- motorcycle model, Honda brand,
The Honda CBR900RR Fireblade motorcycle model series was introduced in 1992. The reason for the appearance of the model was Honda’s desire to offer the market a sports model with a displacement engine, but which would be comparable in weight and handling to mid-sized motorcycles. By the way, at that time in this class there were practically sports tourists - yes, the dynamic characteristics were very impressive, but the high curb weight and long wheelbase significantly worsened (by sports standards) handling and led to the fact that lighter 600s were outperformed by on the race track, their larger cubic-sized counterparts are precisely due to the higher speed in corners.
This is how the first model in the line was presented - the Honda CBR900RR Fireblade.
In 1995, the model underwent a slight restyling, receiving different headlights (“fox eyes”), front fork compression adjustment, a magnesium valve cover and other changes aimed at making the motorcycle lighter. The speedometer was electronically driven and took readings from the drive shaft.
Since 1996, the model has been updated to a new version - the Honda CBR919RR Fireblade. In addition to visual changes (notably a new headlight), the model receives a new engine, while increasing maximum power and torque characteristics, a new cartridge fork and a stainless muffler. Work has also been done to further reduce the weight of the motorcycle. In 1998, the model received larger brake discs and new calipers.
In 2000, the model underwent a major restyling, being updated to the next version - the Honda CBR929RR Fireblade. In addition to the appearance, the model receives a new engine, electronic fuel injection, inverted forks, regular-sized front wheels (17′), LCD speedometer and HISS immobilizer. The diameter of the front brake discs increases to 330 mm.
By 2002, the model undergoes a final change and changes its name to the Honda CBR954RR Fireblade. The model gets a new look, a new engine, a titanium exhaust and an LED brake light.
2003 was the last year of production of the model, after which it finally left the market, giving way to a new model - the Honda CBR1000RR.

- Owner's story about the Honda CBR1000RR.
Known around the world for its stunning speed and incredible dynamics, the CBR1000RR Fireblade
is an icon in the world of superfast motorcycles. As Honda celebrated 50 years of racing heritage in 2009, the CBR1000RR demonstrated its insatiable desire for victory. At the Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man, he took the top five positions in the Superbike class, allowing John McGuinness to take his fifteenth TT victory and set new lap and race records. However, a top-notch sportbike isn't always all about speed. From the very beginning of the production of this motorcycle in 1992, the concept of “absolute control” became a key concept in its development.
Since then, his story has been one of continuous success. Honda has continually improved this model's performance to deliver unwavering confidence both on the road and on the track.
First released in 1992, the CBR900RR immediately captured the attention of the entire motorcycle world. Its minimalist design has been stripped of any unnecessary weight
The development of subsequent generations also continued this trend, in addition paying attention to what was located near its center of gravity (centralization of mass). This made it possible to provide the motorcycle with characteristic agility and excellent stability. Thanks to its immediate response and predictable behavior both on long, long corners and on short, twisty corners, this motorcycle is unrivaled both on race tracks and on ordinary roads.
A new ultra-lightweight engine and a radically redesigned chassis for 2008 take the concept of “absolute control” to a new level, making the bike a new success. Inspired by the spirit of ancient Japanese craftsmanship and culture, and enhanced by improved aerodynamic properties, the new Fireblade is a masterpiece of engineering. The engine reacts responsively to any pressure on the gas, providing measured power delivery and precise acceleration. The new ultra-sleek cast aluminum frame balances the strength needed to hold engine power with the flexibility needed for maximum cornering grip. The centralization of mass contributed to the creation of a model of more compact dimensions, which allowed the rider to feel more free on this motorcycle and effectively distribute its own weight while riding.
For 2009, Honda once again embraced the philosophy of “absolute control” by offering Fireblade riders the option of high-performance electronically controlled Combined ABS, a revolutionary innovation for sports motorcycles. This was the first combined ABS specifically developed for Super Sports motorcycles. It provides the necessary feeling of control, while also having the light weight and carefully designed parameters that the fierce competition demands. CBR1000RR Fireblade
The 2010 model continues to be a huge success thanks to its sophisticated styling and improved performance that underscores its sporty image.

Appearance
Honda CBR 900 RR Fireblade looks typical for the series. The frame tightly covers the filling, and the colors are bright and sporty. The body lines are angular, but not too much. But the wheels here, although alloy, are still much more refined than those on most other sports bikes.
Otherwise the car looks quite normal. It is impossible to call a motorcycle the height of elegance. At least the later models. There is an important point to understand: the first car had the most harmonious design, with round headlights at the front. And then the design changed to suit new trends, and the motorcycle became more modern in appearance, but it was not possible to fundamentally change the design. For example, smooth out corners everywhere. That’s why in the end the model turned out to be modern, but in many ways it resembles the past.
What do the owners say?
Owners have different opinions. Some people think that the bike is too sharp, others, on the contrary, emphasize this as an advantage
One thing is clear: the car starts sharply, and it is important to move away carefully. And don’t think that this only applies to beginners. An experienced biker with excessive self-confidence sometimes finds himself in a dangerous situation
An experienced biker with excessive self-confidence sometimes finds himself in a dangerous situation.
The engine, judging by the reviews in various videos, is praised by almost everyone. And no one complains about reliability. As for standing on the rear wheel at first and second speeds, many are skeptical about the descriptions of those who have done this. And there are reasons for this. Putting a bike like this on the rear wheel at such low speeds is an art, if not impossible.
IMPORTANT! A person 183 cm tall will be comfortable on a bike. But if you are very tall, then when a person lies on the tank, he will be too close to the windshield, and there may not be enough space for his legs.. As for the dashboard and comfort in general, there are no complaints here
One review noted, however, that the devices could be more intuitive. But such assessments are few, and if you look at the photo of the dashboard, it is obvious that it complies with all the principles of placement of indicators

The CBR 900 RR Fireblade is an excellent model that is suitable for experienced sport bikers. And only for them. Firstly, considering how much the car costs, it is not affordable for everyone (taking into account the costs of maintenance and spare parts). Secondly, this sportbike is too powerful for an inexperienced rider.
Production
Production begins in 1992 and ends in 2003. This is the average period. The model no longer meets the needs of a significant part of potential buyers. So connoisseurs of good old motorcycles can now only purchase this example used. However, with proper use it is little worse than new.
The FZR 1000 from Yamaha is a strong competitor to this model. However, the GSX-R 1000 from Suzuki and the Kawasaki ZX-9R motorcycle also compete with Honda. Each model has advantages and disadvantages, but it is impossible to single out a leader from these four. However, in terms of design, Kawasaki probably wins.
Valve adjustment Honda CBR 954 RR
Check the thermal valve clearances according to the service manual for your Honda CBR 954 RR, as well as after disassembling the head or replacing the timing chain or when a characteristic “clunking noise” appears from the cylinder head.
Increased valve clearances lead to increased noise when the engine is running, and if the clearances are too small, the valves will not close, and the engine will not develop rated power, and sometimes it will be difficult to start.
Our service center provides:
Adjusting valves using a rocker mechanism Adjusting valves using washers (Washers are available for adjusting valves with a diameter of 7.48 mm and 9.48 mm)
Please note that after adjusting the valves, in some cases it is necessary to synchronize the carburetors
Who is it suitable for?
In general, the “Fire” is considered the most suitable bike for civilian use, unlike many “liter” classmates.
The raised pegs of the first blade, as conceived by the developers, were supposed to provide the opportunity to purchase a motorcycle to a larger number of users. But in the end, high footpegs did not become more comfortable for tall riders (bending their knees more and stretching), and short ones preferred to choose a more comfortable version.
The new blade was corrected and the saddle fixed in height, as well as lower footpegs, created a certain comfort for motorcyclists of medium and tall height.
Symptoms of engine repair on a Honda CBR 954 RR are:
- Extraneous noise in the engine
- High oil consumption
- Coolant flow
- Low compression in the engine or large difference between cylinders
- Excessively high compression associated with carbon deposits in the combustion chamber
- Blue smoke from the muffler
- Obvious oil leak from the engine
- Transmission problems

Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade or Yamaha R1? Difficulty of choice
On forums dedicated to motorcycle topics, these 2 bikes are often compared. Sometimes Germans, Italians, and other Japanese are added to the pile, but most often they choose between these models.
In fact, the choice largely depends on the user’s love for the equipment of a certain brand. Don’t forget that the R1 has a civilian modification, and the fire razor has a racing version. But in essence the choice can be reduced to one point for which Honda is famous
This is attention to the user
The electronics of the razor will monitor the user until the last minute in order to intervene if the situation begins to get out of control. The R1 driver has more freedom of choice. It is not for nothing that sometimes in Honda advertising there is a mention of total control - complete and constant control over the situation. Only the user himself can choose what is more important to him - increased security or free recklessness.
Comfort
With a height of 183 cm, it is comfortable to sit on a motorcycle. And no less convenient is that the motorcycle is really reliable. The fact that there were no malfunctions on the sportbike for 30 thousand kilometers speaks volumes. Still, the class itself is not very conducive to reliability (theoretically), because the higher the characteristics and the more complex the device, the usually higher the probability of failure (the general principle applies not only to bikes).
The motorcycle is too fast and sharp for a beginner in the class. However, even if a person is accustomed to motorcycles with such a seating position, but in no way wants to use the capabilities of the engine, this option will not suit him either
It is better to purchase a small-capacity and low-power sports motorcycle, which can be used as a recreational motorcycle, without fear that it will explode if moved carelessly
Disadvantages of Honda
The Honda CBR1000RR has so few disadvantages that they simply cannot prevent those who want to “ride the Fire.”
Despite all the details being worked out by Honda developers, the disadvantages are a little strange:
- Fuel consumption. A liter is a liter, but on other liter bikes of the concern during city driving the consumption is less or comparable to 600 cc ones.
- It's getting warm. When parked at a traffic light, the fan starts every minute.
- When moving around the yard (10-15 km), vibration begins. It disappears when accelerating.
- Weak wind protection.
- Mirrors are not critical, but I would like to have larger ones.
The last two points are solved through tuning. For razors, there are developments of large mirrors with turn signal repeaters and dimensions. And the glass can be installed from a third party.
and dignity
The undoubted advantage of the model is its spectacular appearance, harmonious and beautiful.
Owners note many advantages:
- comfortable fit;
- sensitive response to the throttle;
- powerful brakes;
- excellent, easy to read instrumentation (except for the small fly in the ointment - the lack of a fuel indicator).

Honda CBR 900RR Fireblade
“The best in its class”, “the ideal sportbike”, “light and obedient” - there were so many adjectives in the specialized press in the fall of 1999, and they all applied to this thoroughly redesigned model. Here are just the main changes: the engine has moved forward and improved the overall weight distribution (“lost” carburetors), the front wheel is 17″, an elongated rear swingarm and at the same time a reduced wheelbase. Honda really managed to stage a mini-revolution in the class by releasing the last successful modification before the disastrous 954. This “liter” with the weight and habits of a “six hundred”, prescribing a trajectory like a blade in the hands of an experienced cutter, allowed novice “sport bikers” to taste the treasured “liter” pie without the fear of being suddenly thrown off by a too restive “horse”. It is the predictability of behavior (including braking), combined with refined handling, comfortable ergonomics and excellent dynamics, that have earned this Honda the reputation of the best sportbike for daily use.
Flaws
Adrenaline connoisseurs should take into account that if you ride aggressively, the tires on this bike will be a waste.
- High center of gravity. With excellent maneuverability, it will be difficult to enter a sharp turn at speed.
- High fuel consumption in the urban cycle (according to user reviews, up to 8 liters).
- Noisy exhaust. Even at idle speed there will be a “diesel” sound.
- No steering damper.
A good steering damper can be a lifesaver at high speeds. - Inconvenient brake light angle. The driver behind the trailing truck simply couldn’t see him from her height.
and dignity
- Nice, large glove compartment under the seat. There are stock hooks on the plastic for using the net (to fasten the helmet).
- Good gear ratios. In urban conditions, you can drive in 1st gear (range from 0 to 120 km).
- Indestructible checkpoint.
- Weight distribution. Despite the powerful engine, the bike is easy to drive. The axle load ratio of 48/52% is comparable only to a bicycle.
- Excellent brakes. It stops instantly, but you have to get used to it if the user is not ready to fly over the steering wheel at every traffic light.
