The history of the Honda CR125R cross-country motorcycle largely repeats the history of a chekka of the same brand, of the same class - the CR250R. Born in 1974 , it retained its original appearance for a long time; in 1998, it changed the frame material from steel to aluminum alloys.
Also closed in 2007, as the company switched entirely to the production of models with 4-stroke engines.
Therefore, it is not surprising that the models are considered sisters. Older and younger.
Since 1998, the model has received a number of minor changes that are designed to make the design lighter, as well as one major restyling - in 2005 .
Although there was no special connection to the sales market (you could buy a cross-country dog in any country), no one canceled the connection to the class. It was a sports equipment for which a PTS was not issued. Its appearance on public roads definitely led to problems with the traffic police (the Russian version is the traffic police).

Transmission and clutch
The motorcycle received a 5-speed gearbox.
As usual, the Honda gearbox did not cause any problems for the pilot. The gears shifted smoothly but clearly, the pedal travel was within reasonable limits, and neutral was also caught well.
The main drive is standard - chain .
Brakes
Front brakes.
Front wheel hub.
Rear brakes.
To save resources, the motorcycle received 1 disc per wheel . According to user reviews, the brakes work well, but the engine is so playful that sometimes you can overpress it and end up in a skid. However, for a motocross motorcycle this is normal.
The diameter of the brake rotors is 240 mm (the discs are identical). The front wheel is served by a 2-piston , the rear wheel by 1 .
No additional systems are provided.
Honda CRF125F chassis
The steel frame has a rudimentary design, and the steering geometry (27 degrees steering column angle, 8 centimeters of trail) provides stability rather than cross-country agility. The 31mm fork has 13cm of travel, and the Pro-Link rear wishbone suspension has 14cm of travel. The suspensions are perfectly tuned to the speed and capabilities of the ideal rider - that is, a young, small, light and skittish beginner. These suspensions allow you to understand what off-roading is all about, for example, easily and pleasantly passing the “washboard” and a series of bumps - especially if you are not in a hurry.
Of course, it’s a long way from jumping right away, but the Honda CRF125F satisfies the simple beginner needs perfectly, and when flight calls for the rider, it’s time to change the motorcycle to something more serious, and the little CRF will find a new happy owner, and thus will serve as a starting point for many guys, a training desk and a ticket to life. Despite the seemingly cross-country index of the CRF-F, this is rather an average off-road motorcycle, but since in the understanding of small cross-country bikes it is usually cooler than enduro, Honda made a very right move here.
The two-piston front caliper on a 220-mm disc and the rear drum (how is that possible?!) brake work quite well and allow you to learn how to operate five controls with just four limbs.
Off-road motorcycles, by nature, spend more time on the ground than any other motorcycle. And wisely, when choosing a motorcycle, you need to take into account the possibility of lifting it if it suddenly lies down. 88 kilograms of curb weight is quite acceptable for a teenager who is already almost adult height, albeit weaker. But this is until the motorcycle lies on top of the teenager himself - not every girl will be able to get out from under it, so she will have to help periodically. There is nothing to say about the importance of equipment.
The plastic of the motorcycle, of course, suffers slightly from this, and the steel brake pedal and the box tab bend. However, all components, except the clutch lever, are quite durable, but the lever withstood just a couple of hits. And unfortunately, this is a serious disadvantage of a training motorcycle: without protection of the levers, this will happen constantly.

Driving performance
Since the motorcycle is a sports bike, only the team mechanics had official information about the maximum speed. But the speed measured by users using GPS is only 90 km/h . It is useless to measure acceleration from zero to 100 km.
Fuel consumption
Consumption according to specifications is 5.6 liters per 100 km . Considering that the tank is only 7.5 liters, the average distance per fill-up should be more than 100 km . However, users note that such a distance will require refueling 2 times. According to estimates, one full tank is enough for about 90 km of travel. Not the best performance, but again, this is a motorcycle for sports competitions, and in such conditions, both the average consumption and the distance on 1 refueling do not play any special roles .
Fuel tank capacity is 7.5 liters (on the second generation – 7.7 liters).
Engine Honda CRF125F 2021
The two main features of the little Honda CRF125F are its comfortable, smooth clutch and its friendly, reliable engine. For the little ones, the ideal option is an automatic clutch, but for younger teenagers, the ability to properly operate a regular lever is a useful skill. The small, single-cylinder 125 cc air blower is equipped with one overhead camshaft and two valves, fuel injection and an electric starter. What's more, it's tuned for low-end thrust, making the CRF125F extremely easy to handle and comfortable for beginners with their hesitant left foot on the clutch and cautious right foot on the gas. Short programs also provide a certain pedagogical effect.
On the move, the soft traction characteristic allows you to feel the bike without being intimidated by it, and this has an interesting side effect. The low-end character of the engine is achieved at the expense of weak tops, which means that at some speeds no matter how much you open the gas, the motorcycle doesn’t really accelerate, it just vibrates and screams. The child would be happy to drive in one first gear, so as not to bother again - but no, he stops picking up speed quite early, and he has to learn to shift. Moreover, the top, fourth, gear is more than enough for a beginner, that is, few people at first are brave enough to accelerate it to maximum speed, and this is also good: there is some reserve of creative growth.

Modifications
The model has no official modifications.
But many people called the older sister - 250 cubes - such a modification . As mentioned, the history of bikes has been the same, so why not consider modifications? But the buyers did not agree. The fearful one was in great demand.
and competitors
Suzuki RM 125.
Kawasaki KX 125.
Yamaha YZ 125.
The racing segment is a very tasty morsel, so competitors did not want to leave the entire “pie” to Honda, presenting their own modifications.
- Suzuki offered the RM 125 . However, according to an incomprehensible idea from marketers, all products were sold only to the USA. Therefore, it did not receive much of an advantage in global sales.
- Kawasaki has revealed its answer - the KX125 . He did not do any special positioning by country, but the motorcycles were sent to Europe and America, North and South.
- Yamaha has released the YZ 125 . But she took into account the mistakes of the “yellows”, and having started sales in the USA, she gradually covered all other world markets. In addition, it did not curtail production and the brand new YZ 125 can be bought even in 2019 .
Advantages and disadvantages
As you would expect from a model with a 2T engine, it has many features in the fuel system. But the cross-country class and timely maintenance level them out.
- the reliable engine gave some of the more modern 4-stroke engines a run for their money;
- oil consumption is a common feature of 2t, since oil must be added at each refueling;
- sports suspension from Kayaba;
Adjustable upside-down fork.
Fully adjustable monoshock.
- simple maintenance;
- lack of a PTS and interest from the police if the pilot dares to go to additional traffic stops;
- the cost is comparable to the price of its older sister - in many ways this is what influenced the fact that the CR250 was bought more often;
Users noted that the bike handles perfectly, regardless of the quality of the surface on which you have to move - be it asphalt or off-road.
FIRST LOOK! BIG WHEEL HONDA CRF2019F & CRF125F 125
2019 Honda CRF250F Big Wheel.
CRF Performance Line technology such as fuel injection and twin-spar design are now added to the CRF Trail Line, propelling the 2019 CRF and '125 CRF125F Big Wheel into modern off-road motorcycles that maximize ride fun and enjoyment. Keihin's electronically controlled fuel injection system delivers smooth, smooth, linear power at any rpm and throttle setting - ideal for new riders and equally beneficial for experienced riders on technical trails or large elevation changes - and the model has 50 states off-road legal. The all-new twin-spar frame is crafted from steel and rigorously tested and engineered for a confidence-inspiring chassis, wrapped in new body panels and graphics that match those of the CRF model's racing siblings. Both CRF125F models retain the proven 124.9 cc. See SOHC engine and four-speed transmission for strong power and intuitive shifting feel. In terms of hardware, the two versions differ only in wheel size, swing arm length, and gearing, resulting in a 1.8-inch difference in seat height. Instructors or parents will appreciate the peace of mind that comes from setting the rider up with a reliable and nimble machine, and maintenance is made easy with fuel injection - there are no injectors to replace or clog with residual fuel if the bike sits for long periods of time. Electric start, low fuel indicator, ignition indicator and Honda's well-earned reputation for producing the highest quality, most reliable motorcycles on the track mean pride of ownership all week long and fun and thrills every weekend.
