This review will focus on the Honda Tact AF 24, which was produced between 1989 and 1998. Thanks to the suspension and brakes, the scooter is positioned as a comfortable means of transportation over rough terrain. The Honda Tact AF 24 scooter is a continuation of the legendary line, one of the most popular models. The scooter is the progenitor of the AF 30/31, which is essentially a modified version with an improved design and improved construction. Let's take a closer look at the Takt AF 24 model: we'll look at the appearance, technical characteristics, as well as the main advantages and disadvantages.
Appearance
The Honda Tact AF 24 does not have any distinctive features from the scooters of the 90s: a completely plastic body with clips, mounting points for cases, baskets and a trunk. The rectangular headlight is combined with turn signals, and there are removable rear-view mirrors on the steering wheel.

The instrument panel is traditional: mechanical speedometer, odometer, fuel level sensor, oil sensor. The “prehistoric” narrow tidy is made in black and white.

Sitting together on a fairly short seat is difficult. Under the saddle there is a compact trunk that can accommodate hand luggage, a first aid kit, keys, documents, etc. The area for the luggage compartment is located directly under the brake light, divided into two parallel horizontal stripes. Also, hand luggage can be placed in an additional compartment located in front of the driver.
Parameters of the Honda Tact AF24 scooter
Total length – 1655 mm, width – 640 mm, height – 995 m. The wheelbase size is 1170 mm, and the ground clearance is 100 mm. Seat height – 725 mm. Dry weight is 66 kg, loaded - 71 kg. Load capacity is standard, 150 kg (the scooter can carry a passenger). The volume of the fuel tank is 4.8 liters.
The steering column panel of the Honda Tact AF 24 contains a compartment for small items.
Honda Dio AF27
Honda Dio AF27 is the most common and beloved scooter among the people. It has a fairly modern design, was produced from 1991 to 1999, which indicates that Japanese consumers also appreciated its advantages (as a rule, scooters are produced for 4 years, then another model replaces it, and this model was produced in parallel with the next AF34-35) .
Structurally, the scooter repeats the first sign in the DIO AF18 family, the same suspension, the same brakes - the simplicity of the design and high reliability is the success of this series. The underseat space has been increased compared to the Dio AF18 due to the battery being moved to the rear of the scooter. The lighting optics have been changed.
The engine was installed in two types; in principle, apart from the crankshaft, they are no different. In the city, the Honda Dio AF27 will show good handling and a very smooth ride. The maximum speed is usually 60-65 km/h; on very lively specimens it can be 70. It is quite suitable for short trips around the city, to the store, to the garage, to work, and due to the larger seating than the previous model, two adults can fit on it (for driving together I recommend installing a reinforced shock absorber), it will not cause any difficulties with storage. Due to its low weight of 65 kg, dragging it onto, say, a balcony is no problem.
Technical characteristics of Honda Tact AF 24
At the front there is a pendulum lever fork, which has an obvious advantage over a telescopic fork: it is more suitable for riding on rough terrain due to its softness and “swallowing” of bumps. A monoshock absorber with a reinforced spring is installed on the rear wheel.
Average fuel consumption of Tact AF 24 is 1.9 liters per 100 km.
Honda engineers used the latest technology to develop the ideal (for that time) suspension, which will be comfortable when traveling on different roads.
Helpful information! Honda Tact has two versions: with and without Stand Up system. The option is an electric step, which is automatically positioned when the key is turned in the ignition.
Engine AF24E
The AF24E single-cylinder two-stroke engine with lobe valve timing and air cooling has a displacement of 50 cm3. Piston stroke – 39 mm, power 6.0 hp. at 6500 rpm. Torque – 6.9 N*m at 6000 rpm.
Honda Tact AF24, engine – AF24E, 2-stroke, 1 cylinder, 6 hp
Note! The same engine was installed on subsequent models of the Honda Tact line - AF 30/31.
The maximum speed, electronically limited, is 60 km/h. The scooter is undergoing tuning; Chinese switches are often installed in it, which remove the restriction. You should not experiment with this: the general “fatigue of the scooter” and the main components can play a cruel joke if you subject the engine to tuning.
Transmission and chassis
The Takt AF 24 is equipped with an automatic variator with an electric starter and kickstarter starting system. The front brakes are drum brakes, the rear brakes are also drum brakes.

Honda Dio AF18
Honda Dio AF18 is the simplest and most economical scooter.
Despite its unprepossessing appearance, it still enjoys well-deserved popularity, although it is already at least 15-20 years old. The secret of its popularity is its phenomenal endurance, unpretentiousness, and ease of maintenance. The scooter is equipped with a telescopic fork, which is suitable exclusively for urban use, as it is not able to provide a sufficient level of comfort on country roads. The scooter is conventionally a two-seater and is more likely to be suitable for two children or one adult and no more than 175 in height - it will be a bit cramped for two adults.
The controls are made according to the classical design. Everything is convenient and at hand, there is even a light switch button. On the move, it’s quite a high-spirited vehicle, traveling at 60-65 km/h. Maneuverability is at an average level, the suspension in the city is able to provide a minimum level of comfort. The trunk allows the installation of an additional trunk; it is also possible to install a basket in front. The scooter has won a lot of fans due to its low price and high consumer qualities. After purchase, we recommend installing a reinforced rear shock absorber; it will increase ground clearance and make travel more comfortable.
Comparison of Honda Tact AF24 and AF30
By and large, these two models are twins. Honda Tact AF30 has other years of production (1993-2001), differs in height (L 1655 x W 640 x H 1025, for AF24 – height 995 mm) and improved appearance. The 30th Tact has a little more power by 0.1 horsepower.
Honda Tact AF30 has slightly larger dimensions and allows you to comfortably carry a passenger thanks to the elongated saddle. The difference concerns the location of the fuel tank: in the Takt AF 24 it is located under the driver’s seat, and in the more recent version it is below the floor.
The turn signals in the 30th Stroke were separated from the headlights by plastic and became slightly smaller; the brake light was also changed - it became single and concave inward.
Honda Dio SR AF25
This model has a brother, the Honda Dio AF25 SR - it differs from the 18 in the presence of a front disc brake. In principle, for Dio’s speeds, a drum brake is quite enough for high braking efficiency.
Pros:
- simplicity of design,
- high maintainability,
- good supply of spare parts,
- high reliability,
- the ability to travel together for short distances.
Minuses:
- the suspension is conditionally suitable for suburban use due to its small stroke and design,
- outdated design.
Honda Tact AF24 price
Prices for such scooters are constantly falling. You can buy a Honda Tact AF 24 scooter on the Russian used market. The starting price is about 10 thousand rubles for “killed” copies. A scooter in decent condition with documents will cost about 20-25 thousand. You can also order equipment from Japan without having traveled across the Russian Federation. In this case, the price will rise to 40-45 thousand rubles.

Honda Dio Z4
Honda Dio Z4 - a continuation of the Honda Dio Smart AF56 series, is very similar to its cheaper brother. It features a full hydraulic fork, a disc brake, a spoiler and cast aluminum wheels. The engine is tuned for more dynamic driving than the usual DIO AF56, the power supply system is injector, equipped with an Idle-stop system: when idling for more than 30 seconds, the engine is turned off and started by turning the throttle. The scooter is equipped with an anti-theft system - blocking the footrest in the seat tank. In terms of handling, smoothness, and ergonomics, just like the Honda Dio Smart AF56, the Honda Z4 is beyond any praise; it will appeal to young people for its stylish, aggressive design.
Pros:
- efficiency,
- ergonomics,
- powerful lighting technology,
- almost silent,
- possibility of use in any area,
- conditionally double (suitable for short trips for two).
Honda Dio Smart
Honda Dio Smart is a very economical, low-noise scooter. A 4-stroke liquid cooling system is installed in the cast aluminum frame. The dynamics, contrary to popular belief, are quite decent and you feel quite confident in city traffic. Handling, ergonomics, cornering are beyond praise - Honda engineers did their best, it is a benchmark for this class of scooters.
The light optics are powerful - the head light is 40 watts, the headlight is almost like a car's. The seat allows two adults of average build to ride. Fuel consumption when driving at full throttle is 2 liters per hundred. Equipped with a dynostarter – i.e. The moped does not have a starter as such - it starts itself with a generator, so the starting process is absolutely silent (another reason to surprise your friends). Honda Dio Smart AF 56 is equipped with a combi-brake system (part of the force from the rear brake is transferred to the front).
There is a modification of the Honda Dio AF57 - this is the same 56 only with a disc brake. From my point of view, it’s an almost ideal scooter for city driving, someone will echo - it doesn’t ride, I’ll object: when installing a tuning variator (available in the online store). Honda Dio Smart AF56 travels at 80 km/h, which is quite enough for driving around the city and on country roads.
It is simple and economical to maintain - it requires periodic engine oil changes, I recommend Castrol semi-synthetics for 4-stroke Castrol X-tra Scooter scooters, and replacing the filter cassette is disposable, like on cars (available in our online store).
There is an opinion that there are difficulties with spare parts for this scooter. Don't let this scare you. Firstly, if purchased correctly, it will last a very long time. Secondly, we have most of the original and non-original spare parts in our online store, everything else is delivered to order within 2-3 weeks.
Honda Dio ZX AF35
Honda Dio AF35 ZX is one of the most loved mopeds by young people due to its sporty nature and appearance. The above classification applies to it.
I recommend choosing the later versions with a hydraulic front wheel fork - it provides incomparable comfort compared to the conventional telescopic spring fork that was installed on the Honda Dio AF35 (1994-1996 onwards). The weak point, like any hydraulics, is the oil seals (available in our online store). Honda Dio AF35ZX will take root well both in the city and on a country road (options with front hydraulics).
In general, all Honda models tolerate suburban use well due to their design features. Thanks to the protection, it is almost impossible to tear off and jam the muffler - the moped is hit by the bottom protection or the protrusion of the step. The air intake is located quite high and ensures high tightness; it is important not to forget to clean the air filter in a timely manner. The only thing I recommend is the installation of reinforced rear shock absorbers, they will increase the ground clearance and allow two people to ride. Any Honda will be your faithful assistant in your business and entertainment.
