A new product from Belarus – minsk erx 250 – appeared on the Russian market not so long ago, but has already received a lot of varied reviews. The model can be confidently called not entirely successful, since motorcyclists who bought such equipment determined that it had a large number of shortcomings. Many people associate the appearance of the motorcycle with the famous Chinese assembly, and the technical characteristics evoke respect and bewilderment at the same time .
The erx 250 model initially belonged to the class of enduro motorcycles, however, it quickly received permission to travel in the city. Its laconic appearance, impressive dynamic performance, and small dimensions still won over a small number of fans of extreme off-road driving.
Motorcycle performance
The technical characteristics of the m1nsk erx 250 motorcycle are worth considering in more detail, identifying the advantages and disadvantages:
Dimensions (length; width; height) | 205; 82; 130 cm |
Weight (dry) | 110 kg |
Speed | 100 km/h maximum |
Fuel tank volume | 11.5 l. |
Engine | 4-stroke 1-cylinder liquid cooled |
Fuel consumption | 3.9 l/100 km |
Engine capacity | 248.6 cu. cm |
Start | Electric/kickstarter |
Engine power | 28 l. With. at 9000 rpm |
Brake system | Disc hydraulic |
Suspensions (front; rear) | Telescopic fork; pendulum with monoshock absorber |
The standard small dimensions of the motorcycle, the weight slightly exceeding 110 kg, and the enduro appearance do not particularly distinguish the model from other representatives of the class of two-wheeled vehicles. Relatively low fuel consumption per 100 km, as well as a spacious fuel tank, saved drivers from frequent visits to gas stations. Owners will certainly be pleased with the model’s suspension and braking system, which stand out significantly from the rest of the motorcycle’s parameters.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Minsk erx 250

- Can be used as a first motorcycle.
- Short trips around the city or country roads are quite possible with this model.
- Small mass.

- The appearance of the motorcycle is extraordinary, very much reminiscent of Chinese technology.

It’s funny, but at the time when I rode a Chinese enduro, they often wrote to me, saying why did you choose a motorcycle from China, it’s much better to take an ancient, but Japanese motorcycle.
Then, when I drove an old Japanese car, they pestered me with diametrically opposite statements: “This is a ten-fold Japanese car, it will break down, you won’t find spare parts, and if you do find it, it will be very expensive”... and so on. So it’s almost like choosing a religion, the debate is at least no less heated. In their own way, both are partly right. In this article, I will try to express my opinion on this matter as fully as possible.
My motorcycles Kayo T2 and Suzuki TS200R
Let's divide motorcycles into several price categories: up to 100 thousand, from 100 to 200 thousand, and from 200 to 300, and from 300 thousand and more.
Briefly about the manufacturer
There are few people who would not know the Belarusian motorcycle manufacturing company “M1NSK”.
The plant has been around for over 60 years and has been producing good bikes throughout its history.
One of the largest export markets was Vietnam, where bikes from this manufacturer became popular due to their ease of maintenance and reliability.
“M1NSK” has the “People’s Brand” award, which he received in 2014, which means that the people appreciated him.
A little interesting fact for those who didn’t know: at the moment, over 7 million motorcycles of their production have been sold worldwide.

- shock absorbers - 250 rubles;
- clutch drum – 100 – 120 rubles;
- cylinder head – 950 – 1300 rubles;

M1nsk R 250: the first plastic one from the CIS
In fact, the Minsk 125 Sport motorcycle, developed jointly with the British from Megelli, was supposed to go into production back in 2008-2009. But the financial crisis that broke out at that time made adjustments to the plans of the Belarusians, which, in part, only benefited the motorcycle - it reached the assembly line with an engine that had doubled in volume, becoming a full-fledged competitor to the Kawasaki Ninja 250 R. Inferior to the latter in engine power, Minsk has a significantly more advanced chassis - a birdcage frame made of steel pipes and a fork with a diameter of 38 mm, while the “Japanese” is content with a primitive spinal frame and a 37 mm fork. It is also inferior to the newcomer in terms of brakes - 290mm disc at the front and 220mm at the rear, while the Minsk will be equipped with a front brake disc with a diameter of 300mm and a rear brake disc with a diameter of 240mm, both with two-piston floating calipers. The undeniable advantage of the M1nsk R 250 over the dwarf Ninja is its low dry weight - the latter is almost a quarter heavier than its new competitor. And where Minsk definitely puts the “ninja”, and indeed any of the 250 cc competitors, on its shoulder is in the design. Where else will you see a quarter car in a bright Italian style - a beautiful openwork frame, a tubular pendulum reminiscent of the famous Bimota DB5, LED turn signals and a brake light. The bike really gives the impression of a formidable racing machine, capable of outrunning any other sports car from a traffic light. It seems that the fair sex will not leave the owner of this masterpiece without a little attention. And you can look at the motorcycle live and compare its appearance with real sportbikes in early April at Motopark 2011. At the same time, you can find out the real price - the announced price of 155,000 rubles (as much as 200 rubles lower than the Ninja 250R of the first, limited delivery) is indicated as preliminary and too promising.
And in general, everything is heading towards the fact that the R 250 will become another bestseller in the Russian Federation, like the dwarf Ninja in 2008. Judge for yourself - a great design for a quarter car, a tolerant engine for beginners and a price that is at least a quarter lower than its main competitor - this is not a formula for success. However, one more factor should not be underestimated - Minsk motorcycles in Russia will for a long time be associated with those non-prestigious and horse-riding octopus macaques, which to this day are the means of transport for rural youth. And to overcome this stereotype, design alone will clearly not be enough.

Availability of spare parts and cost of the bike
All motorcycles will eventually need spare parts, this cannot be avoided, some parts will wear out, and some may be broken in an accident.
The reasons are not important; sooner or later you will have to repair the bike and look for spare parts accordingly.
For some it is easier, for others it is more difficult. Owners of “M1NSK” motorcycles belong to the first category; due to their prevalence, finding additional parts for the bike is not difficult. There are plenty of them on the secondary market.
Approximate price of the motorcycle
The price category of bikes of this volume varies from somewhere from 150,000 to 300,000, it all depends on the manufacturer and the capabilities of the motorcycle itself.
Below are the prices from the official website:
Model | Price |
R 250 | 189,500 rubles; |
C4 250 | 185,000 rubles; |
ERX 250 | 176,000 rubles; |
RX 250 | 168,000 rubles; |
As you can see, the prices for these motorcycles are quite reasonable for their class.
You can buy them on the secondary market much cheaper. Everything, of course, depends on the condition of the motorcycle, mileage and other factors, but a decent used motorcycle can be bought starting from 75,000 rubles.
