If you are reading this text, then it is likely that you are into cruisers. Every motorcyclist has his own preferences when it comes to the type of motorcycle, but for many it is these uncompromising monsters that “blow the tower down.”
These machines are not as uncomfortable as sports bikes, but they do not provide as much comfort as touring models. Different types of riders define themselves as cruisers, some include only the V-Twin monsters in this family, others are more liberal. The list below includes metal “steeds” that fit the broader definition associated with performance bikes.
Old Arbat
If we talk about the sights of Moscow and how visiting them can be combined with a biker theme, you should definitely go to Old Arbat.
Here is the bar “Sixties” (Arbat St., 16, building 2), one of the favorite places of the capital’s bikers. Inside, the bar is decorated in the American style of the 1960s: old photographs and posters of American films, on the ceiling there is a diagram of the legendary Route 66, and several bikes are always parked next to the bar. Their owners can have long conversations in a bar or communicate with each other on the street, sitting on their iron horses.
And the walk along Old Arbat itself will give you pleasure. Here, on Old Arbat, is the famous wall of Viktor Tsoi, a significant figure of Russian rock. In general, representatives of various subcultures gather on Old Arbat every day, so a walk along Old Arbat promises to be very interesting.
Travel options
Of course, you need to start with the classics, and then, as you gain experience, you can change the bike to a “universal” one. It received this name because of the ability to travel on it not only along city streets, but also over rough terrain. The advantages of the new generation models are that they are equipped with “electronic” assistants. The ABS anti-lock braking system will facilitate the situation during emergency braking and will prevent wheel locking or, in other cases, slipping of the rear roller tire during drifting.
Let's look at the most popular types of motorcycles.
Naked
Characteristic features are the absence of a windshield and plastic cladding. After depowering the engine and removing the plastic, they began to have the following advantages:
- Due to the reduction in size, they are maximally maneuverable (can pass through thin passages).
- Access to repair work on the engine, chassis and main elements is not limited.
- During a fall, the cladding will not be damaged, so repairs will be less expensive.
- Since there is no windshield, the driver will not be able to reach high speeds, which guarantees a quiet ride and safety.
- Available to every consumer - minimizing tuning has reduced the costs of the production process.
Streetfighter
The types of sports motorcycles and bikes include modern models of the street fighter type, which have the street name “fighter”. It is also lightweight and has no plastic parts. And this makes it possible to move without problems on city streets, where it is necessary to overtake cars in traffic jams or drive through difficult, narrow places. With all this, the driving characteristics do not change, but the engine power is about 30 percent lower than that of powerful ones. They are also more accessible to ordinary buyers, since cheap materials are used in production. The most popular streetfighters are the world-famous Honda and Yamaha. With such an iron horse, you are not afraid of the “jungle” of the metropolis.
Scarver
A distinctive feature of scarves is the ability to cut corners as much as possible. For racers and extreme sports enthusiasts, a vehicle of this style becomes simply an irreplaceable friend. They note the following advantages:
- A very low seat allows even short people to move around.
- Has excellent handling.
- Resourceful and high-torque.
- Doesn't consume a lot of gasoline.
- Equipped with an additional luggage compartment located in the central lining.
- Fuel injection is computer controlled.
- The air intake prevents large air masses from colliding with a person’s face.
What types of modern motorcycles are available to choose from?
The choices are quite extensive. There are different design options for the technology, designed for different applications and user levels. Motorcycles can be divided into several types:
- Base
- Standard (Retro)
- Biker
- Cruise
- Cruiser
- Superbike
- Supermoto
- Electro
However, safe equipment (ABS, traction control) and a relatively modest engine displacement (300-400 cm3) are recommended for beginners.
Wind and vibrations at steady highway speeds can be unpleasant, but tolerable. Accordingly, the choice of a supermoto is worth considering if most of the trips are designed for densely crowded city streets, where only a relatively low speed is available to the motorcyclist.
Electro - the new era of motorcycle movement
Instant torque, no heat or vibration, and often no gear changes required. Perhaps these are the clear advantages of technology for individual consumers. Just like electric cars, electric motorcycles are making strong progress. The latest example of increasing travel range recorded values of 120-160 km.
Many modern hotels and parking stations are rushing to install fast charging points for motorcycle batteries. However, similar to cars, electric motorcycles are significantly more expensive than gasoline alternatives.
Riding such devices requires a careful approach to where and how to ride. However, if travel is sorted out, fast chargers are available, and you have the money to spend, buying an electric motorcycle makes perfect sense. However, it's time for a review.
Motorcycles and bikers
Hello, guests of “All about Moto”! There is nothing better than riding a faithful iron horse. But what to do when the season is over and the new one has not yet begun? It's best to take a break and improve your bike. The Internet is full of options for special motorcycles...
Motorcycle for a biker
People have many associations with the thought of two or three-wheeled vehicles. Some people immediately think about high speed, while others think about risk. There are also those who see freedom at the first thought of an iron unit. The comfort that motor vehicle fans are so excited about is not needed by bikers. It is enough just to have the opportunity to travel, and even better, not alone. In the modern world, doing this all the time is quite difficult. The only thing that simplifies the situation is participation in motorcycle clubs (MC), which on the road often engage in various kinds of shadow operations, to put it mildly.
Be sure that your loyal biker friends will not let you go to waste in any situation that may await a motorcycle rider on the road.
It is very important to remember safety. Riding a motorcycle increases life risks
However, if you don’t get too excited while driving, most of the troubles won’t overtake you on the road. In addition, riding in biker columns brings with it only safety.
The best sports motorcycles
Sports motorcycles, whose main feature is high speed on the highway, are very popular among young people. This is achieved through a 2 or 4 cylinder engine that has more power and a fully streamlined body made of durable plastic to reduce air resistance.
The hooded trim has a bright design that attracts the attention of others. The equipment has good controllability at high speed, but produces a loud sound from the operation of the power unit. Here are the best models of this type according to reviews of their owners.
Motorcycles and bikers
Many bike drivers and their equipment are practically inseparable. If you try, you can remember similar acquaintances yourself. You should not believe stereotypes about the harsh character or nasty behavior of such inhabitants of the planet. Many of them are quite polite and kind. You can check this by asking a biker for help. The riders of iron horses show maximum solidarity with each other. The biker greetings alone on the road are worth it. Often on domestic or foreign roads you can see examples of mutual assistance with the participation of motorcyclists.
These people are cheerful. They value the memory of their fallen brothers. There is even a motorcyclist day. It serves as a date for general gatherings of bikers. Around the world, this holiday is celebrated every third week of July. The first time this date was celebrated by fans of iron horses was in 1992. International Motorcycle Day is more than a holiday for cheerful people. It is often accompanied by interesting events (exhibitions, concerts, shows, etc.)
Biker conventions for real motorcycle lovers
The motorcycle convention has become one of the most important proofs of the widespread love for motorcycles. In the post-Soviet space, such events became popular towards the end of the 1990s. It was then that we gradually began to realize that the iron horse was something special, more than just transport.
Motorcycle conventions can often be seen in different parts of the CIS. They do not necessarily take place in large cities. Moreover, such events affect small villages, for which the arrival of bikers in itself turns into an unprecedented show.
At such meetings of motorcyclists, concerts of rock bands are often held. The direction of the music, however, is predominantly heavy.

Bike-
Probably the largest and oldest establishment aimed at representatives of the biker subculture is considered to be biker. It bears the same name as a bike club that existed in Berlin in the 80s. After its closure, the pioneers of the Soviet motorcycle movement, the Night Wolves bike club, decided to revive Sexton in Moscow, on the site of a former car dump on Nizhnie Mnevniki Street.
Now Sexton is a whole city. On its territory you can enjoy the impressive interior, admire motorcycles of all stripes and communicate with bikers and those who share their lifestyle. But it won’t be possible to arrange “rides” here, since there is no racing area. There is also a legendary motorcycle workshop here, the work of whose masters is widely known both in Russia and around the world. Despite the seemingly narrow focus of the club, anyone can visit the bike center, regardless of whether they have a motorcycle or not.
The club regularly hosts various events: discos with performances by rock bands and fire shows. Every year the opening of the motorcycle season is celebrated here. And almost every Saturday the Sexton club hosts a MadMax show. This is a small but very spectacular performance with the participation of stuntmen and acrobats. There is also a hotel at the bike center where you can spend the night if you don’t have the strength to get home. “Sexton” is located at the address: Moscow, st. Nizhny Mnevniki, 110.
Bikers
Biker roots
The history of bikers can be safely associated with the traditions of medieval knights.
The bikers themselves very much agree with this. “Night Wolves”, “Black Knives”, “Iron Knights”, “Growling Tigers” - echoes of knightly times are heard in the names.
Like any knight, the biker loves, cherishes and cherishes his “horse”. And if in the distant Middle Ages a knight chose his horse by looking into its teeth and feeling its sides, then modern bikers work wonders. Often, for lack of funds, or even at will, a biker assembles a motorcycle himself. Decorates it in every possible way. There are no limits to wild imagination: skulls, wolf tails, camouflage and motorcycle tattoos.
Historical reference
Let's take a look at the historical page of the 60s. It was then that the biker movement was born in America - a whole movement with its own clothing style, culture and slang.
Although the first bike rally took place much earlier, in 1940. Its organizer, Clarence Noel, can probably be called the first biker.
In the 50s and early 60s, the image of a rebel biker began to take shape, for which a Harley-Davidson was considered a mandatory attribute.
Gradually the movement grew, became stronger and crossed the ocean. In Russia, biker culture appeared relatively recently - in the mid-80s. The founder of all Russian biker clubs can be called the “Night Wolves”, led by the Surgeon. Officially, this club celebrates its birthday on May 31, starting in 1989.
Biker spirit
At first glance, it may seem that a biker club is a place where bearded guys gather to drink beer. But this is far from the truth. The main thing is the spirit of bikers, felt by every member of the club - regardless of age and social status. This is the spirit of freedom, speed, and risk - everything that so shocked the society of the 60s and attracted the hearts of rebels of all times.
Every year, bikers legitimize their clubs and invite new members (the probationary period excludes random people).
To become a biker, you don't have to be a member of a club. Although, as a rule, such people maintain friendly relations, they are aware of all the events of biker life. The views of “non-club” bikers are more unbiased, devoid of predilections for one club or another.
Bikers and biker clubs
The biker movement is growing, new clubs are appearing all over Russia. Some have rather peculiar names. For example, the Moscow club “Scum”, where quite intelligent people gathered: lawyers, businessmen. Symbolism: a skull, and below the signature “Scum of all countries, unite!” Of course, this is bravado. Bikerism implies, first of all, certain rules of communication, where there is no place for meanness.
It doesn’t matter what kind of motorcycle you have - over 30 or over 3 thousand, whether you are 20 years old or 40, the main thing is that you must maintain the code of honor of bikers.
Bikerism and foppery
You need to be able to differentiate between bikerism and foppishness. You can meet a biker on the road not only on a warm sunny day. A real biker rides in almost any weather conditions. These are not demonstration performances, but a lifestyle.
By appearance, you can also determine who is in front of you: a biker or a show-off dude. If a person rides an expensive motorcycle in sandals and shorts, one can draw conclusions. It is no coincidence that a real biker wears a biker jacket, a helmet, choppers (boots), leather pants and gloves. Imagine, the speed is 150 km/h, and stones and dust fly towards you from under the wheels of the cars in front. This whole thing hits your head, shoulders, and sometimes hits your fingers very painfully.
What are stones compared to wasps, bumblebees and other insects? There have even been cases of birds crashing into bikers.
Types of motorcycles
There are different types of motorcycles. I would characterize a sportbike This motorcycle is not designed for long journeys. There is a concept of sports tourism; sports-class motorcycles are suitable for it. They are more suitable for long trips, and their fuel consumption is more economical than, say, a sportbike. There is also the concept of neoclassic, when a classic motorcycle is equipped with a sports engine. The cruiser is a comfortable touring motorcycle from the category of “heavy motorcycles”. Enduro is a motorcycle designed for traveling over rough terrain. This is a more civil option. There is also motocross motorcycle. And, of course, chopper. This is a stylish motorcycle, suitable for use both in the city and on the highways. Horny steering wheel, long fork, low seat, narrow front and wide rear wheel. Here is a portrait of a real chopper.
Biker and motorist
A car, at first glance, is a safer form of transport. But, by and large, it's all about driving culture. It is no secret that the speed of modern motorcycles and the dynamics of movement are an order of magnitude higher than that of cars. For example, on country roads with a flow of 100–120 km/h on a motorcycle, you can reach a speed of 160–170 km/h. In addition, in a modern city, traveling on a motorcycle is much more convenient. Another undeniable advantage of a motorcycle over a car is the smell of the road. There is such a concept. He can be both bad and good. In the spring, on a country highway, flowing into the streams of clean wind, filled with the aroma of blooming gardens, you get a real buzz. The main reason for bikers’ hostility towards motorists is the latter’s unreasonable maneuvers and the unpredictability of the vehicles ahead. It happens that you are driving calmly, and suddenly a motorist, without first turning on the left or right indicator, begins to change lanes. Adrenaline rush, fear, you turn on all the senses. After all, the slightest carelessness can lead to tragic consequences. You can’t relax, the main thing is to concentrate on the road.
Biker and love
Although bikers are looking for reasons for the superiority of a “horse” over a friend and find as many as 45 of them (for example, your Motorcycle does not get upset when you forget about its birthday; Motorcycles do not become pregnant; Motorcycles do not have parents; your Motorcycle will not wake you up at 3 o'clock in the morning and ask if you love him...), it cannot be said that bikers are deprived of female attention. Yes, a biker's girlfriend - that sounds proud. But becoming one is not so easy. You need to meet a number of requirements. Namely: to be tolerant, calm, have strong nerves, and be able to make concessions. Yes, in general, everything, like with ordinary people, depends on the individual. But one thing is for sure: the biker’s girlfriend is unlikely to listen to pop music.
Biker and music
Biker and pop music are incompatible. Another thing is rock music - music with the rhythm of a running engine and the speed of a rotating wheel. At the bike show you can see performances by various rock bands. Well-known (for example: “Black Obelisk”, “Aria”, “The King and the Clown”, “Legion”, “Leningrad”) and not so well-known.
Law-abiding and not quite, combining beer with vodka, wisdom with recklessness, tenderness with courage, eternity with immediacy - bikers are what they are.
Grigory Kochergin is an experienced biker.
And in first place, of course, is the Hells Angels.
The most famous motorcycle club in the United States and the largest motorcycle club in the world, Hell's Angels MC needs no introduction. Many people associate the emergence of motorcycle clubs in general as a phenomenon with the emergence of Hell's Angels MC somewhere in the 1940-50s. Everything would be fine, but the theory is refuted by Outlaws MC with their earlier start.
The logo of this motorcycle club is copied from the logo of the 85th Fighter Squadron and 552nd Bomber Squadron of the United States, which took part in World War II. There are club chapters on all continents, including New Zealand. There is one in Russia too.
Serious guys, if this girl had pigtails, I wouldn’t pull them on her.
The Hells Angels became famous for their numerous bloody wars with other motorcycle clubs. In 1969, the Rolling Stones hired Angels to provide security at a concert that resulted in the death of one of the fans.
Another high-profile incident occurred in Nevada, at the Jara Casino, where three people died as a result of a conflict between the Hells Angels and Mongols MC. A member of the Mongols MC club was fatally stabbed and two members of the Hells Angels motorcycle club were shot dead.

Main types of motorcycle clubs
- MG
- MotoGang - a “gangster” motorcycle club with a very strict hierarchy and goals and objectives hidden from the public. There is no known use of this abbreviation by any club on a regular basis until the 90s of the 20th century, so the Russian motorcycle club Night Wolves should be considered the first club to fully associate itself with “MG”, although individual appearances of this abbreviation are known from archival photographs of members Bandidos MC. - MC
- Motorcycles Club - a traditional motorcycle club with a clear hierarchy, strict rules and customs, sometimes differing from club to club. There are often additional restrictions for club membership: only men, non-homosexuals, possible racial criteria, sometimes restrictions on the class and/or brand of motorcycle (for example, Hell's Angels MC). . - MCC
- MotorCycles Community - a simplified version of MC. Unlike previous structures, it may not have a rigid hierarchy and adhere to more liberal requirements for membership, including freely accepting women as full members, etc. Most often in world practice they have patches on the chest or sleeve, or a one-piece patch on the back. It is necessary to clarify that in Russia the structure of the MCC is somewhat different from global practice: for example, the use of three-part stripes indicating the area behind the lower rocker is widespread, which is completely unthinkable in the West, because is a hallmark of 1% MS. In general, the MSU in Russia should be perceived as a regular MS with all the traditional requirements, but giving more personal freedom to its members.
There are also many other types of clubs, such as LE MC
(Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club) is a motorcycle club consisting only of people who serve or have ever served in any state law enforcement agency: police, army, Ministry of Emergency Situations, etc. (For example, Guardsmen LE MC is the only Law Enforcement motorcycle club in Russia) ;
CMC
(Christian Motorcycles Club) - the ideology is based on the ideas of Christianity;
RC
(Riders Club) - lovers of riding motorcycles, usually without any hierarchy, status and strict rules;
OC
(Owners Club) - an association of motorcycle owners from the same manufacturer (for example, HOG - Harley Owners Group);
FMC, WMC
(Female Moto Club, Women Moto Club) - a motorcycle club whose members can only be women; and etc.
Sparrow Hills
The most favorite place for the capital’s motorcyclists remains the observation deck on Vorobyovy Gory, or, as bikers also call it, simply “The Mountain”.
A variety of representatives of the biker subculture gather here. In the summer, on the “Mountain” you can meet hundreds of motorcyclists of all ages and on all possible motorcycles. There is no division between chopper riders and sport bikers. Here you can see motorcycles made by yourself, motorcycles with engines from a car. People come here not so much to ride their iron horse (after all, this is a busy part of the city), but to communicate with like-minded people, show off their new acquisitions, or go on a romantic hunt among individuals of their own subspecies. And this is where the opening of the motorcycle season takes place every year. In addition, the panoramic observation deck “Sparrow Hills” is a place that will allow you to truly feel the scale of the capital and see a large number of attractions at once.
It is difficult to determine the exact address of the location of bikers on the “Mountain”, since at different times of the year the number of motorcyclists coming here ranges from several tens to several thousand bikers. It’s no wonder that one observation deck is too small for so many motorcyclists. However, the traditional address of the “gathering” on the “Mountain” is considered to be the Observation Deck on Vorobyovy Gory: the intersection of the street. Kosygin and Universitetsky proezd (Vorobyovy Gory metro station).
If the “Mountain” is, first of all, a place of communication, then in order to test their motorcycles in action, bikers meet on Khodynskoye Field. Once upon a time there was an airfield on the airfield, so the place for races is really very suitable. However, here the address is even more difficult to determine: the meeting participants agree on the exact place and time of the meeting in advance, sometimes on Internet resources dedicated to motorcycle fraternities. Address: Khodynsky field, Khodynsky boulevard.
Spiritual strength
– Why do all motorcyclists strive to tune their vehicles as much as possible? Do subculture, fashion, the desire to stand out influence?
– Each of us is individual, so some people don’t want there to be two identical motorcycles in the city: they paint them, change parts... And big “roaring” pipes are made not only because of fashion. They are also installed for safety purposes. So that the driver can not only be seen, but also heard. Although many people don't like the volume. You can understand the residents when motorcycles scream outside their windows at night and don’t let them sleep. I don't welcome this. Leather jackets are equipment and also safety. And chains and rings are attributes of rock culture. Because it is believed that initially motorcycles were a type of transport for rockers.
– Do bikers have any signs?
– We are often asked the question: why are skulls painted on the clothes of motorcyclists? There is one sign associated with this. If a person has an image of a skull, then death sees that he is already dead and does not touch him.
Death on the road. Over 5 months, more than 130 residents of the region died in road accidents Read more
– At first glance, bikers are tough and rude people, but they actively help animals and sick children. And they have golden hands. For example, you and your comrades are restoring a temple. Why do you need this?
– I’m not a priest, although in defense of the biker priests I can say that there is nothing special about this. Motorcyclists are the same people, not a separate caste. They can be both priests and teachers. If you get on a motorcycle, this does not mean that your worldview changes.
Yes, we communicate in Krasnoyarsk through clubs, unite and help orphanages. We conduct classes on traffic rules in schools and boarding schools. The guys look at us with such delight! They listen carefully. We are like superheroes to them. You can see the genuine joy in their eyes when we let them sit behind the wheel. Don't try to hide children from motorcycles
It’s better to tell them from childhood how important it is to follow traffic rules, be careful and not drive around the city. I want to say to parents whose children (of course, have already reached adulthood) are interested in motorcycles
There is no need to forbid them to ride a bike, tell them scary stories and constantly remind them of accidents. Better support them in this hobby.
Bikers are helping to restore an ancient church. Photo: From the archive/ Alexander Shestakov
And the idea to help restore the temple appeared by chance. I just saw this old abandoned building and decided to help. It turned out that this is an architectural monument. For the fifth year now, my friends and I have been restoring the ancient Church of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa in the village of Barabanovo. It is located 60 km from Krasnoyarsk. They replaced the supporting beams, replaced the roof, installed new bells, and built a porch - exactly as it was in the original. Services are already taking place there now. But there are still at least ten years to go.
Ducati 1199 Panigale
The Ducati 1199 Panigale is another superbike motorcycle that the Italian company mass-produced between 2011 and 2015. It can reach speeds of up to 300 km/h. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 3.6 seconds. After a short break, during which restyling was carried out, the new model 1299 Panigale, which has a larger engine displacement, rolled off the assembly line.
This series rightfully claims to be the best in its class, but let’s return to the 1199 Panigale, which at the time of its release was considered revolutionary not only for Ducati, but also for the entire motorcycle industry as a whole. The new product was presented at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan. Connoisseurs and connoisseurs were amazed by the amazing combination of power (195 hp at 10,750 rpm), compactness, lightness and Italian elegance. 1199 Panigale is like a beast of prey: graceful and strong, under whose deceptive fragility lies steel muscles. The strong combination of black and red makes the appearance of Ducati's creation striking, but not devoid of grace.
The dry weight of the superbike is only 164 kg. When developing the two-cylinder engine, a special magnesium alloy was used, which made the motorcycle lighter and increased strength. The model's interchangeable modes are switched with just one click of a button and allow the motorcyclist to fully control the control process.
To achieve such an amazing effect, the company's designers introduced almost all the leading technologies in the superbike class into the model: DTC, ABS, DES, EBS, RbW, DQS. Subsequently, two more versions were released: the Ducati 1199 Panigale S and the Ducati 1199 Panigale S Tricolore. The first comes with an updated suspension, while the second has been updated with carbon fiber parts and has a bright paint job.
The best bikes in Russia
In our country, motorcycle is also considered a way of life. There are a lot of connoisseurs of this transport here, which is why there are the most popular models on the Russian market.
Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200. Considered to be every biker's dream, the style, design, handling and performance are truly impressive. The model is equipped with a powerful engine with two chrome-plated mufflers and air cooling, which allows you to reach high speeds on the roads and make driving enjoyable and extreme. The biker's motorcycle makes a sound that only pleases the ear. The model is very stylish and covered with racing stripes. Honda VT-750. This motorcycle is suitable for travelers and lovers of classic style. Models have been produced since 1983 to the present. Engine power is no more than 66 horsepower, which allows you to reach average speed and just enjoy the ride. The maximum fuel tank capacity of a biker motorcycle is 14 liters, but may vary slightly between models. On the Russian market, such a bike with mileage can be bought for 115,000 rubles, without mileage - $3,000. Suzuki GSX-R 600. These motorcycles have been produced for bikers since 1992
This sports vehicle attracts attention with its colorful design and efficiency. However, it makes no sense to ride it on uneven surfaces - the Suzuki is not suitable for this
The motorcycle allows the driver to select operating modes of the 126 horsepower engine. The bike accelerates to an impressive speed of 259 km/h. However, it has a significant drawback - high fuel consumption. On average it takes 6 liters per 100 kilometers. The gas tank capacity is 17 liters. The bike is more than 2 meters long.
TOP 6 modern motorcycle designs to choose from
TOP 6 motorcycles were selected based on experience gained, market research, and a survey of professional and layman reviews. Each TOP-6 model presented, however, was evaluated from different points of view. Therefore, you should understand why motorcycles from early releases are still the best options in relation to completely new models.
Model #1: "Kawasaki Ninja 400"
Lightweight (166 kg fully packed), having a working volume of 399 cm3, practical, endowed with a bright appearance, the Kawasaki Ninja 400 is a good choice for beginners. The device will help you quickly learn how to drive skillfully without earning fines for speeding.
Development aimed at delivery in 2021. One of the most successful models, which should be considered a good choice for a novice motorcyclist
There are many other road-oriented sport bikes, but most have single-cylinder engines that tend to vibrate at high highway speeds.
The two-cylinder Kawasaki Ninja 400 motorcycle moves smoothly in highway conditions and does not create difficulties for the owner in parking lots.
Actually, the device is a clear example of the formula that Kawasaki engineers have been improving for decades. The 2021 model is virtually identical to the 2021 version, so the slightly dated version promises to perform just as well.
Model #2: Triumph Thruxton RS
The Triumph line represents modern motorcycles, among which the Thruxton RS model stands out. The original version of the design was released in 2021 and immediately received high praise for the modern, sporty, comfortable product.
A classic of the genre, but slightly modified by Triumph specialists. Without any particular difficulties, this motorcycle moved into the TOP 6, despite the crazy competition in this area of production
They tried to disguise this motorcycle as a beautiful classic racing system. Seems to have worked, given updates such as:
- rear suspension "Öhlins",
- dual 310mm Brembo front brakes,
- Metzler Racetec mud tires,
- lightweight battery.
The parallel twin engine with a displacement of 1200 cm3 easily generates power of 103 hp. The total weight of the structure is 196 kg, thanks to thinner engine parts and a lighter chassis. The device is characterized by low torque, comfortable steering and smooth dynamism.
Model #3: “Ducati Panigale V2”
This is not the fastest motorcycle available for purchase yet. At the same time, for traveling on public roads with speed limits and vehicle weights, the Ducati Panigale V2 demonstrates performance. The system power is 155 hp. This is more than enough for any level of rider, plus the bike is easy to handle in crowded intersections.
The technology stands out as a clear prototype of modern innovation, even purely externally. What can we say about the internal filling? A successful buyer will answer this question
Engine displacement is 955 cm3, weight is 200 kg. The system has electronic means that help you literally “squeeze” through narrow areas. Worth mentioning is the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), which detects lean angle and informs the braking and traction control systems. High-tech, fast, visually exciting, the Panigale V2 is a Ducati signature.
Model #4: "KTM 790 Adventure R"
Unlike the huge 1000cc-plus engines found in big dirt bikes, the KTM 790 Adventure R's 790cc parallel-twin engine feels small and easy to handle.
The device seems to be specially created for operation in rough terrain. This motorcycle, called the KTM 790 Adventure R, has nothing superfluous, and at the same time has everything
A typical KTM detail is the elimination of unnecessary bodywork and weight-saving accessories. All this makes the KTM 790 Adventure R motorcycle maneuverable and controllable in uneven road conditions, especially on rough surfaces with sand and mud.
In addition to everything mentioned, high-tech aspects such as traction control and color schemes should be noted. , by the way, takes engine durability testing to the extreme. More than four dozen testers work on dynamometers for 180 hours without a break.
Model #5: Harley-Davidson Street Glide
A parallel twin V engine with a displacement of 1754 cm3 and a weight of more than 360 kg are, however, not the main attractions of the motorcycle. A technique of “serious” execution, in fact, is quite capable of replacing the popular passenger car today for the purpose of long-distance travel.
Long-distance travel is the main purpose of this type of motorcycle and, in particular, the “Street Glide” model. A kind of “house” on wheels will prevent you from experiencing discomfort on the road
The Street Glide model features a number of modern amenities:
- color touch screen,
- "kick start" function
- Cruise control,
- anti-lock braking system taking into account the angle of inclination.
The front and rear brakes of the machine are linked, which helps the huge bike stop safely in any driving situation.
But the system's main appeal is its long, squat design and torque-oriented motor, allowing the Street Glide to power through corners and long straightaways with ease.
Model #6: “Zero SR/S”
is one of the few companies that have been producing electrical structures for more than ten years. The “Zero SR/F” electric motorcycle model with fairings and windshield stands out for its comfortable ride at speeds above average city speeds.
A relatively new phenomenon of our time is the electric model of a motorcycle vehicle. There are some restrictions on range, but otherwise there are clear advantages
Despite the massive design (weight 230 kg), the torque of 190 Nm allows achieving vehicle performance comparable to the range of many sports gasoline models. Premium components include:
- adjustable suspension "Showa",
- brakes "J.Juan" (Spanish manufacturer),
- ABS from ,
- traction control system,
fully compensate for the high market price of an electric machine. By the way, the efficiency of the “Zero SR/S” is noted due to fast charging and increased driving range. The base model charges from a J1772 series charger in approximately four hours.

Motorcycles - determination of speed parameters of equipment
A motorcycle's acceleration and maximum speed ratings are often determined by cylinder displacement or cubic centimeters. This parameter is directly related to the volume of air and fuel that enters the motorcycle’s cylinders for subsequent ignition and energy creation.
Fast off-road dual-sport bikes and motorcycles for beginners usually have a cylinder displacement of 250-400 cc.
Middle class equipment in retro style, for different roads and highways, as a rule, has a working volume from 650 to 900 cm3.
High-speed superbikes, adventure motorcycles and Sons of Anarchy cruisers are traditionally endowed with a displacement of at least 1000 cm3.
The world of modern vehicles - motorcycles - is measured by the huge number of models released from production. Among this variety it is quite difficult to choose the best device.
However, the expressed power parameters of a motorcycle do not always determine the quality of the application. In most cases, it is more practical to get everything out of a motorcycle to the limit, rather than using only a small part of the potential of a racing superbike.
You need to accurately determine your own level of skill and riding style in order to become a truly happy owner of a motorcycle.
Motorcycles - a kind of introduction to beginners
As of 2021, high-tech safety features such as traction control are already evident. Even motorcyclist equipment now includes the use of personal airbags.
Starting and stopping the engine without a key has become commonplace. Transmissions have appeared that predict and prevent unexpected stops. In general, there are a sufficient number of options for choosing a motorcycle, but there is always room for favorites.
If the attitude towards the brand is not a determining factor, an effective way to choose a suitable motorcycle is to see the conditions - where and how to ride. It's not for nothing that almost every motorcycle manufacturer produces at least one model of each genre. For example, produces:
- off-road and at the same time city motorcycle (Scrambler),
- racing superbike (Panigale V4R),
- cruiser (Diavel),
- ergonomic biker model (Multistrada),
- electric mountain bike (E-MTB).
As soon as the potential owner of the equipment determines what type of device is required, you can begin to compare with those designs of TOP-6 motorcycles that are presented here, but a little lower.
For tourism
If you want to go to another city, and even with a travel companion, then you won’t find a better option. For long journeys, there is everything here: a large fuel tank, space for luggage, safety equipment, speakers for listening to music, cruise control. And most importantly, the engine runs at low speeds. It is unlikely that you will be able to accelerate to an unattainable speed.
Sports tourer
Their only drawback is their remarkable weight, reaching up to 400 kg. We warn you that if you have never bought a motorcycle and got on it for the first time, then you should abandon the idea of buying a tourer. This “monster” does not like low speeds, and a person without experience will not be able to maneuver it between cars or on narrow streets.
Lux tourer
An expensive modification is not intended for every tourist. Of course, the price is comparable to the quality, but you can still find a cheaper option, with the same extras. functions: voluminous sweaters, wind protection, air conditioning, traffic navigation, heated steering wheel and armrests for the passenger.
Yamaha V-Max 1700: 0-100 km/h – 2.6 sec
Yamaha V-Max is one of the greatest successes of the Japanese company. Although this powerful muscle bike was never easy to ride, and 145 km could easily leave a rider unsettled and not necessarily where he wanted to go, the no-nonsense V-Max is still very emotional and... still beautiful.
Yamaha-V-Max-1700
V-Max appeared in 1985 and was produced until 2006 in its original form. The 1198cc engine produced 102Nm of torque at 3000rpm, as the V-Max was based on the powerful HotRody, the car had a dry weight of 283kg and a solid 150/90-15 rear wheel.
The V-Max was equipped with the famous V-Boost system, which caused a sudden and difficult to control increase in power around 5500 rpm. Along with weak brakes and soft suspension, the V-Max was moody and unpredictable in corners, but it later turned out that this was also part of its legend. In addition, this muscular motorcycle had a huge appetite for fuel, hated wet roads and... evoked passionate glances from anyone who met it on the road.
The V-Max looked like the embodiment of the American superhero myth, which it owed to its beautiful lines with open, snorting air intakes and an amazing V4 in the frame. This bike was – and still is – beautiful. And considering that it was created more than thirty years ago, we can conclude that the specialists from Yamaha have created a motorcycle that is timeless.
Yamaha-V-Max-1700
The new 2009 Yamaha VMAX is a different story, but that doesn't mean it's any worse. The mass of this giant is up to 310 kilograms (dry). Engine capacity 1679 cc. cm produces 200 hp. at 9000 rpm and 166 Nm at 6500 rpm. It's just a monster that can also escape fire just as well as its athletic cousins.

Main varieties
So, we figured out who the bikers are, now it should be noted that there are quite a large number of subgroups within this subculture. In addition, it must be said that the person who bought the motorcycle is not a biker. Here you still need to be imbued with philosophy.
Among the most common groups are:
- show-offers. These people may not know what a bike is, but they buy the coolest vehicles. As a rule, motorcycles are used to get to the party, but they appear on the road rarely and reluctantly. At the same time, this type of biker adheres to the rules of the road. But they also love driving. But the main goal here is to demonstrate various tricks at special venues;
- militant motorcyclists. These are people who grew up watching action movies with an emphasis on bikes. As a result, they behave just like in the films. Mostly, these are either small companies or individuals who very often engage in criminal activities. They are not interested in the philosophy of the subculture. As a rule, parties are avoided;
- benchers. Such a person gets involved in the culture, attends meetings, knows exactly who a biker is. But this is only in theory. In practice, benchers don’t even have motorcycles for one reason or another. Often, when a person does have the opportunity to purchase motorcycle equipment, he cannot join the organization, since reality does not somewhat coincide with his ideas;
- talkers. Their appearance is associated with the development of the Internet. Yes, these people have bikes, they use them to get to work, show off in a parade, attend a party. But chatterboxes spend more time discussing biker philosophy on the Internet. Even though talkers are not into the spirit of bikers, they love to flaunt their ideas;
- real bikers. Since childhood, such people love freedom, the road and, of course, motorcycles. For them, driving along the highway is not just a way to get from one point to another. No, this is the real meaning of life, while the motorcycle turns into your best friend. Real bikers don't like showing off, and if they do something, they know why. Each element of symbolism is part of their life and philosophy. Moreover, such people are always ready to help on the road.
It is worth noting that in recent years many biker clubs have begun to emerge in our country. At the same time, they don’t accept just anyone, the selection is very strict and thorough, so that each member not only has a good chopper or sports bike, but also follows certain principles and codes. At the same time, some people prefer to remain single. After all, a biker is freedom, and any organization, as they believe, can already limit it.
BMW S 1000RR
The superbike produced by BMW Motorrad was first presented to the general public in 2008. The company's designers have always approached their developments with pedantry, characteristic only of the Germans. This applied to both cars and motorcycles. The BMW S 1000 RR became the world's first track sports bike that can be ridden on regular tracks.
The model's capabilities were tested by the BMW Motorrad Motorsport team at a worldwide competition. The agile superbike can reach speeds of up to 289 km/h and accelerates to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds. An enthusiastic public waited for mass production a year later, and already in 2012 the company presented the second generation HP4. The model is equipped with a calibrated ECU for increased mid-range power and a new DDC suspension system.
HP4 became an intermediate modification, the production of which lasted only one year. In 2014, in Cologne, BMW presented the latest version, which was strikingly different from the previous two. Engine power and torque were increased, the weight of the superbike was reduced, the cylinder head was redesigned, a larger airbox was installed and two new riding modes were added. Although the first generation BMW S 1000 RR required improvement, German designers managed to significantly raise the bar in the sportbike class.
Travel → Three days of adventure in the sands. Kinburn.
Sands are a rather difficult place for motor vehicles, and the sands of the Kinburn Peninsula are even more so. I know many stories about how tourists on heavy vehicles such as “geese” and “tener” turned around after 5-10 km of these “roads”. Personally, I have been rolling these sands regularly since 2007, so they don’t seem so scary to me.
This time we decided to go in a whole crowd. The equipment was varied, here you have Amarok with Padzherik, and Gus with the Chinese. At the same time, Gusevod and motorists covered this route for the first time behind the wheel. You can see everything we got in the video. I guarantee the quality and beauty of the content. Enjoy watching!
Custom
The name itself originated in North America and means “do-it-yourself.” They try to change the design and appearance in such a way that there is practically no overlap with the original version. As a rule, manual overhaul is used for cars that take prizes in racing competitions. Here you will actually not find parts from the catalog; they all have an exclusive variation. The main advantage is the adjustment of all parameters to the rider’s body. Many modern manufacturers have borrowed the most interesting things from the “dealers”. For example, they install a longer rack or front fork, bent tanks, unusual handlebars and mufflers. The latest fashion is fish wings.
Scrambler
Reworked classics. They are used for everyday life and for off-road driving.
Distinctive characteristics:
- reduction in bulk;
- installation of studded tires;
- the length of the frame is much shorter;
- The muffler is raised.
Bobbers
Designed for racing, the design removes anything that gets in the way of fast driving.
During reconstruction, the product loses:
- fender liner on the front wheel;
- brakes;
- dashboard;
- windshield;
- insignificant fasteners.
To add lightness, heavier parts such as the saddle, headlight, battery and fuel tank are replaced with similar smaller elements.
Choppers
The main thing in heavy equipment is its appearance. For bikers, engine power comes last. Still, a feature of homemade products is the replacement of plastic parts with chrome ones.
In addition, a true connoisseur will be able to easily distinguish a chopper from other equipment by such parameters that are striking upon visual inspection:
- The two-level seat is lowered to its lowest height. This position allows the owner to stretch his legs rather than bend them, as when riding other bikes.
- Extended steering wheel.
- Fuel tank in the shape of a water droplet.
Dragster is one of the different types and models of motocross motorcycles
Designed for wrestling in races of 0.4 kilometers, therefore they are equipped with a highly accelerated engine. In addition, the design itself is much longer than usual, and the rear wing is equipped with feathers so that the wheel cannot tip over during a rapid start. Since during the race the racer adds nitromethane and nitric oxide to the fuel, the tank is made of fire-resistant material to prevent fire.
Rating of sports motorcycles for beginner bikers
The list is presented starting from 10th place. As you get acquainted, you can understand why the models are given different rating lines.
- In 10th place is the Kawasaki Ninja 250 sport bike of the EX250L series. The motorcycle is characterized by a 2-cylinder 250 cc engine with fuel injection. The rear tire is slightly wider than the front, which makes it easy to handle. The weight of the bike is 172 kg. The tank can hold 17 liters of fuel. Maximum speed - 152 km. A characteristic feature is good traction at low and medium speeds. The downsides are the lack of an ABS system and a non-adjustable fork. This is a compact 32 horsepower motorcycle that is suitable for oversized guys and gals. One of the undeniable advantages is cost.
- In 9th position is an improved version of the Kawasaki Ninja 250 ABS. The motorcycle took a higher position than the same Kawasaki Ninja 250, but of the EX250L series due to the presence of an anti-lock braking system indicated in its markings. This feature made it 2 kg heavier - 174 kg. Also in the designated version, the Ninja 250 has a softer ride and less vibration: the result of changes in the suspension tuning. More safety with the same characteristics as its predecessor Kawasaki Ninja 250 EX250L from position 9 allowed it to take a higher place.
- In 8th place is the Yamaha YZF-R25, presented in 2014. It is characterized by almost 36 horsepower and a 249 cc engine. The place in the ranking is ensured by the commendable ratio of engine power and cubic capacity. For comparison: some models with 300 “cubes” have only 3 more horsepower than this “baby”. One of the nuances is the 14-liter tank, which limits the driver over long distances. However, this feature is compensated by a soft telescopic fork and pendulum suspension, which soften jerks when braking. A weight of 166 kg is just right for very young motorcyclists: such a unit is easier to hold and steer during drifts. The Yamaha YZF-R25 is unlikely to be suitable for high-speed acceleration, but for maneuvers on city streets and overtaking passenger cars in traffic jams and at traffic lights - it’s easy. A separate line about the design: it repeats in detail the “appearance” of liter and one and a half liter motor vehicles, which allows its owner to create the image of a respectable reckless driver.
- 7th place goes to Yamaha FZ6 Fazer. With a 600 cc engine, the motorcycle weighs 186 kg. This is partly due to the solid steel frame. It is characterized by excellent handling due to the wide steering wheel and massive tires. The attention of passers-by is attracted by the expressive design: the front of the bike resembles a flying wasp. The downside is the lack of front fork travel, so street riding requires good road surfaces. The ABS system is only available in European models, and is not available in Asian editions.
- 6th place is occupied by the Yamaha YZF-R3 with 42 horsepower contained in a 320 cm3 engine. The weight of the motorcycle is 169 kg: the average among top models. This line was given to him for his capabilities on the track, because the line of sports bikes was created specifically for high-speed riding on specialized sites. The Yamaha YZF-R3 corners perfectly, which is invaluable for such a “baby.” There are some nuances: the angle of inclination is limited by the footrest. For a novice racer this is not a hindrance. The model is good for solo driving without passengers. There is little space in the back and it is difficult to keep your feet on the pegs for long due to their narrowness. This motorcycle is worth buying for those bikers who intend to improve their sports handling skills on the track and adhere to speed limits on the streets. They can surprise their colleagues at the wheel precisely on turns. The YamahaYZF-R3 is unbeatable in its category.
- 5th place goes to the British bike Triumph DAYTONA 675. The average place in the overall ranking is due to the early release of the model - 2005. More than 10 years of driving experience have shown that this is a reliable, fast motorcycle. 125 horsepower is enough to feel the power of a sports model. The design looks retro, but this is not a hindrance to those motorcyclists for whom the “filling” is more important than the “skin.” Powerful brakes, adjustable racing suspension and a 4-stroke 675cc engine are what the “British” admires. Maximum acceleration reaches almost 250 km/h. It's a shame that UK motorcycles aren't as common as Asian brands.
- In 4th place is the Kawasaki Ninja 400R. Almost 400 cm3 and 44 horsepower is the optimal ratio of parameters, suitable for beginners and at the same time cautious motorcyclists. The Kawasaki Ninja 400R ranks higher than bikes with more power due to its digital ignition and ABS braking system. It is characterized by a simply awesome sporty design: it is impossible not to turn around at a passing Kawasaki Ninja 400R. The weight reaching 200 kg prevented us from taking the line higher.
- The 3rd position in the rating of sports bikes for beginners is given to the “Japanese” - Honda CBR650F. The Japanese released the first copy in 2014. The 650 cc engine is an excellent option for both beginners and experienced motorcyclists. The first will be able to learn how to squeeze the gas on the court, and the second will be able to apply their skills on the track. Smooth power delivery and ABS are what beginners need and allow experienced bikers to enjoy. A smooth, linear increase in speed is the result of a two-way connection of current to the valves. This feature makes it a virtually fail-safe mechanism in terms of feedback from the front wheel. I am pleased with the relatively low cost of the motorbike - the result of assembly in Thai factories.
- No. 2 in the top is the small-capacity sportbike KTM RC390. A compact model with sporty characteristics, which has become an excellent option for young people. The weight of 147 kg and the high maneuverability of the motorcycle allow you to traverse the surface of the highway onto motorcycle tracks on weekends and deftly maneuver through traffic jams in everyday megacities. The seating here is not for everyone: a low driver's angle and the presence of a “humpbacked divider” between the driver and passenger seats. This position is unlikely to be suitable for a long drive, but for a spectacular appearance in city traffic, yes. The anti-lock brake system will allow you to hold the bike in case of road force majeure, which is so necessary for novice bikers. At the same time, the design of the KTM RC390 allows for the improvement of skills over several years. For example, a narrow front wheel with grippy Metzeler Sportec M5 tires is an opportunity to learn how to pilot the bike, tilting it almost all the way to the stand.
- The first position in the rating is the Suzuki GSX-R 600. People call it Jixer because of the model’s abbreviation. 600 “cubes” allow you to accelerate to 100 km/h in 3 seconds, and its maximum speed is 250 km/h. The motorcycle is produced from 1997 to 2011+. The weight is 187 kg, but the excellent braking system with a 4-piston caliper on the front wheel and a 2-piston caliper on the rear makes braking fast and smooth. The combination of aggressive design, excellent handling and trouble-free operation brought it to the first line of the top.
