, through snow-covered fields and forests, then this parameter becomes critical.

Reliability. The reliability characteristics of a fishing snowmobile must be taken seriously. The fisherman's conditions on the river mean that he needs to get to the fishing spot and get out of there. As a result, technology should never let him down.

Economical. Almost all modern engines used in snowmobiles have the same fuel consumption parameters. You just need to decide on the power characteristics.

Well thought out features

The model is equipped with an economical engine, so a full tank (3.6 liters) is enough for an active three-hour drive. Given the Husky's ability to accelerate to 24 km/h, a license to drive this vehicle is not required.

Experienced engineers have carefully thought out all the features of the extreme conditions of use of this snowmobile.

The Husky engine can be started without problems at 20 degrees below zero. The pressure of the tracks on the snow surface is also reduced to the maximum – up to 36 g/cm.

This domestic snow scooter can operate at ambient temperatures from +5 to -30 °C.

Given its low load-bearing properties, it is not able to move through very deep snow, as well as overcome trenches, cables, hummocks or snow debris.

The Husky can withstand a maximum payload of up to 120 kg.

In addition, it is capable of pulling a sled with 100 kilograms of cargo.

The snowmobile was tested, during which two people (150 kg) moved on it over different terrain.

Husky showed his abilities perfectly on snow surfaces up to 30 cm deep.

Experts recommend. After driving the vehicle on ice, you need to stop the engine in a safe place, tilt the snowmobile and remove wet snow from the tracks.

This procedure must be carried out quickly, otherwise the snow and ice will freeze.

Price policy

As has already become clear from the design features, the Husky snowmobile is a budget and affordable model. Its cost is about 60 thousand rubles, which makes the unit one of the most affordable among inexpensive options. Slight price fluctuations may depend on the region of sale and motorcycle showroom. Some sellers, in the form of a discount when purchasing motorized sleds, offer drags as a gift - light towed sleds that will allow you to pull a payload along a snowy plain. This year, an unprecedented promotion started in April - dealers set the price of the device at 49 thousand rubles! This opens up an opportunity for those who have long dreamed of purchasing a Husky snowmobile. The price, which has dropped by almost 20 thousand, makes it the most affordable snowmobile on the planet, which could not but affect sales. Despite the off-season, they grew at record levels.

Advantages of a snowmobile

The Husky snowmobile has undoubted advantages over other snowmobile models.

It is designed for extreme climatic conditions, so it is distinguished by qualities such as:

  • Uniqueness. Collapsible design without the use of tools;
  • Compactness. A disassembled snowmobile can be easily placed in the trunk of a car;
  • Playfulness. Ability to accelerate to 24 km/h;
  • Environmental friendliness. The rear engine position ensures clean air for the driver;
  • Economy. Fuel consumption – 1.2 liters per hour;
  • Reliability. Used successfully since 2008;
  • Ease. The assembled model weighs 80 kg;
  • Endurance. Payload – 120 kg, as well as towing a canopy with a load of up to 100 kg.

Owner reviews

  • Semyon, Tver region. Cool car, easy to maintain. It looks like a simplified buggy, I'm just blown away by this design. In general, I love this type of equipment - of course, not only for its utilitarian appearance, but also for its impressive off-road capabilities. This towing vehicle is practically not inferior to snowmobiles, except in cross-country ability and carrying capacity. Although, when connecting a sled, you can count on transporting up to 100 kg of cargo, and some more cargo can be placed on the machine itself, but in this case you will have to go alone. The Husky is a two-seater, but with two people the dynamics drop noticeably, as is the case with the transportation of goods. The maximum speed is 24 km/h, which is quite enough for a calm and attentive ride.
  • Vitaly, Novosibirsk. I have been using the Husky motorized towing vehicle since 2009. Over the 9 years of use there have been many breakdowns. Once there was a major overhaul of the engine. The gearbox was also replaced, the tracks and skis were changed twice. It seems that these are the most important parts, but fortunately I managed to avoid large expenses - all spare parts are inexpensive and do not require large expenses. This also applies to the cost of replacing consumables. For example, the oil sump volume is enough for several trips, and fuel consumption is 2 liters per hour. The load capacity is more than 100 kg, which is enough for my needs. All the parts are in stock, so I hope the Husky will still serve me.
  • Leonid, Petropavlovsk. My children gave me a husky for my birthday. I am a pensioner and have been hunting and fishing since I was young. The snowmobile just came in handy for me. Beautiful red color, a comfortable two-seater saddle, and a whole lot of possibilities for transformation - I mean that you can move two people or one, and in the latter case the load capacity increases. I immediately bought a drag sled, with which I can transport an additional 100 kg of cargo. This is very convenient so you don’t have to go back for the next batch of firewood. Cross-country ability is good, fuel consumption is 2 liters per hour. I'm not going to sell the car, it's only three years old. The device trudges well along an icy road, no slipping occurs, even if you drive on a frozen lake.

Estimated cost

On the domestic market, a Husky snowmobile of the 01-1001 series costs approximately from 59,000 to 60,000 rubles. For the Husky 01-1000 model, suppliers are asking 38,000 rubles.

Used snowmobiles can be purchased much cheaper, but you should carefully check their technical condition.

The Husky snowmobile is an excellent means of transportation.

It is distinguished by its simplicity, reliability and versatility in use. It is easy to use and convenient to store.

In just 5 minutes, the snowmobile can be assembled and prepared for movement.

This vehicle is durable, because it was created specifically for the harsh climate of the Northern regions of the country.

And it’s not for nothing that its name was borrowed from the Siberian Husky sled dog breed. These animals tolerate temperatures of -50 degrees Celsius.

The Husky snowmobile will become a reliable assistant for fishermen and hunters.

It will deliver the driver and a 100-kilogram load to their destination through 30 centimeters of snow cover.

It will also become a means of entertaining entertainment for the whole family in the beautiful frosty winter of the snowy region. The Husky snowmobile does not require registration or passing the GTO.

Mini snowmobile “Husky” with module 500: manufacturer, model features

Among owners, the question often arises about who produces the Husky transformable snowmobile. As you know, this mini-snowmobile (with ski module 500) was created by engineer S.F. Myasishchev. At the moment, its production is carried out in Tolyatti.

Husky mini snowmobile review

The Husky snow scooter is a collapsible vehicle that is used to move on snow and ice. No special skills are needed to operate a snowmobile with this type of design/

Peculiarities:

  1. The folding snow scooter is easy to store and transport. The individual compact components easily fit into the trunk of almost any car. A snowmobile does not take up much space when stored disassembled, for example, on the balcony of a house or in a garage.
  2. The lightweight snowmobile with ski module, which is essentially a mini snowmobile, weighs just 82 kg when assembled, with its heaviest component weighing less than 33 kg.
  3. Many years of practice and numerous reviews from owners confirm the performance, reliability, practicality and durability of the design. For example, a carburetor with a throttle valve is protected from freezing of the air flow entering a gasoline engine by a heat-resistant casing made of fabric and leatherette.
  4. The mini snowmobile can operate in two driving modes: High speed mode with a maximum speed of 20 km/h (highest gear), and Traction mode at a speed of 16 km/h (low).
  5. The Husky Mini Snowmobile can pull a sled trailer with a quick-release hitch that also folds down to a compact size without the use of tools. Includes the following elements: hood, steering wheel, steering fork, frame, chassis, left and right skis, gasoline engine.

The enclosed chassis is light yet strong enough for a mini snowmobile and is finished in the model's typical color (light blue). Behind it is an economical, naturally cooled, manually started, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine with a power of 6.5 horsepower and an average fuel efficiency of 1.2 liters of AI-92 gasoline per hour. The Husky can carry a payload of up to 120 kg and pull a sled weighing up to 100 kg or a ski trailer weighing up to 100 kg.

Assembly and disassembly instructions

It is recommended to study the visual instructions with drawings that will help you correctly assemble and disassemble the snow scooter.

How to choose a motorized towing vehicle

Types of motorized towing vehicles

Before you buy a motorized towing vehicle, you need to decide on its purpose and method of use: for driving in the snow, on swampy ground or rough terrain.

For driving through the swamp, models with removable tracks are used, which can be equipped with 4 or 6 wheels. Special requirements are placed on the frame. It must be made of high-strength metal.

Models with front-wheel drive are considered the optimal hunting and fishing option. This is explained by the fact that due to the large load in the bow, contact with the soil increases. This motorized dog moves well on bad roads or in off-road conditions.

Depending on the type of drive, front- and rear-wheel drive models are distinguished. The advantage of the latter is that they are easy to control and maneuverable. This can be achieved due to the fact that the center of gravity is located near the hitch point. A loaded motorized dog moves perfectly, but can rear up if it moves empty. The center of gravity of the front-wheel drive model is close to the front. This helps to increase the contact area with the surface. Thus, the degree of cross-country ability of the front-wheel drive model does not depend on the load. Such modifications are more reliable than rear-wheel drive ones and, as practice shows, are much less difficult to maintain.

Suspension

There are 2 types of suspensions: slip and roller. The peculiarity of the latter is that it does not have a rigid support in the middle of the tracks. The cost of models with slip pendants is lower. They are great at towing sleds. However, it is not the best choice for sandy or hard soils. If there is no snow cover, metal parts rub more, which leads to rapid wear. The mechanical part of the chassis fails very quickly.

For movement on hard, snow-free surfaces, a roller-type suspension is excellent. The rollers look like small wheels, reminiscent of tank wheels. All-season models of motorized dogs, indispensable for use on agricultural enterprises and on expeditions, are equipped with roller suspensions. The disadvantage of rollers is that when driving on snow or mud, they quickly become clogged. Roller models are ideal for solving average problems. A motorcycle tug with slick suspensions is more suitable for operation in conditions close to extreme.

A good option for moving through swamps is pneumatic wheels. The movement is soft and comfortable. But such cars are far from cheap and rarely go on sale.

Engine

The engine power of a motorized sled determines the speed of movement of the motorized dog and the load capacity of the unit. The most common option is 15 horsepower 4-stroke engines per cylinder. However, as power increases, fuel consumption also increases.

Motorized towing vehicle transmission

The advantage of an automatic transmission is that it makes it possible to develop maximum traction force. However, the structure of the “machine” is too complex, and therefore the degree of reliability is less. The variator has a simpler design and is therefore more reliable. The cost of a CVT transmission is lower than that of an automatic transmission.

Frame

It is made of steel - hard and durable, but at the same time devoid of fragility. This part of the axlebox bears the maximum impact loads, so the main requirement for the frame is resistance to deformation. Its minimum thickness is 3 mm.

Caterpillars

The best option for moving a tractor through snow drifts are “aggressive” tracks with large hooks. However, for snowless areas this option is far from the best. The vehicle's maneuverability largely depends on the size of the tracks. The larger the dimensions of the motorized dog and the wider the tracks, the higher the cross-country ability of the model. But as the size increases, the maneuverability of the unit suffers. The best track width is 500 mm, and the maximum practical towing length is 1500 mm. Very convenient are the universal modular designs, which allow you to equip the towing vehicle with skis or wheels if necessary.

Optional equipment

The purpose of additional equipment is to make the device itself more versatile and make riding it more comfortable. Additional equipment includes:

  • modules (wheeled or ski);
  • electric starter;
  • device for heating the handles.

Sometimes the equipment is supplied complete with the axle box, sometimes you have to purchase it separately.

Snowmobiles for fishing and hunting

Standard Russian-assembled snowmobiles, which include Irbis, Stealth, Taiga, and Buran, are much cheaper than their foreign counterparts. Their price starts from 200 thousand rubles. The most expensive of this series are snowmobiles of the Stealth model. Depending on the configuration, their cost varies in the range from 300 to 500 thousand rubles.

The cost of mini snowmobiles is directly dependent on their characteristics, manufacturer, and functional purpose. Usually the price ranges from 60 thousand to 150 thousand rubles.

The best snowmobiles for fishing in the mini category include: “Burlak”, “Vyuga”, Snow Fly, “Husky”, “Rybinka”.

The cost of snowmobiles from foreign manufacturers is much higher. However, their quality is quite high. The most popular models: Canadian Bombardier; Yamaha Motor Corporation from Japan; Italian Alpina Snowmobiles; American Polaris Industries. The cost of these machines is from 750 to 900 thousand rubles.

There are also BRP models on the market - LYNX and Ski-Doo snowmobiles. Their price ranges from 900 thousand rubles to one and a half million.

Mukhtar 15

Innovative 2021 model. The new product is positioned as a towing vehicle that can be used all year round in a variety of conditions, including complete off-road conditions. The motorized dog is equipped with a 15-horsepower Zongshen unit with a capacity of 420 cm3. A special feature of the model is wide 500 mm tracks. Types of snowmobiles

Snowmobiles are divided into 4 main types according to their intended use: sports, utilitarian, mountain and touring.

  • Sports snowmobiles
    are designed for racing and extreme sports enthusiasts; they are equipped with powerful engines and are capable of reaching high speeds - up to 200 km per hour. Sports snowmobiles are most often single-seaters, light in weight, and equipped with narrow and short tracks for good handling. Sport snowmobiles are not designed for driving in deep snow, but when riding on groomed trails they have no equal. Crossovers are a subtype of sports snowmobiles. Crossovers are designed for travel both on compacted tracks and in deep snow, as well as on icy areas and sections of tracks with jumps.
  • Utilitarian snowmobiles
    are designed primarily to solve practical problems. Utilitarian snowmobiles are not very fast and maneuverable. Utilitarian snowmobiles are equipped with wide, long tracks, one or two seats, a trunk, and reliable suspension. Utilitarian snowmobiles have high maneuverability and reliability, and can be used to tow heavy trailers. Most utility snowmobiles are heavy, but there are lightweight utility snowmobiles that are close to sports snowmobiles in terms of their maximum speed. Due to their high cross-country ability, utilitarian snowmobiles are well suited for hunting and fishing enthusiasts. Utility cars are heavy and highly safe, making them well suited for family trips. Utilitarian snowmobiles are used as work transport by oil workers, geologists, forestry workers, fishery inspectors, hunting inspectors, and employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
  • Mountain snowmobiles
    are designed for moving through mountainous terrain, traveling along slopes and deep snow. Mountain snowmobiles are most often single-seat, equipped with one long, narrow track with large hooks and a powerful engine. Thanks to its low weight, the driver of a mountain snowmobile can maneuver using his own body weight.
  • Tourist snowmobiles
    are designed for family trips; they do not have high cross-country ability, maneuverability and speed, but they have soft suspension, are very comfortable and convenient. Touring snowmobiles are designed for traveling on groomed trails and shallow snow.
